Chapter 22: Phantom Planet – Part 2

"Look out!" Lance Thunder screamed but it was too late. Vlad hit Danny with what the heroic halfa recognized as the Plasmius Maximus.

"Did you really think you could get away with denouncing me just because I no longer had your secret identity as leverage, Daniel?" Vlad angrily asked Danny.

"As a matter of fact," Danny replied and suddenly gave Vlad a karate kick. "I do." He answered and drew a ghost pistol.

"Ha." Vlad scoffed. "It'll take more than that to defeat me, little badger."

The Masters' Blasters then got in. "Masters' Blasters stop disasters!" They shouted and tried to capture Vlad but he stopped their devices. "Did you really think I wouldn't see to it your anti-ghost devices wouldn't work on me?"

"Uh, yes?" Thrash hesitantly replied.

"I'll deal with you later, traitors." Vlad said and turned his attention to Danny. "Say your prayers, Daniel." He said and readied himself for a beam when he was electrocuted by a batrang.

"That's a sample of the anti-ghost weaponry Jack and Maddie Fenton developed with Batman." Batgirl said as she revealed herself.

"Thank you, Batgirl." Danny said.

"Hey!" Download protested. "What about us?"

"Shut up, Download." Vid scolded her partner.

Before Vlad could recover from the shock, Batgirl revealed a Fenton Weasel underneath her cape and sucked Plasmius in. "No matter what that fashion mogul from Metroville says, capes rock!"

"Let's see you live long enough to say it again after getting your cape stuck to a missile fin, you stupid little stock figure with a bat costume." Edna Mode said while frowning at Batgirl's statement.

Unbeknownst to the heroes, Jack and Maddie were watching it from their cells. "Oh, no! What have we done?" Both of them asked upon realizing they've been hunting their own son this whole time.

Back at the network, the Guys in White showed up. "We'll take over from here." Operative O said as he took the Fenton Weasel from Batgirl.

Meanwhile, Operative K approached Danny. "Danny Fenton, formerly known as Danny Phantom, all theft charges against you from the time Freakshow was in Amity Park were dropped on the grounds that you were coerced." K said.

"Thank you." Danny was relieved he wouldn't be arrested.

"However, you're still under arrest for the assault on the then Mayor Ernesto Montez, and for the mess you caused during a previous Christmas." Operative K said as he handcuffed Danny. "Since you're no longer a ghost and regained your full human status, you're no longer under the Federal Anti-Ecto Control Act and therefore have your rights which I must read." He said and drew a card. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions. You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you have the right to stop answering at any time. Do you understand these rights as I have explained them to you?"

"Yes." Danny answered.

"Do you want to talk to me without a lawyer?" Operative K asked.

"No." Danny answered and was then taken into custody.

"Don't worry, Danny." Sam reassured her friend. "I'm hiring the best lawyer in the country even if I must let my parents make me wear pink for the rest of my life."

"Can't Batman spare some thousands of dollars?" Tucker asked. He didn't know for sure if Batman was Bruce Wayne but he knew Batman must have the cash to spare considering the stuff he could afford for his crimefighting.

"He's still in outer space helping the Justice League and the Green Lanterns to stop Sinestro's newly created Yellow Lantern Corps." Batgirl answered.

Unbeknownst to Danny's friends and perhaps Danny himself, he attracted more help than they knew.

Global Justice Headquarters – Middleton

"Alright, Kim Possible." Dr. Betty Director said. "I'll see what I can do to help Danny Phantom since you trust him so much."

W.O.O.H.P. Headquarters – Beverly Hills

"Girls, I don't know if Danny Phantom sabotaged Tim Scam's escape back when he dated one of you but it's likely he helped with the bomb." Jerry commented. "If so, we must thank him for saving your lives and not exposing your secret, not to mention we have to make sure he won't do it."

"Not fair!" Clover whined. "We're spies but he learned our secret before we even started suspecting his!"

Samantha, Clover and Jerry each had a drop of sweat. "Anyway, considering his heroics and the facts he's just brought to light about Vlad Masters, I'm willing to hear him out and, should he convince me he's innocent, to set him free. I already suspected Masters of being a criminal but never managed to prove him guilty of anything."

"Did you already know he's a half-ghost like Danny used to be?" Alex asked.

"No, Alex, but he was my main suspect when I investigated a series of bank robberies at the eighties." Jerry explained. "He did a good job laundering the money and, without knowledge that ghosts exist or that somebody developed a way to mimic their intangibility, I couldn't prove he was behind any of those robberies."

Max Tennyson's Trailer – Bellwood

"Grandpa, can't you help him?" Gwen pleaded.

"Gwen's got a boyfriend. Gwen's got a boyfriend." Her cousin Ben teased her.

"No, I don't!" Gwen shouted.

"True." Ben maliciously replied. "He had a better taste and picked somebody else."

"BEEEEEENNNNNNNN!"

National Super Agency Headquarters – Metroville

"Please, Rick." Violet Parr a.k.a. Invisigirl pleaded. "You must help Danny."

"Didn't you and the Rydinger boy reconcile?" Rick Dicker asked.

"I just don't like seeing a fellow Super behind bars." Violet explained. "Also, now that I know you were right about Danny Fenton being Danny Phantom, that means he heard both Violet and Invisigirl say "see ya later" and "we should do this again real soon". That combined with the 'coincidence' of Violet and Invisigirl visiting Amity Park the same day might have made him suspicious."

"Well, even without a secret identity, he could be an excellent addition to the National Super Agency." Rick commented.

Hours later, at a jail cell, Danny was worried not only because of still being in jail but also because his powers didn't return yet. "Fenton, you're coming with us." A guard said. Another guard then took him to a cell where his parents were waiting for him. "Mom? Dad? Uh, you guys might have heard some rumors about me being Danny Phantom…"

"We had a TV in our cell, Danny." Maddie quickly replied. "Why didn't you tell us? Were you so afraid your father and I would rip you apart molecule by molecule?"

"Well, you speak of this as often as Dad eats fudge." Danny explained.

"Don't exaggerate, son." Jack replied. "Fudge is the only thing I speak of that often."

"Just to be clear, what were you thinking when you charged against us back when the existence of ghosts became known to the people of Amity Park?" Maddie asked.

"I thought you were being overshadowed." Danny answered. "Sorry."

"And what would've happened had you been right?" Jack asked.

"The ghosts would've been expelled from your bodies." Danny answered.

"What about the incident with the then Mayor Ernesto Montez?" Maddie asked.

"Mayor Montez was being overshadowed by the ghost who led that ghost invasion." Danny explained.

"And what about those bad things you said about Vladdy?" Jack asked. "Were all of them true?"

"Yes, Dad." Danny sadly. "I'm sorry about your old friend."

"Don't be, Danny." Jack comforted his son. "My old friend ceased to exist when he decided to misuse his powers. I can understand him resenting me but that doesn't excuse robbing people who had nothing to do with the accident."

"By the way, son, those people have some questions for you." Maddie said, pointing to four people Danny didn't notice. One of them was a woman Danny didn't know but her eyepatch made him wonder if she's a Nick Fury cosplayer and the other three were men. One of whom he recognized. "Jerry?"

"How do you know my name?" Jerry asked.

After mentally berating himself for his blunder, Danny decided to be honest. "I might have used my invisibility to help some of your spies to capture Tim Scam and throw away the bomb high enough to save them." Danny explained. "I'd have revealed myself back then but I wasn't sure how W.O.O.H.P. feels about the supernatural."

"While some agents might chance upon the supernatural on occasion, young man, we don't actively seek it." Jerry replied while impressed that Danny managed to tell him he knew the identities of three of his spies without revealing anything to the other people. "Now, Danny Fenton, your testimony might help me solve a series of robberies I failed to solve back in the eighties. And we're interested on the other crimes of Vlad Masters you've brought to light."

"And I didn't tell everything." Danny said. "Vlad cheated his way into the Mayor's office by overshadowing the voters."

"That explains his landslide victory." Another man commented. "I'm Rick Dicker, Director of the National Super Agency."

'Invisigirl must've vouched for me.' Danny thought.

"We froze Vlad's assets and investigated his home." Rick said. "We found the designs for the Plasmius Maximus. Have you regained your powers yet?"

"Not yet, which I find odd since it only lasted three hours last time." Danny commented.

"That's as I feared." Rick commented. "After we raided Plasmius' mansion following you outing him as a supervillain, we found not only the plans for the original Plasmius Maximus but also an improved version that has permanent effects."

"Stupid fruitloop." Danny muttered.

"Don't worry, Danny." Rick reassured the former superhero. "Our scientists are working on a way to restore your powers. Meanwhile, we can have a superhero expert doctor examine you, assuming your parents approve."

Jack and Maddie whispered between themselves. "Agent Dicker, we appreciate your offer but we'd rather perform our own tests first." Maddie said.

"I understand, Mrs. Fenton." Rick replied and handed her a card. "If you change your minds, call this number. And, Danny, Invisigirl sends her regards."

"Really?" Danny asked, surprised a superheroine other than those he (knowingly) dated would do so.

"Yes." Rick answered. "She even vouched for you."

"Send her my thanks then." Danny replied.

"What about the two of you?" Jack asked the woman cosplaying as Nick Fury and the old man wearing a Hawaiian T-shirt.

"I'm Dr. Betty Director, Head of Global Justice." Dr. Director introduced herself. "I'm here because Kim Possible asked me to help you."

"I thought she was a freelancer." Danny commented.

"She is but even we ask for her help on occasion." Dr. Director explained.

"And you?" Danny asked the last man.

"I'm Gwen's grandfather." The man said.

"You'll have to be more specific, Sir." Danny replied.

"The Gwen you met through the dating service, Danny." Gwen's grandfather explained.

"And he's not talking about the Gwen who entered Total Drama Island." Rick added.

"Oh, you're Gwen Tennyson's Grandfather?" Danny asked. "But what're you doing here?"

"The Plumbers have Government legitimacy." Max Tennyson explained.

Meanwhile, Sam, Tucker and Jazz were protesting in front of the jail. "Free Danny Fenton! Free Danny Fenton!"

"Too bad Batgirl had to return to Gotham to protect her secret identity." Tucker commented.

To their surprise, practically every student joined them including the remaining A-Listers. "Paulina?" Sam skeptically asked. "You are helping us?"

"Anything for my ghost boy!" Paulina said with a too sweet tone of voice. "Once he sees I'm supporting him and the Gordon girl isn't, he'll fall for me again!"

"Shallow girl." Sam muttered and Tucker and Sam agreed.

Unbeknownst to them, a bigger threat was coming from outer space.
