Tifa&Cloud Marlene&Denzel
Summer Camp
Denzel watched Tifa with anxious eyes as she dropped a few of his polo t-shirts neatly into his suitcase. He started summer camp tomorrow with Marlene and he wasn't as thrilled as she was about it.
"Tifa?" Do I really have to go?" Denzel asked softly.
Tifa looked up from his suitcase.
"Well, nobody's forcing you to go. However, Cloud and I encouraging that you do. It will be lots of fun." Tifa replied, looking down at the young boy.
"How do you know?" he asked.
Tifa smiled and sat down at the edge of his bed and patted the spot next to her.
"Come sit." She says, patting the spot next to her.
Denzel nods quietly and obliges.
"What's making you so nervous? Hmm?"
Tifa ran a hand through the boys shaggy hair gently as she spoke.
"Its just I'm not sure if I'll be okay, you know...being away from home that long?"
"For two weeks?" Tifa confirmed.
Denzel nodded. "It's different staying over a friends house for one night. but at a camp for two weeks?" The boy sighed.
Tifa nodded "You're right, it's a huge change. But it will be a new experiencing, and if you don't like it you don't have to go again. And you know that Marlene will be with you. So you're not going to be completely by yourself." Tifa reassured.
"That's true. So if I don't make any friends I have Marlene."
"What makes you think that you won't have any friends?" Tifa asked.
Denzel shrugged. "What if the kids are mean!?"
"Then you call me and put me on the phone. I will tell them that they're idiots for not being your friend."
That made Denzel smile.
"Thanks Tifa." He wrapped his arms around her waist in a big hug.
Tifa smiled and pulled the young boy close to her.
"I honestly don't think it'll come to that. But if it does, you know who to call."
"Can I call Cloud too?" Denzel's eyes lit up.
Tifa laughed at the boys enthusiasm.
"Of course you can call Cloud, but we all know how good he is at answering his phone." Tifa rolled her eyes making Denzel laugh.
So what do you say? Want to help me pack the rest of your suitcase?"
Denzel nodded. "Lets do it!"
Sometimes all it takes is to tell a loved one whats on your mind.
Denzel was awaken by his alarm the next morning. He could feel his heart flutter in his chest.
Today was the big day. The first day at camp. First days are always nerve wracking, as Cloud told him last night at dinner.
"MARLENE! DENZEL!"
Tifa called from downstairs.
"Coming Tifa!" Denzel replied in a groggy voice, he kicked the blankets off him and got himself up and out of bed.
He changed out of his pjs and into the cargo pants and blue polo shirt TIfa had set out for him. He knew for sure Marlene was still asleep. Lately she's been having a hard time going to sleep (too much tv before bed?) and waking up.
"Good morning, Denzel!" Tifa greeted once he stepped foot in the bar.
Tifa set a plate of waffles in front of him.
"Good morning, thank you Tifa."
Tifa nodded.
"MARLENE! ARE YOU AWAKE!?" Tifa shouted.
"No, but I am." a deep voice came from the stairs.
Denzel looked over to see a half awake Cloud.
"Morning." He muttered, he made his way over to the coffee pot.
"She really needs to stop watching so much Paw Patrol before bed." Tifa muttered as she left the room and disappeared, up the stairs to wake Marlene. Denzel ate his breakfast quietly waiting paitently for Cloud to be finished with his first cup of coffee before he could talk to him.
Cloud took the seat next to him and drank his coffee quietly, as Marlene trotted down the stairs with Tifa behind her.
"Finish up your breakfast guys so we can get going!" Tifa said, pouring herself a cup of coffee.
Marlene took the other seat next to Denzel to eat her waffles.
"What will you and Cloud do for two whole weeks without us?"
Cloud and Tifa exchanged a smirk.
"I'm sure we'll think of something." Tifa replied.
