Tears of Poison
Kagome had been poisoned in battle. Myoga had done his best to suck out the poison, but the girl had still not woken up. It looked like all hope was lost.
Inuyasha put one arm around Kagome's shoulders, one around her waist, and gently pulled the girl onto his lap, never letting go of her. He rested his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes.
" Kagome, please forgive me. If I could have protected you...you'd still be here...with me." Inuyasha said, trembling with sadness.
Suddenly he felt warm breath on his neck.
" I-Inu...Yasha..." a soft voice said.
Inuyasha's eyes snapped open. " K-Kagome! " He leaned back to see that Kagome had opened her eyes. " Your okay! "
" S-Sorry for making you worry... " Kagome's voice was still very weak.
" Stop it! Don't apoligize! " Inuyasha said, then, he rested his head on her shoulder once more, while Kagome still leaned aginst him. " Kagome...I thought I had lost you... " And for the first time, a tear rolled down his cheek.
Inuyasha tightend his grip around Kagome, pulling her closer to him. Then he said something he had wanted to say for a long time:
" I love you, Kagome. "
" I love you too, Inuyasha. "
Inuyasha pulled his head back and stared at Kagome. Carefully, he removed his arm from around her waist, and brushed back her hair covering her eyes. Then he put his arm back around her waist. Kagome lifted her gaze to meet his. Inuyasha leaned down to capture Kagome's lips in a passionate kiss.
When Inuyasha pulled away, he pulled Kagome into a tight embrance, running his fingers through her hair.
" I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you Kagome. " Inuyasha said softly.
" It's ok Inuyasha, you did your best. " Kagome said.
" But you never would have been poisoned if I could have prote- "
Inuyasha was cut off when Miroku, Sango, and Shippo tumbled out of a bush.
" What are you guys doing here! Your supposed to be at Kaede's! " Inuyasha yelled.
" Uhh...umm...well..." Miroku started.
" Run! " Shippo said.
Miroku, Sango, and Shippo took off running when they saw Inuyasha stand up.
" Good for nothing spies. " Inuyasha mumbled, sitting back down by Kagome.
Kagome laughed and leaned aginst Inuyasha's chest. " Should we go back? "
" Yeah, we better go let Kaede know your ok. " Inuyasha said, helping Kagome onto his back. He took off running when he made sure Kagome was ok.
" I love you Inuyasha. "
" I love you too..."
