It's another new day in Lumiose City, but things have changed ever since the first Cardfight. As everyone has their breakfast, the newscasters explain a new craze that's been going on. That said craze just so happens to be Vanguard. Ever since the filming of the game between Ash and Kai, everyone around the world wanted to get in on the new craze. "This is spreading like wildfire," Serena pointed out the news, "I just can't believe that it would cause this much craziness." However, that wouldn't be all that the news would share. As the news also reports, more new people have been coming to the Kalos Region, all with the same interests and love of Vanguard. The Cardfighters each look at each other with concern, as they think that these people could be friends of theirs. "Kai?," Ash called out to the leader of the fighters, "Could they be, as you say, "mates" of Aichi too?" He nods just like the other fighters nod. "We should get out there, everyone," Emi announced to everyone, "The more mates that we rescue, the closer we will get to Aichi!" The entirety of the trainers, Cardfighters, and all of the Pokémon, all cheer in agreement and joy.

After everyone exits the lab, there are stopped by a promotion poster at the closest billboard at one Prism Tower square. Sycamore said that the Vanguard news has been spreading around like wildfire, at least, that's what his assistants and fellow adults have said. The said news is for a very special Vanguard tournament. A mysterious group known as the Quatre Knights has challenged this region and the entire world to the first-ever "Worlds Collide Cardfight Vanguard Grand Tournament!". The format for the tournament is an intriguing one, but also an inviting one. The format will consist of 4 Levels, each one bringing new mechanics and strategies to the game. As the world would learn more about the game, the more their strength will grow. At each tournament, created teams will compete to battle the "Gate Keepers" based on the level that they are at. Beginners start at Level 1 and use the selected cards provided in the new Vanguard app, to defeat the other teams. If the teams have been defeated, the winners will reach the Gate Keepers' stronghold. Once at the stronghold, they'll prove their worth on that level, by facing the Gate Keepers on that Level. Defeating them will give them access to the next level. That's also not to mention that they'll have another level of cards to pick from. Each level will increase in difficulty, the cards will be tougher, and the Gatekeepers will be stronger. In the end, if a team gets through all 4 levels of competition, they'll face the Quatre Knights. Should they be defeated, they'll face a mysterious fighter, which, when looking at the photo in the promotion, Kai notices the figure to be a familiar friend. "That silhouette... there's no mistaking it, that has to be... Aichi Sendou," Kai says to the group, who are also looking at the poster. While the Cardfighters are huddled up with each other, the other people and the trainers are confused. The fighters then turned around to face the trainers. Shin was the first to speak to the others. "You know, back in our world, I was the coach of our Team, Team Q4. It was Aichi, along with Misaki, Kamui, and Kai." The trainers look at each other and realize that they're in the presence of champions in their own right. Bonnie is a little worried, "Will you still be friends with us? I'm worried that we might separate..." Misaki and Emi step forward and proceed to kneel to her level. "Don't worry, Bonnie," Misaki speaking to the youngest of the girls, "We will stick together, no matter what comes at us." Misaki even shows her a deck and Emi shows a deck, but she has her deck loaded onto her gauntlet. "As soon as we decide our clans," Misaki says, smiling at Bonnie, "You can side with the Oracle Think Tank and use this deck against Emi in your first fight!" Emi looks at Bonnie, who smiles giddily. It's the same mood that the others are feeling, as each person looks at each other with confidence.

Now it was time for the group to select their unique clans. According to the Cardfighters, on Cray, the units are divided into clans based on their traits, creatures, and battle styles. On the trainers' side, Ash opts to stick with the Royal Paladins, as well as to remember Aichi. Bonnie decides to accept the Oracle Think Tank clan and loads the deck, ready for battle. Serena, based on her goal, to be the best Pokémon performer, chooses the Pale Moon clan. Clemont opts to choose the Tachikaze clan, which has science and ancient prehistoric creatures combined into one devastating army. Meanwhile, on the Cardfighters' side, Kai sticks with the Kagero Clan, where the fearsome dragons and demons roam. Misaki goes with the Genesis clan, similar to her previous clan, that Bonnie now owns. The Genesis clan relies on protectors, sorcerers, and harmony with nature. Kamui decides to stick with his trusty Nova Grapplers. With this clan, it's all about aggressive attacks. The units that are mostly associated with this clan include robotics, enhanced animals, and futuristic superheroes. Emi, despite being one of the youngest, goes with the Bermuda Triangle clan. This clan is mostly home to aquatic creatures, mainly mermaids, and they are very talented mermaids at that. In the Trainer's eyes, their selected clans are just like their Pokémon. They are more friends, allies, and more resources to help find their goals. In the cardfighters eyes, the clans are similar to themselves. Together though, these units will help them find Aichi, as well as find Total Victory in the Grand Tournament. "Well, we've all chosen our clans," Emi begins, "You know what that means, right, Bonnie?" Bonnie looks at her newest friend with no fear and a mood of a trainer or a Cardfighter should have. That mood is to have a fight and to have the experience to remember. "Of course, Emi!," Bonnie answered back, "It's my first Cardfight!"

Around the entirety of the city, the crowd near the iconic Prism Tower is just minding their business. Their own business is changed when someone calls out that something is going on. The small crowd then sees a group of people, watching over two young girls, now a few feet away from each other. The smaller crowds soon turn into one large crowd and then surrounds the small group. As the crowd comes closer, Misaki is one of the first people to notice them. "We've got an audience, Uncle Shin," she says to him, with a worried look. "Guys?," Bonnie called out to her friends, "If this crowd is here, shall we give them a Cardfight they'll never forget?" The others nodded and steps back to the makeshift sidelines. Shin then steps forward to make the answering announcement to the entirety of the crowd. "Everyone, you are about to witness something extraordinary, it's the first-ever public game of Vanguard!" The crowd is intrigued as they look at the announcer and the two opponents. "To my left, from here in Lumiose City, it's Team NXT V4's Bonnie!," Shin shouted out as if he was the announcer of a wrestling match. The crowd cheers as Bonnie loads up her gauntlet with her deck. After Shin announces Bonnie, he announces her opponent, in the same fashion. "To my right, is her opponent, also from Lumiose City, is Team Q4's newest member, and sister to the legendary champion Aichi Sendou, Emi Sendou!" The crowd also cheers for Emi, as she loads up her deck. "Now that you've loaded your decks," Shin called out to the two young girls, "Will both of you young fighters place your First Vanguard?" The two girls take one of their cards and place it on their gauntlet. As the excitement builds, the news crew comes by and the crowd expands to almost one hundred people to see this new craze in person. "I want to see a good clean Cardfight, you two," Shin says, calling out to the two players, "Are you ready Bonnie and Emi?" Bonnie nods before calling out to Emi, "Are you ready to put on a show, Emi?" "You better believe it, Bonnie," Emi called out to her opponent, "It's time that we lift the curtain on finding our mate, Aichi, and to the beginning of a new friendship!" The crowd cheers as the two make their declarations. Shin smiles as he thinks about something, "This is it, good luck you two, if Aichi was here, he would love to see you two battle each other." Shin then adjusts his glasses as he announces to the crowd, "Everyone, on the count of three, we will all declare, "Stand up, My Vanguard!", to begin this new age of battling." The crowd waits for the countdown to begin. When the countdown began, the crowd knew what to say to get the celebration and fun underway.

"STAND UP, MY VANGUARD!"

As the crowd called out for both fighters to "Stand Up", the two young girls reveal their starting Vanguards. Emi opts to stand up with Bermuda Triangle Cadet, Riviere. She now has golden hair, a white school shirt, and a blue dress to match her starting unit. Bonnie, however, stands up a unit that takes to the sky, Godhawk, Ichibyoshi. Bonnie then has a cape appear around her neck that splits into separate sections to replicate the blue feathers. The trainer even sports a human-sized replica of the bird's necklace. Emi decides to go first and just like Kai teaching Ash, she will teach Bonnie. Emi's turn begins with her riding into Grade 1, Mermaid Idol, Riviere. Emi then activates two skills, one that's passive, the other is immediate. The passive skill: if the Cadet form of Riviere is in the soul, the Vanguard would gain 1000 power at all times. The immediate skill was that Emi would now search the top 7 cards of her deck for a card that would fit into the Riviere archetype. She does so and then proceeds to call Mermaid Idol, Sedna. As she does so, one of her Pokeballs popped open to reveal one of Ash's friends. That said friend is Ash's Oshawott. The class clown of Ash's Unova team, and mostly resembles a sea otter. As it appears, it spins out and proceeds to land with its scalchop turning into a crown. Emi then ends her turn, since she can't attack the first turn of a Cardfight.

Bonnie would draw for her first turn, but her ride phase would be interrupted by the skill of her Vanguard. "Alright, since I have Godhawk's skill, it allows me to ride...", Bonnie says as she skims the text, but she is shocked about the terms, "But it has to be one of the five cards from the top of my deck?!" She hopes for the best but frowns to no avail. This is because none of the five cards that she looks at doesn't reveal the Goddess of the Crescent Moon, Tsukuyomi. Luckily, there are two pieces of good news. The first piece comes from the second part of Godhawk's effect. The cards would be placed on the bottom of the deck in whatever order she chooses. The second piece of good news is that she has a copy of Tsukuyomi's Crescent Moon form in her hand. She proceeds to ride that unit and then spawn the clothing. The appearance includes a white gown and a golden headpiece, similar to the current unit's appearance. Bonnie then attacks, despite with no boost, and Emi doesn't guard. As Bonnie reveals her drive check, it reveals to be a Stand Trigger. The result though is bittersweet. As she does give the 5000 power bonus to her Vanguard. However, the Stand effect, which allows a resting rear guard to stand up, doesn't work. This is mainly because Bonnie has no extra units to make her rearguard. Nevertheless, she adds the card to her hand and Emi does her damage check. Emi reveals a trigger in her check, but the effects didn't matter as it was the end of Bonnie's turn.

It was now Emi's second turn as she looks at her opponent with a little worry. "What could she be planning?" she thinks in her head, as she proceeds to draw. Emi then declares that she will ride Super Idol, Riviere. Emi's dress becomes more extravagant and her hair becomes longer, as well as more golden. However, like Emi, this form of Riviere is not just a pretty face. Since she rode this while the grade 1 form was in the soul, Emi not only gets to draw a card, but her Vanguard gets a permanent boost of 1000 power. Emi then lights up her stage by calling 3 additional units to the field. To her right, she moves Sedna back and then calls, Diva of Clear Waters, Izumi. In that same circle area, she sees Ash's Gible appear, spawning gray flowing ribbons around its horn areas. The units keep on coming as to the circle behind Emi, to represent the Blazer Idols, Ash's Noctowl comes out. Then to Emi's left, to represent the Top Idol, Aqua, she watches her Taurus come out. As the formation keeps building, the crowd is impressed, but Bonnie is worried. She would be more worried as Emi began the attack with her left rear guard, Aqua. Bonnie braces for impact as she calls out No Guard and proceeds to do a damage check. "Darn, nothing there," Bonnie says as she frustratingly puts the card in her damage zone, "I'm 5 damage away from defeat..." Emi then attacks with her Vanguard, supported by Blazer Idols. Bonnie now looks at her options to see if she can block the incoming 18,000 power attack(9,000 V-Power 6,000 Rear Guard Boost 3,000 Power from abilities from both units). "Quickly, Emergency Alarmer and Victory Maker, protect your Goddess!," Bonnie announces as she calls her Guardians. "Hmm...," Kai says as he looks at the current situation, "The score at this moment is 18,000 Power for Emi, but now it's 22,000 for Bonnie." Ash caught on and followed up with his statement, "Looks like Bonnie needs to hope that Emi doesn't pull something good." The crowd held its breath as Emi does her drive check. "Got it! Heal Trigger Activated!," Emi announced to everyone. The result shocks everyone on the Trainers' side, as well as the crowd. Not only does Emi heal her only point of damage, but she breaks through Bonnie's shield. Bonnie now frowns as she looks at her damage check. "Wow, it's a Heal Trigger of my own!," Bonnie says to her Trainer friends. The crowd cheers for her as her Vanguard becomes more defensive with a power of 12,000 and her damage count stays at 1. As Emi goes in for her last attack, a total of 16,000, Bonnie lets it go through.

Now it's Bonnie's second turn as she stands and draws. Now Bonnie gets to activate the skill of her Vanguard, this time, trying to find Tsukuyomi's Half Moon form. She does find that unit and rides her. Bonnie now spawns a sword and shield as she sends the rest of the cards onto the bottom of the deck. Bonnie now calls a copy of Tsukuyomi's Half Moon form to her left-hand rear guard. To that same spot, Ash's Staraptor appears with a color scheme similar to her Vanguard. "Emi, thanks to my Vanguards' skill," Bonnie called out to her opponent, "Since Godhawk and Crescent are in the soul, I can soul charge twice." Shin then explains that what Bonnie means by soul charging is that she takes the specific amount of cards for the cost, in this case, 2, and places them underneath the Vanguard. Bonnie then tries to attack with the Vanguard. "She may be weaker than Emi," Misaki pointed out the difference in strength, "If Bonnie pulls a trigger, though, she can deal damage to Emi." The crowd oohs as Bonnie tries to make the drive check work. The crowd then groans as there was no trigger revealed. Bonnie then heads for Emi's right rear guard with her rear guard, as it's the only unit she can hit successfully. The attack was successful, as the Pokémon headed to the Pokeball and the unit headed to the Drop Zone. "I end my turn, Emi," Bonnie announced to her friend, "Let's see what your friends in the clan can do!" The crowd claps and cheers as they can't wait to see what the fight has yet to show.

It's Emi's third turn and the 5th turn overall in the fight. She now stands up her units and draws a card, with a little grimace. A small smile appears as Emi rides a Grade 3, "She's not Riviere, but she's still a Top Idol, and her name is Pacifica!" As she slams the unit, Emi's outfit now changes with her having a pink dress, a crown, and a pinkish gold scepter. Emi then activates her Vanguard's ability, which does two things. First, it lets her soul charge 1, and then she puts a card from her hand onto the bottom of the deck. "Bonnie, I hope that you are ready," Emi announced to her friend, "Because thanks to my Vanguard's ability since there are 4 rear-guards, my Vanguard gains 3000 power!" The youngest Cardfighter then proceeds to call Super Idol, Riviere, and have her female Tauros come out. Bonnie looks at her hand, as Emi is ready to make her attacks. Emi starts with Aqua, as Bonnie braces for impact. Bonnie proceeds to do a damage check, which reveals nothing. Emi goes in with her Vanguard, with a total of 19,000 power. "I'll guard with Battle Sister, Ginger, and Intercept with my Rear Guard!", Bonnie announced her defenders to Emi. The score now stands at 24,000 for Bonnie, while it's 19,000 for Emi. It's the same situation as two turns ago, but now, Emi has her twin drive. The crowd holds their breath as Emi does just that. "First check, no trigger. The second check...", Emi says to herself before revealing the second card, "Got it! Draw Trigger!" The crowd has mixed emotions as Bonnie does her now 4th damage check, which does nothing. The final attack goes through, but to Bonnie's relief, the damage check comes up as a Heal Trigger.

It's now Bonnie's 3rd turn and things are not looking good for her. She's sitting at 4 damage and has no full formation. However, thanks to her Vanguard's skill, she can superior ride again, but only if she can pull the right card. Bonnie doesn't pull the card but then looks at her hand. "The changing of the moon can't be stopped, just like our newfound journey," Bonnie proclaimed as the crowd looks at her with amazement. "To find Aichi, we all must come full circle, just like my new Vanguard, Goddess of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi!" As she rides, a full moon appears and as this happens, the sun and moon shine over her. The light from these two astronomic sights now grants her a stunning dress, as well as a set of wings, and a stunning full moon shield and sword. The trainers are astounded at Bonnie's outfit, with Serena the one that's mostly awed. "It fits her so well, don't you think?", she says looking towards Misaki. The clan user nods in approval, as she looks at Bonnie, who is now calling another unit, Psychic Bird. "You're not going to be on the field for long," Bonnie says to her unit with a frown, "But by putting you into the soul, I can draw one card." As she does so, Bonnie also activates her Vanguard's skill. With that skill, she can counter-blast 2 and then draw 2 from the deck. Then, one of the cards in her hand goes to the soul. She does this again, then looks at the options in her hand. "Emi," Bonnie says to her opponent, "We now can both draw two cards since I'm calling two Dark Cats to the field!" Everyone is shocked as Bonnie makes her comeback. That's not even counting the fact that she now has a full formation after calling three more units. Starting from left to right, Bonnie starts her attack with Silent Tom supported by Dark Cat. In that same column, it is Ash's Corphish being supported by one of Ash's female Tauros. Emi doesn't guard and proceeds to her damage check, which finds nothing. Bonnie comes in with her Vanguard supported by Oracle Guardian, Gemini. In that column, it's Ash's Staraptor, supporting from behind her. Emi also lets this one through as Bonnie does her twin drive. "First check, Draw Trigger, the power will go to my Battle Maiden, Tagitsuhime!," Bonnie announced to the crowd, "Second Check is a... Critical Trigger!" The crowd murmured with excitement as the double trigger was pulled. "With the effects," Bonnie called out her plans, "I'll give the Critical to my Vanguard and the power to Tagitsuhime!" Emi braces as the lights become too much as an explosion comes, followed by her damage checks. The first check is a Draw Trigger, but the second reveals nothing. Emi does nothing for the next attack and the crowd is curious as to what's going on. The 4th overall damage check shows nothing there. Clemont's jaw dropped after Bonnie made a major comeback.

It's now Emi's turn and it's now even ground for both fighters. After Emi stands up for her 4th turn, she activates the effect of her Vanguard. The effect afterward then leads her to fill her last spot with Mermaid Idol, Riviere. Emi then starts the assault on Emi's field with Aqua supported by Mermaid Idol, Riviere. Bonnie decides to not guard and do a damage check. The check brings nothing good, but more bad news will be coming. That will come if Emi attacks Bonnie's Vanguard successfully one more time. "Now with support from the Blazer Idols," Emi announced to her opponent, "my Vanguard attacks yours!" Bonnie now opts to guard with Ginger and then intercept with her Battle Maiden. "The score is 26,000 vs 19,000," Ash says looking at the field overview on his Pokédex, "Emi needs 2 triggers to make this attack successful..." Emi then does a Twin Drive to find the double trigger pull. The first check is a Critical trigger, but she decides to give the effects for her standing rear guard. Kamui was shocked, but why wouldn't he? If another trigger came, it would've been a bad move. "The second check...," Emi says before pulling the second check, "Whew. No trigger, I still have another attack in the wings." The attack is coming at Bonnie, but she drops three cards to guard the attack.

Bonnie is now in the fight of her life, she's at 4 damage, and so is her opponent. Looking at her cards, she decides to go all out. "My new friends may be beautiful, but they are also deadly," Bonnie says cracking a smile, "My Final Turn starts with 2 copies of Evil Eye Princess, Euryale!" As the crowd murmurs with shock, Bonnie's team comes out supporting green eyes and a purple katana. But as they appear, their eyes turn into beams of energy shooting towards Emi's hand. Misaki then explains what's happening, "It's her effect, you guys. If the Vanguard has a soul of 6 or more cards, a card at random is bound, and is unable to be used until the end of the turn." Emi is shocked at the cards that were bound, as she looks to face Bonnie, who is ready to attack. The first attack is the Euryale on Bonnie's left, but Emi guards with Bubblin and intercepts with Riviere making the score 20,000 to 17,000. Bonnie tries again, but with her right column, only to be guarded by Ressac. "My final attack will be with Tsukuyomi supported by Gemini!," Bonnie declares as she rests her units. Emi responds by guarding with Rainie and intercepting Aqua. Clemont looks at the situation and it doesn't look good. "Bonnie needs two triggers in a row to win the game," he says with a worried look on his face. The crowd all look on at Bonnie, as she pulls what could be, her final Twin Drive. "My first check...", Bonnie murmurs as the crowd becomes entranced, "Got one and it's Critical! All effects to my Vanguard!" The crowd "oohs" as Bonnie prepares to do her second check. "My second check...," the crowds' murmurs become silenced as Bonnie draws the card. "Got it! A Heal Trigger!," Bonnie announces as she shows the trigger to the spectators. Bonnie then jumps up and becomes amazed to see that she's flying. She then comes straight toward Emi, and announces, "Let's go Tsukuyomi, FULL MOON SLASH!" As she comes in for Emi, who braces for the attack, she slashes using her included golden sword. Emi then looks at her damage checks, which she will need one heal trigger to survive. The first check shows nothing, the second check shows a trigger. However, the trigger was not a heal trigger. Emi drops to a knee in defeat, but with a smile on her face. As the field disappears, the units go away as well, and the Pokémon return to their Pokéballs. Shin then steps forward as both girls head to him. "The winner of this fight by damage count, from Team NXT V4, it's Bonnie!", Shin announces as he raises her hand in Victory. The two young Cardfighters then look at each other and shake hands, each having a smile on their face. Before long though, the crowd begins to part as the fun is over. But, as they part, a threesome reveals themselves. As they are revealed, some of the Cardfighters are caught off guard by who they see. One of the young men, who has red hair, looks at the two groups with a smile and a friendly expression. "So, you are our first opponents?," the fighter says, "This'll be fun, but I take it that's not all you're here for is it?" Kai immediately recognized that face as he approached him. "Ren... long time no see."

Lumiose City has now experienced what it's like to see a Cardfight in action!

However, who are these new people, and are they rivals or allies of Team Q4?

Next time: "Calling from beyond the Rivals and the Vanguards!"
