"Let's go, let's go!"

"Coming!" Connie called over a large basket stuffed full of sweets and stuffed animals. "Ms. Miller packed a lot for Sadie!"

Steven laughed and placed it in his cheeseburger backpack. "Well she's been in space for a while, speaking of space…!"

Connie was pulled beside Steven as he started to sing a song he'd either just made up or had been making ever since Connie invited him on this trip, either was equally likely. "Connie and Steven, Steven and Connie-! Going to space! Seeing the gem race! And being with each other! It will be so great, 'cause now their bond, stronger than ever!"

"I'm not sure if this'll be a very fun adventure, Steven…" Connie laughed nervously as she rechecked her bag for everything. "Sadie and the Crystal Temporizes were hiding from Pink Diamond the last time we saw each other… She may not be off Homeworld and in space yet. And if she isn't, we can't stay long, it would risk Pink Diamond finding us."

Steven nodded a bit somberly before looking determined. "Right! I'm just happy we're going on a mission, just the two of us!"

"Mmhm! Lion, ready?" Connie smiled, now fully ready and with Steven by her side.

Lion purred and then rolled over, saying he would like a belly rub.

The children squealed but then composed themselves.

"We mustn't let cuteness distract us!" Connie cried.

Steven nodded. "Onward, my liege!"

After going to Sadie's tree and plunging down, the two emerged from Sadie's hair before falling to the hard floor of a ship.

"Connie?" Sadie gasped in shock.

Connie turned and was surprised to see Sadie was now in wearing a Yellow Diamond uniform, it cut upward to show the wound that had once killed her. Her hair was pulled up in a stylish knot. "Sadie?!"

"Fugitives! Return the ship at once or face the wrath of this Roaming Eye!" A deep, near mechanical voice yelled, making the children turn in surprise. On the screen was a blue gem that was quiet close to the camera, to the point they could only see their eye. It must be a very large gem, Connie concluded.

Sadie only smirked, placing her head on her hand as if bored. "Aw, you think your Roaming Eye can catch up to this warship? That's almost as cute as you are, Chris!"

"My type is Chrysocolla, you human welp! It doesn't even sound like Chris, you're just using that 'cause you think it's funny!"

"It is funny."

"It is not!" The gem growled. "How dare you call me cute, I could squish you…!"

Connie and Steven looked around to find the gems from Homeworld were manning the ship as the commander babbled on about her size.

"Could someone shut her up please?!" 7XR moaned, rubbing her temples.

Topaz glanced up to her before looking back at Sadie. "Captain?"

"No, this is too amusing." Sadie grinned. She looked over at the biggest gem in the room. "Fluorite, how's the engine running?"

"I… will… check." Fluorite smiled before heading down the steps.

"You…! Set the tractor beam at once!" The enemy commanded.

"Captain, our trajectory to Earth has changed due to the tractor beam's interference! We're stuck!" Idolite called, looking up from her screen. "Why must you be so… so mean, Chris?!"

"I told you not to-!"

"Aquamarine, think you can calculate a way outta here?" Sadie asked.

"I don't think, I already know!" Aquamarine smirked. She turned to Rhodonite and whispered to her.

"Coordinates are inputted!" Rhodonite announced. "Ready to go!"

"Firing up the hyperdrive now..." 7XR responded.

"What are you-?! You can't escape a tractor beam no matter how much you struggle!" Chrysocolla yelled.

"Really? I didn't even flinch at Pink's powers, yielded no information, and broke out my team and the rest of those imprisoned before your Diamond could even question them! I'm a master at escape, Chris, you know that…!" Sadie laughed slightly. "7XR, hit it!"

The ship rocketed off, zigzagging until the tractor beam finally released them and they were able to escape in hyperspeed.

"She's got some pretty big talk, huh?" Sadie smirked to Connie and Steven.

"Sadie!" Steven cried, hugging her while Connie ran up.

"Sadie, you… that was incredible!" Connie exclaimed. "How does this ship, and my mother's uniform still exist on Homeworld? I thought they'd be removed because of production and leadership issues!"

"There aren't many good Homeworld ships like our Comet Cascade left," Sadie agreed. "but they are for only the highest elites, like Rhodinite's boss. So we stole one! Plus, some little gems made this for me a while back when I freed them from service."

"You mean that blue Zircon's pebbles." Aquamarine added on.

"Pebbles, that's it."

"Connie, is this your friend?" Topaz asked, looking to Steven with interest.

"I'm Steven!" Steven announced. "It's great to meet everybody, I've heard so much about you guys!"

Sadie laughed. "You haven't heard anything yet, we've been on so many adventures since Connie left! The most recent being, stealing this baby."

"Sadie could get by the sensors completely undetected! It was quite easy for us because of that." Idolite smiled.

"And now, we're on our way to Earth."

"Speaking of Earth, da, da, da, da! Care basket!" Steven presented.

"Aw yeah! Thanks guys!" Sadie cried, tearing it open. She took out a few sets of her favorite clothes and some stuffed animals. "So… is my mom okay?"

"She knows you're coming home, and can't wait!"

"And how about Lars, is he alright?"

"Better than alright, he's thriving now!"

"T-Thriving, huh?" Sadie asked, a hint of sadness in her voice.

"Check it out! We're part of a gaming group now, and he quit his jobs, he wasn't very happy there." Connie explained.

Sadie took the phone and scrolled through pictures of Lars. "He's really… that happy without me?"

Suddenly, a warning alarm started ringing, surprising everyone but Sadie who was too focused on the phone.

"Captain, the Red Eye is approaching, it'll be here in five quads, what are your orders?!" Rhodonite asked.

Tears filled Sadie's eyes. "I don't get it…! I-Is it my fault?"

"Is what your fault?" Connie asked as Steven tried to calm the gems down and figure out a plan.

"Is it my fault he wasn't happy before…?"

"Sadie…"

"This all happened because I wasn't there to hold him back, right?! Because he started to hang out with better people, people who treated him better, who could easily tell him how much they…!"

"Sadie, he was miserable without you for a really, really long time. He misses you so much." Connie whispered, kneeling down to her. "The only reason he's happier now, is because he felt it was time to move on. That doesn't mean he doesn't still think about you though!"

"He's so happy without me…" Sadie whispered through tears.

"Would you rather he be sad?" Steven asked.

The teen immediately shook her head. "N-No…"

"You have to believe in your bond, Sadie because…!"

"Because…!"

Steven and Connie fused in their joint passion.

"Because some relationships are so strong, they transcend time and space!" Stevonnie finished, placing their hands on their hips. "And yours and Lars's always will!"

Sadie looked shocked, a blush covering her face for a moment before nodding. "You're right!"

She noticed the Roaming Eye and smirked. "Don't worry, crew, it's just a- Hi, Chris."

"I will give 5 paces before I have my crew initiate our newest feature upon your ship, Crystal Temps!" The enemy captain announced.

"Ooh, new feature! What's that?" Sadie asked, leaning forward.

"A new invention by yours truly. It will shrink your ship to the point you will all shatter inside!"

"Who requested you make that?" Connie suddenly asked. "Doesn't seem too useful seeing as you'd probably crush all the supplies on this ship too, if it only shrinks the ship itself."

"Well, it wasn't for ships originally..." The deep voice answered, sounding a bit off-guard.

"Then it had to be for other gems, right?" Steven asked curiously.

"Ah-!"

"Chris, why would you want other gems smaller… when you're self-proclaimed one of the largest gem next to the Diamonds? Wouldn't everyone already be small, unless-!"

"Fire it…" Chrysocolla growled. When no one answered her, she turned around and walked away from the camera, revealing she was truthfully the size of a pebble. A high voice squealed out, no longer edited by the microphone. "Fire it!"

"Oh my stars!" Connie gasped.

"Cuuute!" Steven cried while the others started to laugh uncontrollably at their supposed giant enemy.

But the funny moment was soon ended when a beam hit the ship and it suddenly groaned, starting to actually shrink.

"It actually works?" Chrysocolla asked, looking surprised. She then scoffed. "I mean, of course it does! As long as we have this beam on you, you'll be too small to cause us any more trouble!"

The screen switched off and the crew began to panic.

"We need to get that beam off of us!" Idolite cried to the crew. "My calculations say it will finish us off in exactly ten quads if we don't!"

"We need a distraction to get that Roaming Eye away, something like… that!" Sadie snapped suddenly, getting everyone's attention.

"That, pardon me for saying, is a stupid idea, Captain, always has been!" Aquamarine pouted. "If you use that you may not return!"

"I think that's all we got right now though." 7XR grunted, shapeshifting a bit smaller as the celling sinked in.

Stevonnie began to push the ceiling as it began to push them slowly downward. "What are we talking about?!"

"The captain's experimental fighter jet that only she knows how to drive. It's too risky!" Rhodonite moaned in worry.

Sadie shook her head, tightening her bun. "It's all we have."

"Sadie, no, you have to stay with your crew!" Stevonnie insisted, pushing her back in her chair.

"But-!"

"Captain Sadie, permission to go in your place! If it's anything like driving a car, I should be fine!" The fusion saluted.

Sadie gave a long sigh, thinking it through. "Okay… We need you to distract that ship long enough for us to get out of range. With any luck, they'll think we all are trying to escape and follow you."

Stevonnie nodded before the captain pushed a button, causing the fusion to be transported down to a small ship and was delighted to see it was exactly like a car, which was most likely the reason only Sadie knew how to pilot it. "Whoa! It is like a car!"

"Stevonnie, the moment you see us blast off, press the yellow button there and it'll shoot you after us once Aquamarine sends you the corridonents. Got it?" Sadie asked, appearing on screen.

"Got it!" Stevonnie smirked.

The little ship blasted off and they dodged the beam that went away from the Comet Cascade.

"Turn them around!" Sadie requested.

Stevonnie made the ship curve around the Roaming Eye tauntingly and it began to chase in the opposite direction of the base ship.

"Don't worry, Roaming Eyes doesn't have any offensive capabilities so if you can manage to keep them distracted long enough-!"

Suddenly, the Roaming Eye unleashed 4 missiles and sent them hurtling towards the ship, making the two gasp in horror.

"Chris, you and your crazy inventions!" Sadie growled in anger.

Stevonnie shifted gears, making the thrusters flip over and sent the ship in reverse.

They dodging one missiles, two, three. The fourth one didn't hit dead on, but Stevonnie had already calculated: they were in the blast radius.

"Sadie, I can't- UGH!"

Stevonnie screamed as the missile delivered critical damage to the thrusters. The warning alarms blared as the ship nosedived down to a nearby planet, disappearing its clouds.

"Connie?! Steven?! Answer me! GUYS, ANSWER ME!"

There was nothing but static in return.
