Chapter nine repost

(Mid-day, the Outpost, the day after the Jet Alone crisis)

"Sabotage?! Are you sure that's what you were told, Shinji?" asked Kendrix from her work station, examining the optic he cut off during his last fight with Mantor.

"That's what that Hornet monster said. Of course, I don't think it's true, but it's a small possibility," said Shinji.

"Even if it's true, who would gain anything from sabotaging the Jet Alone?" Kendrix asked.

"I'm more concerned about what those two bug monsters took while I was busy preventing a nuclear disaster, that Hornet creature mentioned something about plasma."

"I can look into it. Japan Chemical Industries must have been working on some side projects that got put on the back burner in favor of the Jet Alone. And we can subscribe to the theory that Hornet, Mantor, and whoever created Steelsting were responsible for the string of robberies to that have occurred lately."

Shinji nodded at that.

"With NERV's MAGI computer linking into ours, we should know what was stolen, right? By the way, how are you fitting into NERV? I figure it must be tough since you're an American, and Americans are a rare find in Japan these days, especially one with very high-level computer skills and science knowledge from outer space." said Shinji.

"It's fine. Of course, I have to keep my head low to avoid showing how good I really am, and the rest of the staff have been very friendly to me. It's just like my first week on Terra Venture. It was one of Commander Stanton's advisors who recognized my talents and recruited me."

"I met him back on Mirinoi. He's a good man, and obviously a good father to his daughter."

"Yeah, the staff's main advice to me above all is to stay out of the commander's sight. He's a scary man," said Kendrix, causing Shinji to scoff.

"Maybe scary to everyone else in NERV, but not to us; remember, we've been up against monsters and aliens much scarier than him and beaten them all the same."

Kendrix turned back to her work station to continue examining the cybernetic optic. She proceeded to connect it to a series of wires and linked it up to the monitor. The images came on in rows, although they were blurry.

"This may take a while," said Kendrix.

"Alright, I've got to go in for another dumbass sync test. Call me when you've got something," said Shinji, walking out the door, leaving the woman alone.

The former Pink Galaxy Ranger started looking over the rows of blurred images at random, hoping to find a clue to whoever or whatever created Steel Sting and the mantis monster.

Kendrix scrolled through the images, blurry as they were, one image, a little less blurry than others, caught her eye. She went about cleaning it up and zooming in, narrowing her eyes as she typed so that the image became more and more clear. Kendrix's eyes widened.

"No, by the galaxy, it can't be!" Kendrix whispered.

(With Shinji)

In route to the train station that would take him to NERV, Shinji had quickly found himself in a precarious situation. He was surrounded by the same thugs from Tagara high school, only this time, they brought someone with them. He was tall and muscular, with a military-style haircut. He wore a black and white school uniform and stared at Shinji with a passive expression. Shinji, for the most part, had kept calm, darting his eyes from side to side, preparing himself should they make the first move.

"Is this the one?" spoke the tall, muscular boy.

"Yeah, that's him, Okubo," a tall boy with buck teeth answered.

"He's from Tokyo-3 JR High school," a lanky boy with pointy hair said.

"This punk had the nerve to interfere in our business," another one spoke, wearing chain bracelets.

"He clearly doesn't know who we are," said a portly boy with short hair.

"He'll know now. The name is Okubo Itskui from Tagara high, and you messed with my classmates, punk. No one does that without paying the price."

Shinji did not blink; he kept his eyes on the tall student, now identified as Okubo. The tall boy stepped forward, towering over Shinji. The boy himself wouldn't flinch; he just stood his ground. Okubo just smirked and shoved Shinji to the ground with one arm, much to the delight of his classmates. But to Okubo's surprise, Shinji didn't show signs of being hurt or the least bit phased. He merely smirked.

"You're big, fought bigger," said Shinji with a cocky grin as he got back up.

The young defender threw a straight right cross on Okubo's jaw, staggering him. Okubo retaliated with a few shots of his own, much to the delight of his fellow school mates.

Then he grabbed Shinji in a tight headlock, but the boy elbowed him in the stomach and broke free. Shinji ducked a wide swing, then another, and then delivered a hard wheel kick to the ribs of Okubo, causing him to go down on one knee.

"You'll pay for that!" Okubo growled.

Obuko charged at Shinji, swinging left and right at him, who dodged with ease.

'The trick with larger opponents is to always use their own momentum against them.' Shinji thought, ducking another punch.

Shinji kneed him in the gut and followed it up with an elbow and a double forearm to the side of the face.

"Ugh!" Okubo groaned in pain.

Shinji, through his side peripheral vision, could see the train heading his way as he stood near the edge of the platform and thought to end this quickly.

Okubo rushed at him to make the grab for Shinji, only for him to outmaneuver the taller boy and nearly went over the edge onto the track, of course, he would have if Shinji hadn't grabbed onto the back of his shirt. With a heave, the boy tossed the older boy back to his school mates as the train made its stop.

"It's been fun, but I gotta jet." Shinji simply said and immediately boarded the train and the doors shut.

The other boys rushed to the doors a bit too late and proceeded to bang on the door, shouting at Shinji, who merely smirked and waved bye-bye.

(Ten minutes later, NERV HQ)

Shinji had walked into a reprimand from Misato for almost being late, in which he countered nonchalantly that he was here on time and it was good enough. Misato didn't take that too well, stating the need for punctuality in case of an attack.

Shinji merely shrugged and went to get changed into his plug suit to get the test over with. Meeting up with Rei, they walked together in silence to the cages, while Rei glanced at her fellow pilot every few seconds until they reached the cages.

Beginning the test, Ritsuko noted that his starting points were lower than last time, but they picked up in a minute.

A few hours had passed and Shinji and Rei were finally finished with the tests. He headed back to the locker room to change into his clothes. He walked out of the locker room and into the common area, where Misato had once again approached him and said that he and Rei would be heading to a facility to look at the developing weapons for the Evas, much to Shinji's dismay since he wanted to patrol the city in case Mantor and Hornet appeared again.

The trio set off by helicopter to the Matsushiro facility an hour later, as they left NERV, and proceeded as normal until…

BOOOM-BOOOM!

The alarms blared to life and all personnel began to panic. The explosions happened simultaneously in both the Unit-00 and Unit-01 cages. The emergency sprinkler system kicked in, dousing the fires and the doors were sealed off, as per emergency protocol.

As this was happening, a large, purple, humanoid creature with spider legs on each bicep emerged from the darkness, cackling madly.

"Humans are so easy. One or two explosions, here and there, and they run around in circles." Tarantulas cackled to himself

"But now to the matter at hand. Moldarach needed a sample of these machines they call Evangelions. Ask and you shall receive, as the humans say, hehheeee."

Tarantulas proceeded to change shape, transforming into a large, purple spider, minimizing himself, and crawled back up into the vent from where he came.

The alarms continued to blare and the red lights kept flashing. It wasn't long before he was above one of the cages of the Evas. Peering out the vent blinds, he spotted a large, one-eyed bio-mech that looked like it was undergoing maintenance and a new paint job.

Deciding that it would do, Tarantulas dropped down on a string of purple web, just near the head and neck. Taking out a large syringe, he pierced between the unarmored parts and began to draw liquid into the syringe.

"Hmmm…interesting," he mused, looking at the reddish liquid.

The sprinkler system had immediately shut off, meaning that the fires were out and the emergency protocol was ending. Tarantulas quickly crawled back up his web and closed the vent door.

"This will prove very useful for my own research later on," he cackled.

(Matsushiro Facility)

"What? Are you sure that's what happened?!" Misato demanded over her cell phone while on a platform with the First and Third Children.

"Well, as long as the situation was handled and no one was hurt, we'll chalk it up to a minor accident until an investigation can begin to determine the true cause. Right, I understand. Keep me posted."

With that, Misato hung up the phone and sighed, regretting picking this time to leave Headquarters.

"What has happened?" asked Rei.

"Spontaneous fires in both the Eva cages, but, fortunately, the situation was quickly contained, no one was hurt, and no damages occurred to either Eva." answered the captain.

"Gee, that's a shame," muttered Shinji, looking over the side of the platform to the lower levels.

Misato gave an irritated glare at the boy for that quip towards the Evas, while Rei asked, "Do you know what has caused the incident?"

"No, it might be just a malfunction in the wiring or something. They were applying additional power to the cages in the event of an attack."

'Somehow, I doubt that,' Shinji thought, feeling it could be more than coincidence.

The large platform reached its stop and the trio made their way off. They began to take in the sights of the armaments that were in the process of being built for the Evas, Each weapon, each gun specifically made for each unit. Rei looked around in wonder while Shinji was outright disinterested, seeing that he had seen far more advanced weaponry tech on distant planets, like KO-35 and Dekata 5.

His disinterested expression was quickly replaced with a look of surprise when he saw a large blade that wasn't another prog knife, hanging above them. It looked like a large sword. Very similar to the…

BOOOM!

A sudden explosion rocked the northwest section of the facility, injuring several dozen personnel and destroying some heavy construction equipment. Alarms sounded off as the personnel began to evacuate. Then, from out of the smoke, a large figure emerged, revealing itself to be a large, cybernetic, mutant, mantis-like creature, and one that Shinji recognized from yesterday.

"So many humans to destroy, so little time," Mantor exclaimed, activating his new optic eye.

He shot out red laser beams, destroying some metal crates, then again at the personnel, causing a wave of sparks and fire sending them running for the exit. Misato cursed her stupidity for not bringing her firearm with her today. Shaking herself back to focus, her main priority was to get the children to safety, or rather child, since Rei was the only one standing right next to her.

"Rei, where did Shinji-" Misato started to say, but then saw him rushing towards the people who tripped over in the chaos and helping them to their feet."

"SHINJI!" she shouted. "GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!"

But Shinji didn't listen or didn't care to listen. His only concern was getting the people to safety, helping them to the exit that Mantor made. He carefully picked some of them up, one by one.

Mantor was still destroying everything in sight, cutting down support beams. Out of the corner of his organic eye, he saw a group of people huddle to back into the corner near a blocked door, so he started to stalk menacingly towards them, enlarging his twin blades.

"There is no escape," Mantor said evilly.

"Hii-Yah!" Shinji shouted, performing a leaping, roundhouse double-kick at Mantor, forcing him to stumble backward, away from the people.

"Opmh." grunted Mantor.

He looked at his attacker in surprise. A little human boy just attacked him from behind, a mere human child. If his mistress found out about this, then he would be humiliated. Mantor growled angrily as the boy ushered the group to run away and got into a fighting stance.

"You shouldn't have done that, brat! Now, I will tear you to pieces." Mantor growled, enlarging his blades.

"Come on!" Shinji taunted, showing no fear.

"Is he insane?!" Misato exclaimed, not believing that the boy was actually facing off against a mutant monster bigger than him.

"Possibly," Rei answered, staring at Shinji facing off against the creature.

"Come on," Shinji taunted again.

Mantor obliged by swiping at Shinji, who narrowly ducked by bending backward, then corkscrew twist-flipped another swipe. Meanwhile, the group that Mantor had trapped managed to flee, Shinji kept avoiding swipe after swipe, much to the cybernetic monster's frustration.

"Rargh! Stand still!"

Mantor fired an eye laser blast at a stack of metal crates behind Shinji, making them explode behind him, blowing the boy back.

BOOM!

"Ugh!" Shinji grunted, rolling onto the ground.

Looking up, he saw an untouched hallway to his left; apparently, Mantor missed it in the middle of his rampage.

"Time to even the odds," Shinji said to himself.

"You're braver than most, however-"

CREAK!

A large support beam suddenly started to come down, and Shinji quickly rolled out of the way as it came down in between the two, kicking up a thick massive cloud of dust.

"SHINJI!" Misato shouted.

"IKARI!" Rei equally cried out, feeling fear for someone for the first time in her life.

Mantor turned around, thinking the human pest was squashed, and resumed his attack, unaware of the color of green that just flashed down the dark, vacant hallway. He targeted both Rei and Misato with his cybernetic eye as he prepared to fire.

Zap-Zap!

"GHA! What?" Mantor groaned, being hit from behind.

Out from the smoke appeared the black, armored warrior known as the Magna Defender, with his blaster in hand, cape fluttering behind and him ready to put an end to Mantor's destruction.

"Magna Defender!"

"You should have stayed your hole bug." stated Shinji, aiming his blaster at him.

'Mantor, he's taken the bait, now bring him to me.' Deceptica's voice communicated to her minion through a mental link.

"As my mistress commands," he said, suddenly popping out his wings and grabbing Shinji.

"What are- Gah!"

His sentence was cut short as he was hefted out of the facility and into the air. All the personnel, including Misato and Rei, all watched as the monster carried their savior off into the air, wondering where they might be going.

"Struggle all you want, I will not let go," Mantor said, feeling his adversary struggle. "We're going-"

"For a short ride," Shinji interrupted, firing his blaster, shooting through his organic midsection.

"Gah!" Mantor shouted in pain.

The pain was so intense for Mantor that he felt his grip weakening on the Defender as he lowered several feet into the air, feeling weaker and weaker as the green substance was leaking out of him from the waistline.

"This is my stop- Yah!" Shinji shouted, breaking free and falling from the sky.

Effortlessly, he landed on the ground and stood to his full height while Mantor crash-landed on the ground, groaning in pain. Shinji quickly rushed over to see him, struggling to get up. Looking up at the armored defender, he pointed his blaster at his head, fully intent on finishing him off, here and now.

"Now, start talking! Who created you?!" Shinji demanded.

"I did." a smooth metallic feminine voice rang out

"Huh?"

Zap-Zap-Zap!

Shinji turned around and jumped out of the way, in the nick of time to avoid incoming laser fire. Missing him and hitting Mantor instead, and effectively destroying him. Aiming his blaster, a figure appeared from the shade of the largest tree.

This mysterious newcomer seemed to be a half-cybernetic/half-organic femme bot dressed in black with spider legs protruding from her back (again, think of Deceptica as a mix of Airachnid from Transformers Prime and Nether World Empress Kitana from MKX, basically Kitana's costume and Airachind's, armor and spider legs), standing several feet away from him.

Shinji remained on alert as Hornet suddenly appeared in a flash of light right next to her, flanking her right. Then, another flash appeared and a large, purple spider creature appeared on her left.

"Magna Defender, we meet at last," she said.

"Identify yourself!" Shinji demanded.

"I am Deceptica! And you will bow to me!" Deceptica shouted, flexing her fingers into sharp talons.

Deceptica fired a powerful stream of lightning at Shinji, electrocuting him, penetrating his armor.

"Gargh!" the Defender shouted in pain, getting down to a knee.

"Ha-Ha-Ha," the femme bot laughed evilly, seeing him in pain.

Shinji tried to take the pain as best could, trying to make it to his feet, but suddenly she stopped, leaving his armor smoking and him still on a knee.

"Know this, Magna Defender, this is only the beginning and soon this world will be mine!" she declared, flexing her fist.

With that, the trio disappeared in a flash of light while Shinji struggled to his feet, looking at the spot where the trio disappeared.

(Ten Minutes later)

Shinji had made it back to the Matsushiro Facility as fires began to settle. He snuck up from the hillside of the large building, making it seem like he was coming out of the building.

The military was already here cordoning off the area while the fire crews were containing the fires. Makeshift medical tents were set up to by the paramedics to tend to the wounded. Shinji walked among the row of tents, his thoughts centered on his newly-revealed enemy, Deceptica. Sitting down on an open cot, he sighed, rubbing the back of his neck as if had a cramp in his neck.

'Deceptica, was she the danger the first Magna Defender was trying to warn me about?' Thought Shinji.

"Ikari!" a monotone voice said.

From his left, he saw Rei walking up to him.

"Hey," Shinji greeted sheepishly.

"You're safe. We had thought that you had…"

"I've been in tough situations before," her fellow pilot replied.

"It is good that you are safe," Rei said, "Captain Katsuragi is-"

"Both concerned and pissed off at you!" Misato finished for Rei, her tone very angry, walking up to the pair.

"Uh-oh."

"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! Taking on a mutant monster alone. ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF?! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Misato shouted for all to hear.

But to her surprise, Shinji remained calm, unfazed by her outburst. Then replied, "Is it any different from what you and everyone else at NERV does, sticking me in that giant tin can and sending me to face the Angels?"

"It is different, because when you're in the Eva, we can at least pull you out if the situation becomes extreme. What you did was reckless and could have cost you your life. You're lucky that Magna Defender guy showed up when he did before he was carried off by that creature."

'Talk about embarrassing, and if Damon or Kai were here, I wouldn't be living that one down for a while,'

"The Magna Defender, captain?" Rei inquired. "Was that the one who helped me after the 5th Angel attack?"

"Yeah, Rei, he was the one who helped you out of Unit-00 when the plug malfunctioned, and brought you back," Misato informed.

"Does he work for NERV?" asked the First Child, getting a shake of the head no.

"We don't know who he is or where he comes from, or whose side he's really on. He just shows up and then disappears," answered Misato.

Rei started to remember that night; at first, she thought she saw brief images of the commander and then Shinji, then a blurred, horned figure.

"As for you, young man-"

"Hey!" a voice called out.

The trio turned to see a large, muscular man with spikey, blue hair walked up to the trio. His frame dwarfed Misato, and he wore a beige uniform, signifying he was a worker, his name tag read "Akihiro".

"Lay off the kid! He saved our lives," he said.

"Excuse me!? You need to mind your own business." the purple-haired woman shot back.

"I think, I'll make it my business now, and anyone who isn't afraid to stick his neck out for others is okay in my book. What the hell were you doing huh? Running and hiding like you do underground while these two are fighting those monsters?" Akihiro pointed to Shinji and Rei, much to their surprise.

Misato tensed at that, and the large man caught that and continued on.

"Yeah, I may have just started here, but I know who you NERV bastards are. You select random kids into piloting those machines, to fight your battles for you, with no regard if they say no."

"Excuse me, Captain Katsuragi. You have a call from a Gendo Ikari, regarding the recent events that just took place." A random MP interrupted from behind.

"Ugh, fine. You two head back to the chopper," ordered Misato. "I'll be there after I give my report."

"Yes, captain," responded Rei.

"We'll talk more of your actions when we return to HQ, pilot," she said sternly to Shinji, walking off.

Shinji remained expressionless as she walked away.

"Hey, kid."

Shinji looked up to see the man named Akihiro walk up to him. To his surprise, he held out his hand to the boy.

"Thank you for saving my life," he praised while Shinji shook it. "I was in the group that was huddled in the corner by that monster. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for you."

"Think nothing of it," Shinji simply said, shaking his hand. "And you're right about NERV, specifically about the commander. I would suggest you keep anyone you know, friends, or family members, as far away from NERV as possible."

The man nodded and walked off, leaving the two kids alone. Rei looked at her fellow pilot, finding herself to be impressed and more intrigued by him, his willingness to put his own life at risk for others was something she started to admire.

"I-I will meet you at the helicopter, Ikari," said Rei, walking off, unsure of what to say.

"Rei," said Shinji, stopping her.

"Yes," the girl answered.

"You can call me Shinji," he said, his Morpher letting out a silent beep.

"I will…Shinji." Rei said, walking off to the helipad.

After the First Child walked off, Shinji looked to see if he was completely alone before answering his Morpher.

(Undisclosed location)

"This is indeed an unexpected complication," SEELE 01 stated. "The appearance of this Magna Defender was unsettling enough, but now the appearance of these insect monsters."

"Yes, it is enough we must deal with the Angels, but now this Magna Defender and these creatures, they could prove a major threat to our goal," said SEELE 03.

"I agree, we must deal with them, immediately. We can take no chances," said SEELE 04.

"How can we? We don't know the first thing about them, least of all this Magna Defender. He may prove just as dangerous to our plan as the Alliance or the Power Rangers were before they disappeared." said SEELE 05.

"At least they are gone. They've become nothing but myths and legends, their names lost, thanks to Second Impact," stated SEELE 02.

"Indeed, but the Magna Defender is not, and we must find a way to either control or destroy him!" said SEELE 04.

"Patience, we must have patience. Ikari is beginning to look into the Magna Defender as we speak, so until such a time comes, we let Gendo deal with him," SEELE 01 stated.

"And if he can't?"

An image of a large, red, unmarked, flower-like capsule appeared in the center of the room, as if answering the question.

"If it comes to that, then we'll send in our own asset to deal with him, in the event Ikari cannot." SEELE 01 answered.

(Three days later, the shipping docks)

The NERV command staff, comprised of Misato Katsuragi, Ritsuko Akagi, Kouzo Fuyutsuki and Gendo Ikari, was all on the port seaside of the city, along with a large, heavily-armed security detail. They were awaiting a cargo ship of reinforced titanium alloy and with their own security onboard because of the recent events that have occurred in Tokyo-3 with the Angels and mutant insect attacks.

Unbeknownst to them, the Third Child, having received the Intel from Kendrix two days ago, arrived at the docks to stake out the area from afar, in case Deceptica or her minions tried to make an appearance, making sure to stick close to the other ports separate from the designated area to avoid being spotted. Shinji continued to observe from afar, but nothing was out of the ordinary.

"Why are we here again, Ikari?" Fuyutsuki asked in an annoyed tone.

"The Committee wanted to us personally to oversee this delicate shipment of new alloys. Since recent heists that have occurred all throughout the city by these insect creatures, and more recently, the incident at Matsushiro, they do not want to take any chances." Gendo replied with his arms crossed behind him.

"So couldn't they have sent the JSSDF to guard it themselves? If these insect monsters appear, it's very unlikely our security forces can contend with them."

"Indeed, so but-"

"Excuse me, Commander, Sub-Commander, the ship is nearing port, and all security detail reports, everything is clear, and the crews are ready to move the alloy off," Misato said, interrupting the pair.

"Good, have the detail do one more sweep around the perimeter, then begin the operation as soon as the ship docks," Gendo ordered.

"Yes, sir," Misato responded, walking back to Ritsuko, allowing the two men to continue their conversation.

"You seem a lot more tense than usual, Misato. Worried about those bug creatures?" asked Ritsuko.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't. It's bad enough we have to deal with the Angels, but now these bug creatures coming out of nowhere…and Shinji." her friend sighed.

"What about him?"

"That boy just charged in and faced off against that robot mantis thing, with no regard for his own safety. While I admire his bravery, what he did was reckless."

"I'm sure it was, but maybe he was just trying to help in his own unique way," said Ritsuko. "I'm surprised you don't see it as a good thing."

"Who says I don't? It's just that we can't afford to have him take such unnecessary risks."

HONK!

The sound of the cargo ship making it to port cut off any further conversations about the pilot of Unit-01. The crew began to get to work on getting the containers off the ship. They began to work swiftly, loading the alloys onto the truck. Fuyutsuki and Gendo stepped closer to observe the operation, making mental notes on how everything was progressing on schedule.

"Looks like I worried over nothing," Fuyutsuki said.

WIRRRR PHET!

In in a flash of dark green light, a group of twelve Insectoids (formerly Spiderdrones) appeared. They began shooting green laser bolts at the workers, causing them to scatter in a panic, causing sparks to burst everywhere.

Then, they began to break off, one half began attacking the crew and the other half began destroying the equipment. Misato had the foresight to arm herself today and began firing at the closest Insectoid, but her bullets ricocheted off it. Meanwhile, Shinji was making his way to the danger zone, getting behind a stack of crates.

"Alright, time for pest control. Magna Power!" Shinji called out, changing him into his alter ego.

"Um, Misato…" Ritsuko spoke in a frightened, shaky tone.

"Yeah, we need to run," the captain agreed, and they quickly ran away to higher ground.

Meanwhile, Gendo and Fuyutsuki were near the cargo ship, ducking for cover. They watched as people were tripping and falling over due to the sudden attack, getting injured. One crate of cables fell on a man, tangling him up, which happened to be near the pair.

"Help me!" cried the man. "Someone help!"

The aged sub saw the man and then looked back at the attacking Insectoids, then back at the struggling worker.

"Sensei! We must be on our way." Gendo said coldly.

"That man needs help Ikari!" the old man said.

"Leave him, he is unimportant." Gendo urged, going the other direction.

"Please, don't! I-I- have a family." said the man in a scared tone, still struggling.

"Hang on, you'll be alright!" said Fuyutsuki, going over to help the man, while Gendo scoffed.

"Suit yourself."

While Gendo turned, he ran right smack dab into the black-clad armored warrior, the Magna Defender. A surprised look crossed his cold visage, only for a brief moment. Shinji could only look at his father in disgust, seeing him leave someone in need to die when he could have helped him.

"Pitiful coward," the defender whispered, loud enough for Gendo to hear while shoving past him, drawing his sword.

"Hold still."

SLICE-SLICE-SLICE!

And in three quick flashes, the cables were severed, freeing the man. Shinji helped him up, the man was grateful for his aid.

"Thank you," he said, running the opposite direction.

Shinji nodded and glanced at the sub-commander and said, "Get going. I'll take care of these annoying pests."

Without waiting for a word, Shinji quickly shifted his sword into blaster mode and started shooting at them, getting half the Insectoids that were attempting to either steal or destroy cargo.

They all turned towards him and attacked. Shinji shifted his blaster into sword mode, then he began cutting them down, vertically, horizontally, through the middle, right and left, from all sides, then the other half came around, shooting laser bolts. The defender dodged and deflected them right back.

"KRAH!" one cried, getting hit by a blaster bolt, followed by another.

Their numbers were beginning to dwindle as Shinji sliced the Insectoids down to the last one, and cut off its head. With his work now done, Shinji sheathed his sword and walked away from the area. Suddenly, the eyes of the last downed Insectoid began to light up, and a voice spoke out of it.

("Magna Defender! This is Deceptica! Impressive skills you showed today against my grunts. Savor your victory while you can. It may be your last. Dark times are approaching, Defender, and you cannot stop it! You cannot stop me!") Deceptica laughed.

In response to that, Shinji stabbed a dart into the head, silencing it for good.

"Our story is just beginning Deceptica, next time I'll be ready for you. " Shinji declared, clenching his fist before walking away.

Meanwhile, Gendo watched the armored defender with a glare on his face. Trying to come up with a way to control him for his scenario, and if that didn't work, he would kill him and find a way to take his powers.

End Chapter

Endnotes: Sorry, this a repost, of a chapter I accidentally crossed off. Where Shinji is introduced to Deceptica and her merry band. I know it's out of order, for that I apologize, the 11th chapter is being revised by my man TOAT . The poll on my profile is still up, although I was surprised everyone wanted me to stick to the original premise, Although I was hoping for 4, or 2 or 1, but if its what you ask for, you shall receive. I'm dealing with other things right now, cause of this blasted pandemic. Sorry about this, things have been going rough for me personally, and it affected my writing. Again sorry about this.
