Static Shock
Nothing I can think of here, so let us begin.
Chapter 2
We go to U.A. the next day, of course. Regardless of anything, principle Nezu is one of the smartest beings on the planet, and more than smart enough to know that something this important isn't something to joke about.
It took me an hour to realize that Nezu probably wasn't talking about my reincarnation. No, more likely is that he figured out my Quirk made it easy for me to find out about All Might's injury, and possibly OfA. And he would be right, even without my metaknowledge.
After a quick exchange of concerns and reassurances between me and my parents, I entered his office. His office is surprisingly comfortable, despite being an almost clone of the stereotypical principal's office. Maybe due to the arrangement, or the paint, or any number of things.
He, of course, was sitting in that big chair behind the desk. Quickly, but not so much as to be considered excessively nervous or guilty, I sat in front of said desk.
"Good morning, Mr. Vam- ah, I see I was right. Mr. Shirou, then?" He begins warmly, then interrupts himself before I can realize I had given a reaction. I nod to him.
"Would you like some tea?" He asks me.
I give him a shrug, "I wouldn't mind, though I haven't had much before,"
"Perhaps a simple green tea would be best, then."
He gets up and walks over to a small alcove in the wall, getting out an already prepared, but still visibly warm tea kettle and a couple of cups. Okay then. Not going to think about it.
I took a sip, and let myself think about it for a moment. Not bad, but it probably wouldn't be my favorite type. I expressed the same to Nezu, and he nodded as if he expected that answer. He probably did.
"Now, onto why you're here. As I told you before, you are in no trouble; I just want reassurance that you won't talk about those secrets you've figured out. Not that I believe you would, but it is best to make sure," he says as he taps a button, making some papers pop out onto his desk. An internal printer?
As I pick up the papers, I ask, "About All Might's Quirk and injury, correct?" I go through the paperwork slowly, trying to make sure there isn't anything that could screw me over.
He gives me a squeaky kind of laugh, "Indeed! Your grandmother's Quirk seems to be very useful. A pity she died before All Might appeared, the things she could have told us..." he trailed off.
"You want me to take a look at it?" I pick up on his thoughts. I've gotten better able to read him as this meeting went on, my Quirk adapting to the very different physiology of an intelligent animal rather than an animal mutant Quirked human.
"Precisely! Quirks that can read how the body has adapted to their Quirks and trace that back to what the Quirk does are rare, even more so ones we can trust with something this sensitive. But if you were reincarnated and chose to become a Hero, it's likely that we can, especially as you already know."
As soon as he says this, I preform the most epic spit take the world has ever seen. "Wha- HOW!?" I nearly scream.
"You don't have to be that loud," he scolds as he cleans up the tea from his desk. "And in spite of, or perhaps because of, your reincarnation from a different body type, you can't hide all of your conflicting body language."
Deep breaths, calm down. In, out. In, out.
"Now, aside from the nondisclosure, is there anything you can tell me about One for All? Nothing in depth of course, it is hard to interpret body language and such through a screen."
I think over it a bit. He already knows that I know, and it's not like canon isn't already fucked. Might as well. "One for All may have already reached how much strength it can store without instantly killing someone, and had apparently started allowing access to the Quirks of the previous users.
"Various calculations estimate that it is a x50 boost to all physical stats, and to even use it at 100% means you have to be the very peak of them to begin with. Meaning someone without an enhancement Quirk would have all stats at 1500, as well as six other Quirks of various strengths. I only know two of those for sure, Float and Blackwhip, of which the second will be vastly stronger and the first might have become Flight, simply due to thematic progression.
"Also, All for One is alive. A lot weaker, and he both can't see and relies on machines to breath and survive, but still alive and able to stand up to All Might. He has his 'League of Villains' attack during the USJ field trip, and while everyone survives there is some serious damage to a couple of people."
Principal Nezu gets really serious as I finish, jumping out of his chair and showing me out of the door swiftly. A quick thank you from him, and we were all rushed out of the building.
Well. That wasn't what I expected to happen. And I'm not sure how much of what did happen is what I think happened.
I'm just... going to go read something to take my mind off of it.
XXXXX
'The doors of U.A. are just as big as I remember' I think to myself. That is, near ridiculously huge. And they feel even larger for me, since I am the size of a ten-year-old.
I walk in shortly after, and see such punctual students as Momo, whose last name I can never remember, Tokoyami, the one with the bird head, and Iida, the model student. I find my seat, and none of them question it. Mineta wasn't questioned either, and he's even shorter than me. Not until he started perving on the girls.
The class gradually filled up over the next couple of minutes, an awkward silence over everyone, until Bakugo came in without care and did exactly what you expect.
Sat with his feet on his desk like a stereotypical punk. Not that he isn't, but still.
That set off Iida, who walked over and tried to tell him off. Bakugo didn't take that well, started yelling back, and then in came Midoriya.
At this point most people were talking with the others around them, those two having broken the silence. The somewhat comical conversation between Midoriya and Iida helped with that.
And then came caterpillar man! Whose presence stopped conversation.
"It took you all seven seconds to quiet down. You're not rational enough," so he says, as he climbs out of a sleeping bag. "I'll be your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa," he finished with that glare of his.
"Now, put these on and get to training ground B," he threw a gym uniform to one of the others, though I paid more attention to him so didn't catch which.
As soon as he said something to the effect of 'you may go', my feet lit up in the blue-white glow of my Lightning Greaves, much more defined than in the exam. It took me maybe two minutes, and then I was back, in uniform. Since I don't know the way, I followed Mr. Aizawa.
He glanced over to me; arms crossed behind my back. "You're that reincarnated kid Nezu told me about, aren't you."
"Yep!" I chirp at him.
"Do you know who I am and what I'm going to say next, then?"
"Underground Hero Eraserhead, and if I had to guess, if I don't keep up, or even if I don't work harder than the others, I'll be expelled?" I ask him.
He smirks. "Something like that."
Lightbulb! "Oh, right!" I hammer my fist onto my palm, "I wanted to ask you not to go too hard on Midoriya. Not sure if you've been told already, but he's only had his Quirk active for a week. He does need to stop breaking bones, but think about that before you judge his lack of control, please?"
"No, I did not know," he scowled. Then the students walked out as one big group, and it deepened.
"It took you all ten minutes to get here. It shouldn't have taken five. A person can die from blood loss in that time."
Ah. I suppose I made his mood worse. He was not this bad in the anime, though at least what he's saying makes him sound more like a hard-ass Hero rather than a lazy, hates everyone teacher.
"Today you'll be going through those physical fitness tests from middle school," he begins as I walk over to the other students.
"The ministry of education doesn't want to admit that things have changed. It's not rational," he says, his anger fading into a dull resignation. "We need to see everything you can do. So, this time, you'll be using your Quirks."
"We get to use our Quirks?"
"Awesome!"
"This is going to be fun!"
He caught it, just like he did the first time, and glared at all of us. "'Fun' you say? Then how about this. The person who comes in last will be transferred to General Education."
"WHAT?! But that's not fair!" Someone says. I'm not sure if it's still Ochako this time.
"Tornados, fires, floods, car accidents and crazed Villain attacks. None of these are fair, and they happen every day. It will be your job as Heroes to fight this unfairness.
"Over the next three years, U.A. will do everything it can to break you down and build you into Heroes. If you can't handle it, get out. You'll need to use all of your strength to overcome it. That's 'Plus Ultra'. So bring it."
'Not exactly the same,' I think to myself as the student's cheer. 'but close, and it had the same effect.'
"If you can prove you have what it takes after that, then you MIGHT be allowed back in. But the other Gen Ed kids will have the same chance as you.
"Vampirya! You got the highest score on the entrance exam, so you go first. What did you get on the ball throw in middle school?" He tosses me a ball.
I shrug, "Every throw I remember was written off as 'Quirked' so I'm not sure."
He grunts. "Just stay in the circle. You can do whatever you want other than that."
I need something new then. Humming, I asked, "Mr. Aizawa, is there any metal in this?" A grunt and a nod, and I know exactly what I want.
[Skill Template found: Railgun(incomplete), LV 1/5;
the evolution of the Lightning Arrow technique, allowing the user to fire metal projectiles using lightning, gaining more speed the farther the lightning travels with it. Max speed: 500 m/s]
A powerful skill, even if it is only half as strong due to lacking both power and range. I just need to angle it correctly. A large mass of lightning appears in front of me, and I place the ball in before it shoots off.
A railgun is certainly stronger than a cannon, the second longest in the anime. That means this throw...
"15.61 kilometers."
...is going to be insane.
I can hear the whispering behind me, before Mr. Aizawa gets us to move onto the next test. The fifty-meter dash. Every student is paired by seat numbers, 1-2, 3-4, and so on. That means, given I've apparently replaced Kaminari, I'm paired with Kirishima.
It makes sense thematically, but not so much logically. While the full power of my Quirk is weaker at the moment, the ability to use it like I do makes it stronger in general. On the other hand, his Quirk would have been almost as effective against the robots, so he should be here instead of Mineta or something.
I won't worry about it any longer. I have tests to win.
"Good luck!" Kirishima is cheerful, even though he knows speed isn't his strong suit.
I look up at him and smile. "To you as well."
Friendly exchange completed; we both prepare ourselves. The most he can do is get in a running stance, whereas I coat my propulsive leg in lightning.
The starting bot lowers the flag, "Go!" It shouts, as we kick off.
I immediately take the lead, level 3's 150% speed increase a massive boost on my already not trivial stats, and cross the line in 2.73 seconds. Notably faster than Iida's, the next highest, 3.04 seconds.
I awkwardly pat his back as he sulks for a moment over his 5.92, a little more than three seconds slower than me.
Then there was grip strength, which didn't have partners, and I got 409. Clearing the sand box. Repeated side steps, which my Quirk didn't help as much with so I only got above average. The ball throw, that I sat out and had Izuku's thing happen.
Mr. Aizawa was a bit more impressed this time.
Iida technically beat me here, being faster than I am when he has more room to accelerate. Momo kept up with an electric scooter, and we were all still going by the time Mr. Aizawa had us stop. I then got one of the highest results in the seated toe touch, my focus on AGI meaning I can fold myself in half to get just that much more range. On the other hand, Shoji's multiple arms and Asui's long tongue are longer.
And then sit-ups, where we just kept going again.
And then it was done.
"Right. Telling you all one by one would be inefficient, so I'll just show you all at the same time," putting action to words, he clicks a button and that hologram I remember appears.
As I expected, both from comparing stats and our showings, my name is sitting at number 1, while all the others up to wherever Kaminari would have been have moved down. On the other hand, Izuku isn't at the bottom like he was, so presumably, Mr. Aizawa has some control over the rankings.
As he begins to get back into his sleeping bag, he says, "None of you are getting transferred. You all showed... adequate creativity and potential. Vampirya, you're up. After that, your syllabi are on your desks, and you can all leave."
For most of them, the relief that they would have felt was overshadowed by their confusion on why he singled me out. Except for Mineta, of course, who was at the very bottom.
"Before you ask, it's part of my Quirk that I inherited from my grandmother. I can observe biological things, especially while moving, and the longer I do so the more information I get about how they're 'built' so to speak. This includes the mutations developed in the process of adapting to any Quirk, and extrapolating from there about what the Quirk does.
"For example, Midoriya only received his Quirk a week ago, myself somewhere around a year ago, and Bakugo developed his half a year early," there. Here's hoping that this helps their relationship somewhat.
"Why were you two so late?" One of them asked. Female, somewhat high pitched. Maybe Mina or Uraraka.
Nodding, I answer, "My dad's side of the family tend to age slower due to our variation of a Longevity Quirk, so while I am physically 10-12 years old, my Quirk came in slower. As for Midoriya, his is a storage type Quirk, and considering the popularity and pattern of certain minor fractures in the bone structure, his Quirk waited before revealing itself at a level of power similar to All Might, though he hasn't had time to develop the adaptations or strength to handle that level of power."
Actually, this is near exactly what my power is telling me is the case, but with All Might watching like he is, I think things are more like canon. Both of their Quirks can be transferred, but I cannot tell just by Diagnosis that it was transferred to them.
Catching a few of their looks, I say, "Don't worry, I am under the normal non-disclosure agreements that apply to these sorts of Quirks. Now, my Quirk functions subconsciously in some ways, and so tends to treat this ability like an RPG."
I create a giant screen behind me with everyone's name, a picture, and their stats, similar to the hologram from before.
"Now, these are not linear, so a 24 is not twice as strong as a 12. Stronger, yes, but not by a factor of two. Additionally, without an enhancement Quirk of some kind, I have never seen a single person with any stat greater than 30.
"On the other hand, just like the Quirk Assessment, this is in no way a measurement of combat ability. Some applications of Quirks can multiply certain values, like my Lightning Greaves or Bakugo's explosions, and someone weaker in every stat and without an advantageous Quirk can beat someone stronger, whether through trickery or plans.
"But higher stats give you more options and do influence combat ability, so don't ignore them. And then there's Quirks that do nothing to physical stats but beat many even still, and I could go on but there are a thousand and one things that can change the results of a battle, so I'll stop there.
"A piece of advice for each of you in developing your Quirks for the future.
"Yaoyorozu, your cells have a kind of 'muscle memory' relating to things you have created time after time, which should you to make them faster.
"Todoroki, unlike the majority of thermal Quirks of either kind, you can raise or lower your own temperature and propagate that through the sides of your body, as opposed to the majority of Quirks that do it the opposite way. This has a lower initial limit, but also means you warm up or cool down faster when using your Quirk correctly.
"Bakugo, ALL of your sweat is of the same composition. The glands on your hands are simply more 'open'. Training other areas, such as your feet, will give you more options.
"Iida, there isn't much advice I can give to straight mutation Quirks other than physical training. Still, you should be able to push for a momentary boost of extreme speed, though this would likely stall your engines.
"Tokoyami, you are already doing what you can to control your Quirk, though I would suggest carrying a flashlight at all times. However, have you considered fighting WITH your shadow rather than having it go alone?
"Shoji, with dedicated training and research, you might be able to replicate parts of animals other than humans, such as seeing in infrared or ultraviolet.
"Ojiro, the same as Iida, there isn't actually anything I can say to help you. Your tail is stronger than the rest of your body, use it well, but don't allow it to become the only tool you use.
"Kirishima, when your Quirk 'breaks' it leaves behind deposits that eventually break down, making for a stronger Hardening. Breaking them manually will speed up the process.
"Ashido, the only advice I can give you is to look into the physics of hoses. Maybe try and see if you can alter the viscosity and such.
"Uraraka, look into nausea pills, pressure points to do the same, or training for the inner ear.
"Koda, you might be able to bring along specific animals as 'support gear' or otherwise team up with someone who can create or combine animals or animalistic monsters.
"Sato, try looking into how different types of sugar work with your Quirk. You might be surprised.
"Asui, look into the abilities of every frog over the world, such as camouflage. If that doesn't work, keep training with what you can do already.
"Aoyama, exercises to train your stomach will be your friend. Otherwise, train until you can overcome that drawback.
"Sero, what all kinds of tape can you produce? Also, look into things like levers, pullies, nets, and you should also be able to choke someone with your tape, but be careful about that.
"Jiro, your jacks are both input and output, and can be both at the same time. You are the amplifier. Plug one into sounds, another into speakers, and you won't have to rely on your heartbeat.
"Midoriya, remember that to use your full strength requires more than just the muscle in the arms. Twist your hips and throw your shoulders into it. Also, kicks are stronger than punches, and you don't have to go full power on every blow. If All Might did, 99% of every Villain he ever fought or more would be dead. Other than that, just give yourself time.
"Hagakure, you have a limited ability to manipulate light as it flows around you for more than just invisibility, though it will be difficult to control.
"Mineta, see if you can control the stickiness of your hairballs. Bouncing allows for trick shots, and sometimes marbles are better than glue.
"And to all of you, unless you are like All Might, skill is far more important than pure power. Sorry if this was a bit preachy, but training is more effective when you do it right, and when you do it early. Please save your questions for tomorrow, to give yourselves time to look at what I told you. Some of your classmates were taking notes, so please go to them, because I am now losing my voice."
And it certainly sounds like it, my voice going hoarse as I wind down my speech. Physically, I can keep going. Mentally, the ground is starting to look like a nice mattress, and that rock could make a good pillow.

And that's the second chapter done. That bit with Nezu took more time than the rest of the chapter, which I somehow managed to get down in about an hour and a half. Don't expect it to be like that ever, I was apparently really motivated to get this written.
And yes, he did get rather preachy towards the end. That's part of what I think happens when a normal person suddenly gets transferred to a life of little real interaction with other people and then shoved into a setting with characters they like somewhat, and have seen a hundred or more ways for them to be better.
I shouldn't be going on tangents like that anymore, don't worry. I won't guarantee it, though, I'm very bad at character interaction.
At this point, I just hope that I didn't get Aizawa too far off. The MC is different from the normal students, but he won't really get any special attention. He is under the same expectations. And yes, I know that Aizawa is a hard-ass Hero, but I hope I made it seem like he cares more about saving lives than how much things inconvenience him. That's the feeling I got in the anime, anyway.
Anyway, that's three chapters in as many days. Merry Christmas, I guess? Or whatever you celebrate, if anything, anyway.
Have a good one,
See you next time.
