Part 3- Confrontation With Archetype: Earth

*Outside Haruhi's Room*

"Wait, so you're telling me that Haruhi's new servant turned out to be an elemental that can reshape the planet at will?!" Kyon said in disbelief.

"Were she not restricted by her Spirit Origin, yes," Yuki clarified. "However, she only seems to consider Suzumiya-san herself as an enemy at the moment..."

"Suzumiya-san has hidden herself in closed space for now," Koizumi spoke up, still slightly out of breath. "Some of the other espers have followed her inside, ostensibly to protect her..."

"So this 'closed space' is where she has hidden herself," another voice spoke up, the trio turning to behold Archetype: Earth standing outside the door to Kyon and Haruhi's quarters. "I see... then you shall take me there at once, so I can destroy her."

"Excuse me, that's my fiancee you're talking about!" Kyon protested, marching right up to the vampire. "Why do you want to kill her, anyway?!"

"Do you not realize the threat she poses to this planet?" the vampire replied, unmoved. "Then again, you are but a mere human, so perhaps not..."

"I know full well what she is capable of! And I also know that she no intention of destroying the world!" Kyon shot back. "Have you even looked outside to see what the current state of Earth is?! Haruhi's trying to help us and everyone here fix that!"

"Kyon-kun, please calm down," Koizumi cautioned.

"Is that so? Then if the planet is in such a state, why does she not fix it right now?" Archetype: Earth countered. "That simple fact puts the lie to your assertion. I grow tired of this banter..." Her eyes suddenly glowed in rainbow colors. "Go to sleep." Kyon's eyes promptly rolled up in his head as he slid bonelessly to the floor.

"W-what did you do to him?!" Koizumi cried in shock.

"Rainbow Mystic Eyes. She simply hypnotized him to sleep," Yuki explained, even as she took a defensive stance. "That will not work on me, however."

"Then freeze," the vampire intoned, Yuki instantly encased in a pillar of ice! "Now then," she addressed Koizumi, "I assume you have the ability to enter this 'closed space'. You will take me there at once. This is not a request."

"No need!" Haruhi's voice suddenly echoed, "I'll bring you here myself!" Archetype: Earth suddenly vanished in a flash of red light! Not long after, the glacier that entombed Yuki was deleted, the interface falling to her knees, though she swiftly stood straight again.

"...I was about to launch a surprise attack, but it seems Suzumiya-san wishes to do the job herself," Yuki mused. "Koizumi-san, let us take him to the medical bay, as a precaution."

"Ah, yes, good idea," Koizumi said, taking some deep breaths to calm himself, before assisting Yuki in lifting Kyon's prone form...

*Closed Space*

Archetype: Earth found herself standing on the roof of Novum Chaldea, but the sky was a blank gray in color, with no wind or other weather in the area. (Is this... a Reality Marble?) However, the structure was similar to Earth, so her power source would not be cut off. Her gaze was then drawn to the sea, seeing several spheres of red light in the distance, as well as a few vaguely humanoid giants seemingly made of pure light... (Luminous Bodies? Or...) She then spotted a familiar figure floating amongst the spheres- Haruhi Suzumiya herself. "There you are." Holding out her hand, she immediately conjured a thunderstorm from nowhere, striking with several lightning bolts! Quite a few red spheres were struck down, revealing them to be human... (The espers,) the elemental realized. However, Haruhi herself was unaffected.

"Such power...!" Sonou Mori gasped as she floated nearby Haruhi. "What are we to do...?!"

"'We' aren't doing anything," Haruhi asserted. "Get the injured and get outta here! I'll handle her myself!"

"But, Suzumiya-sama-"

"That's an order!" Haruhi cried loudly. Mori hesitated a moment, before reluctantly bowing and vanishing from the closed space, the other espers soon following suit. Once they were all gone, Haruhi returned her attention to Archetype: Earth. "All right, Arcueid, or whoever you are, it's just you and me now!"

"Indeed it is," Archetype: Earth nodded, rising into the air herself. "And don't think those Luminous Bodies will save you..." As if to drive the point home, the Celestials were suddenly assaulted with razor-sharp winds, being swiftly cut into pieces! Haruhi was barely able to protect one Celestial's head and torso, letting it sink beneath the waves, in order to keep the closed space from collapsing. "And now for you..." But before the winds could do the same to the reality warper, she was no longer there! The vampire turned around-

-but Haruhi's attack came from above instead, the kick sending her opponent crashing back into the roof of Chaldea! But before she could follow up, Archetype: Earth teleported away, appearing above Haruhi herself, a powerful gust of wind forcing her down her down until she slammed into the roof herself! Another lightning bolt struck where she fell, only to be deflected by a force field! Narrowing her eyes, the Ultimate One gestured again with her hand...

Haruhi suddenly felt the metal beneath her growing hot, the roof suddenly coming apart as she was engulfed in an eruption of magma! (Holy shit, she's going all out!) Gritting her teeth, Haruhi teleported again, this time over the sea, breathing heavily from the close call. If she hadn't had her guard up...

"You will not escape," Archetype: Earth proclaimed, waving her hand and conjuring a tornado which swallowed her foe! But Haruhi burst out from the whirlwind attempting a frontal strike, only to be stopped and blown away by another hurricane-force wind! "It is futile. My power comes from the very planet itself... sooner or later, you will falter..."

(From the planet itself...? Wait, that's it!) Haruhi realized, closing her eyes and concentrating... suddenly the landscape melted away, leaving nothing but the dull gray that filled the closed space's boundary. "No planet, no power for you!"

"What...?! Impossible!" Archetype: Earth gasped, feeling her power drain away. Before she could try to compensate, Haruhi reappeared in front of her, finally nailing the vampire with a brutal right hook to the face! Haruhi then struck with her left fist to the ribcage, then knocked her opponent away with a roundhouse kick!

"Not so cocky now, are you?!" Haruhi taunted as she flew after the vampire, winding up another punch, only to stop and dodge to the side to evade her foe's claws! "Whoa!" Materializing a pair of black keys, she wielded them like swords to parry the vampire's follow-up strike! "Dammit, Arcueid, snap out of it!" She drove her foot into the Ultimate One's midsection, causing her to double over!

But then, the vampire was engulfed in a flash of light... When it faded, her hair was short again, now with a white flower on the right side of her head. Her dress was slightly fancier now, cut to show off her cleavage, the skirt open in the front to show off her long legs. "Wha..." Arcueid straightened up, putting a hand to her head. "Master...? What's going on? Why are we in a gray void...?"

One look into those red eyes told Haruhi that the vampire's confusion was genuine. "You don't remember? You transformed and tried to kill me!"

"Huh? I did...?" Arc grunted, before gasping as the memory suddenly came back to her. "Oh no! That other 'me' took over, and... I'm so sorry, Master! That's happened before... she took my body and did what she wanted, and she would have destroyed humanity if I hadn't confronted her inside my mind!"

"Oh, really?" Haruhi said skeptically, keeping her black keys in a defensive stance. "It doesn't seem like you're lying, but... you don't expect me to just forgive you, do you?!"

"Well, in that case... let's keep going!" Arcueid exclaimed, brandishing her claws again. "I never thought I'd have a Master that could hold their own against me... This'll be so much fun~!"

Haruhi couldn't help but crack a small smile from the vampire's enthusiasm, despite her misgivings. "Alright, fine... Just don't pitch a fit when I kick your butt, got it?"

"Right back at you!" Arc playfully shot back. And thus battle was joined once more...

*Medical Bay*

"Ugh..." Kyon groaned as he came to. "What happened?" His eyes blinked open, seeing Yuki and Koizumi standing at the foot of the bed. "Wait, where's that servant?!"

"Do not fear. The situation is well in hand," Yuki informed him. "Suzumiya-san drew Archetype: Earth into closed space to confront her directly, and from our observation, has managed to return her to her former self as Arcueid Brunestud."

"Yes, it seems now they're just fighting to blow off steam, instead of to the death, from what we could observe," Koizumi added. "Let's just hope that she stays as Arcueid from now on..." Just then, Haruhi suddenly appeared behind them, carrying a bruised, prone Arcueid in a bridal carry. "Ah, and speak of the devil..."

"Hey guys. Sorry if I worried you," Haruhi greeted. "Hey Kyon, if you're not feeling too groggy, could you move off that bed, please?"

"Oh, uh, sure," he nodded, sliding off the bed, Yuki walking over to support him as he stood up. Haruhi then set Arcueid on the bed in his place... "Hey, she looks completely different from before..."

"Yeah, this is kinda what she looked like when I first summoned her, except her clothes were more casual," Haruhi said. "She implied that other her is a different personality or something..."

"Yes," Yuki nodded. "To borrow a human expression, Arcueid Brunestud and Archetype: Earth are two sides of the same coin."

"I see," Koizumi nodded, deep in thought. "The question is, how do we stop something like this from happening again? We managed to limit collateral damage this time, but..."

"Yeah, this new servant seems like more trouble than she's worth," Kyon said. "If it were up to me, I'd say send her back to the Throne..."

"Eh, let's not jump to banishing her just yet," Haruhi disagreed. "After all, she's a Moon Cancer like BB, but unlike BB, she doesn't seem inclined to screw with people for her own amusement... Even when she was trying to kill me, she said I was a threat to the planet... and honestly, she wasn't too far off from a certain point of view."

"So, perhaps if we could convince the 'Archetype' personality that you are no threat..." Koizumi mused.

"I tried to tell her that, but she just brushed me off," Kyon shook his head. "Maybe I shouldn't have brought up Earth's current state..."

"While it is true that Suzumiya-san could potentially restore Earth to its previous state, there are still too many unknown variables," Yuki pointed out.

"Right, we still don't know who or what this 'Foreign God' is, or why she brought back the A-Team," Haruhi concurred. "And I'd rather not let them know about my power until the mastermind comes out from behind the curtain..."

"Indeed," Koizumi nodded. "Perhaps if we explain that to Arcueid-san when she wakes up... But in the meantime, perhaps we should at least restrain her to head off any more incidents."

"Good idea," Haruhi said, using her power to materialize chains and shackles that bound Arcueid to the bed. "This should do for now. I'll keep an eye on her until she wakes up. Yuki, you go and tell Lisa, Holmes, and Sion about what happened. Koizumi, you should go check on the other espers, a few got struck down trying to defend me..."

"As you wish, Suzumiya-san," Koizumi gave a brief bow before leaving.

"What about me?" Kyon asked.

"Well, you can stay with me or go with Yuki. It's your choice."

"...I think I'll stay here then. After what just happened, I'll feel better if I keep you in plain sight," Kyon said, causing Haruhi to blush slightly.

"Understood," Yuki gave a slight nod, before leaving herself. "I will attempt to ensure that Nightingale-san does not interject herself..."

"Yare yare, good idea," Kyon ducked his head.
