Connie and Jasper were on the porch stargazing together, the girl sitting on Jasper's shoulders with her head rested in her hair. She pointed up. "Look! It's Siruis!"
Jasper squinted up in confusion. "Which one? I thought they were all serious to you.
"No, it's not a constellation, it's a star! The brightest one besides the sun." Connie giggled.
The bigger gem suddenly frowned. "Is it the loudest one too?"
"Loudest? Stars don't make nois… oh my gosh!" Connie had noticed that Jasper was looking at the wrong star, but a shooting one. It sounded like it was screaming. "Is that what meteors sound like when they're about to crash?!"
"I'll protect you!" Jasper yelled, shoving Connie behind her. "COME AT ME, METEOR! I'M NOT SCARED OF YOU!"
It crashed on the beach, but it was no meteor, making Connie and Jasper go to invitgate. They gasped in shock.
One of the Jaspers that they had launched into space had landed there. It appeared to be the leader of the group, the one with her gem on her head. She didn't have too many differences from Connie's Jasper, except the shades of orange were different and her hair was short. Luckily, she was still unconscious."
"Kid, get behind me again. This is worse than a rock." Jasper growled.
Suddenly, the Jasper awoke. She saw them staring down at her and looked back. Her eyes widened, seeing the much bigger Jasper. "It's you…"
"Yeah. So don't try anything dumb." Her sister replied, guarding Connie who peeked out from behind her.
The Homeworld Jasper stood up, making the two brace themselves, but she only looked around in confusion. The gem then looked at the sand and slowly wiggled her feet in it, feeling the texture. "... I've… never felt this kind of land before…."
"That's sand.. and you're 7XR, right?" Connie asked happily, trying not to laugh at the child-like innocence the gem had when she stared in wonder. The gem nodded. The girl then frowned. "Wait, why aren't you attacking us?"
The Jasper then glanced up, as if she just remembered that they were enemies. "Oh yeah! I almost forgot! Thank you, human!"
"You're welcome! ...Wait a sec-"
The Jasper lunged at her with a war cry, summoning her nunchucks, but was quickly knocked to the ground by the other one.
The Temps' Jasper took out her gem destabilizer in anger. "I told you not to do anything dumb!"
"Jasper, wait!" Connie cried, pulling her back. "We can't, not without a good reason!"
"She tried to attack you, that's a great reason." Jasper hissed.
The girl looked at the other who had gritted her teeth in anger. "Yes, but we have friends who've done that before! She could live on Earth, with us! Didn't you see how amazed she was by it?"
"You're giving me another chance?! ... You'd let me stay…? R-Really?" Asked the one on the ground. She grinned. "You're nice, human!"
"No way." The Temps' one growled, glaring down at the other. "She's not staying here!"
"But-!"
"No, Connie." Jasper growled. "She is a soldier that was made to destroy enemies of Homeworld! That means us!"
"So what?! You were too!" Connie cried.
"Yeah, she's ME! Same face, same everything!" Jasper yelled, making her quiet. She bent down to Connie. "And if your mother hadn't found me and I was in her place? … You would already be gone."
Connie bowed her head.
"Look… I just need to be sure she isn't here for revenge-"
They heard the warp pad sound from above them and saw the glow.
"We'll have to after the mission."
Connie sat outside the bathroom door before knocking gently on it. "It's me again!"
She heard some shuffling before she heard the loud thud of the Jasper sitting down. "How was your mission, human?"
"It was good, I guess." Connie smiled happily. "Despite all our work, it seems there's always corrupted gems to find! So… how'd you get here exsactly?"
"...Well, I was with my team, when suddenly our own ship hit us! It separted us, and I had apparently been traveling to Earth ever since!"
"Oh jeez… I'm sorry." Connie gasped. "That was us…."
"Of course it was…" Chuckled the Jasper. Connie heard a sudden loud pound on the ground and glanced up.
"What was that?!"
"Some heavy weapon of yours fell to the ground, it appears to be a gun."
"Oh! That's a hairdryer." Connie laughed.
"I… don't know what that means." Grunted the gem behind the door. She then sighed. "I don't know what any of this means, my team is gone, I'm so confused on Earth… an-and there's this weird feeling that's making me tremble because of it."
"She's scared, really scared." Connie whispered to Jasper.
"We don't feel fear, impossible." Jasper growled.
Connie gave her a look that reminded her she had once confessed to being scared herself.
"Okay, we feel fear, in certain situations." The gem relented. "... But are you sure we should let her out? Quartzs always have a vengeance if you wrong them."
"Name one!" Connie smirked.
"Garnet, Ruby, Sugilite, Rose Quartz, Morginite, Amethyst-"
"Okay, I see it now."
"Me." Jasper finished with a growl. "Literally every Quartz you've met has or is still looking for vengeance."
"Yeah, but you and Amethyst got over it, right?"
"We both bested Garnet in one way or another, so yeah." Jasper smiled proudly, as if remembering it fondly. She looked down to see Connie glancing at the bathroom door with hope and sighed. "I'll give her a chance, but only because we learned that vegence isn't the most important thing thanks to you."
"This is stupid."
"Just do it! It has powers!"
Amethyst blew the dandelion's seeds off the stem and watched as they fluttered away in the breeze.
"Now, what did you wish for?" Pearl asked with a smile, leaning her head on Amethyst's as they sat on the barn roof.
"It's silly." Amethyst blushed, looking away.
Pearl frowned. "I've wished for plenty of silly things with the mystical powers of the dandy-lion, the first thing I wished for was Rose! Yours can't be any worse than that."
"True." The Quartz smirked. She sat up and petted Meowlon with a sad smile. "I wished that someday, probably eons away, I'd be able to see the other soldiers again. They teased me, sure, but they didn't despise me for my size. Heh, all I was known by back then was-"
"8XM!"
Amethyst and Pearl peeked over the roof to see Connie and 7XR smiling up at them.
Pearl gave a strange sound of panic, grabbing up the kitten while Amethyst leaped to the ground, separating Connie and the Jasper. "Kid, you crazy?!"
"It's okay! 7XR's good now!" Connie cried before Amethyst could throw the whip at her.
"And you wouldn't be able to beat me anyway, runt." Smirked 7XR. "I just crash landed today and I want to stay on Earth with you guys!"
"Yeah right!" Amethyst growled.
The Jasper's face twisted up in anger but she then took a few calming breaths like Jasper had taught her. She then looked to Amethyst and Pearl who had leapt down. "If I could have my ship and see my crew, I would have left this world in a instant, but I can't! So, I'm not going to hurt any of you, that would get me nowhere, and I certainly don't want to be put back in charge of you, runt."
Amethyst narrowed her eyes. "Sorry if I find that hard to believe, Commander."
"I was once your superior, yes, but I'm now just like you: confused and unsure about what anything is." 7XR exsplained. "The only reason I'm trying this is because I liked the feeling I had when this human treated me as someone not to be feared. I want you to not fear me too."
"I'm not scared of you, never have been!" Amethyst huffed.
"We both know that isn't true." The Jasper chuckled, making the gem squirm slightly. "I'm giving this a try, okay? Even though I don't really want to, I'm putting my guards down and…. trusting you all to help me."
Connie and Amethyst saw the genuine look of anxiousness the gem had and realized she was sincere.
"Pearl's distracting her with Meowlon, so we should have a few minutes to chat." Connie told Amethyst as she shut the barn door. To the Quartz's surprise, the girl walked over to the Jaspers' old ship which lay out by Amethyst's mountain and covered it with a white sheet.
"7XR should probably know about the ship, Connie." Amethyst muttered softly, watching as the girl paced the room. "I've known her since I popped out of my hole, and she's not one to try and betray, and she'll be angry when she thinks there's no way off here, maybe violent."
Connie watched through the crack as 7XR laughed wildly while Meowlon licked her face. "... I feel bad about it, but I can't let her see it. Didn't you hear her? She said she'd escape and find her team again if she could, probably leading them right back here, or to Pink Diamond. We can tell her once she gets more comfortable with Earth, in a few months."
"Try centuries."
Connie gave a weak laugh and pulled Amethyst out of the barn with her.
"Welcome to Earth!" Pearl announced to her student.
Connie grinned happily while the Jasper nodded firmly, acknowledging her welcome.
"Everything here is strange and very confusing! But the first thing you must know when joining our little family of friends is that you are not in charge, no one is." Pearl told her, crossing out an angry drawing of Amethyst. "You are not allowed to order anyone to do anything or treat anyone like they are less than you-"
"Question!"
"You are not allowed to interrupt me either!" Pearl added on with a short sigh. But she gave a weak smile. "I'll let it slide this one time though. What is your question?"
"Am I allowed to say I'm better if I beat them in competition?"
"Sadly, no. I've already tried that." Pearl mumbled.
Amethyst then stopped the Jasper before she could ask another question. "There is no roles here either, so don't expect to be promoted to something higher than any of us."
Her hand went down.
"We are all a team here, even if we don't all go on missions." Pearl moved on.
"A team…?" 7XR asked softly. She grew quiet, staring at the sky, thinking of her friends. "... I have another question, Pearl…"
"Yes?"
"Am I… allowed to miss Homeworld, and my group? I just want to see them again."
The others looked at her with sympathy, even Amethyst.
"Of course you do, 7XR." Connie told her, hugging her shoulder. "I'm sorry, but there's no way to see either, not yet."
"I'll never get to see either of them again…? And I'm s-stuck here, with you guys…" 7XR whispered, finally letting it sink in. She suddenly gritted her teeth in anger. "I'm supposed to be okay with that?! You tricked me, you were going to let me go empty handed to Pink Diamond, you sent me into space…!"
She then stood up, getting blinded by rage and melting down. "I-I can't do this!"
"7XR…?" Connie whispered, seeing that her weapon had formed.
Amethyst and Pearl were behind the big Jasper watching in shock as she laughed, holding her face in anger.
"I should hate you…! I should… destroy you for what you did!" 7XR growled through tears. In her anger, she suddenly swung Connie.
The girl screamed in horror, shutting her eyes and trying to shield herself, but the strike never came.
She opened her eyes to see 7XR was trembling, still holding her nunchucks aloft, tears coming down her face.
"I can't hurt you." The Jasper then admitted to them all.
Amethyst gave a war cry though, wrapping her whip around the gem.
7XR snapped the whip easily in half though, glaring it them. "I was angry, I won't happen again! I'm sorry, okay?!"
"Shut up!" Amethyst yelled, she and Pearl had their weapons ready.
"I-I need a second chance, I'm sorry!" Repeated the Jasper.
"That was your second chance!" Pearl whispered. "You already tried attacking her before!"
The gem turned to Connie. "Please, you have to have a little trust in me! I put all my trust, every bit of it in you!"
"O-Of course I trust you, one hundred percent!" Connie sighed nervously, feeling guilty. "I'm glad you trust me that much!"
"I knew this would happen." Amethyst whispered. "I knew she'd go crazy like this! Connie, we can't have her around!"
"Get away! Why can't you understand me like she does?!" 7XR cried, seeing the two getting closer to her. In a pure burst of adrenaline, she started to sprint away towards the barn.
Connie then realized with horror that she was running to the left side. "WAIT!"
7XR slid behind the covered ship, trying to hide, when she noticed the shape, and then the coloring. Her eyes widened in shock and she tore off the sheet.
"7XR, I can exsplain-!" Connie pleaded, she and the others running up.
"How dare you!" 7XR hissed, glaring at Connie. "You knew about this, didn't you?! You knew and lied about it! You said there was no way off!"
"I was only trying to stop you from getting angry and-!"
"And hurting you?" The gem whispered coldly. She chucked. "I hate this game we're playing, and I want it to end… So I'm leaving. I'm finding my friends, and going home!" She slammed her hand on the ship door and it opened. She took one last glare at Connie and her friends.
They all tried to stop her, but she pressed a button on the side of the door and they were all blasted back by the ship rising into the air.
"7XR, I'm sorry!" Connie yelled over the wind, feeling horrible. She ran to the ship and leapt up with her diamond strength, getting just high enough to see the Jasper.
"Me too…."
Connie was then hurtled to the ground and she slammed into it, making a large rut in the ground. She looked up to see the ship vanish into light.
"Connie, are you okay?!" Pearl yelled.
Connie stared up at the sky. She wasn't okay.
