Chapter 8: You and Me
Anyone at Ouran Academy who saw Kyoya always noticed he was with Kira all the time. Of course the fan girls of Kyoya didn't like that one bit. They always thought Kira was too bland, too cold, not cheerful enough, and was a home-wrecker. That wasn't the case with Kira, though. No one made her laugh as much as Kyoya did. Lord, did he make her laugh. No one knew that behind the cold façade Kyoya was a witty person with a good, somewhat dry sense of humor.
Now that Tamaki's girls left her alone, Kira once again resumed acting like the girl she always was—cool, calm, and collected—and that her past the Kyoya fan girls. Honestly, she hated the "fan girls" because they were rabid and annoying just like those girls who yelled "Team Edward!" or "Team Jacob!" at the movie premieres from years ago. Speaking of that, Kyoya and Kira watched the Japanese version of "Breaking Dawn part 2" and Kira noticed that the voice actors did a better job than the American actors. The only funny part was that Kyoya slept through the majority of the film, which Kira didn't take offense to because, to be honest, the movies were boring.
As Kira walked to her next class, she was by three of Kyoya's fan girls and they tried to egg her on. She had to bite her tongue to keep herself from verbally ripping them a new one. She knew that she had to keep her temper in check. It was one of her worst faults. In her defense, she had to deal with a lot of stupid, annoying people and they were one of her pet peeves.
"Hello, girls," she greeted in a calm voice, totally ignoring their glares of hatred.
"I don't know what Kyoya-kun sees in you," sneered Nana, a pretty Second Year A-Class bitch.
Ah, that old insult. Kira raised her eyebrows and nodded in consideration at her thought. "To be honest, I don't either," she replied dryly, her voice full of snark.
"Yeah," added Yuko, like Kira didn't speak, another Second Year A-Class bitch. "He should date a girl who's right for him, like me."
"I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy," snarked Kira. The sass in her tone was strong and thick. "Not even my ex deserves that."
"The way we see it," hissed another blue-blood by the name of Sakura, ignoring Kira's other response, "you're not even a girl. You're an evil she-demon who has beguiled our Kyoya."
Okay, that remark hurt a little, but Kira only gave them a narrow-eyed look with a hint of ice in her eyes. She snorted humorlessly and shook her head in disbelief. Wow, these girls were bitches.
"Why don't you blue-blooded, blood-sucking bitches get lost?" she demanded coldly, trembling with fury. "The way I see it, you are all just fucking groupies who obsess over guys you can't get. Kyoya and I are together, get over it! Let's all be adults here, shall we?" With that, Kira turned on her heel and continued walking to class.
"Baby-killing bitch!" Those words caused Kira to freeze in her steps and her blood turned to ice and fire in her veins.
She whirled around and gave them a glare that easily rivaled Kyoya's demonic one. "What did you just say?" she demanded once more, becoming more and more pissed off by the second.
"Baby-killing bitch," repeated Sakura, eyes glowing with mirth.
Kira was about to strike at them but then Kyoya suddenly walked up and she stopped herself. She couldn't let him see her this way. He didn't need to see her lose control. He deserved better than that. Feeling stressed, Kira turned her back on them and placed a hand to her temples, letting out a loud, aggravated sigh. Kyoya looked between Kira and her aggressors for an explanation and the fan girls burst into fake tears and hid behind him.
"She attacked us, Kyoya-kun!" cried Sakura, clinging to his arm. She was so full of shit that it was coming out of her ears. Kira knew Kyoya wasn't stupid enough to fall for that, but she had it.
That was it! Kira whipped back around and charged but Kyoya caught her in a hug and pushed her back a bit. He held her tightly so she couldn't fight his embrace. She didn't attempt to fight him, but she gave the girls a death-glare that rivaled a sleepy Honey-Senpai.
"Kira, Kira, Kira…" he whispered soothingly, before saying to the girls sharply, "You know, you better leave before I actually let her hit you with her tiny, ineffectual fists." He had that charming smile on his face but it held a bit of fury in it.
The three girls let out squeals and ran off like little babies. Once they were gone, Kyoya loosened his grip on her, gave her a gentle hug, and pressed a kiss to her temples. The cold façade crumbled down and Kira began crying softly. Her tears weren't that insistent, but they made her tremble against him. Kyoya cradled her head between his chest and hand and murmured gentle words of love.
"What did they say to you, Kira-koi?" he asked softly, stroking her hair back. He could feel the tension in her neck and shoulders and pity filled him. This poor girl was fried from all the stress and exhaustion that she had been experiencing the last two weeks.
"They-they," gasped Kira pitifully, trying to collect herself but utterly failing, "called me a b-baby-killing b-bitch…I can't…I can't…d-do this…" She broke off into more gasps and sobs, soaking Kyoya's blue blazer.
Though Kyoya's visage was calm, his anger with the girls was hot. When were they going to get over the fact that the pregnancy wasn't supported because of her hostile uterus? Did they enjoy tormenting Kira over that? No one deserved to be tormented like that. It hurt Kyoya to see Kira in such pain. He wanted to take it away from her. He wanted to see her smile and laugh like she did on their first date. Maybe he should take her out again to make her forget about her worries and stress. Maybe I can take her to one of the family's vacation houses, he thought before speaking up to comfort his love.
"It's okay," he whispered soothingly, rubbing soothing circles into her trembling back. "It's okay, Kira…shh…I love you, Kira…I love you."
Kira's sobs grew quiet, but she stayed in the comforting circle of Kyoya's arms. She turned her head so the side of it rested against his chest and listened to the soothing sound of his heartbeat. She closed her eyes and let herself be filled with peace that only Kyoya's presence could give her.
…
During lunch, Kyoya and Kira played hookie and snuck out of the school. Instead of going to last period History, they went back to Kyoya's house to hang out. Kyoya's father and mother weren't around and his sister was with her husband so that left Kyoya alone with his girlfriend. The two sat on a loveseat sofa in Kyoya's loft and they turned the TV on to watch a show.
The show was "Grey's Anatomy" but Kira felt slightly uncomfortable because it was in Japanese and she was still learning the language. The language in the show was being spoken faster than what she was learning from the Japanese Sesame Street that she watched. She was more comfortable learning from the show that taught her the letters of the English alphabet back when she was a little girl. Feeling tired and lazy, Kira snuggled up next to Kyoya and rested her head on his shoulder. Kyoya, in turn, wrapped an arm around her waist and held her close throughout the program. Honestly, he began to tune it out and eventually grabbed some Algebra homework to do.
"You know what bothers me?" Kyoya suddenly spoke, rousing the half-asleep Kira. He felt bad for disturbing her place of Zen.
"What?" she asked wearily in return. It was an automatic response. She was barely listening to him.
"The doctor, Meredith Grey, is having sexual relations with a married man," replied Kyoya indignantly, tightening his grip on his pen. "I mean, if a successful surgeon like that was having an affair, it would be a scandal in Japan."
"Kyoya, the show is based in Seattle, Washington in the U.S.," said Kira patiently, her voice a bit dry, "and it is fiction. My mom is a doctor and she says affairs rarely happen in the hospital."
That answer gave him some comfort. "I see," said Kyoya, nodding in understanding. "I also noticed that the main character's last name shares yours." He gave her a teasing smile and she elicited a chuckle.
"Actually, my mother's name is Meredith Grey," explained Kira, smiling at the thought of her mom. "Her maiden name was Tyson before she married my dad."
"That's pretty interesting," replied Kyoya smoothly, wrapping Kira in a one-armed hug. He already knew her mother's name from his father, but she didn't need to know that yet.
Kira nodded and nestled her head under Kyoya's chin. "Are you sure it's okay for me to be here?" she asked quietly. No matter how quiet her voice was, he could hear the timidity in it.
"My father isn't here, Kira," he answered pensively, kissing her on the forehead. "We're safe." The feel of his lips on her forehead made her feel a warm jolt in her heart.
"Kyoya, kiss me," she requested shyly, "on the lips, please." She blushed at how stupid she sounded. Why did she sound so weak? He was her boyfriend now. She had no reason to be shy with him.
Kyoya looked down at her for a moment and placed his mouth to hers. Another warm jolt went through Kira's heart and she could feel it beginning to pound like a drum. She could feel her pulse in her temples and a delicious heat filled her form like molten lava. Suddenly, Kyoya wrapped his arms around her waist and closed any space between them. Kira placed her hands on his cheeks and gently stroked the soft skin there. Somehow, she ended up in his lap, straddling his hips. She didn't care, though. She was too far gone to care if they got caught.
After a few seconds, Kyoya pulled back and studied Kira. She looked so beautiful with her cheeks flushed and eyes bright, like a woman in love. Then, he bent forward and gave her another kiss on the forehead. That beautiful smile on her face was worth more than any money he had. He wrapped his arms around her and her breasts and stomach pressed against his chest.
"I really do love you, Kira-koi," he murmured gently, holding her in a tight embrace. He stroked her hair back and kissed the shell of her ear, making her shudder in delight.
"I love you too," she replied in a soft voice that she rarely used, clinging to him like this would be their last hug.
The two separated to a respectable distance and continued watching the show but Kyoya noticed a strange look on Kira's face. She looked a bit bewildered by the dialogue from the show.
"What's up?" he asked her in concern as he leaned forward to grab the Algebra he was finishing.
"They sound a bit different in Japanese," replied Kira, nodding to the screen. "I guess I'm not used to hearing the Japanese language that much, especially in a show that's made in America."
Kyoya smiled fondly at her and stroked her hair back from her face. "Watashi wa anata o aishite, Kira-chan," he said to her in a husky voice, causing her to look at him in confusion.
"Eh?" was her puzzled remark. She stared at him like he grew another head and he chuckled. Her confused face was just too cute.
"You'll figure it out," he replied teasingly, kissing her head fondly. She was too endearing to him. He hoped she'd never change.
"Whatever you say, Kyoya," she said dryly, rolling her eyes a bit. He let out another laugh and she couldn't fight back the smile that grew on her face.
He calmed down a bit and decided to change the subject. "So are you going to the ball?" he asked her curiously, his dark eyes inquisitive.
"What ball?" She obviously had no clue of the ball that Friday. Honestly, she was still trying to catch up with the curriculum of the school to focus on the extracurricular activities. Other than the knowledge of the Host Club, she didn't pay attention to the other stuff.
"The ball that Host Club is hosting," answered Kyoya, kissing her temples once more. He decided to turn on the charm a bit. Hopefully, she would be more willing to go if he did.
"Is this you asking me to go with you?" she asked slyly, smiling playfully. Her brown eyes glowed as she stared at him.
"Well, yes, if you'll accept," replied Kyoya softly, his face a few inches from hers. Her could see the blush returning to her cheeks. He still had that charm, he noticed.
"This is me accepting," she whispered tenderly, moving towards him so their lips would meet but then—
"Kyoya, are you home?" The sound of Tamaki's voice stopped them in their tracks. If there was record playing, there would be needle scratch at that moment. The mood was officially killed.
Kira rolled her eyes irritably and Kyoya groaned in exasperation, leaning his head back against the top of the couch cushion. Stupid Tamaki-cockblocking-Suoh! Why was he such a pest? Who gave him a key, anyways? Kyoya didn't recall giving Tamaki a key. Then again, he did have lapses of judgment every once in a while. Maybe he did give Tamaki a key back when they became true friends.
"Kyoya~" he sang in a fake falsetto as he made his way to the loft. "Oh, hey, Kira-chan." He waved at her rapidly and his blue eyes were glowing, smiling like a child who found Mickey Mouse.
"Hello, Tamaki," she said coldly, not giving him any honorifics. That meant that she had no respect for him right now.
"Can we help you with something, Tamaki?" asked Kyoya irritably, keeping his arm around Kira's shoulders. He had to hold on to her so he wouldn't wipe that annoying smile off Tamaki's face.
"I was just wondering if the ball is still scheduled on Friday," explained Tamaki, glowing even more. Kira swore he was actually sparkling, like he was an anime character.
"Of course it is, Tamaki," replied Kyoya like trying to talk to an idiot. "Why wouldn't it be?" The sarcasm was thick in his voice. However, it would go right over Tamaki's head.
"Goodie!" squealed Tamaki, smiling. "Well, I'll see you two turtledoves later." With that, he turned on his heel and left. The sound of the door closing made them share an arched eyebrow. So, he did unlock the door somehow. They'd figure out later.
The tense looks on their faces melted and they began laughing. Only Tamaki could make that incredibly awkward. Kira rested her forehead against Kyoya's shoulder and they laughed until they cried. Moments like these were what they cherished and made them happier beyond belief, like two kids in love. She had never felt like this before. She hoped this feeling would never die.
A/N: How long has it been since I updated? Doesn't matter, I'm doing it now! R&R Please!
The words Kyoya said in Japanese were "I love you". Just thought I'd clear that up!
