In Japan, there is lively activity in a particular area of the continent. That said area is Miyaji Academy, one of the prestigious high schools in the country. The students that were lucky to be accepted into the school are all wearing their dress code. This of which includes a white undershirt and a red and black blazer. Despite the same outfit, they all have different expressions on their faces. While some students are focusing on studying, some are socializing with their friends. Despite being active with the school, some of the students are not thinking about it.

One of those said people, who has a worried expression on her face is student, Misaki Tokura. As her pink hair waves in the wind, she is putting up Missing Person posters across the school. "Oh Aichi, it's been such a long time, where are you?" she says gloomily, whilst looking at the boy in the posters. While Misaki is wearing the girl's outfit, Aichi has the boy's dress code on. In the photo, he has blue hair, black eyes, and is holding up a card in his left hand. After finishing what she has in her stack, she heads over to another girl. She is also placing the same posters outside the school but in the same area. Whilst she is younger than Misaki, she has a different school outfit. Her uniform is mainly grayish-black and has a different school symbol on her back. It also has a few tear tracks over it. "Misaki," she worriedly says to her while looking at the photos with tearful eyes. "I'm so worried about my brother..." Misaki placed an assuring hand on her shoulder, "Don't worry Emi, we are all looking near and far for Aichi. I'm sure that your brother can't be too far."

"How about some Vanguard when we get to Card Capital?", Misaki asks Emi, "That'll cheer you up, no doubt." Emi smiles at Misaki's invitation, before rubbing her eyes and clearing any tears from her face. After finishing putting up posters, the girls each picked up their things, and together they headed off to Card Capital. The place itself is a trading card game shop. The most popular game that was played inside, and around the world is known as Cardfight Vanguard. Basically, the players take on a role of a leader or hero, leading an army against another to win. The game is said to take place on the planet Cray. While it's similar to Earth, it's also the battleground where the cardfights took place. It is a fun game, but at certain times, the action became very real and the stakes were high. This is because, for Misaki and her friends, it was the center of battles for the world and Cray. When the automatic doors open, there are a few people inside, all men, of different ages and clothes on.

The person behind the counter is typing on a computer, whilst looking after a cat in a little basket. He has darkish green hair, a blue and black collared shirt, and has a blue apron tied around his back. The other two are younger than the man behind the counter. The one nearest to him is the green-eyed man that has a blue suit and black tie. The outfit is most likely a school uniform. The other is the youngest of the boys in the entire room. He is a black-eyed boy, with the same school symbol as Emi. However, his outfit is mostly gray and white and the symbol is on his chest. The kitten inside the basket then opens its green eyes and stretches. As he stretches out, he not only greets Misaki and Emi, but also alerts the other guys in the room and they turn to face them.

The man behind the desk stands up first, "Oh, Hello Misaki, Emi, how did it go with you?" The girls just shake their heads, as Misaki admits, "No such luck near Miyagi Academy, Uncle Shin." as the others sigh in despondency. The cat even looks sad as the girls give them the news. Emi then looks to the boys at the table, "How about you, Kai and Kamui, any luck on your end?" The brown-haired Kai just shakes his head before looking at a card. The black-haired Kamui shakes his head before rubbing his eyes, "No... I do miss my "Big Bro", just as much as you do, Emi."

Emi also shakes her head in agreement, before noticing something on the table that Kai is at. She comes over and Kai looks at her sternly, "What is it, Emi? I was looking at Blaster Blade Seeker if you were wondering." Emi looks at the card, then eyes something off, "Look at this, Kai. Does Aichi's card ever have that?" She points to a red and white ball on the white and blue colored knight's belt. Kai eyes it and is taken aback a little, "No, I've never seen this on Blaster Blade, at all..." As they continue their findings, Shin comes over, then Misaki, and then Kamui. As everyone comes around to eye the strange object, an invisible blue wave comes around to do something, but as that occurs, the card glows. "Did you see that?", Misaki says as she's the first to notice this. "We all saw it, Misaki," Kai says rudely, but attentively. The waves soon become visible and as everyone looks at the waves, a group of voices says, "You will never remember Aichi, ever again..." Everyone looks at the waves with different emotions. While Kai and Misaki are angrily looking at them, Kamui, Shin, and Emi are looking on worriedly. Just as the waves come forward, the card glows again, and the waves stop. The mishap causes a girl's voice to call forth, "What? How is this possible?" A male's voice then comes, "This should've been effective enough..." Emi then notices the card pulsing a blue glow. She grabs the card, "I know that I can't speak to you, but please... if you can hear my voice..." Emi closes her eyes in fear before looking at the waves confidently and shouts "STAND UP BLASTER BLADE!" At that moment, the card glows a bright blue and it pushes the waves back. As the glow grows bigger and brighter the voices become angry, "How... is this... POSSIBLE?!" As the glow envelops everyone inside, everyone covers up in protection. As the light dies down, the entirety of the store is now deserted, with a closed sign on the door. Ultimately, there was no sign of where the light has taken Aichi's friends to.

Meanwhile, in another strange world, in a place called Pallet Town, a sprawling grassy field waves in the calm breezes. The lush, green, and grassy fields are near a nearby building, with a huge windmill attached to the top of one of its joining structures. Nearby the building and on the grassy field, are some unusual-looking creatures. While some have features relating to bugs, others have features relating to sea creatures. These creatures all inhabit the world, from mountains to seas, to reaches of the sky. These mysterious beings are known throughout the world as Pokémon.

Throughout the Pokémon world, which consists of several regions, some people as young as ten years old, can have a desire. That desire is to go on a journey as Trainer. They can catch Pokémon and use them to take part in battles against other trainers. However, battling is only half of the fun of being a trainer. Throughout their journey, they take care of their Pokémon as well. One might say that if a trainer is taking care of their Pokémon, it's like taking care of a family.

Even though a trainer is called a "trainer", there are other ways to explore the existence of Pokémon. The first path is a Trainer can take is a Coordinator. Pokémon Coordinators use their Pokémon's moves to not only show off but also to appeal to the audience watching. Another path that a trainer can take, is known as a Pokémon Performer. A Pokémon Performer is similar to a Pokémon Coordinator, but they put on dances and test skills with their Pokémon. The last of the known paths that a person can take part in, is known as Pokémon Research. A Pokémon Researcher does investigations to answer very puzzling questions. All of the hidden mysterious info about Pokemon is shared among others, and they all try to make sense of it. That brings us to the subject of the building near the field.

Inside the building, an older man is going about a room doing his research. "Hmm... this is very strange, I've never seen events like this before," before putting some books away on a nearby bookshelf. The bookcase is filled to the brim with research from other professors and researchers. The bookcase is also near all kinds of machinery. While other machines are and some of the devices have red and white-colored balls on them. As the researcher types information at a computer, documenting his findings, a voice comes from the nearby staircase.

"Professor Oak, it's me, Tracey! I have some startling news, can I speak with you?" Oak, in his white lab coat, brown boots, and red undershirt, gets out of his chair and heads down the stairs quickly to meet the young man. Tracey wears a short-sleeved green shirt, with an orange backpack on his back. His dark red shorts and tennis shoes are covered in dirt and a little mud. Not only that but parts of his olive-green hair are messed up.

Oak has a concerned look on his face as he looks at his assistant. "Tracey, my boy, what seems to be the problem? Did you run away from an angry Pokémon?" "No, Professor," Tracey said as he brushes off the dirt on his shorts, "I found an interesting item, I'm not sure what this is, but I discovered it at a cave on Route 1. I ran over as soon as I could." Oak, with a curious look on his face, then says to his young assistant, "Let's go upstairs and take a look at this finding that you've found."

They don't realize it yet, but soon, they'll alert a certain young trainer. This young trainer will soon be notified by Oak and Tracey. After that, they will tell him about this item, as well as a certain destiny that awaits him...
