"And I'm going to Chelsea New York because?" John asked with a raised eyebrow as he gave the Kryptonian before him an incredulous look. The Green Lantern then shook his head as he walked past the monitor station in the Watchtower. "You know what? I don't even want to know. I have enough on my plate right now. Especially after you saddled your cousin on me. Kara is reckless, stubborn, and doesn't listen to directions. It's aggravating to deal with her day in and out. I don't need to be a Justice League recruiter on top of it."

Clark sighed as he followed behind him, "Look you've been cooping yourself up here or in your own apartment whenever you aren't on a League mission. It would be good for you to get out."

"And do what exactly? See a movie? Go to a play?" John sarcastically asked him.

Clark lightly frowned as he sighed once more, "John I know what happened wasn't easy on you. It was hard on all of us but we know how hard this was for you. After all you and Sha-"

"Don't even say her name!" John snapped at him with a scowl. "The last person I want to hear about is her. She left on her own. She could have stayed but she decided to leave all of us behind."

"If you're done throwing your temper tantrum, move out of the way," a deadpan voice said from behind the Green Lantern. John turned to see Batman standing there with a deep frown planted on his face. The Dark Knight's frown deepened even further, "You're in the way of the transporter. Move out of the way Lantern."

Clark raised an eyebrow, "And where are you headed off to this early in the morning?"

John begrudgingly moved out of the way with an annoyed huff. Bruce ignored him as he stepped in front of the teleport pad. He then glanced over his shoulder to Superman, "My own recruitment."

"Of who exactly?" Clark asked. "I didn't know you were recruiting League members yourself."

Batman turned fully towards the two and moved his cape to the side. John's eyes widened when he saw the Nth metal mace attached to the utility belt. Batman just as quickly dropped his cape and turned towards the teleport pads again, "Fate wanted to study the properties of Nth metal before. Shayera wouldn't let him have her mace when he first asked her for it. Considering she didn't bother to take it with her, I see it as a bargaining chip. If Fate wants the mace than he needs to join the League."

With that John scowled and glared at Bruce, "You're not taking her mace and just handing it off."

Batman turned slightly to look at the Green Lantern, "Why should you care? It's not like you're holding onto hope that she's going to return, right? You said it yourself, Shayera left on her own." Batman then stepped onto the teleport pad, "You can't have it both ways John. Make up your mind already. You either care about her or you don't." John silently stared at the floor as he let out a sigh. Seeing that he wasn't going to respond, Batman looked up at the command deck, "J'onn teleport me down. I've had enough of my time wasted."

J'onn curtly nodded as he typed on the console, "Will you be needing transport back?"

"Negative, I'll be close enough to Gotham," he responded before being teleported away in a blue light.

John deeply inhaled before sighing, "Alright fine, who's in Chelsea?"

Clark lightly smirked, "A supermodel."

"Supermodel?" John repeated with a confused look. "How's a supermodel going to help us?"

"Her name is Vixen. She owns a totem that allows her the ability of every known animal on the planet," the Kryptonian briefly explained. "I was going to send Wally but I don't think his version of recruitment will work on her. She's rather high class for being a superhero and my guess is that Wally would quickly find a way to offend her."

John rolled his eyes, "It was bad enough he hit on Doctor Light and Huntress when we sent him. Fine I'll go."

"I'm surprised that you came all the way here," Fate said to Batman as they walked through the halls of the Tower of Fate.

Bruce frowned, "I came with a proposition for you."

"A proposition? What type of proposition?" Fate then paused. "That's not it though. There's something else you want as well."

Batman ignored him as he detached the mace from his utility belt and held it in his hands, "I have an offer and somewhat of a favor."

"I'm interested in hearing this offer," Fate gestured for him to continue on.

"You join the Justice League and we'll allow you to study this mace. I know this has held your interest for quite some time."

"I've always wanted to see just what it was about this Nth metal that disrupted magic and if I could somehow negate these effects," Fate mentioned as he stared down at the mace. "And if I accept?"

"You accept then you're a League member and have ownership of that mace. On one condition," Batman added on.

"Which I assume to be the favor."

Batman curtly nodded as he held the mace out to him, "You're the owner of that mace until its original owner wants it back. That is where my favor comes in. I need you to find the owner."

Fate took the mace in his hand and glanced down at it before looking back up, "You wish for me to find Hawkgirl? Pray tell, where would I locate her?"

Batman was silent for a moment before he spoke, "I've been trying to track her. It hasn't been easy and I didn't expect it to be. Shayera knows how to stay hidden apparently. I can give you a roundabout location. None of us know anything about Nth metal like she does. She'll be able to educate you about that mace and how it works."

"I see your point," Fate stated. "Though I can tell there is something else to this."

"I want to make sure she's okay. No one has seen or heard from Shayera in the past six weeks."

"I can see why you're concerned then."

"Not concerned," Batman insisted. "Just cautious. Laying low was never Shayera's forte."

"I'm quite surprised that you would go out of your way to try to seek her out considering what occurred."

"She's still a good friend despite everything that happened," Bruce stated. "I don't turn my back on those I care for."

Fate nodded, "I see. I believe we'll strike an accord then. I shall join your Justice League and search for Hawkgirl. Where was her last known location?"

"I last tracked her near the Virginia mountains. There was a reported apartment fire there a week ago and a young boy that was saved claimed that Hawkgirl rescued him. My guess is that she's still in that general area. When she left Gotham she apparently stuck close to the east coast. Any sightings of a Thanagarian have been concentrated between New York and Virginia. My guess is that she's going in circles not knowing where to go."

"And what do you wish for me to do once I find her?"

Batman turned to leave and simply glanced over his shoulder, "Keep her safe and help her. Also, as far as Shayera should know, I was never here. She doesn't need to know how you got her mace. Just that you have it."

"Very well," Fate agreed. "You have my word that Inza and I will do what we can for her once she is located."

Batman stood silently for a moment before he nodded and quietly said as he began to walk away, "Thank you."
