Arena
The slot stopped, and it landed on Cavalry Battle. Many people were wondering how this would work since it involved multiple people working together.
Midnight was already on it. "Allow me to explain. The participants will form teams of two to four people as they see fit. In theory, it's the same as the playground game, but there is one difference. Each player has been assigned a point value based on the results from the Obstacle Course."
She was going to continue, but then some of the students interrupted her.
"That makes sense." Yamcha crossed his arms. "A point-based system just like the Entrance Exams."
"So, each team will have a different point value based on which students are on it." Ochaco added.
"MAYBE YOU SHOULD SHUT UP AND LET ME EXPLAIN THINGS TO YOU!" Midnight yelled annoyed that she was interrupted by the crowd. "Now, the point values go up by increments of five starting from the bottom. For example, 42nd place is worth five points, and 41st is worth ten. The point value assigned to the 1st place contestant is… Ten MILLION!"
Izuku paled because that was his point value, so he was now the biggest target on the field. Goku felt kind of bad since he might have been able to pull ahead and remove him as the prey. Tthe class rep knew who he was going to partner up with now. Midnight pointed at the screen again and continued.
It was basically a recap of what was already explained; however, the points would be placed on head bands. They would need to be swiped off the person to get the points and worn from the neck up. That meant the more you had, the harder it would be to manage. Lastly, if you lose them all, you're not out of the game. You can keep going until times up.
"It's anyone's game then." Momo remarked.
"Since there are 42 contestants, there will be ten or twelve teams fighting on the field the entire time." Yamcha added.
"Sounds hard." Yuga commented.
"So, if you lose your headband at the beginning, you have more time to make up a plan." Ashido pointed out.
"I don't know, Mina." Tsu replied. "Maybe we should wait and see how the teams turn out before we start strategizing."
"This is going to be rough." Midnight announced. "You may use your Quirks as much as you like, but there are still rules. Make a team fall on purpose, and I'll slap you with a red card. You'll be disqualified." A timer appeared showing fifteen minutes. "Now, you've got fifteen minutes to build your teams. I recommend you get started."
Everyone was conversing with each other. Goku was about to walk over to Izuku, but he was suddenly stopped when he heard someone call his name.
"Goku!" Mezo spoke up through one of his tenacles.
The class rep turned and saw the six-armed guy approaching him. "Oh, hey Shoji. What's up?"
"I wish to form a team with you." He replied.
"I'm surprised you're not going with Bakugo or Shoto." Goku voiced. "Seems like everyone wants to get in with them just to go against me or Izuku."
"While they have their strengths, you're the most compatible person in class to work with." Mezo pointed out. "Your speed, power, utility, and strategy can compete with or surpass anyone else. The team you form would be untouchable, so I would prefer to be part of it."
"Well, that is a strategy many seem to be going with just with other positions lower than mine." Goku smiled. "If you want to join me, you're a welcome addition."
"I will do my best to accentuate your traits rather than drag you down." Mezo assured.
They started walking only to be immediately stopped by Yaoyorozu. "Excuse me, Goku."
"Huh, hey Momo." Goku greeted with a smile. "Can I help you with something?"
"You can." Momo nodded. "I'm hoping you still had room on your team." She looked from him to Mezo. "Given your impressive physical prowess, mental fortitude, and leadership qualities, Mezo's defensive capabilities, and my Quirk, I feel we could be unstoppable."
"I like her reasoning." Mezo voiced. "Still, this is your team, so the choice is yours to make."
"In that case, you can be on my team." Goku voiced happily. "Though, I don't think either of you should sell yourselves short by comparing yourselves to me. You're both amazing in your own ways."
Momo found herself blushing. "Of course."
"Since you both seem to want an unstoppable team, there is one more person we must get." Goku strolled on over to Midoriya, with his two teammates, who had just been turned down by Ojiro. "Hey Izuku, I got one more spot open on my team, and you're who I want."
Ochaco had been walking up to Izuku only to stop as Goku, Momo, and Mezo approached him with the former asking that question. She would see how this goes and kind of hopped, as unlikely as it seemed, that Izuku would be free.
"Goku!" Izuku cried at someone wanting to team with him. "Are you sure!? Everyone will be after me and my 10 million stupid points! Please tell me you aren't kidding!"
"I wouldn't kid about this." Goku smiled. "Besides, the fact that I helped you into first place means it's my fault you're in this position to begin with. Plus, just think how it'd look for us to keep that first place headband."
"It would send a strong message to any pros watching." Momo reasoned. "That's provided we can at least be in first by the end."
"Plus, Izuku has shown he's rather ingenious himself." Shoji reasoned. "Goku wants him, so it's probably the best move."
"Also, a competition like this will be better with everyone gunning for us." Goku declared excitedly. "I say bring them on!"
Ochaco sighed before beginning to look around for another team. "Maybe I can team with Iida at least." She then felt a hand on her shoulder. "Huh" She looked back and was shocked at who it was. "Todoroki!?"
"I've already gotten Iida on my team and have one spot remaining." Shoto informed. "Provided you are willing to fight those two with all you have, I could use someone like you."
Ochaco looked from her friends to Shoto. "While they are my friends, this festival is a big step towards my goal." She gained a determined look before nodding. "I can."
Todoroki nodded and led her back to where he left Fumikage who would be the fourth member of his team.
Tenya approached Goku's team just as they decided to make Izuku the rider. "It's good to see that you two are in the same place, Izuku and Goku."
"Hey Iida!" Goku greeted.
"Yeah, hey." Izuku rubbed the back of his head. "If you came to join Goku's team…"
"No, that is not the case." Tenya interjected looking rather serious. "I came over here to say that even though you are my friends, I can't keep following you. I wish to get stronger after all." He turned and walked away from them. "The best way to do that is to go up against you two." He joined Shoto, Fumikage, and Ochaco. "Midoriya and Shield, I'll do my best to defeat you."
"We'll really need to be at the top of our game." Goku stated firmly.
"Hey, this is so unfair!" Mei called out. "I called dibs on the first-place from the last event!"
"I thought Power Loader told you, shortly after I left the class, that you can't call dibs on a person." Goku voiced. "Also, you didn't say that out loud."
"Goku, you know this girl?" Momo questioned.
"Yeah." Goku nodded. "I met Hatsume when my sister wanted to see me in the Development Studio. The two seem to have a rivalry."
Mei didn't pay attention to them as she went over to Izuku and showed off her gadgets to basically buy him over to her side. "All my babies can be yours so long as you leave this team."
"What!?" Midoriya replied shocked. "Why would I do that when Goku has two other people already?"
"It won't matter." Mei replied. "We can find two more people easy."
"I don't think I'm willing to do that." Izuku voiced. "I mean, they want me here, so I'd feel like a jerk if I abandoned them like that."
"Suit yourself." Mei huffed. "My babies and I will simply take our talents elsewhere."
She left letting Goku, Mezo, Izuku, and Momo be a team. They discussed strategy with Mezo and Momo telling the other two all about their Quirks. That way Izuku and Goku could come up with the perfect strategy.
When the 15 minutes were up, the teams were as such with each named after who would be rider:

Todoroki had one last thing to prepare considering he couldn't get Momo like he wanted. He removed his gym top, leaving him in the black tank top beneath, and began making strips out of it before knotting the whole thing together. He then tied it around himself intent on using it later.
"Okay, all you First Years!" Mic announced. "I hope you're happy with your chosen teams! Let's get this party started! One final countdown before the game starts!"
"THREE!"
Katsuki popped his knuckles and glared at first place.
"TWO!"
Shoto also focused on first place. He was the rider with Tenya as the front horse, Ochaco to the right, and Tokoyami to the left.
"ONE!"
Izuku, Goku, Momo, and Mezo were ready to get swarmed. Their current formation saw Mezo as the front horse with his arms out to shield Izuku, Momo was to the right, and Goku was bringing up the rear while managing to support the left side as not to make them unstable.
"BEGIN!" Midnight announced.
Four teams were gunning towards first place.
"It's basically one big battle for ten million points!" Tetsutetsu called out.
"Hahahahaha!" Toru laughed. "I'll be taking that headband, Midoriya!"
"Not even giving us a chance, huh?" Mezo pointed out. "Seems about right."
"Make a call Izuku." Goku declared.
"That's easy." Midoriya informed the team. "We're running away!"
"Don't think so!" Tetsutetsu retorted as he let his front horse, Juzo, use his Quirk to soften the ground underneath them. "We're coming for ya!"
"No good, I can't move!" Momo called out.
"Just hold on tight to Izuku everyone!" Goku exclaimed. "I got this!"
Everyone grabbed a firm hold of Izuku as Goku took the air. While it wasn't the most graceful of take offs, he still managed to get his team out of the softened ground. Tetsutetsu's team were forced to change course.
Hagakure's front horse, Kyoka, attempted to use her jacks, but Momo had created a shield which she used to block the attack letting the group get away clean. "Gah, Yaoyorozu!"
"This is perfect." Izuku commented. "With Mezo's frame, he can block all frontal attacks while using his Quirk to keep watch as needed, Goku's flight helps us avoid most teams, and Momo can create anything we may need. The three of you are amazing!"
"I did say that Goku would make his team untouchable." Mezo pointed out.
"Yeah well, I don't have much practice with flight let alone carrying three people." Goku voiced as he managed to move to the left of Izuku. "We'll have to land soon. Momo, be ready with your shield."
"Got it." Momo declared.
Goku brought them down and took note of the various skirmishes going on around the arena as they moved
Then, Mic spoke up. "Wow! Barely two minutes have passed since we started, and it's already a total free for all!" He slammed the table where he was at. "YEAH! Watch those headbands! You can even ignore the ten million points and go for the other chart toppers!"
Team Midoriya hoped that'd be the case, but it was much too soon as they noticed Team Hatsume coming towards them. They were decked out in support gear which included upgrades to their uniform that would no doubt insulate them from Kaminari's electricity.
"Now, why would I do that when the best way to show off my babies is to take the top spot!" Mei exclaimed.
"Hey, we're here to." Tsuyu voiced. "Ribbit."
"Hatsume got Tsu and Denki as horses!" Izuku realized.
"Not to mention Tetsutetsu's team has circled around for another pass." Goku noticed.
"What we need is breathing room." Mezo pointed out. "We can't be caught trapped between multiple opponents."
"Then, let's…" Momo began before noticing Tsuyu send out her tongue. "Izuku, duck behind Shoji!"
Midoriya noticed at the last second and managed to get low behind Shoji's arms making Tsu hit Tetsutetsu instead.
She retracted her tongue and remarked, "Impressive moves as usual."
"Denki, use your electricity now!" Hatsume declared.
"You got it!" Denki declared.
"Everyone, we must move!" Goku took them up again, just in time to get out of Denki's range resulting in him hitting Tetsutetsu's group, before moving to the back of Izuku. "Momo, get to work on something that could keep you guys afloat with only three people!"
"It'll take a moment, but I'll get on it." Momo stated.
Almost immediately they were followed by Team Hatsume since the rider had a jetpack. Team Hatsume then used a combination of wires from a belt Kaminari was wearing, Tsu's tongue, and a net gun wielded by Hatsume to attack them.
"Team Hatsume's keeping up that pressure and making cleaver use of how much gear the members can use!" Mic announced.
"Momo, is it ready!?" Goku asked as he maneuvered them around.
"Yeah, I got it!" Momo managed to unzip her top with one hand as something big was coming out of her stomach. "Once it comes, I'll throw an end up to you Izuku, and you'll have to catch it. Mezo, catch yours as it comes out."
"Understood!" Izuku declared.
"Right." Mezo stated.
Momo produced a large tarp with three weighted sides. She caught two while Shoji caught the third. She then threw one up to Izuku who managed to catch it expanding the tarp out. It was certainly awkward, but it should do.
"Alright, we should be able to support ourselves well enough." Momo informed.
"Right, I won't be long." Goku voiced.
The younger Shield relaxed his hold enough to the point that he could free up an arm. He then generated a blue sphere and lobbed it at Hatsume's jetpack. Fortunately, it managed to slam into the support item taking it out.
"Sorry, but the air is our domain!" Goku announced. "We're not giving up that advantage!"
"No, my baby is ruined!" Mei exclaimed as her team began to gently fall thanks to the hover-soles Tsu wore.
Then, team Midoriya noticed Bakugo flying at them as they fell. "Don't think for a second that you're safe from me!" Katsuki was getting ready to grab the headband. "I've got you!"
Goku just managed to make his team fly again; however, he wouldn't be able to get them out of the way in time.
"We're not giving up that headband." Momo called out as she aimed and threw her shield.
The shield crashed into the oncoming hothead knocking him back, so he was pulled to his team by Sero's tape. Goku then collected the tarp before moving to the vacant left, and landing while Momo generated another shield.
"Nice going Goku and Momo." Midoriya complemented.
"Thanks, but I can't keep creating things forever." Momo remarked. "Eventually, I'll start to burn out my stores of fat, so we need to be smart."
"Just rely on me more." Mezo voiced. "We'll save your creations for when they're needed."
"As suspected, everyone is after the first-place team and giving them no time to catch their breath!" Mic announced. "What a show this is!" The crowd cheered Class 1-A on. "Now, who wants to take a look at each student's points so far?
It's been 7 minutes, so let's get those rankings thrown up on the screen!" The result screen popped up. "Hold on. This is an unexpected turn. Other than Teams Midoriya and Todoroki, Class 1-A's not doing so hot! Even Bakugo is losing!"
The results weren't wrong. Only Team Midoriya and Team Todoroki had points. The rest of the points were in the possession of Teams Monama, Tetsutetsu, Kendo, and Rin. They were dealing with keeping 1-A from getting their points back.
The only ones left around were Bakugo, who was dealing with three teams at once, Hatsume, who was getting ready to go on the attack again, and Shinzo who was taking on Tetsutetsu's team.
"Looks like 1-B is going after all of 1-A first." Goku inferred.
"That means they'll probably go after Todoroki next and save us for last." Izuku added. "As long as we keep our distance then we should…"
Midoriya was cut off by Team Todoroki coming to face them.
"Now, we've reached the halfway point of the games!" Mic announced. "As the Cavalry Battle enters its second half, it's still anyone's game! Class 1-B has made an unexpected showing, but who will wear the ten million points in the end? That's the real question, sports fans!"
"I'll be taking that now." Shoto informed.
"I didn't think this confrontation would happen until later in the contest." Mezo mentioned.
"Now Iida, forward." Shoto ordered.
"Right." Tenya obeyed using his engines to speed his way towards the team.
"Watch our surroundings." Izuku ordered. "It's not just Todoroki. Everyone's after us!"
Teams Kendo, Hagakure, Todoroki, Rin, and Hatsume were all charging full force at the team. Goku noticed the ice coming off Todoroki, so he started to focus on his energy. Shoto removed his knotted cloth and began freezing it causing it to stiffen. By then dragging it along the ground, he created a conduit that could send his ice out to every team freezing them.
"Barrier!" Goku declared.
The ice spread out freezing all the other teams except for Team Midoriya as they were shielding by a yellow barrier of energy. It almost immediately shattered on contact with the ice, but it still gave the team ample time to run.
"Sorry, but there's no other way." Todoroki called out.
Hatsume tried to use her gadgets, but almost all of them broke down from the cold.
"Well, look at that!" Mic announced. "He stopped all those teams cold in their tracks!"
Shoto also took a few headbands while he was at it. "I might as well take these."
He showed them off, which angered the people who had them, before blocking all sides preventing Team Izuku from continuously running. Team Midoriya itself couldn't risk using Goku's flight since Uraraka would just make her team light allowing them to jump after them.
"Get ready to brace!" Goku declared as he saw Todoroki charge full force towards them.
"Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami ordered. "Take care of them!"
Dark Shadow charged at the group, but they turned around at the last second with Izuku ducking behind Mezo. The multi-armed guy managed to hold strong against the shadow before pushing it back.
Goku and Momo started moving the team to the side while Izuku was analyzing the situation. "He's too good with his ice, so we have to be careful."
"At this point, our best option is to go full defensive while preparing for the opportune moment to get out of here." Goku informed. "Everyone, full defensive; however, be ready to move on my command."
Shoji wrapped his arms more fully around Midoriya while still letting Momo and Goku keep ahold of him. Goku radiated his energy while Momo began constructing something from her arm. They just need to hold onto the ten million for a little longer.
"Team Midoriya has decided to hunker down." Mic announced. "With nowhere left to run and one minute on the clock, it's time to see if this will be a game changer."
"We're getting that headband." Shoto spoke quietly, so only his team could hear him. "We have roughly a minute, so we got to work fast. Tenya, you'll charge them. Tokoyami, attack first to draw out whatever Momo creates. Ochaco, use your power on Shoji's arm. I'll handle the rest."
The others agreed, so Tenya blitzed forward as Fumikage had his Dark Shadow lunge at them. Momo projected a tall, metal bar from her feet with a flat top which managed to block off Dark Shadow. The pole was then knocked out of the area meaning it was gone.
Ochaco managed to extend her arm and touch Mezo's arms making them light. Goku immediately began moving them to Todoroki's other side since it seemed like he couldn't project heat like he could ice. It was their best shot at him being able to get them out.
Considering the rules, Tenya had to move if even slightly to avoid a collision which only made an escape more possible in Goku's eyes. As they passed, Todoroki shot out his hand and lifted Mezo's arm exposing Midoriya. Without thinking, he conjured fire.
Izuku saw this, and he used his Quirk to force the flaming hand aside while snuffing out the flames. In that moment, Shoto was utterly shocked while Izuku was proud at not breaking his arm. Goku now started ascending as rapidly as possible.
Once they were high enough, the younger Shield then turned around and managed to throw down the tarp on the stationary, recovering team blanketing them. This would prevent Ochaco from using her Quirk to give her team the extra air needed to catch them.
"Alright, it's less than ten seconds, and Team Midoriya still has their starting headband!" Mic announced.
"Damn it, Deku and Pointy Hair!" Katsuki yelled as he blasted his way up towards them going for the headband.
Momo threw her shield; however, Bakugo had learned from before. He managed to dodge and keep moving. So, Goku flipped around while leveling a kick which nailed him in the head. This couldn't be seen as making him fall since Katsuki deliberately got off his team in the first place.
"We haven't come this far just to lose the headband to you!" Goku exclaimed.
Bakugo was hit hard and sent plummeting before Sero managed to snag him. He released the hot head in keeping him from touching the ground.
"TIMES UUUUP!" Present Mic announced. "With that spectacular finale, the second round is officially over!"
"Just when I thought we'd lose it all, you pulled through Goku." Momo praised genuinely. "You really are something else."
"As I said before, Goku would make any team he was on practically untouchable." Mezo declared proudly.
"We only remained untouchable through a team effort." Goku smiled. "Glad we all agreed to be one."
"Thanks, for letting me be a part of this." Izuku stated as he teared up.
"Now let's take a look at who our top four teams are!" Mic announced. "In first place, it's Team Midoriya!" The entire team cheered. "In second place, Team Bakugo!" Mina, Eijiro, and Hanta were fine with it while Katsuki was pissed off that he lost to Midoriya and Goku.
"In third place is Team Todoroki!" Shoto stared daggers at Izuku and Goku, Fumikage was fine, Tenya looked ashamed, and Ochaco was trying her best to comfort him. "And in fourth place is Tetstu...wait what?! It's Team Shinzo. When did they come back from the dead?"
All the horses on the team looked confused except for Mashairao who looked angered. Shinzo left with a cocky smile on his face thanking his team for the help.
"These four, valiant teams will advance onto the Final Round!" Mic announced. "Now, Let's take an hour lunch break before we start the afternoon festivities! See ya soon!" He forgot to turn off the mic. "Hey Eraser Head, let's grab some food."
"I'm taking a nap." Aizawa replied.
Cafeteria
Everyone, except Shoto and Izuku, were in the cafeteria.
Goku had been joined by Tenya. "I should have accounted for you having more new tricks up your sleeve."
"You mean my Barrier?" Goku questioned. "That was actually something I came up with on the spot as an impression from Fumikage and Mezo. After seeing how their Quirks could be used, the idea to mimic it somehow came to me."
"That would explain why it was easily broke." Tenya hung his head. "Gah, I'm such an idiot! After hearing how you came up with those energy spheres, I should have connected the dots and formulated a plan to counter you."
"Well, there is a chance we could still go against each other again since the Sports Festival isn't over." Goku remarked. "That means you got the time to think of a plan."
Tenya remembered that the next event is a combat tournament, so he did have the chance to start formulating a plan to fight Goku. Even if he for some reason didn't end up fighting him, it would still be smart to have a plan in place.
"I suppose you're right, but why are you suggesting this?" Tenya asked.
"Well, if we fight, I want to see what you come up with." Goku replied. "Plus, it can show the world that you have what it takes to make it to the big leagues, and the Battle Trial from over a month ago only gave me a taste of what you got. I want to see your best."
"You're making it sound like I could even contend with your combat prowess." Tenya remarked. "With the skills, physical growth, and Quirks you seem to possess, my chances of winning would be dismal."
"Hey." Goku retorted. "You know more about me than most of the class, and you are one of the fastest. Honestly, you have just as much a chance at beating me as Shoto, Katsuki, or Izuku."
Iida ended up thinking about it for a second and decided that what Goku said was right. Ultimately, planning for Goku could very well help him in other fights somehow. He thanked his friend, and the two finished their lunch before going their separate ways.
Because of the various ways Goku has interacted with the world, certain people would and wouldn't be interested in working him. This necessitated a change in teams and strategy. Since Momo wanted to work with Goku, Shoto couldn't utilize Denki unless he somehow knew Hatsume had a way to neutralize his electricity. I think that would be too much of a gamble. Of course, here she did have that, but Todoroki wouldn't have known that. Of course, Hatsume didn't have insulating material in canon, but I decided to stretch things a bit.

FamousFox: Even though we have already discussed your review in PM's, I do still feel as though it should be addressed here to some extent. Don't expect it to be as long considering not everyone needs to know exactly how I plan to handle things. Now, I do thank you for the compliment. As for the rest, you are right in that canon MHA would have difficulty in dealing with canon Dragon Ball. That said, just going that route would be boring for me.
Just washing my hands of it at Goku is always the answer and the cast of other characters don't factor much doesn't sit right with me. That's not to say that Goku obviously won't be a powerhouse, but it is to say that I don't want to forget about what makes MHA as special as it is... at least to me. While it's not perfect, MHA does a stellar job highlighting its large cast. That's one factor I just don't want to drop by crossing these two properties.
That's why, even though it has been viewed as contentious by other people, I have chosen to up the strength of this Earth which I feel is fair since this Earth has now always existed in this version of the Dragon Universe. Famous Fox already has a general idea where I have and may end up placing people power wise. For the rest of you, this is honestly a factor that won't become apparent until I potentially do a Z type of story.
