I couldn't say, "I need more time."

Or one more day inside this life
Too Much Is Never Enough - Florence The Machine
(4 Months since Chrono's deep sleep)
Rosette woke up to another boring and typical day at the order. Though today she didn't quite feel like getting out of bed. Instead she pulled up the covers over her head, pulling her legs into her chest. What was there to get up for anyway? Another mission? More cleaning? Nothing exciting. She grumbled underneath the sheets.
Her life was never usually this boring..perhaps she was just so used to the chaotic life she used to have when spending all those years finding Joshua and tracking down Aion. What was she suppose to do with her life now after all that has ended? Azmaria and Joshua seem to be doing just fine in their ordinary lives, so why wasn't Rosette all of a sudden?
The short answer was that she simply missed Chrono. 4 months seemed like years. Whenever she was having a bad day, Chrono would always be there to make her smile. Even when she was frustrated, Chrono knew how to make her feel better, or she'd just simply and 'harmlessly' beat her frustration on him.
A knock at her door disturbed her from her thoughts, but she refused to answer. Then another knock. Leave me alone!
"What?!" She shouted, peeking her head up from the cover. The door opened and Azmaria appeared shyly.
"Um..Rosette? Are you not getting out of bed? You'll miss breakfast again.."
"Not hungry." Rosette mumbled, returning back under her covers to retreat to safety, hoping she'd leave.
"This-this isn't like you Rosette." Azmaria said worriedly . "This is the third time you've missed breakfast this week."
"Yeah? So what? I don't always have to eat, ya know." She protested. Azmaria remained quiet for a few moments refusing to back down.
"You miss him terribly, don't you?" Azmaria dropped her head low. Rosette tightly clenched her eyes shut, a fist holding onto the covers. She said nothing.
"You could go see him?" She asked.
Rosette considered it: "What would be the point? He's still asleep."
"But, um, didn't the Elder say he might be able to hear you still? I'm sure it would help him a lot to hear your voice. And besides, Chrono wouldn't want you to be so sad.."
Rosette remained still until she kicked the covers off her. Azmaria did have a valid point. "Yeah I guess that's true." She turned to look at the life cloak on her bedside table. She still often wore it, wearing it became second nature to her.
"Thanks, Azmaria." Rosette smiled softly, getting out of bed. "I'll be down for breakfast in no time."
Azmaria smiled back in return.
After breakfast, Rosette went straight to Chrono's room. She hated the fact she had barely been visiting him. It just hurt to see him so lifeless like that.
Rosette placed a hand on the door knob and released a steady breath before opening it. The room was dark with the windows closed. Rosette struggled to find the light switch and tumbled in the dark. "Ouch.."
Eventually she found the light and opened the curtains. And there he was. Asleep. His chest gently rising and falling in a soft rhythm. There was some dry blood that had trickled from his horns and down his face, though thankfully it wasn't much blood as before. He still had a bandage round his forehead but Father Remington said it could be removed soon.
"Hey Chrono. Sorry I haven't been visiting you." Rosette picked up a cloth to clean the blood from his face. "Father Remington said that your horns are healing quite well, that's good right?" She smiled. "The Elder also said that there's a chance you could hear me too.." She placed the dirty cloth in the bowl of water. She'd changed it later.
Rosette pulled a chair up next to his bed and sat down looking at her sleeping partner. "Things have been good here, I guess. Azmaria's become a great exorcist, she gotten so much braver. Joshua is still undecided but I don't think he wants to follow in my footsteps, thankfully. I'd worry too much about him, I can't afford to have him get into any more trouble. And I've been keeping busy cleaning, you'd be surprised how much cleaning I've done." Then the memory of cleaning brought back the time when she took Mary's diary..The thought fuelled her with guilt that it made her heart ache. She was glad Chrono was asleep so he couldn't see the shame across her face. Maybe now was the time..
"I don't know If you can hear me but there's something I need to confess.." She clenched her fists that were placed on the lap. "A few months ago I volunteered to help clean the archive room with the other sisters and..well,I found a diary. It was Mary's diary. And I read some of it." She said, then was silent as if expecting him to reply with how disappointed he was. She then continued: "I'm sorry. I guess I just wanted to know more about you..Is that so bad, Chrono? I've only been a part of your life for almost 5 years and you've lived such a long time. I just wanted to know more about it, maybe learn more about you." Even if Chrono could or couldn't hear her, confessing this made her feel a bit lighter. "I hope you can forgive me." She placed her hand on top of his, realising how big his hand was now compared to hers.
Though deep down, she knew Chrono would forgive her. When had he ever gotten angry at her? Not having Chrono by her side made her realise how amazing he really was to her. If only most humans where as loyal and kind as he was.
She sat in silence for awhile, simply gazing at him whilst he slept. She studied his face adorned with them strange metal-like markings, the way his dark lilac bangs nicely shaped his handsome face, to his pointed tufted ears that she secretly thought were pretty adorable. How could the slayer of one hundred million looks this beautiful and be so kind? It strangely never bothered her when demons called him that.. She never wanted to mention it since Chrono probably had enough with every demon repeating it to him. She knew what he did was awful but the immense regret and shame it made Chrono feel was enough to silence Rosette from ever speaking to him about it. She refused to only see the bad side of Chrono like most.
Her grip on Chrono's hand tightened as she got off the chair and bent down on her knees.
"Come back to me Chrono.." She pleaded as if she was almost praying. "I can't keep pretending I'm always happy. I know I shouldn't hold it all in but I have to be strong for you, right?" Rosette made the risky decision and let her tears escape her eyes, running down her cheeks. She rested her head on the bed, letting her tears flow freely without the worry of someone seeing her cry. She always told everyone never to hold back on their emotions because it only made things worse, maybe she should listen to her own advice for a change.
After a few minutes of crying, Rosette manage to calm her tears down. She wipe her tears away from her eyes and looked at Chrono one last time, focusing on her breathing. Standing up, Rosette carefully came closer and lightly kissed him on the forehead.
"I love you, Chrono." She whispered, lingering close to him for a few moments before willing herself to pull away.
"Right! I better be going, I'll leave you in peace. I promise to see you more often, 'kay?" Rosette drew the curtains and switched of the light. Picking up the dirty water, Rosette left the room, praying she had made the right decision.
Seconds before Rosette had left, a tear rolled down Chrono's cheeck, eyes still remained shut.
