Being Fair
Rated: T (For Slight swears)
Characters: Cloud&Marlene
Setting: This doesn't really take place during the movies or the game...It's just everyone celebrating Christmas! I also thought It'd be cute to add in a little family moment between these two! Enjoy! I may also make another christmas one-shot for the heck of it! :D
"Cloud! Cloud! Cloud!"
Cloud looked up from the Fenrir, that he was currently waxing at the moment. His mako infested eyes watched the little girl run over to him, her big brown eyes were as bright as materia. She was smiling widely, and in her little hands held a clay motorcycle that looked very similar to the Fenrir itself.
"Yes, Marlene?" Cloud asked arching a brow at her in bafflement, since she was wearing her Christmas dress even when Christmas wasn't till tomorrow, but then Cloud remembered at dinner yesterday that all Marlene talked about was her new Christmas dress until Tifa couldn't take it anymore and she finally gave into Marlene's liking.
It wasn't like Tifa to stress so easy, but Cloud assumed it was all because of the holidays. For the past few weeks, Tifa was hardly home because she was out late shopping with Yuffie and Aeris and didn't come back until everyone was already asleep, and Cloud hated falling asleep without her warmth and sweet scent.
"I made this for you in school yesterday! It was supposed to be your Christmas present but I couldn't wait another day to give it to you! I asked Tifa at least a dozen times before she finally said yes!" The girl ranted, jumping up and down excitedly.
Cloud awkwardly messaged the back of his neck, not really sure how to respond. He was never really good with people, or socializing, and he was awful when it came to presents. It took him at least two and a half weeks to think of a present for Zack! Zack was his best friend and the most easy-going guy in Midgar!Fortunately, Tifa shopped for the kids and Aeris helped Cloud with Tifa's gift...but now...
It was Cloud's turn to except gifts.
"It's suppose to be of the Fenrir! It took me a long...long time to finish it but at least I got it done before Christmas!" Marlene squealed with joy as she held out the little bike towards Cloud who slowly took it from her with a gloved hand.
"Well..." Marlene started impatiently. "Do you love it!?"
Cloud studied the little clay replica of the Fenrir, and he was impressed. For a five-year old, she was extremely talented with ceramics. He looked down to give her a small nod.
"It's very good, thank you Marlene." He patted her head with his free hand causing her to giggle.
Cloud felt his lips quirk slightly as he set his new present down on one of the shelfs in the garage that held most of his tools, now he could have something to lighten his mood when he had troubles with the Fenrir.
"You're welcome,Cloud! So where's my gift?"
Cloud turned to face Marlene who looked up at him with innocent eyes, her hands folded together out in front of her. Looking like a little Angel.
"Huh?" Cloud raised his eyebrow again.
"Well...I gave you your gift early...and it would only be fair if I could have one of mine early too! Don't you think?"
Cloud scratched his spiky head. Trying to think of a good excuse, since Marlene was ever so rarely to fool.
"Well...Santa hasn't came yet..."
Marlene giggled and shook her head. "I meant a present that you and Tifa got for me, silly!"
Oh Damn, Cloud thought to himself sighing loudly.
Marlene waited patiently, blinking at him innocently making it twice as hard for Cloud to say no.
"Tifa...wouldn't be happy..." Cloud said quickly avoiding Marlene's adorable and pleading gaze, but that's when he felt her little arms warp around his waist in a tight hug, he tensed slightly and looked down at her puzzled.
"Please Cloud! We're being fair here!" Marlene cried out, looking up at him.
No pouty face, no pouty face. Cloud said to himself mentally, and as if reading his mind, Marlene stuck out her lips, giving him one of her pouty-faces. He couldn't resist.
With a sigh he dropped her arms from his waist and walked over to the back of the Fenrir to pull out a box wrapped in fairy-wrapping paper. Marlene squealed and hugged him once more before she tore threw the wrapping paper.
Cloud could only watch her with a small smile. He might be blunt, he might be hard to read, and sometimes, he might be motionless...but he could never...ever resist Marlene's pouty-faces...and he was doing the right thing!
He was being fair!
