The days going by seemed to be like a whirlwind with all the planning and appointments made. Paperwork stacked up along with official meetings. Sophia just added more coffee to her list. Yet, even if everyone was so busy, the atmosphere all around the city was joyous as the wedding date was coming closer. Merchants from all around were getting their stalls set up along with bards singing stories about how the future married couple met.
Chrom heard one of the songs, he had a few words to say about the story but seeing Robin laughing, he chose not to say anything. After their drunken night, Robin told Chrom a bit of her past, that she had regained some of her memories. The Exalt was shocked when he learned that she was his childhood friend Emi but became extremely embarrassed when Robin recited what Lissa said about him. Sophia had to use Frederick as support as the Exalt became a stuttering mess as his future wife just smiled at him.
Robin was called from time to time for modifications that needed to be done to her dress as well as picking out jewelry designs. As her Lady-in-Waiting, Sophia made sure everything was organized and kept on time. Of course, she didn't neglect her classes. Teaching was still the same as ever and Sophia was soon ready to have them move into the advanced things. It took a while but she finally finished translating her medical books and had printed copies done for her students. Of course, with word getting out of how much her students have been doing as well as her class, more students from The Church, Alchemy, and Magic Department had decided to join. She welcomed them with open arms.
Which has unfortunately now led to this...
"YOU ARE TAKING IN FAR TOO MANY STUDENTS AND TEACHING THEM BLASPHEMY !"
Martha and Ethan had emotionless expressions on their faces as Firotheus roared his words while Miriel only watched in silence as she sat between them. Sophia was silent as she had her arms crossed, listening to the man rant about her. Her class of once fifteen students was now a class of forty. Miriel was more than happy to provide her with a bigger room because students from all three departments were learning many very useful new things. Sophia let out a tired sigh as she spoke.
"Priest Firotheus, there is nothing wrong with me taking in more students. I am more than happy to teach those that want to learn. My classes are open to all, not just one. And let us not forget that it was agreed that you would not interfere nor criticize my teaching methods." Sophia said calmly as she held up one of her books.
"I am teaching my students skills that can save lives. That includes medical practices. I am the head of the Medical Corps and I will not be criticized or be told my teachings are blasphemy simply because you do not agree with my views." She said as she carefully watched all those in the council mutter to themselves.
Chrom and Robin were silent as they watched the exchange while Frederick was very good at hiding his emotions, his eye twitched.
"Agree with your views? Ha!" Firotheus said, "Your ways disturb The Teachings of Naga! Our duty as healers is to use the spiritual medium of magic to guide and heal! Not cutting open people!" He yelled and Sophia took a deep breath.
"Priest Firotheus, there are things MAGIC AND FAITH can not heal!" The loud gasp was heard all over yet Martha giggled, "Say whatever your want but this is the reality. I will continue to teach the way I do whether you like it or not." She hissed, "I swear you people...Valm knows who knows when they will try to invade Archean and you're concerned about my teaching methods?!" She growled which earned her multiple concern looks.
"How about you actually teach faith and white magic to your people instead of trying to pick me apart at every opportunity given?!" She slammed the book down on the table.
"Speaking of the invasions," Chrom's voice got everyone's attention, "Houses of Ylisse and Guest of Ferox, have you all gotten your reports regarding the military?"
"House Goneril of Ferox will be providing Wyvern Rider armor. Materials needed will be steel and shedded wyvern scales. The scales as infused into the armor to protect against arrows and fire." Lady Goneril said and as Duke Themis was looking through his papers.
"...What about magic stones?" Count Arbes said, "If I recall correctly, a new mine was recently discovered by that boy that has come to help at the County of Themis. Magic stones could be used to help those with weaker magic systems. Not to also mention the production of magic tools." He said and Duke Themis grumbled.
"It is brand new mine. We will not trade any magic stones until we confirm if it will bring profit! Don't forget, we also recently started trade with Plegai!" Duke Themis hissed and Chrom rubbed his eyes because already the arguments with the nobles were starting again.
"If I may speak." Martha spoke up, "I would like to propose an idea."
"Speak Martha," Chrom said and the woman smiled as she held up a silver crystal ball.
"I have been researching the Risen and the rise of monsters recently." She began, "As well as researching the history of Houses that are currently known to have brands." She saw a shift in serval of those houses, "Now before the pitchforks come at me, I have confirmed that there is indeed a connection between the rise of monsters and Risen." She threw the crystal ball in the air and made it shatter.
Projected images of men and women filled the air, many shocked. From the memories of a man holding his child to even that of an animal running around. Women greeted their loved ones and there were even images of their last moments in battle. It was a brief second before all the memories poured back into Martha's hands and created the crystal ball. Silence filled the room as she took a deep breath.
"As the head of the Alchemy Department and The Ylisse Funerlor Parlor, my job is to study the unknown and bring peace to the dead. What you just witness now are fragmented memories collected from men and women that were once human before they were turned to Risen." She said a she looked around, "The Magic Department and Alchemy Department have discovered a source of dark magic that is connected to the Risen and rise of monsters. I believe you all heard of The Labyrinth of Thabes?" She looked all around seeing many nods.
"But the Labyrinth of Thabes has been sealed away since the Age of the Divine Dragons." She turned to look at the one that spoke, "My daughter, you are suggesting that the temple has been unsealed?" Baron Albright said.
"Yes, I am saying that, Father." Martha narrowed her eyes as Frederick stood next to her, "The rise on the atrocities the Grimleal have done is only going to increase. Not only that, it has been confirmed by The Magic Department that there is a rise of dark and anti-magic in that place." She explained as murmurs filled the room.
"Martha," Robin spoke, "have you confirmed who will be going on the expedition?" The woman nodded.
"You can not be serious!" Lord Albright said, "The seal has been intact for over 5000 years! Why now of all times would it come apart?! This is just another one of your excuses again!" He said and Frederick's eyes darken.
"In Martha's defense, Uncle," Sophia had never heard Frederick's voice so cold, "you say this one of her games but she along with many others have made many contributions to Ylisse. Especially when those that fell during the battlefield. She guided them to peace and prepared the proper ceremonies for all. Her calculations along with Lady Miriel and Lady Sophia have never once been wrong. You do well to watch your words again since you haven't contributed anything since the passing of my father." He hissed and the entire room went silent.
Sophia didn't know why but for some reason she chose to place her hand on his shoulder. The act must have surprised him because he looked at her in shock.
"Breath." She said in a hushed tone and the knight took a deep breath and smiled softly before turning back to his uncle.
The Count had faced had turned red from anger, his hands balled to fist yet Chrom had to keep himself from smirking as he stood up.
"Martha." He made his presence known, "As the head of the Alchemy Department, you will be in charge of the expedition. Your goal, eliminate that magic source and find any information that will be useful in defeating The Grimeal. Is that clear?" He said and Martha gave him two thumbs up.
"With that done, the council is dismissed," Robin announced and slammed the hammer down.
"Wait, I am not done!" The priest said but one look from Chrom shut him up.
Sophia covered her mouth to hide the mocking smile on her face as she watched the man storm off with his group. Karma was so fun to watch.
"Sophia."
She turned and saw Frederick accompanied by Martha and Ethan. She couldn't help chuckle a bit as she placed her hand on her chin.
"That was a first hearing you speak so coldly. I've heard you speak coldly before but that was..." she coughed, "I have to admit you looked cool."
"Cool?" Frederick raised an eyebrow while Martha giggled mischievously.
"It's slang from my home. It's a way of saying...um..." she avoided eye contact, "Umm...forgot about."
"Oh no. I'm not letting this one go." Frederick took a step closer and leaned down a bit with a smile, "I am now very interested by what you meant by cool. I don't mind waiting till you speak." Sophia looked like a scared cat that jumped out of the water.
"I-I think I'm going to go." Sophia mentally slapped herself for stuttering but Frederick's bright smile said she wasn't going anywhere, that was until Martha chose to interrupt.
"Incoming. Father is on his way here." Her voice was void of emotions as they watched the Count come their way, behind him was one of his workers.
Count Albright was a man with spiky brown hair with some whites, he wore a black suit with black shoes and a cane he used to stabilize himself to walk. His gray eyes were filled with anger once he got to them.
"You two! You two know damn well to not speak to me in such a way! Frederick, how dare you to say I have not contributed anything to this war?! Especially when we had to fight those filthy Plegians." Count Albright growled, his butler was trying to calm him down.
"Father, while yes, you did once have your glory days when you contribute to the war," Martha shrugged her shoulders, "times have changed." Her gaze became half-lidded as the smile on her face faded, "You've been holding back on weapons we need for the military."
"I find that boy's idea foolish. Especially that woman he wants to marry." The Count huff which earned him multiple colds glared from everywhere.
His eyes then shifted to Sophia, who only cocked her head, "Ah, this must be The Witch."
"Excuse me?" Frederick raised an eyebrow while Sophia looked unamused, "Uncle, you may be the current head till December but I will not have you speak such way to The Future Queen's Lady-in-Waiting." He growled.
"Frederick." Sophia placed a hand on his arm with a smile, "Allow me to handle it." And she walked up.
"Good morning Old Man of House Albright. I see age is starting to catch up to you. I also see your knee caps are still in place while you use a cane. I'm surprised Martha and Frederick haven't kicked you in the shin yet." She smiled brightly yet a pin could be heard dropping from a mile away as silence and shock filled the place.
Count Albright was stupefied while Martha was the first to burst into a fit of laughter, slamming her hand on the wall multiple times, laughing and gasping for air because of what she had just witnessed. Frederick pinched the bridge of his nose but his lips twitched, trying to fight back the smile that wanted to form.
"H-How dare speak to me in such way you Witch?!" Count Albright roared before he turned to Frederick, "This is The Queen's Lady in waiting?! A foreigner with no manners and acts like a savage?!" He raised his hand to slap her.
The sudden movement made Sophia freeze, vivid memories of her mother raising her hand to slap her came into her mind suddenly. She didn't react like she usually would but the slap never came. The first thing she saw was silver-blue armor quickly standing in front of her, and the Count cursed at Frederick as he had a painful grip on his wrist.
"You dare raise your hand against her?!" Frederick snarled that even the Count began shivering in fear.
"Sophia! Sophia!" Martha went up to her, "She's in shock!"
"Snap out of it woman. Breath." Bryhildr's harsh voice turned soothing and calm, like a gentle friend.
Sophia took deep breaths as she snapped out of her shock, and smiled at them.
"I'm alright. I was just a bit surprised. A man who raised his hand against a lady is no man at all. All he does is go on a power trip to boost his fragile ego." She said and the Count snarled as Frederick let him go.
"This..." he glared at the group, "Isn't over." And away he left.
Sophia couldn't help but let go of a sigh of relief as she crossed her arms. The Count raising his hand brought bad memories. Her nails dug into her sleeve as she closed her eyes, taking deep breaths to calm herself.
"Are you alright?" She looked and saw Frederick look at her worried, "I apologize for my Uncle's behavior. He is...sigh...difficult."
"Sigh...I know that feeling." Sophia muttered.
" But seriously, I never thought I see anyone speak that way to my father! I thought I was the only one along with Chrom!" Martha giggled as she hugged the woman from behind, "Oya! Oya! I am so glad you are the Lady-in-Waiting of Ylisse."
"Ylisse will be well." Ethan chuckled, "Ah, I know this sudden but Lady Lysithea has requested your help with baking. The wedding is not far. You can just feel the excitement all over the air." He grinned and he and Martha excused themselves.
"Allow me to accompany you," Frederick said and Sophia chuckled.
"We're both just going to head to our offices to do more work." She grinned as they walked down the hallways, "But..." she stopped, turning to him with a small smile, "thank you for defending me."
"...Sophia, I apologize if I am stepping over a line but...this was the first time I've seen you freeze in fear." Frederick said and Sophia nodded, "Has...someone raised their hand on you before?"
Sophia was silent for a moment. So few know about her past and she honestly has not opened up to anyone about it. Perhaps a few like Lysithea, Iris, a few of the future kids, and Henry, but anyone else, no.
"The first step is always the hardest."
Panne's words rang in her mind as she took a deep breath and nodded.
"Shall we talk over tea?" She said and the knight nodded as they entered her office.
Of course, he locked the door to make sure no one interrupted them. Sophia waved her hand, making the teacups float to her table and warm up the water, then have the teapot serve them tea. Usually, she would make it herself but she was a bit out of it. They sat down from one another, a cart with a few pastries was set for them. Sophia stared at her cup for a while before she took a deep breath and looked at Frederick in the eye.
"My mother used to beat me and my half-siblings." Sophia muttered as she held her cup, "When my father passed away, I was too young to inherit my grandparent's dojo. Not only that, my aunt could not take me in due to financial issues and also because she didn't have enough room. My uncle passed away the same day as my father. Because of this...the only remaining relative I had left was my biological mother." She sighed as she looked at him and then back to her cup.
"My mother didn't want me but once she learned that I would inherit my grandparent's dojo, she decided to keep me. My teen years were a living nightmare. My half-siblings were also victims of her abuse. I would do what I could to physically protect them." She said and remained silent for a few seconds before she continued.
"Each year something happened. Weather it was financial issues to being beaten and even being looked down upon. It felt like the world was after me and my family. When I was 15, my aunt suddenly passed away. Now it was not just me, by my cousin, Iris. She was left orphaned. Again, the only relative was my mother. She also suffered abuse. Me being the oldest, I did everything I could to protect them. I took on jobs here and there, stole food, hid money to keep my mother from getting her hands on it. It was just one thing after another. We needed to survive." She muttered.
"My lowest was when I was sixteen. My mother was under influence of alcohol. She was going too fast on a device we call a car in my home. It's similar to a carriage but it is made of metal and it's faster than a horse." She explained as Frederick listened, "...She was going too fast and the car went out of control. It flipped six times, the car was destroyed. My mother, and my half-siblings...they didn't survive." Her eyes went dark, just for a moment, the green in them disappeared and only crimson remained.
"Sophia, do not force yourself to tell me more," Frederick said and the woman nodded as she took a deep breath, yet she flinched when she saw the tea in her cup boiling.
"M-My apologies." She quickly let go of it, "I let my emotions get the better of m—!" She froze when she saw he was his hand was extended to her.
He handed her a handkerchief. She hesitated, reaching out toward it but in the end, she accept. She looked up to the man, he wasn't looking at him with pity like so many did.
It was empathy.
"Feeling a bit lighter?" He asked and Sophia couldn't help but chuckle a bit as she nodded, her smile soft.
"Yes. I feel lighter." She smiled and Frederick felt his heart skip a beat, "Thank you for listening to me. You lent me an ear. If you ever wish to speak, I will lend you mine." She said and Frederick smiled softly.
"I...also apologize for stepping out of line but based on how cold your's and Martha's voices were, I can assume that you two do not have a good relationship with Count Albright." She said and Frederick sighed, nodding.
"I believe you have the right to know since my uncle offended you." Frederick coughed, "Originally, Martha was supposed to inherit the title Duchess Albright at the age of 25. However, we grew up in an era that alchemy was looked down upon, and...sigh, Uncle chose to have the title passed down to me. Martha wasn't angry, but her words to me were..." he never once forgot the emotional yes she held as she smiled.
"I pity you."
"Sigh...never mind that. Back to the subject, my father passed away during a pandemic that swept Ylisse. This was during the time the former Queen of Ylisse passed away. My mother is alive as well. After my father passed, my uncle took over as the head. In December, I will be becoming the new head. As for my uncle...he...he supported the former Exalt. My father even though he stood by the king, did voice his frustrations. Still, he stood by the former Exalt till the end, even if their ideas clashed. After all, House Albright is the Sheild of House Lowell." He sighed, "But we are its shadow. I originally was supposed to become the Director of the Ylisse Funeral Parlor but as I mentioned early, that changed." He sighed and took a sip of his drink.
"My Uncle's reaction when Martha first express she could hear things we could not was...not good. He believed she was hallucinating and told her that if she spoke of it again, it would not be good." He muttered.
"I'm guessing your uncle believed his daughter went insane." Sophia sighed and the knight nodded, "Well, that didn't last long. He became afraid of her."
"...What?" Sophia looked at him surprised, "Does this have something to do with her personality?"
"No." Frederick shook his hand, "It's more towards… a rare ability that only those of House Lowell inherited when someone with...the abilities of a Nightmare married into our family. I know Martha is a Nightmare." He frowned, "I do not agree with her choice of accepting that power but...sigh...As long as my uncle doesn't know she is one, she will be alright. But back to the subject."
"As The Head of Ylisse Funeral, it is her job to prepare the send-off ceremonies for those that have passed. She would prepare the bodies but on one particular funeral..." Honestly, it was one he never once forgot because of the commotion and drama that followed.
The memory was so vivid. A man had passed away from drowning in the river nearby and his body was found two days later but as the ceremony was going on. People were mourning when Martha suddenly walked up to the casket, her back facing them. He was a young knight in training back then and one of his assignments was to guard the funeral ceremonies but that day...
"Ara." Martha turned to the audience with a smile, "Will Lady Suna step up please?"
Confusion had filled the audience as the love of the man that drowned stepped up when suddenly Martha grabbed her wrist and pulled her sleeve up, revealing scratched and bruises. The woman screeched until her eyes met the girl, freezing in fear. Martha only smiled at her as she pointed to the woman's left side.
"Your love says, are you happy now that he is gone? Now you can live off his money. Are you happy with the men you hired to push me into the river?" She giggled at how terrified the woman was becoming, "Lady Suna, who knew you liked to murder."
"Jesus Christ..." Sophia gasped as she covered her mouth, "I'm going to assume an investigation was conducted after she said that." And Frederick nodded, "The woman was found guilty of hiring men to kill her lover."
"Because of this, my uncle tried to isolate Martha. That didn't work. She retaliated. My mother chose not to involve herself in anything. But, things improved when she met Albert. But that is a story for another time." He said as Sophia nodded.
"Another reason we don't get along with my uncle is because of his ideals. Many of them I rather not speak of." He huffed and Sophia nodded, "Sigh...Thank you for listening. I hope this cleared the air a bit."
"It's alright. And...thank you for trusting me." Sophia smiled softly and the knight became still for a moment before nodding.
"You are welcome."

The wedding was approaching fast and Sophia was still a single lady. Alm, Lucina, and the others had just arrived along with Anna's partner, Jake. Kellam was going with a friend, who she had yet to meet. So this meant...
"Forever alone ~" Anna sang and got a hard smack on the head by Sumia.
The closest people Sophia was to were Robin, Lysithea, Tharja, Anna, Sumia, and Cordelia. Currently, Robin was in the palace with Chrom discussing the finishing touches of the wedding. Lysithea was busy finishing up the last touches of the dessert menus with the palace chefs. Tharja was working with Miriel regarding the results that came about Yune's curse. So today, the ladies invited Sophia to an adult talk between them. Sully was of course invited along with Panne but both females had chosen to train. Also because they weren't interested in gossip. Mirabelle on the other hand was brimming with excitement when she was invited.
"Sophia is the only one without a partner. Whatever shall we do?" Mirabelle sighed as she dramatically placed her hand on her cheeks, closing her eyes, "Darling, would you like me to ask one of my cousins to be your partner for the wedding?"
Sophia, despite having had a smile on her face, was internally raging. But she kept her mouth shut as she picked up a scone to munch.
"No, I'm alright. I'll just take Yune with me. Plus, Dorothea the opera singer will be singing the wedding song." Sophia grinned as she remembered the scream of joy Dorothea unleashed in the morning a few weeks ago.
She woke up everyone in the dorm. Sophia was just glad she wasn't sleeping naked when the scream was unleashed because out of instinct she had run out of the room (along with a few others) with her weapon drawn. She munched on her cookie as the woman chatted away regarding their clothing and such. But especially regarding the time and place they would meet up altogether to get dressed. Of course, they would all be meeting in the palace to get dressed as well as making sure The Exalt doesn't get one peak of the bride till she walked down the carpet. Emmeyren would be walking down Robin because she has accepted Robin and wanted to welcome her to the family. Of course, magic will be used to hide Emmeyren's true appearance.
"Let's see..." Sophia muttered as she took out the mini notepad she carried all around with her, "We're set up to meet at 8 am to get dressed and such. Our dresses, make-up, accessories and such will all be there. Let's see what else..." Anna couldn't help but chuckle a bit.
"You've grown." Anna grinned, "Think you'll be able to hand the affairs for a while as Chrom and Robin are away on their honeymoon?"
"I won't be alone. I have you guys helping me as well." Sophia grinned, "But seriously, I am a bit clueless when it comes to ballroom dancing. An explanation please?" She asked and Cordelia spoke.
"It is a tradition that when the Exalt gets married, they have the first dance. It predates the Era of King Marth and Lady Caeda. It's said that the song was sung during their first dance as a married couple." Cordelia explained and Sumia gushed at just the thought of it.
"And the best part is the ending when The Exalt gets on one knee and presents a Gillias to their beloved and then they kiss, officially declaring that they are their Titania to Oberon!" Sumia squealed as she remembered when Gauis gave her the flower a few months ago.
Yes, they are engaged.
"Speaking of that, I should have someone check the flower arrangements one last time," Sophia muttered and right when the others were about to speak, footsteps were heard and the group turn to who was approaching them.

After a long thought, Frederick decided to do the impossible.
Ask a woman to be his partner. And that woman is the bluntest woman of all.
Sophia.
For the past weeks, he has been trying to come up with the courage to ask her to be his partner for the wedding but luck likes to spit at his face. There were moments he has tried to ask her but unfortunately, they were interrupted either by employees or others. It became obvious to Gauis that something was stressing out the knight. After inviting him to a few drinks along with Henry and Chrom, they finally got out of him.
"Oooohh..." Chrom covered his mouth in shock as Henry and Gauis used each other for support from laughing so much, "I am so sorry Frederick. I did not mean to interrupt the other day." The Exalt was looking for Frederick to speak to him regarding new reports.
He walked into his office because he saw the door open and saw Frederick about to say something. Chrom knew he interrupted something but he didn't think it was his friend asking Sophia to dance! That explained the foul mood the knight was in the rest of the day and was even extra hard on The Exalt.
"We keep getting interrupted or something happens!" Frederick groaned as Henry passed him a drink, "I can't believe I even used Yune to help me but that went down the drain."
Frederick had asked Yune to deliver a glaze lily to Sophia. In Ylisse, to gift a glaze lily is a form of asking, Will you go out with me?" Unfortunately, Sophia didn't know this.
"Ah, Yune. What a pretty flower."
"Mr. Frederick said to give this to you."
Unfortunately, Martha was also present when the girl delivered the flower and witnessed Sophia accept it but...
"Huh. You know, it's a good thing she brought this." Sophia said as she was observing the flower, "I recently looked up other uses of Glaze Lilies and found they could be used to make an aphrodisiac that can cause the user to become relaxed and a bit lucid." The woman smiled cheerfully at it, "But in small doses, it's the perfect sleeping medicine! Ah! Yune, please tell Frederick thank you for solving my sleeping problem!" The woman didn't see the look of utter disappointment Martha was giving her.
"BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Henry and Gauis were howling as Frederick told them what had happened.
Chrom looked at his friend in pity and patted him on the back as the knight slumped on the table. It has been difficult for him to get a moment with her. Ever since their talk two weeks ago, Sophia had been more open. Perhaps it was because she felt some sort of burden was lifted off her shoulders. Frederick sighed then took a sip of his drink. He doesn't want to admit but seeing Sophia every day brought joy and peace to him. It had been years since he felt that way. The two have not had the best start nor the best seconds meeting but over the past few months working with each other, they have learned a bit more of each other.
"I got a few ideas if you want to hear them." Henry grinned as he went to Frederick's left side, "Sophia doesn't know much about the traditions of Archanea because she's a foreigner. And remember, to her, Valm, Archanea, and other nations were fairy tales and legends in her home. Of course, those stories aren't going to include every little detail of our home." He said as he handed him a Celica flower.
"But she does know about Celica flowers. And Celica flowers are said to be used to ask someone to dance." He winked.
"What are you getting at?" Frederick narrowed his eyes at him.
"Simple." Gaius spoke with a smirk, "The ladies are all currently meeting up to eat. Since Sophia didn't understand, the best thing is to be bold. Be forward. Counterattack her! Sophia is the most brutally honest and truthful of all of us. She doesn't expect you to be bold." He said and Frederick glared at him.
"What do mean I'm not bold?!"
"Frederick my friend, as anyone ever told you that you give off a too perfect aura?"
[—]
"Oh, Frederick." Sophia looked up from her notepad, "It's good to see you." She smiled softly.
"Ladies, good morning." Frederick nodded, "Sophia, may I speak to you? It is something important." He said and she could feel Chrom, Gauis, and Henry's gazes from hiding away.
"Ah, it must be about the preparations for the wedding." Sophia said as she looked at her notepad, "Don't worry. I already double-checked twice. Well, multiple times." She said and Frederick shook his head.
"That is not what I wish to speak to you about." He sighed and noticed the girls seemed to be excited as he continued, "Do you recall the Glaze Lily I had Yune deliver to you?" He asked and of course, the females beside Sophia understood.
"Oh! Yes!" Sophia grinned, "I forgot to thank you. The glaze lily was the perfect ingredient I needed for my sleeping medicine." Anna slammed her face onto the table as Mirabelle looked at her friend with a disappointed look.
Sumia and Cordelia looked at the knight with pity because it just became obvious that Sophia didn't know the meaning behind the flower. Frederick took a deep breath and took another step towards her. The woman froze as she noticed how intense his gaze was before he took another deep breath and spoke.
"I see you did not understand the message. Very well then." the hand behind his back he brought forward and presented her a Celica flower, "I will be upfront." Frederick stood straight as from far away the trio of males was cheering their friend on, "Sophia, would you be my partner for Lord Chrom's and Lady Robin's wedding?" Cheers from far away could be heard.
Sophia just froze. Her cup was midway to her mouth and her tea was spilling onto the floor while Anna, Sumia, Cordelia, and Mirabelle quickly made their escapes. Sophia was processing what was just said to her as she was trying to make sure she heard right. Her mind was screaming that it was a prank but Frederick was being serious.
"C-Could you repeat that?" She slowly put her cup down and Frederick sighed as he knelt before her.
"Lady Sophia," he placed his right hand on his heart while he gently held her right hand with his left, "would you do me the honor of being my partner for the wedding?" He smiled, placing a kiss on the back of her hand.
The girls were fangirl screaming while Sophia looked like a scared cat. She's never been kissed on the hand before and even more, being asked to be someone's partner for something so important! Her face was turning redder but the second and the man carefully stood up. He noticed how terrified she looked and didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable.
"I understand if you do not w—-!" The woman quickly stood up, stopping him.
"No, wait!" She quickly stood up and held back his hand, "I..." she shyly looked down to the ground, "I accept. It would be my honor."
Frederick couldn't help but let go of a sigh of relief and joy that she accepted as the woman fidgeted with her fingers.
"Umm...Why did you send Yune with the glaze Lily?" She asked and the knight couldn't help but chuckle a bit as he turned fully her way.
Carefully he placed the Celica flower behind her ear and smiled at how red she was becoming. It was a side of her he first saw all those months ago but seeing it now, this time in a genuine and calm moment, he couldn't help but think she looked adorable.
"In Ylisse, gifting a Glaze Lily is a form of asking, Will you be my partner for the day?" He explained and slowly Sophia processed what he said.
"Oh my god..." Sophia turned away, covering her mouth, "I thought you sent me the flower as medicine!" She was horrified once she realized her actions.
"Sophia." Bryhildr spoke coldly in her mind, "You are currently the stupidest woman in Ylisse." Sophia was internally screaming in shame.
"But," She turned back to him quickly, "I believe you understand what a Celica flower means." It was taking everything in him not to laugh.
"Yes...Yes, I do...Oohhhhhhhhhhh..." Sophia buried her face in her hands in embarrassment.
She just felt so ashamed of herself.
"I am so sorry..." Sophia's muffled whimper could be heard, "I didn't know...I am so sorry."
"It's alright." Frederick chuckled, gently patting her shoulder, "You have been in Archanea for a year. You are still learning." He said and Sophia let out a small whine.
"I will pick you and Yune up around 9:30 am, is that alright?" He asked and Sophia nodded, "Alright then. Take care, Sophia." He smiled, waving goodbye as he left.
Sophia was stunned at what had just happened as she went to sit back in her chair. She intertwined her hands together, rest her elbows on the table, and laid her forehead on her hands, processing everything that had just happened. The women walked up with a big smile on their faces, and Mirabelle placed a hand on her shoulder with a smile.
"Sophia, do you know how to dance?"
[—-]
"And that is what happened! Ladies! Please for the love of Naga, teach me how to ballroom dance!" Sophia was on her knees, begging the women to teach her to dance because she had no idea what to do.
So here they are, at the palace's kitchen. Lysithea was testing out a few new recipes they were just the person they were looking for.
"Wait, you don't know how to dance? I thought you were a dancer?" Lysithea snickered and Sophia just whimpered as she buried her face in her hands.
"I know upbeat dances but slow dances are my nightmares. And even if I was temporary noble in Plegia, they taught me etiquettes but never ballroom dancing! And I haven't worn heels and a dress since I was 10! Not to also mention make-up!" Sophia said and Robin chuckled softly as she helped her stand up.
"Hmm...Should we get Phila involved in this?" Sumia said, "She is a professional etiquettes teacher despite being a former Pegasus knight. Maybe she can help you?" Cordelia and Robin became pale.
"I-I think you should ask someone from House Hersvelg instead!" Cordelia quickly said and Robin nodded her head in agreement.
"Hmm...How about Felix?"
"Felix?!" All the women looked at Lysithea in shock.
The woman just smiled.
"He may not look like it but he is an amazing dancer. In Valm, there was a dance competition every year called The White Heron Cup in honor of Mila's and Sothis's love of the arts. Felix was the champion for 5 years." Lysithea giggled and Sophia gawked.
"Then how about this!" Sumia clapped her hand together to her attention, "Phila will be in charge of etiquettes and Felix will help Sophia with her dance?" Cordelia and Robin felt bad for Sophia because they knew what was coming.
Phila was merciless when she teaches etiquettes and Felix was no better.

The summer palace near at the back of the castle was built 300 years ago as of the Exalt of the time for his 3rd concubine who wanted to be away from the public eyes. Created from the finest of stones and the purest magic crystals used, The Summer Palace has been used for those that wish to have some privacy. The Royal children would often sneak there with their friends to play in peace, but also during the time they wanted to be away from their father. Today, only a few selected maids and butlers tend to the place because of Emmeyren and Phila. They were people that Chrom and Lissa had known since they were children and knew they could trust them.
The palace was built in a similar style to the mansion with a garden of roses, lilies, and other beautiful things. Fruit trees from foreign countries that were planted years ago had grown beautiful and huge. The small river nearby along with the forest surrounding the place did hide the place from the public's eye. Sophia took a deep breath as she walked beside Cordelia and Sumia. It had been months since she had seen the married couple and hoped things are going well for them. Still, she wondered what Phila would say. She never has had the chance to have a proper conversation with the Pegasus knight. The only talks they had been back when she and Lysithea aided the County of Themis as well as when she returned to Emmeyren. But what about now?
An elder butler greeted them and welcomed them inside. The inside of the summer place was similar to the castle but more rooms and hallways. The place was built as also a second home in case the main castle should ever go under construction. They followed the butler till they reached the back of the castle, the garden. There at tables sat Emmeyren laughing along with Phila as they converse. They walked over, the butler greeted them.
"Lady Emmeyren, Lady Phila, you have a guest today." The butler bowed and the two women turned to see the trio.
"Ah! Cordelia, Sumia, and Sophia!" It's been so long!" Emmeyren turned to them with a giant grin.
All three women felt they were blinded by just how bright her smile was. Emmeyren was practically glowing. Her skin looked so much healthier, the dark circles under her eyes were no longer there. Her movements have greatly improved thanks to the hard work and dedication she put in as well as the help she had received. Her hair looked shinier and longer as well her eyes were brimming with life. Her speech has greatly improved. The woman stood up and hugged the three with a giant grin. Phila smiled softly, nodding as she spoke.
"Welcome girls. This is a surprise." Phila said as they nodded, "What can we do for you?"
"Is everything alright with the wedding?" Emmeyren asked as she welcomed them to sit down.
"Everything is alright." Cordelia reassured her, "We came here to ask Phila a favor. Well...Sophia." The woman nudges her head a bit towards her.
Phila raised an eyebrow as she turned to the red-haired woman, she fidgeted nervously.
"Sumia unformed that you were once an etiquette and ballroom dance instructor." Phila nodded, "I do not know how to ballroom dance and...I want to ask if it's possible to teach me the basics or at least of the dances that will be done during the wedding." She said.
Phila was silent for a moment as she held her chin in thought. She wanted to say something but decided to wait.
"Sophia, let us speak in private."
[—]
The library was one of the knight's favorite places to be at when she had work to do but today wasn't any of that. Phila crossed her arms as she looked at the woman with an emotionless gaze.
"I will be honest, I hold a grudge against you." Phila said as she let go of a sigh, her gaze half-lidded, "Though you did save my life, I am in your debt. You saved my wife...Though I don't like the methods you did to do it. You lied many times. I understand why you did it but your execution to help us all...was poorly done." She muttered.
"I know." Sophia smiled bitterly, "I am already atoning. I never asked for redemption." She said and Phila let a small chuckle.
"Indeed." Phila sighed as she looked up to the ceiling, "To be honest, seeing Emmeyren right now, I can't help but feel happy. She no longer shoulders the burden of a nation. Her eyes are full of life." She smiled softly as she looked at her wedding ring.
"Your actions over the past few months have earned my respect but not my trust. I hope you understand." Sophia nodded, "Good. Now explain to me why you have come to seek me?"
"Well...It's like this." Sophia coughed as she felt her ears turning red, "Frederick asked me to be his partner for the wedding." Phila's eyes widened, "I thought the glaze lily he sent to was for my sleeping medicine." The knight let out a small, "Pfft!"
"I do not know any of the traditional dances of Ylisse nor do I know ballroom dancing. The women informed me that you were once a dance instructor." She explained and the knight nodded.
"I see. So you want me to help you." Sophia nodded, "There isn't left till the wedding. I will be strict and show no mercy. Think you can handle it?" Phila's smile was becoming wicked but Sophia nodded, her eyes firmed.
"I'll do it."
[—-]
A brutal two weeks it was. From the final touches being made to wedding menus to Phila's lessons from hell, the day of the wedding had finally come. Left and right, all over Ylisse it was busy. Hotels and inns were booked, The Khans along with their guards were in their rooms. Servants, maids, butlers, chefs, guards, and all scurried around to get everything done. Bright and early everyone awoke to shower and dress, to prepare for the biggest ceremony in all of Ylisse. Everyone had left to their respective places to prepare, the only ones at the dorm were Sophia and Yune.
"Mom, are you almost done?" Yune pouted as Sophia was digging her trunk, "What's taking so long?"
"Found it!" Sophia smiled as she pulled out her jewelry box, "Sorry sweety, I was looking for something very important." She said and went to sit next to her on the bed.
"This jewelry box once belonged to your great-grandmother. She passed it down to me when I was your age." Yune was awed as Sophia carefully opened the box with a heart-shaped key.
Inside the box was a gold headpiece that looked oddly familiar but she couldn't remember where. Sophia picked up a gold bracelet with rubies and put it around Yune's wrist.
"That bracelet belonged to your great-grandmother. So, this is a little gift to you." Sophia said as Yune looked at her shocked, "Think of it as a late birthday present." She smiled.
Yune could help but hug her mother tightly, holding back tears as she looked at the braclet in her hand. She never thought she would see it again. In Yune's future, Sophia gifted her the bracelet when she was 10 years old. But when Grima suddenly invaded Plegia, their home was destroyed, all their belongings were reduced to ashes. Yune remembered how she cried yet her mother hugged her, telling her that everything would be alright.
"T-Thank you ma..." Yune whispered as Sophia chuckled, gently patting her head.
"Now come. Let's head off."
[—-]
If Sophia was carrying a pizza box when she arrived at the palace dressing room, she would have dropped it in shock when she arrived. No hell was breaking loose, but out of how peaceful it was going. Of course, she knew better than to voice out loud that it was calm because if she did, things would suddenly get hectic. The women were helping each other apply their makeup as Sumia and her group helped out Sully and Phila get their hair done. The mirrors were occupied by many getting their clothing fixed as well as some snacks were all set up. The minute they heard the door close, Mirabelle, Hilda, and Dorothea scurried to them and took them to the changing room.
"I thought you two weren't going to make it on time!" Hilda said as Sophia began to remove her clothing along with Yune, "You two showered already right?"
"Of course we did Big Sis!" Yune said, "Mom made sure to straighten my hair and curl it nicely!"
"I'm going to quickly check on Robin." Sophia said as she put on her bathrobe, "She should be in the next room right?" They nodded and she quickly went to go check on her.
Inside the room, the beautiful wedding dress was laid out on the bed, silk, and gold with a bit of Sakura pink, on the table was set up with make-up, jewelry, and many more things. Along with perfumes, but none of that caught Sophia's attention. She smiled softly as she walked up to the mirror desk where Robin sat, yet the bride to be looked nervous.
"Robin, are you alright?" Sophia said as she walked up and the woman turned to her.
"I'm alright just..." Robin sighed as she looked back to the mirror, "It feels like a dream. I am worried about the future." Sophia smiled softly and stood behind her.
Carefully she began to comb her hair, gently braiding and picking up the curling stick. Careful she was, placing the flower pins in her hair and doing her make-up. A light tone, a blush on her lips, some highlights. Robins's hair was tried up into a beautiful bun with some loose curls, the veil put on with a crown with cherry blossoms made from pink quarters and rubies. Her wedding dress, a mermaid-style dress with a light shade of pink and flower embroidery with pearls and white beads sewed on.
"Robin, I will tell you this." Sophia smiled softly as finished the last touches, "The road will be a tough one. There will be both good and bad moments. There will be times you wish to run away. But most of all, " she held her hands and looked her in the eyes, "You are not alone. You have your friends and loved ones and together we will cut our own path." She knelt like a knight and bow to her, "As your lady-in-waiting, I will stand by your side."
"Oh, Sophia..." Robin wanted to cry and was turned towards the mirror, gasping at her reflection, "T-This is me?"
"Yes. Yes, it is." Sophia grinned, "And now the wedding awaits us."
[—-]
Sophia and Robin went ahead to the church as the ladies finished their last bit of touches. The groomsmen all lined up outside the dressing room to pick up their partners. Morgan was put first on purpose. Morgan grumbled as the men patted his back and the doors opened. They quickly straighten themselves, Morgan holding a basket with blue rose petals in his left arm. He was dressed in a blue tuxedo with a white tie and Gillias pinned onto his chest. They could hear the woman cooing on the other side of the curtains and hushed whispers.
"Go on!" Mirel was heard and the first one to step out of the current was...
"What do you think?"
Morgan froze as Yune stepped out of the curtains and grinned at him with the biggest smile he had ever seen. Her hair was curled nicely with a flower crown of red and white roses. Her silk dress was light pink with knee-length ruffles, a pink ribbon on her back, white gloves, and tights, with low heels and she wore small ruby earrings. Her dragon wings were sparkling because of how clean they were. The boy felt his throat turn dry too stunned to speak. The men were looking at each other with knowing looks. The girl smiled a bit shyly, her wings fluttering a bit as she walked up with a basket of flower petals.
"Umm...I'm not used to wearing something like this," Yune whispered and with a push from the men, Morgan snapped out of it.
The boy quickly went on one knee and took her hand, sending the girl to turn as red as a tomato. The men were shocked by the bold move while Henry and Ethan were just glad Alm and Frederick weren't present.
"Lady Yune," the boy smiled warmly as he looked up to her, "may I have the honor of walking beside you as your partner of flowers?" Squeals erupted from the other side and Lysithea had snuck her hands under the curtains to take multiple pictures.
Yune looked ready to cry but nodded.
"Yes." And it was sealed with a kiss on the hand.
Now it was full-out fangirl screaming while the men looked proud of the boy.
Meanwhile, Alm and Frederick felt a disturbance in the force.

In their shared room, Lucina finished the final touches of braiding her hair and putting on her necklace. She wore a dark blue A-Line styled dress with some blue flowers, a thin light blue silk shawl, her small purse, blue heels. Severa, Owain, and Inigo already went ahead because they wanted some seats in the back. Lucina was silent as she stared at herself in the mirror.
"I'm going to witness my parents getting married." She whispered and smiled sadly, "It's a shame I can't stay after the wedding."
She turned when she heard the bathroom door open and smiled when she saw Alm come out. He wore a light blue tuxedo with a black tie, with black shoes. His hair combed back, similar to his father's but he still wore the mask. Expect it was a masquerade mask fitting for the occasion. Lucina chuckled as she stood up and walked over to him. Carefully fixing his tie.
"You look amazing." She grinned and the man raised an eyebrow at him as he spun her.
"I should be the one saying that. You look beautiful. And..." he smiled slyly as he wrapped an arm around her waist, "tonight will be good for us." Lucina couldn't help but giggle as he peppered her cheek with kisses.
"You hopeless romantic!" The woman chuckled and he rolled his eyes but smiled.
"But in all seriousness, are you alright?" He looked at her worried, "We'll be watching your parents get married today. How are you feeling?" Lucina smiled sadly as she hugged him, resting her head on his chest.
"It feels like a dream..." she muttered, "Many months ago I would have thought distancing ourselves from everyone would have been better then we met...Sophia. Despite how cold we were and rude." Alm snorted, "She still welcomed us. Before any of us knew it, our plans of keeping our distance went out the window. We recreate new friendships and most of all..." she smiled warmly, "My father and mother...my brother...I wish Marget was here with us and the others as well."
Alm hugged her tightly, gently patting her head.
"Me too...Me too..."

Sophia waited outside the extra room that Emmeyren and Robin were in. Phila also waited as well. The blue-haired woman was dressed in a dark blue long tail tuxedo with her knight hedges and her hair in a high bun. Sophia was dressed in a light pink tea-length dress with black tights, pink heels, and she slightly curled. She wore the golden crown her grandmother passed down to her. Sophia smiled fondly as she heard a bit of Emmeyren's and Robin's conversation.
"Thank you for everything you have done. Truly." Emmeyren smiled softly as she held Robin's hands, "Robin, you have my blessing. May have the honor of walking you down the alley?" A sob escaped Robin's lips, the woman nodding.
"There you are."
Sophia turned and froze. Brown hair combed back, dark blue tuxedos with a blue rose, black shoes, and black tie. Frederick's eyes also widened when he looked at her. They would have stared at each other longer if Phila hadn't coughed. Both quickly averted their eyes and Frederick coughed, composing himself.
"You look beautiful Sophia." Why did that have to come out of his mouth?
Sophia nodded and mumbled a thank you, looking away. Phila looked away, annoyed because she could tell those two must have some sort of feelings towards each other but are not acting on it.
"Goodness...young love these days." The woman thought as she pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Is everyone ready?" They heard and the door opened, Emmyren and Robin stepping out with their arms linked.
Sophia gave them a thumbs up while Phila followed behind them. The woman couldn't help but smile softly as the trio went ahead. She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned, seeing Frederick offer his arm. The woman was surprised but nodded, both hooking their arms. Together they walked, and Sophia to keep her mind from wondering when she felt how strong he was.
"So she admits she has...impure thoughts." Bryhildr cackled in her mind and Sophia whispered a "Shut up." Frederick looked at her a bit worried but she reassured him everything was fine.
"Shall we go?" Sophia said and they nodded, both walking together to the ceremony.

The church was decorated with a variety of white flowers, each hunged on the edge of the benches. The choir with their leading singer, Annette, sang the holy hymns of Naga. The priest looked ready to cry at any moment as the doors to the cathedral opened. Everyone rose from their seats as the first tune began to play. Usually, the parents of the bride and groom would come in first but since both don't have parents, the order of things had to be changed. The first one to walk in was Chrom, dressed in a most elegant blue tuxedo, his hair combed back, his Exalt crown, and such. Down the ally he walked till he reached the altar, there he stood and wait. The groomsmen and their braids men walked in next. Lissa and Donnel first. Vaike and Miriel next. Sumia and Gauis third. Cordelia and Lon'qu. The swordsman looked ready to pass out at any moment had his lover not been holding onto him tightly. Lastly, Lysithea and Felix. The men wore dark blue tuxedos and the woman empire-style light pink dresses. They walked up and the groomsmen stood on the right side of the altar, behind the groom while the bridesmaid stood on the left, waiting for the bride.
Next walked in the Best Man and Maid of Honor. Sophia felt nervous because this was her first wedding. She walked carefully, straight, with elegance. From the audience seats, Martha was covering her mouth to hide her giggling. Alm was silent as he watched the two walk till they reached the altar, bowing to each other and going to their positions. Now walked in the Ringer bear, Morgan and the flower girl Yune, arms linked together. Many had to stop themselves from cooing and Inigo and Severa had to hold Owain down before the idiot started one of his dramatic speeches. Frederick had a strained smile as he watched the young pair walk together, throwing flower petals onto the carpet. And Morgan...looked stiff as he was trying to keep a steady pace with Yune.
His blush only seemed to grow when she giggled at him.
"I see your future son-in-law," Cordelia whispered to her friend and Sophia covered her mouth to hide her snickering.
Finally, the choir began to sing the higher notes as finally, the bride arrived. Emmeyren smiled softly as they two walked, and Chrom turned. Seeing Robin for the first time dressed in white, so beautiful she appeared, like a faerie dancing the midnight summer. The man felt tears welling up in his eyes and Frederick patted his shoulder, chuckling. Carefully they walked till they reached the alter. Emmeyren smiled softly as she held their hands together.
"May Naga watch over you both." She said and went to her seat on the front row with Phila.
As the guest sat down and the choir died out. The priest cleared his throat and spoke as the future married couple turned to each other.
"Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join Exalt Chrom von Lowell and Robin Anita Daeren, in matrimony commended to be honorable among all; and therefore is not to be entered into lightly but reverently, passionately, lovingly and solemnly. Into this - these two persons present now come to be joined. If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together - let them speak now or forever hold their peace." The silence there was until someone sneezed, the fact Chrom and Robin both turned looking at everyone as if daring them to even oppose their marriage spoke a lot of value.
Small waves of laughter could be heard around the crowd as a little boy apologized for sneezing. Robin and Chrom couldn't help but chuckle but bit, whispering that it was okay. The ceremony continued and prayers were said to set up the place. Next was a light speech about the couple. As on cue, the choir was signaled to start light and soft hum as the bride and groom began to recite their vows.
"I, Robin, take you, Chrom, to be my husband, my friend, my faithful partner, and my love from this day forward. In the presence of our family and friends, I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live." Robin's voice cracked, holding back her sobs as she recited her vows.
Chrom took a deep breath and gently held her hand, kneeling?! Oh, poor Lucina was trying her best not to burst into tears of joy along with Severa.
It was to no one's surprise that the majority of the females exploded in squeals as the man began to recite his vows to his beloved. Chrom smiled warmly as he looked into her eyes.
"I, Chrom Lowell, take you, Robin, to be my wife. Ever since the day was first met, I was entranced by your beauty, wisdom, and knowledge. You have stood by my side in my darkest moments and even the most joyful. You are the light of day. You are the moon of the night sky. You are kind and gentle, I will never let you go. I will always, I swear to Naga and all the divine, that I will love you unconditionally. I will support your goals, to honor and respect you. To laugh and cry with you. And most of all. To cherish you as long as we both shall live." He carefully stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist, carefully removing her veil.
She was the most beautiful woman in the of the land.
"My my friend. My beloved. My beautiful wife. Thank you for entering my life and starting the new chapter of our lives together. You are my new dawn. My beloved wife. I love you, Robin." Oh, Robin burst into tears and both were about to kiss each other deeply till unfortunately, the priest coughed.
"Aawwwwwww!"
"Boooo!"
"Really, Vaike?!"
Sophia shook her head but she wasn't any. She was crying as she was witnessing Robin and Chrom exchange their rings, saying another set of vows. Morgan was brimming with joy as the two walked towards the statue of Naga and together lit a unity candle. The people broke into applies as they turned back. A small poem was sung by the choir to show the closing of the ceremony.
And finally...
"By the power vested in me by the Church of Naga, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the b-!"
The priest didn't even get to finish because Robin has shoved the bouquet into his hand and the newly married couple dove, kissing each other deeply. Chrom's arms around her waist, leg hooked...
"Well, they certainly are going to be wild tonight." Martha chuckled as she had to cover Marianne's eyes and Felix quickly covered Morgan's and Cordelia covered Yune's.
Sophia was just absolutely stunned, her face turning crimson as the couple separated, out of breath, and both had completely forgotten there were people. Frederick dragged his hand over his face while cheers had filled the cathedral from everyone and quite a few of Chrom's friends were whistling loudly.
"Ahem!" The priest snapped out of it and handed back Robin, her bouquet, "I present to you, Mr. Lowell and Mrs. Daeren Lowell!" The priest yelled out and once more cheers erupted as petals and rice were thrown in the air as the newly married couple walked down the carpet.
To new dawn.

The wedding ceremony was over and now it was time for the festivities to take place. Tables filled with de loud foods of all kinds. Dancers, the main leaders being Olivia and Henry, danced together with the group. Khan Flavia, Khan Basilio raised their mugs as they yelled out congratulations to the couple and as a gift, presented them beautifully capes made of the finest furs but most of all...
"Oh." Chrom felt somewhat unsettled as Robin cooed at the Wyvern eggs that were present to them.
"It's only fitting got the King and Queen of Ylisse to receive such bounty!" Basilio laughed, "And they are quite rare breeds too. You'll see when they hatch." The man chuckled, "Congratulations you two!"
"Thank you!" Robin said and hugged Flavia, "Though I am curious, what type of breed are the wyvern?" She asked and Flavia smirked.
"Let's just say, they are a breed called, The King of Wyverns. Queen if female." Robin raised an eyebrow but swore she would take care of them.
Away the two Khans left and the one that came up was Sophia, Yune, and Morgan were with her.
"Congratulations!" Yune squealed, hugging the couple tightly, "these for you!" She handed them a bouquet of white lilies.
" Aw. Thank you Yune." Chrom grinned and noticed Morgan shifting nervously, "Morgan?"
"Congratulations!" Morgan yelled out and bowed, holding out two small boxes towards them, "I made these for you two! Please accept them!" His eyes were closed shut as he felt them accept the small boxes.
Carefully the two opened them and smiles came across their faces. Inside Chrom's was a white handkerchief with the Brand of Naga sewed beautifully with a sapphire-colored thread and aquarium beads. Robin's was little Robin bird sewed on with black, white, and orange thread along with small Ruby beads.
"Oh Morgan, these are beautiful." Robin smiled softly as she hugged the boy, "Thank you, Morgan. We will treasure it." Chrom smiled softly and also hugged the boy.
Morgan held back his tears as he hugged them tightly. It was moments like this he truly missed. Even if they are his parents from the past, he was more than happy. From a distance, Lucina smiled sadly.
"Congratulations, I hope in this time...you two will truly be happy." She whispered.
From Martha's table, the spirit within the woman's necklace cried tears of joy as she watched her parents. Martha spirituality patted their head.
"Don't worry, We'll get your body back." The spirit nodded as the ceremony continued.

Before the wedding party came to an end, there were two major traditional events. Robin had been quickly changed into a knee-length flown white dress, her hair let louse, she walked barefoot onto the stage. Chrom was dressed up into a plain button-up long sleeve shirt, with brown pants. Robin stood on the right side of the stage while Chrom was on the left. The first Royal Waltz was to be danced by the new Queen of Ylisse. The first part of the Royal waltz was done by the bride. It was to commemorate the crowning of Queen Caeda and to honor The Divine Dragon Naga. Despite the dress that Robin wore, it was easy to move in. She walked onto the stage and walked to the center. She took a deep breath, raising her arms, positioning her feet to stand in a battement tendu position. Closing her eyes, she took another deep breath and exhaled as she calmed herself.
Dorothea along with her fellow singers listened closely as the violins played till finally the note they were waiting for came. A deep breath the singer took and raised her hands, looking up to the stary sky as she began to sing the song of the lattice stage. An old tale of tragedy, hardships, overcome together by King Marth and Queen Caeda.
"De cidi outto oudo, cresi mi ha cedo"
The first turn she did a few small jumps as she moved along with the song. This was to represent the obstacles in their lives that were overcome. Sophia was awed as she watched the Queen dance but what was the most touching moment was the expression on Chrom's face. It looked like he was holding back tears as he was memorized by his wife.
"Looks like he has fallen in love all over again." Sophia couldn't help whisper then giggle a bit as Vaike patted Chrom on the back, "A love-struck prince all over again." She jumped a bit when Frederick was suddenly by her side.
"Lovestruck indeed." Frederick smiled softly and looked at her, "Because it is a love that blossoms." She looked at him shocked.
"I never thought of you as a romantic." She giggled as both turned to watch now Chrom take the stage and followed behind her.
He took her handspun her towards him, following her steps of spinning and dancing. Both never broke eye contact. Sophia blinked multiple times as flower petals were now suddenly raining down from the sky.
"The fu-"
"Language."
She glared at Frederick, who just gave her a small smirk before both looked UI at the ceiling to see Owain and Inigo dramatically throwing flower petals. Frederick dragged his hand down his face while Severa had rolled up her sleeves to bring the two down but was stopped by Morgan. Sophia snorted, but couldn't help but grin as now Chrom and Robin looked even more majestic as they continued the dance. Everyone agreed even though the flower petals were not planned, it was the best choice done. With the final notes taking place, Dorothea finished the song with a soft tone. Chrom and Robin finished the final step together, their eyes looked at each other deeply.
"And with that, Robin is officially the Queen of Ylisse," Bryhildr muttered in her mind as the couple bowed to each other, rounds of applauses erupting from all over the place.
"I thought you were asleep." Sophia thought and the DeadLord chuckled a bit, which was rare.
"Festivities like this I have always loved. Those two will have a fine future." The DeadLord muttered before disappearing again.
With the dance coming to an end and after a 30-minute break, the time to cut the cake had come. A beautiful huge, seven-tier wedding cake decorated with sugar flowers, pearls, white chocolates, and a cute little figure of a bride and groom at the top.
"Lysithea outdid her." Sophia gasped as many stared in awe at the beautiful cake.
Lysithea was filled with pride as people kept praising the cake. Chrom and Robin stood together, both holding the Falchion—-!
"Your Highness!" Frederick screeched and the Exalt laughed along with Robin, "It's only fitting that such a marvelous cake is to be cut with a marvelous blade!" The Exalt laughed while from a table, Emmeyren shook her head but was using Phila for support from laughing too much.
Lucina covered her face in embarrassment as Morgan cheered them on.
"Alright, who put it in his mind to cut the cake with Falchion?!" Frederick said and Alm quickly disappeared as Lucina looked ready to give him whiplash.
The crowd gathered around, fellow Shepards, friends, and family cheering them on as the sword was brought down. Edelgard and Ignatz were sketching furiously the scene while Lysithea and Yune were snapping pictures with their cameras. But most of all, the biggest tradition of cutting a cake has come. The one every child/adult has dreaded growing up.
"Bite it! Bite it! Bite it!" Half the Shepards and friends hollered out as the married couple finished cutting the wedding cake.
"Que lo muerda! Que lo muerda!" Alm, Yune, and Severa cheered out loudly while Sophia dragged her hand down her face, feeling somewhat responsible for telling Shepard's kids about the tradition of bitting the cake after the first slice is made.
Robin looked somewhat nervous as she kept looking to her side to make sure Henry nor Lissa didn't pop up behind them to push their faces in. Chrom looked excited but Sumia reassured the Queen that the tradition of biting the cake was something that has always existed. Besides, she was looking forward to seeing how it went. Slowly, the couple leaned forward to nibble the cake but...
"HERE COMES HENRY!"
The couple's screech was muffled when their faces met the cake. Olivia quickly pulled her lover away as laughter filled the place. Sophia had quickly handed the couple napkins to clean themselves yet both were laughing along with everyone. The entire city was in celebrations as the night went on. Soon it was time for the newlyweds to leave on their honeymoon. A carriage was ready for them to take them to the mountains of Ylisse, where a mansion was built 400 years ago for the Royal family. It was a tradition of the Ylisse Royals to go there when they are newly wedded. Chrom was speaking to his friends as Sophia hugged Robin.
"Don't worry about us." Sophia grinned, "We'll hold the fort down. I'll help Emmeyren and Lissa with papers work and everything." Robin chuckled.
"Thank you, my friend." Robin smiled softly, "Take care."
"Take care."
The couple walked to the carriage, the door open but Robin stopped, her husband looked at her confused.
"I nearly forgot to throw the bouquet!" Robin gasped and many females swarmed like flies.
Anna quickly got on the table and shouted, "Everyone get ready!" Anna screamed, "Robin is going to throw the bouquet!" It was like a bunch of cougars all gathered together, ready to catch their prey.
Sophia wasn't part of the group and it was hilarious watching so many women and a few men gather around. What was not funny was seeing her daughter be a part of the group!
"Yune you are too young to get married!" Sophia screeched as she ran into the group to get her daughter out.
"And a one!" Robin swung the first, "And a two!" She did a false throw which earned a lot of shouts, "And three!" And screams filled the air when the bouquet was thrown.
Yune jumped up and down excitedly, refusing to use her wings to fly because that would be cheating but like always, there is always that one.
Right when the bouquet was about to fall into her hands, a blur of green came into her vision and disappeared. Everyone looked around confused until…
"I GOT IT!"
Nowi.
The green gremlin cheered excitedly in the air as she flapped her wings, the bouquet in her arms. Yet everyone just looked at Ricken, who froze in the middle of chewing his food. The young man was stunned and quickly dove under the table. Many couldn't help laughing but a few congratulated the young man. Looks the next person getting married in the future is them.
On the carriage the Royal couple got on, waving to the people as they rode off towards the mountains. The joy and cheers were heard all over the city, people praying to Naga and giving their blessings. The festivities of the night continued. At some point, Yune and Morgan had fallen asleep together on a bench. Alm grumbled a curse under his breath when he saw the two were holding hands, yet Lucina couldn't help but chuckle. Lysithea took a picture for sure.
"Oh, they fell asleep." Sophia chuckled as she was about to pick up Yune but was stopped by Alm and Lucina.
She looked at them confused until they spoke.
"We'll take them." Lucina smiled softly she picked up her brother and Alm picked up Yune.
"Are you sure?" Sophia looked at them a bit worried, "They aren't too heavy now?"
"It's fine." Alm sighed, "Go enjoy yourself. Like the old saying, the night is still young." He smiled softly and she waved goodbye as they left.
Sophia let go of a sigh as looked around. At one table, Anna, Jake, Miriel, Vaike, Sully, Sumia, Derick, Tharja, Gregor, and Gauis were having a drinking contest. And Stahl and Mirabelle just got dragged into the contest. Lissa and Donnel were slow dancing together. Owain was surrounded by people as he told his dramatic stories, the majority of the audience were kids. Kellam was spotted speaking to a lady with short brown hair. Sadly she was too far away to see who it was. Martha had joined the drinking contest at some point. Cordelia and Lon'qu had disappeared somewhere. Nowi and Ricken were chatting away at their table. Lysithea and Felix had left together to walk around the city. Panne and Libra were at their tables, having a silent yet nice conversation. Olivia and Henry had also disappeared somewhere into the night. Khan Flavia and Khan Basilio were drinking to their heart's contents.
"Today was a good day..." Sophia whispered as she excused herself and decided to walk around the city.
[—-]
Tavares filled with people drinking and dancing, bards singing songs of old legends and new. Flowers were thrown from the rooftops in celebration and music was heard all around. Lanterns and candles lit of all kinds illuminated the night like gems. Sophia hummed softly as she walked around. She sighed once more as she looked up to the sky.
"It's been a while since I've felt peaceful." She thought and turned as she heard footsteps approaching, "Frederick?"
The man smiled seeing her.
"You disappeared. I decided o look for you." He said as he walked up, "The night is still a long way. And as my partner," he held out his hand to her, "would you dance with me?"
Sophia looked at him surprised and stared at his hand for a moment. Honestly, she was hesitant.
"Whooo! Blessings to The Exalt and Queen!" A group of drunks cheered and numbed into Sophia from the back, causing her to stumble forward.
Thankfully, the knight reacted quickly and held her tightly to him. Sophia was turning crimson as the group continued ahead. The knight sighed and shook his head as he watched the group leave.
"Are you alright?" He asked and froze.
Sophia was looking away, her ears had turned red, as she was now holding his hand and his arms were wrapped around her waist. Now holding her up close, she was quite small, and...
"Warm..." he whispered and looks like she heard because she was looking like a frightened cat.
"Cough! My apologies. Shall we go to the town square?"
"Yes, let's do that."
The town square was filled with people and a few musicians were playing music. They spotted Edelgard and Ignatz with their spouses. Sophia at this point should be used to seeing more familiar faces but it always caught her off guard. Hubert was dancing with Edelgard and Ignatz with Flayn. Perhaps they went by different names in this life but even so, she was happy to see them living well.
"Oh." Frederick stopped when he heard a familiar tune, "I know this melody." He said and stepped back, once more holding out his hand to her, "Lady Sophia, may have this dance?"
Sophia hesitated but she took a deep breath, calming her heart. She smiled softly and took his hand, even he was a bit surprised.
"Yes, you may." Both smiled as they walked to the place, Frederick carefully placed his hand around her waist.
The tune once more began to play and they took the first steps. Sophia was nervous, repeating Phila's instructions in her head multiple times. This was her first waltz. She's never done anything like this before. Oh, she was too nervous, stiff.
"Back with Right Foot. Side with Left Foot. Close Right Foot to Left Foot. Spin." She kept repeating in her mind as Frederick spun her and then back to him, "Forward with Left F—!"
"Ow."
"AAHHHHHHHH!" She mentally screamed as she looked at her heel on Frederick's shoe, horrified, "I'm so sorry..." her voice was so weak.
The man couldn't help but laugh and shook his head.
"It's alright! Try to relax. Allow me to take the lead. And another thing," she looked up to him, "Do not break eye contact with me." Their eyes locked.
She nodded, taking a deep breath, and allowed him to take the lead. The song that began playing was a bit more upbeat but for some reason, she felt happy they danced.
You were sleeping gently
I was carefully looking at you
So that I won't wake you up
Windy nights make you feel uneasy
And you were trembling
The two spun together, not breaking eye contact. For the time she had been here, Sophia wondered to herself if she deserved such happiness. When she first arrived at the world of Awakening, she was like a little girl, terrified. As the days went by, better or for worse, she met new people, she learned about the land. She formed bonds and friendships she never thought she would be capable of doing ever again. She explored the world, both good and bad times. She cried. She laughed. She wept, she screamed in anger. She shed tears of joy, she felt the warmth of being able to trust again. To be surrounded by so many. Her start in this world was not the best but now...
If I can hold you
I don't mind disappearing like a snowflake
Ah, I pray, I pray for you
In the night
She looked back to Frederick, the man's face was focused on her. Only her. When the two first met, it wasn't the best. When they reunited, they nearly killed each other. When they spent time together at each other's throats they were healing yet they also got to know each other. Their reunion, again not the best but...
"Sophia?" Frederick looked at her confused as the woman stopped, seeing her eyes widening, her hands trembling as she looked at him, "What's wrong?"
Frederick.
Looking into his eyes, spending time with him, getting to know him, she felt safe.
She felt safe with him.
She felt happy with him.
The time they would spend together would always bring her joy. True, at times they would argue but they would converse with each other and work together. He made her chest hurt at times and would make her laugh in the most unexpected ways. Stubborn man he was but that was was why she felt so trusting of him. He helped her in so many ways. He...He...
"Why?" She to herself as she let go of his hands and took a step back, "I-I'm sorry!" And away she ran.
"Wait, Sophia!"
She ran, not caring if her feet hurt. Ignoring the looks of concern some gave her as well someone else called out her name. But she didn't care. She kept running and running for who knows how long till she reached the palace garden. It was empty and she crouched bit, gasping and panting for air trying to catch her breath. She walked up to the fountain, hugging herself tightly as tears streamed down her eyes.
"Why...Why...? I'm not...I'm not supposed to have feelings for him!" She cried out, "Why?! I'm...I'm not supposed to..." she sobbed, her nails digging into her arms.
Frederick was the most stubborn, patient, yet kindest man she had ever met, even in her darkest moments. He saw her worst and helped her through her dark times. He gave her another chance and was patient with her. His eyes were warm, reminding him of a forest. When he held her hand, feeling just how small, she was next to him. Her standing by his side...
"Sophia!"
She sucked in her breath as she refused to turn his way, even if he walked towards her.
"Sophia, why did you suddenly run off?" Frederick said as he stood behind her, "Did I do something wrong? "Why was he so patient with her?
He could just have chosen to go the other direction yet he chose to go after her. Sophia gritted her teeth, hanging her head.
"You did nothing wrong..." she hated how his voice cracked, "I...just realized something and I hate myself for it. It wasn't supposed to happen." She said bitterly, her smile strained.
"What is it?" He asked and she remained silent, "Sophia, please speak to me. Keeping things like this to yourself...Why do you keep punishing yourself? Why do you feel you do not deserve joy?" He said and she hated how much her heart stung as he said those words.
"Frederick...why did you follow me?"
"Because I am worried. Because I care."
Sophia let out a small sob as she felt her mask cracking even more. When she was with him, she felt safe. She felt she could be herself. She felt...happy. Joyful. She was trying to keep herself from breaking, to deny the feelings she was feeling but the moment she felt his arms hug her from behind, she broke.
"I...I don't deserve you! I don't deserve this!" She sobbed, "Why does my heartache when I deny how I feel?! I'm not supposed to have these feelings!" She sobbed loudly.
Why?
Why did it have to be on the day of the wedding she realized she had grown feelings towards him? Was it because of their time spent together? Was it because he made her feel happy? Or was it more? She cried, the man was silent, letting her cry her heart out.
"Dammit, I hate this...I hate this..." she sobbed weakly, "I'm not supposed to feel this way..."
"Sophia...can you please look at me?" Frederick whispered and she shook her head like a child, "Sophia." She didn't fight back when he slowly turned her toward him, "Please look at me."
She slowly looked up, his own eyes looking into her crimson emerald ones. Those eyes of hers reminded him of rubies and the green of the forest. Her red hair was the color of the sunset, yet he asked himself why her eyes were filled with such sorrow. He studied her, carefully wiping her tears away.
"I don't know what is going on." He spoke softly, "I don't know why you think you don't deserve me." He cupped her cheek, "But what I do know is that you are in pain. And that is alright. Take your time to heal but do not ever believe you do not deserve to feel what you do or deny your happiness. Cry if you need to. Scream. But know this," he rested his forehead on hers, looking deeply into her eyes, "everything will be alright. You're not alone. Not now. Not ever. That's a promise."
Her lip quivered and she hugged him tightly, burying her face in his chest. She held in her sobs as her hands grasped onto his clothing.
"His heartbeat..." she closed her eyes, listening, "it's strong yet gentle." She wrapped his arms around him, smiling sadly.
"You're warm...have you always been like this?" She whispered and the man chuckled softly.
"Yes, I have." He said as he hugged her back.
They stayed like that for who knows how long but such a silent yet sweet moment they both were happy.
"It's getting late." Sophia was the first to speak, "I...should get going."
"Wait." He held her hand and looked up at him surprised "...Stay." Sophia hung her head, nodding shyly.
[—- ]
Both walked together towards the rooms and stopped in front of Frederick's. Sophia took a deep breath as he opened the door and both walked in. He flipped the switch and the Magic crystal lit up the room. Frederick's room was simple yet it still felt like him. Near the windows was his desk two bookshelves. His bed was with blue and white beds sheets, a closet filled with our clothing.
"The bathroom is on the left. There is some extra clean clothing in there. You can use it." He smiled softly and she nodded.
She quickly went to the bathroom and closed the door. Frederick remained silent for a moment before turning to the wall and slightly slamming his forehead on it.
"I've done it now...Oh, Frederick what have you done?" The man said to himself as he looked down to the ground.
He just had to make the first move...
[—]
"Oh what I have done..." Sophia whimpered as she sunk herself into the warm water of the bathtub, "I think I just indirectly confessed that I like him...Why the hell did I say, "I don't deserve you?" She kept mentally punching herself.
She wished Bryhildr would just scold her and everything but knowing the DeadLord, was deeply far away into her mind, enjoying the show. Sophia hugged her knees, her eyes still a bit puffy.
"I'm really about to stay with him..." she whispered, "I wonder...does he like me too...?"
After she finished bathing herself, she noticed the clothing left on the shelf. A white shirt, pajama pants, and slippers.
"This is Frederick's shirt situation all over again," Sophia whispered hoarsely as she picked up the white shirt.
it's still too big for her, but it was better than having a tight one. She took a deep breath and changed into the clothing, using wind magic to dry her hair. She gulped as she turned and stared at the doorknob, taking another deep breath and finally opening it. Out she stepped and saw Frederick had already changed into his night clothing. The man froze and had to quickly turn around to cover his mouth because he was seeing her wearing his shirt and night pants. This brought back memories from the camp.
"I'll sleep on the couch." Sophia said, "You take the bed."
"Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?" The man turned to her surprised.
"I'm a guest."
"Yes, and I am the host that invited you. So I shall sleep on the couch."
"It's your room. I'm not taking your bed."
"It would not be right for you to sleep on the couch."
"Pfft." Sophia couldn't help but laugh a bit as did he, "Out of the things we are arguing about, it's about who sleeps on the couch."
"Well, if we can't decide." He walked up to her and scooped her up, "We both are sharing the bed."
Sophia EX. Has stopped working.
"Wait...Wait! You can't do that! This is your room! I'm a guest!"
"I SUGGEST YOU SHUT UP AND ACCEPT YOUR FATE." Bryhildr suddenly hissed in her mind before she disappeared again.
Sophia slumped as the man carefully placed her down on the right side of the bed and sat down next to her.
"Are you alright?" Frederick and Sophia took a deep breath as she turned her head a bit towards him.
"Thank you...for leading me your shoulder. Especially with what happened earlier." She whispered and Frederick smiled softly at her.
"As I said before, you are not alone." He said, "You deserve to be happy just like anyone else."
"That's the thing." Sophia sighed as she hugged her knees to her chest, "I'm afraid to lose this happiness I have. I'm afraid the peace we have will be shattered in an instant. That I will wake up and this will be gone." She sighed and looked back to him with a concerned look, "I still feel..."
She stopped when she felt him place his hand on her shoulder. He sighed and though he was hesitant, he hugged her to his chest.
"As I said, take your time." He muttered and Sophia smiled softly as she hugged him.
"Do you remember that white shirt I was wearing months ago...?" She said and felt him nod, "It's yours. I'm sorry I never gave it back."
"Let me guess...Lissa gave it to you."
"Yes. It's comfortable and I'm keeping it. I'm not giving it back."
"Hahaha!" The man laughed softly, "I swear...the things you do." He chuckled as both laid down, "Sophia...you...hmm." He smiled softly as he closed his eyes, "It's better I tell you at another time." He said, "We should get some sleep. Good night Sophia." He said and the woman smiled softly.
"Good night, Frederick."
For the first time in many years, Sophia finally has accepted her feelings and prayed to whatever hid her voice, to watch over everyone and protect them. It had been so long since she felt peace.
Dark Saint's Heart: Arc 2: Home: Complete
(-)
Arc two is officially done! This Arc I wanted to focus on more on Sophia, her relationship with the Awakening cast as well as character development. I apologize for taking a while. As you can see, the chapter is huge as well as the university is keeping me busy.
The next arc is a bit shorter, around 3 to 5 chapters but also the ones I have been very looking forward to.
Shattered Songs of Faith, Rubia, and To Shatter the Mirror will be updated in December due to finals and also because I need some major editing for Shattered Songs of Faith. SSoF will be getting a total of four chapters updated. The MONSTER chapter is Florencio's paralogue, part 2.
