Fate/Kyon's Order: Arcueid's Arrival
A Haruhi Suzumiya & Fate/Grand Order Crossover Fan Fiction
by Derald Snyder
A/N: Just to be clear, I never actually played the Ooku event, so things are going to be somewhat different than canon here.
Part 10- Kasuga and Munemori
Archetype: Earth suddenly became aware of somebody giving several light slaps to her cheek... "Guh-! Wha, huh?!" Her vision refocused, seeing Haruhi's concerned face. "Suzumiya...?"
"Welcome back, Arcueid," Haruhi sighed in relief. "That gas or whatever it was, nearly seduced us both into getting buried alive..."
"Oh... that's right, now I remember..." the Ultimate One shook her head to clear the fog. "What about that Kiara...?"
"I'm the one who snapped Suzumiya out of it," Kiara said smugly. "Perhaps now you're glad you took me along?"
"Don't gloat," Haruhi said bluntly. "Come on, we have to keep going... still gotta find Ritsuka, and Kyon, and Koizumi-kun... and Gudako-chan, too..."
"I understand. I will not falter again," Archetype: Earth promised.
"I'll hold you that, don't worry," Kiara gave a smirk as the trio moved on... As they emerged into another room, however, the suits of samurai armor in said room suddenly came to life, wielding black katanas!
"Great, possessed armors," Haruhi sighed, equipping her black keys. "At least there's only six of them... Kiara, you take the left side, Arcueid, you take the right."
"Of course." "Understood." the two servants nodded, splitting up to take on the enemies. Kiara struck first, summoning an ethereal hand to crush one armor in its grip! Meanwhile, Archetype: Earth summoned a sword of light, parrying an armor's slash before cutting through both it and one behind! Another armor charged at Haruhi, who managed to stop its blade with her black keys, knocking it back with a kick to the stomach! Before it could recover, the armor was frozen in ice and broken to pieces by Archetype: Earth! Kiara easily dealt with the remaining two, using her demon pillar tentacles to simply pull them apart where they stood! "That took a little more effort this time. Kama's not pulling her punches anymore, it seems."
"Then we need to remain vigilant," Archetype: Earth nodded. "Wait, I hear something..."
"More enemies?" Haruhi guessed, hearing two sets of footfalls... But as they stepped into view, she immediately dropped her guard. "Ritsuka-kun?!"
"Haruhi! Oh, thank goodness!" The young Master sighed in relief, Parvati standing at his side, though she was dressed in a pink kimono instead of her usual Indian robes. "Am I glad to see you! Have you seen Mash or Gudako anywhere?"
"Gudako..." Haruhi frowned sadly. "She... she got taken by that Kama..."
"Did you say Kama?!" Parvati gasped, suddenly reverting to her battle attire. "Oh, no... now it all makes sense..."
"Do you know something, Lancer?" Archetype: Earth pressed.
"Parvati, please. And yes, I know who he is... Kama is the god of love who was incinerated by my husband Shiva, after he was shot with one of Kama's love arrows..."
"Why would Kama do that?" Haruhi pondered.
"It was out of necessity. Shiva and I needed to sire a child to deal with an upcoming threat, but he was too focused on his meditation... So Kama had no choice but to forcefully rouse him. My husband obviously didn't take it well, incinerating him to ashes with a lightning bolt, upon which he became Ananga, the formless love that spreads throughout the universe."
"Wait, he?! Kama was a man?!" Haruhi gasped.
"That's right. Why, how did he appear to you?" So Haruhi gave Parvati a physical description. "Oh, no... that means it's partially my fault..."
"What do you mean?" Archetype: Earth pressed.
"Well, both Masters here know that I merged my essence with a young human girl by the name of Sakura Matou, who was a Master in a previous Grail War," the goddess explained. "However, I only took on the positive qualities of Sakura... but she also had a deep darkness within her. Kama likely took that lingering negativity to fashion a new vessel to manifest in himself... Most likely he did it to spite me personally."
"That's a lot of bad blood, isn't it?" Kiara said with a smirk.
"Huh?! Kiara Sessyoin?! What's she doing here?!" Ritsuka cried in shock.
"Apparently the one responsible for the singularity is Beast III's other half, which is how Kiara was able to manifest here," Haruhi explained. "I had no choice but to form a contract with her, because she was the only one who had any idea about what was going on here... and she saved us from one Kama's traps just now. Though, I'm still not sure if Kama IS Beast III/L, or just working with said Beast, though..."
"We'll probably find out soon enough," Parvati sighed. "Don't worry, I'll be sure to keep an eye on this Kiara for you, just in case..."
"Yeah, by the way, what were you doing dressed in a kimono earlier?" Haruhi recalled.
"Oh, that... Well, I should probably let her explain..." Parvati's clothes suddenly shifted back to the kimono from earlier. "Hello, everyone. My name is Saito Fuku, though you might know me as Kasuga-no-Tsubone."
"Kasuga-no-Tsubone?!" Haruhi gasped. "Tokugawa Iemitsu's wet nurse?!"
"So you've heard of me," Kasuga chuckled. "Yes, well, I was on my deathbed before Parvati was nice enough to take my soul into her body for the time being. I'm afraid this labyrinth is partially my fault..." her expression turned sad. "My dying wish was to be able to guide the Tokugawas in perpetuity... and now it's all been twisted into this by that so-called love goddess..."
"Actually, Kasuga has been a great help in navigating through this place," Ritsuka noted. "Even if it's not exactly the same, she remembers the original layout of Ooku well enough to know where most of the dead-ends are..."
"So that's the trick," Haruhi mused. "I thought the correct route through the previous floors seemed awfully similar to each other... only the dead-ends changed. Maybe Kama doesn't have as perfect control over this domain as she wants us to believe..."
"You may have a point," Parvati said as she took back control. "But that doesn't mean Kama won't lead us into a false sense of security only to lure us into a trap later... We need to remain vigilant."
"Right," Haruhi and Ritsuka agreed.
"We should get moving then, for the other Master's sake," Archetype: Earth said. "Kasuga-no-Tsubone, you lead the way."
"As you wish," Kasuga agreed as she came forth again, leading the party out of the room.
*On the next floor...*
"Strange how we haven't encountered any enemies yet..." Ritsuka noted. But then, the sounds of steel clashing against steel were heard in the distance.
"Seems we're late to the party," Kiara chuckled.
"It might be one of our friends! Let's hustle!" Haruhi ordered, the group running towards the noises, soon emerging into a room that resembled a dojo of sorts. There they saw an older Japanese man taking on several demonic samurai! "Who's that?"
"Yagyu Tajima-no-kami Munemori?!" Kasuga gasped.
"Tajima-no-kami?! From Shimousa?" Ritsuka comprehended. "It is him! I'd remember that sword-fighting style anywhere!"
"He does seem to be holding his own rather well," Archetype: Earth noted. Indeed, that was almost an understatement, as Tajima-no-kami seemed to disarm and cut down his enemies with practiced ease.
"...Well, how about we take care of the samurai at the peripheries?" Haruhi suggested.
"Very well," the vampire princess nodded, summoning a small thunderstorm that struck down the enemies farthest from Tajima-no-kami with lightning bolts! The display didn't go unnoticed by the old man, looking briefly in the party's direction before returning his attention to the samurai before him, parrying a slice before cutting off the armor's hands, then beheading it for good measure, the enemy dissipating into black smoke soon afterward.
"...Pathetic. These fools simply flail around with their slabs of metal, even my worst students would be ashamed," Munemori muttered as he sheathed his katana. Turning to the party, he gave a formal bow. "Well met. I am servant Saber, known as Yagyu Tajima-no-kami Munemori. I assume you are Masters?"
"Yeah, I'm Haruhi Suzumiya, 49th Master of Chaldea," Haruhi returned the bow. "And Ritsuka here apparently remembers you..."
"Does he?" Yagyu raised an eyebrow. "I don't recall having met this one... and yet, he does seem familiar somehow..."
"It's probably for the best," Ritsuka shrugged. "Last time we met, you turned out to be an enemy... But I'd rather have you fighting at our side this time."
"I see... well, if you want my blade, then you shall have it. But who is this fiend who walks among you?" Yagyu glared at Kiara.
"Oh, just a temporary ally," Kiara smiled. "We just happen to share a common goal, that's all..."
"Hmph. Best be on your guard with this one, Masters," Yagyu said bluntly, before turning to Parvati. "And you are?"
"You don't...? Oh, right, this isn't my original body..." Kasuga sighed. "Well, in that case... Yagyu Tajima-no-kami! How dare you unsheathe your katana and spill blood in my Ooku! Is this your way of paying respect to the Tokugawa Shogunate?!"
"Guh...! This forceful personality...!" Yagyu took a step back. "Kasuga-no-Tsubone?! Is that you?"
"Ah, you finally recognize me," Kasuga smiled. "Yes, I'm sharing a body with this divine servant for the time being, acting as a guide to Ritsuka-kun here."
"Ah, I see," Munemori gave a rare smile. "Well met, Kasuga. It's good to meet a familiar face. If this is Ooku, then I understand why I was summoned here. So you will be fighting with us? You're no slouch with a naginata, if I recall correctly..."
"...yes, but I sadly don't have any such weapon with me," Kasuga lamented. "So Parvati will have to do the fighting in my stead, I'm afraid... But I shall do all I can to assist you and the Masters.
"Just be careful, Tajima-no-kami," Haruhi cautioned, "this maze has a way of trying to corrupt you into lust and decadence... I nearly fell into one such trap myself."
"Do not worry, Suzumiya-san. As a samurai, I vowed to dispense with any worldly desires. The temptations of this place will not affect me," Yagyu said firmly.
"That's good to hear. Welcome on board, Tajima-no-kami," Ritsuka said with a smile.
"On to the next floor, then. Lead the way, Kasuga-oba-san," Haruhi said.
*At the bottom...*
"Kama! Kaaaaaaamaaaa!" Where are you?!" Gudako called.
"You don't have to shout, I'm right here," said a busty woman floating in midair.
"No! I mean the real Kama! You're just a copy," Gudako denied.
"Silly girl. Everyone here IS me, is Kama and Mara..."
"...Ugh, fine. So why did you tie up and gag that BB like that?!" the redhead complained. "I mean, everyone says she's a bad girl who can't be trusted, but isn't that a little extreme?!"
"It's quite simple. That Moon Cancer is the one who ruined my counterpart's plans," Kama explained. "Like hell I'd take any chances with her! And the only reason I'm letting you run around is because you're no threat to me."
"I don't wanna be a threat!" Gudako argued. "You don't have to do this, Kama-chan! Ritsuka is a really nice Master, and so is Haruhi once you earn her trust! I'm sure you'd be welcomed at Chaldea!"
"...You really are an idiot, aren't you," the goddess frowned. "Well, don't worry. Soon Ritsuka and Suzumiya will become very intimate with me... Hmhmhmhmmm..."
*To be continued...*
