Pierre looked down and smiled. "Look what I found!" He said proudly holding up a Lewis Gun. "Haiko, do you want it?" Haiko shook his head. Pierre grinned and put his rifle onto his back and picked up the Lewis Gun.
"This thing is heavy." He commented. "It's a machine gun Pierre, what did you expect?" Haiko asked sarcastically. "Well, it looked…"
"It was a rhetorical question Pierre." Haiko told Pierre who grinned sheepishly.
Katara smiled while watching their antics. The two were getting along as if they were siblings. At first they had been rather distant towards each other but after they were both assigned to protect Katara and Zuko, they began to talk. After the death of everybody else, they had to stick together. Now they acted like siblings.
Zuko had been able to stand on his own, but Katara was beginning to believe he had an infection in his gunshot wound. He still limped around and would occasionally lean on Katara but other than that he acted strong.
Pierre, after they had left the building had taken charge, saying that he knew where they were going. He said how he has looked at maps of Lyon before and as a result, led them through the streets.
Luckily for them, they had encountered no Fire Nation soldiers at all. They were most likely buying their time, hunkering down. Katara was fine with this. She had a gut feeling Aang was searching for her. He just wouldn't let her disappear and die out her in the middle of this city.
With Aang
Aang, Toph, Sokka, and Vasily picked their way through the rubble, searching for any sign of life. There was none, Katara and Zuko had disappeared.
The landscape was hellish, fire burned in buildings and twisted metal lay on the ground. Buildings stood destroyed with sometimes, only a single wall still standing. A thin layer of dust covered the ground and smoke floated above the ground.
"We should get higher up." Vasily said. "There's a group of enemies a bit further away too. I can see them." Toph suddenly cried out.
"But your blind?" Vasily asked. "She can feel vibrations and send them out so she can see really far away." Aang said. "But how?" He asked again. "I don't know the exact ways behind it. I just know she can do it and she's always right." Aang replied.
Vasily nodded and then they all ran into the closest, least destroyed building. They quickly climbed up the stairs and got up high enough to survey the area.
"Look, over there." Sokka said pointing to a little square. "It's the Fire Nation."
"Alright," Vasily replied, grabbing his rifle. Sokka grabbed his rifle as well and looked through it. He leaned it on the window and looked out. "How far away are they Sokka?"
"They seem to be about 600 meters out." Sokka said. "Aim for the guy in the back. Let's try to stop a panic." Vasily nodded and aimed. He rose the gun slightly and then took the shot. The man in the back fell.
"You killed him from all the way back here!" Toph exclaimed, amazed. Sokka aimed down his scope and stared out, surveying the encampment. The death of the soldier in the back had gone without notice.
He searched for a target and found a man directing soldiers. He took a deep breath, aimed and fired. He watched as the officer fell to the ground, creating panic. Sokka watched as another man tried to take power but Sokka shot him as well.
Vasily at the same time had also been shooting into the crowd of soldiers in the square. The soldiers were panicking and were running in different directions. Some of the firebenders were beginning to shoot flames, attempting to hide themselves. It just made it easier to pinpoint them.
The soldiers fled in fear as their comrades fell around them. Anybody who tried to take order was shot, along with any firebenders. They had no idea where they were being shot from and ran in all directions. The ones that ran in their direction were quickly shot.
"You killed them all." Aang breathed. "Sometimes it's necessary." Sokka said, lowering his sniper rifle. "I killed the ones that were the most dangerous. I achieved the results with the least amount of deaths."
"We could have just gone around them." Aang yelled. "And let them attack again, killing more people. This is war Aang. Without officers and benders, the Fire Nation is powerless. You cut off the head of the serpent."
Vasily and Toph just stood at the side awkwardly as the two argued. "I agree with Aang. It's wrong to kill people." Toph said quietly. "It's also wrong to wipe off entire cities off the map. That's what the Fire Nation did, my parents were in one of those cities. Sometimes it's necessary to kill. That's what they would most likely do to Sokka and I if we were captured. We are of no value." Vasily replied sadly.
"I can see where you're coming from. I think they would hesitate and just keep you prisoner." Toph said back. Vasily shook his head, "The Fire Nation killed millions of men, women, and children. I don't think they would hesitate to kill one man after killing so many." They both descended back into silence as Aang and Sokka continued to argue.
"Aang, you have to understand that this was the best way." Sokka told Aang. "Killing is never the best way Sokka." Aang replied. "They would kill me if they found me. I'm of no value to them. It's my mission, my job to do this."
"What mission?" Aang asked. "My mission is to knock out Fire Nation leaders. It'll help us win the war." Sokka said. "By killing them?"
"Yes," Sokka then left, followed by Vasily.
After they had left, Aang asked Toph "Why does he have to kill?" "He's doing what he thinks is right." She replied. "How do you know?"
"I can sense the person's heartbeat. Sokka truly believes what he's doing is right and just. I can see where he's coming from too." Toph said. "Where's he coming from?"
"The Fire Nation would most likely kill him if he was captured. They would probably show no mercy to the other guy, Vasily too." Toph added.
"But they didn't kill me all the times I was captured." Aang replied quickly. "Cause you're the Avatar Aang. If they capture Sokka they would just kill him because he's a non-bender. They didn't kill Sokka and Katara when you were younger because you were children and if any of you were killed, it would bring extreme guilt to the perpetrator. Now we're older and there would be less guilt in killing an older person such as Sokka." She said, seemingly lost in thought.
"I guess. The Fire Nation would never kill children. Nobody can do that." Aang said.
"They did here." She replied.
"What!?" Aang exclaimed.
"The Fire Nation leveled all the cities that they attacked to the ground. Vasily estimates that millions of people died. The cities that were destroyed were the centers of education, economy, and culture in this world. It's as if Ba Sing Se was destroyed. Just much more than one Ba Sing Se. The Fire Nation destroyed 10 Ba Sing Se's in this world."
"That's the extent of the damage here?" Aang asked. Toph nodded, "That's why everybody here hates the Fire Nation. Sokka thinks he has to help them. To help bring closure. To help kick the Fire Nation out of this world."
"But through killing?"
"That's how Sokka thinks he can get the job done." Toph said and then left the room following Vasily and Sokka leaving Aang alone.
Leningrad
"Hold the line!" Yelled a Soviet officer who was firing into the mass of Fire Nation soldiers with his pistol. The machine gun let out a roar as hundreds of bullets in bedded themselves into the Fire Nation.
Then a blast of fire destroyed the machine gun turret and the men manning it. 20 desperate Soviet soldiers tried to hold off the wave of Firebenders and non-benders. They screamed, yelled, pleaded with God, they fought courageously.
One of them ran back to the radio, "We need assistance. Leningrad is falling, I repeat Leningrad is…Oh my God!" Those were his last words as a fireball landed in the middle, killing them all.
Stalingrad
"We're losing significant land in the north Mr. Stalin." One of Stalin's aides said. "Tell the people of Leningrad taht there will be no evacuation. They defend Leningrad to the last man." Stalin said while he stared out the window. "Where are our troops?"
"They have just reentered the Soviet Union. They should reach Moscow in 4 to 5 days." The aide replied. "Tell them they have to be here in 2-3."
"Yes, Mr. Stalin." The aide said before leaving.
Stalin ran his head through his hair. It had been unexpected for the Fire Nation to invade the Soviet Union. They would have to jumpstart their economy and fast.
Stalin sat back down behind his desk and began writing orders. It was time to start the Grand Soviet Economy. Tammy factories would be made and the Soviet Union shall not fall.
Japan
A Japanese soldier ducked into the trenches as fireballs exploded around him. He was young, 14, eager to go to war and serve for glorious Japan. He was learning that it was not all what it was made out to be.
It was a mere 4 days ago when the government had found out that the Fire Nation had invaded Hokkaido. The majority of the army was in the middle of the Indian Ocean so, as a result many enlisted to defend Japan.
Every Japanese soldier would give their lives for Japan. It would be dishonorable for him to not do so. There would be no surrender after Tokyo. The Fire Nation would just burn everything to the ground. The forces defending Japan were teenagers, women, and old men with the occasional average soldier. The best of them were gone, on troop ships destined for France. It was up to them to defend their home.
He ducked again as a fireball exploded near him. He dared to peek out over the trenches and saw Fire Nation soldiers advancing on the trench.
Aiming his rifle, he fired multiple shots into the soldiers. He watched a few fall and kept firing. He ducked beneath the arrows and fireballs and continued to fire.
Give everything for the Empire he thought as he watched the Fire Nation soldiers continue to run at him.
West Germany
Fire Nation General, Ham Je, looked through his binoculars at the enemy lines. These were the Germans, some of the most brilliant people of their time. If they were so brilliant, how did he just waltz into their land?
He looked at their hastily constructed fortifications, nothing a gallant attack of Fire Nation soldiers wouldn't destroy.
"Send out orders for an attack before these non-benders can prepare." Ham Je said, still looking into his binoculars.
10 minutes later, he smiled as Fire Nation soldiers ran across the fields of this land. It would be easy pickings for the Fire Nation. The Fire Nation, after conquering this world, would rule all the worlds. This world would see the might of the Fire Nation. Only through the Fire Nation would it be united.
This attack would be a good demonstration for the new Fire Nation soldiers who had just joined up. The veterans would show them how it's done.
Ham Je watched the veteran soldiers march across the field, firing the occasional burst of fire. Then he heard these weird popping sounds and the soldiers began to fall to the ground. He watched as some attempted to flee from attacking but also fell. What was going on down there he wondered.
Ten minutes later, a scout returned. "All members of the division you sent out are dead sir."
"How?" He asked, finally putting down the binoculars. "Some sort of weapon they use. They call it a machine gun. It shoots 100 metal pieces at high speeds in a minute, they kill instantly."
Ham Je put his head into his hands. "Order for the catapults to launch a barrage of fireballs on the enemy position. Do we have any of these weapons that they call machine guns?" He asked and the scout nodded.
"Bring them to me." Ham Je told the scout. Then returned to looking into his binoculars. He watched as fireballs flew through the air and slammed into the enemy positions.
He was surprised when he heard booms from the distance and watched stick-like stuff fly through the air. He watched as they slammed into his positions, killing many. They had their own artillery too. The best thing may be to wait, the general thought.
Then the scout returned carrying a large object. "It looks harmless." The general commented. "Come, I'll show you how it works." The scout motioned for the general to follow which he did.
The scout led him to an enclosed area away from the battlefield. He took a long string of metal objects from a pouch and put them in the gun. On the other side of the area was a dummy. Then the scout pulled the trigger.
Ham Je's mouth dropped as he watched holes suddenly appear everywhere in the dummy and some in the wall behind them. "Now this is one of their stationary weapons. This is one of the weapons that everyone carries." The scout said as he walked into the enclosed area and took out another dummy.
He returned to the general and took out a long wooden object. The scout raised the weapon and fired and a hole appeared in the dummy's face. "These weapons sir, give power to the non-benders. It makes the average non-bender stronger than the average bender of any element."
Ham Je stood in thought. "We should send the tanks out." He said. "It wouldn't work sir, they have anti-tank weaponry and their own tanks that are better than ours in range. They shoot explosive shells from as far as half a mile away."
"Then bomb them with our blimps." Ham Je said. "They have their own flying machines that are much more nimble that could destroy any airship. We are hounded by them, remember." The scout replied.
Ham Je continued to think. "I order you to teach our non-benders how to use these weapons. If these weapons are as effective as they look and as you say, it would be extremely helpful to use them." Ham Je said. "Yes sir." The scout said and left.
Lyon
"Do you have any idea where you're going?" Katara asked Pierre. "Fine, I have no idea. All I've ever seen is maps." Pierre admitted. "Pierre." Haiko said dangerously.
"I thought I did."
"You just made us more lost." Zuko said.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
"Hey, wait, be quiet, I hear something ahead." They ducked down behind some rubble and watched a group of Fire Nation soldiers march past them. "Should we attack?" Zuko asked.
"No." Katara said. They watched as they continued to march down the street, and that's when an idea hit her, "What if we follow them, maybe they're heading to the main part of the city."
"It's too dangerous, we can't fight that many soldiers. There has to be 40 of them." Haiko replied. "I think we should get high up and get a birds eye view of the place."
"I agree with Katara, I think we should shadow the Fire Nation." Zuko whispered. Haiko looked at Pierre who shrugged. "Fine, we'll do that."
Then they followed, silently and quietly, like a hunter and his prey. Atop a nearby building sat Sokka, Toph, Aang, and Vasily. They too had also shadowed the Fire Nation patrol but had yet to see Katara, Zuko, Pierre, and Haiko.
"You guys can't kill them." Aang said. "If they're heading towards the main part of the city, we have to. It's necessary." Vasily said. "We'd be saving lives." Sokka added.
"There's some movement behind those rocks over there." Toph said pointing to a shaded area. Sokka moved his scope to scan the area. "It's Katara and Zuko! There's also two other people with them." Sokka said ecstatically.
"It is! Where?" Aang said, trying to pry the gun from Sokka. "Aang stop before…" Then Aang accidentally pulled the trigger and there was a loud BANG. "Oh no." Sokka said as he watched the Fire Nation soldiers look towards them.
"Aang, Toph do something!" Sokka screamed as streaks of fire passed by them. They all quickly ducked to the ground. "What do you want us to do?!" Toph yelled back. "Use your bending. They'll probably block the stairs pretty quickly." Sokka replied.
"Toph you get us down and I'll protect us and we'll go get Katara and Zuko." Aang said and Toph nodded. A large rock suddenly appeared at the side of the building, "Get on!" Toph screamed and they jumped on.
They began to fall away from the side of the building and towards the ground as Aang launched rocks and fire at the streaks of flame. "They're over there." Sokka said, pointing towards Katara.
Toph quickly got them over to behind the rubble the other four were behind. "Katara!" Sokka and Aang screamed at the same time. "Aang, Sokka, Toph!" Katara replied, hugging them and Zuko stood awkwardly to the side. "Get in here too Zuko." Aang said as Zuko rolled his eyes and joined the hug.
"Not to be a party pooper but in case you haven't realized we're surrounded." Pierre screamed. "I don't think some of us are getting out of this unscathed." Vasily added.
They could hear the fire blasts slamming against the rubble they were behind. "Oh right." Aang said sheepishly before he jumped atop the rubble and clapped his hands together. Instantly all the fire swerved in all different directions as Vasily, Haiko, and Pierre looked on in awe.
"That's the avatar?" Haiko questioned. "Yes he is." Katara replied. Toph raised another piece of the ground and screamed, "Sorry to break your bubble but we gotta get out of here!"
"Right." Everybody said and they got on the piece of rock again and flew across the ground. Fire smashed between them and arrows landed next to them. Then Fire smashed near them and broke away a piece of the rock and Pierre nearly fell if it hadn't been for Haiko.
"I got you Pierre." Haiko yelled as Pierre nearly fell to the ground. Pierre's eyes widened as he nodded to Haiko.
Then an arrow streaked by a punctured itself into Toph's calf. Toph grunted and said, "Hold on." Before they came to a stop. Toph limped off the rock and Katara quickly got to healing her.
"We got incoming attackers." Zuko said, pointing to the forty Fire Nation soldiers charging at them. "Well, glad we have this then!" Pierre said holding up the Lewis Gun which he had found.
He quickly mounted it on some rubble and Haiko got next to him on his right and Sokka and Vasily to his left. Zuko as well got into a fighting position. "On three." Sokka said, aiming his rifle. "One," they all aimed. "Two," they all put their hands on the trigger. "Three!" Sokka screamed and they all opened fire. "Ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta" came the Lewis Gun as he fired rounds into the opposing force and Aang winced.
"Quickly, fall back!" Sokka yelled and they all quickly began to fall back except Pierre. "Pierre, are you coming?" Haiko asked. "You guys go, I'll hold them off for a bit."
"Thank you Pierre." Haiko said. "It's just a thanks for saving me back there." Pierre replied and Haiko quickly fell back with them.
After they had gotten 50 yards Katara asked, "Is Pierre coming?" Haiko shook his head, "He stayed to hold them off."
Katara grit her teeth together for a second before water came flowing from behind her towards Pierre. Pierre heard the sound and looked behind him and saw water flowing towards him. "What the?" He said as the water circled around him and crashed into the remaining Fire Nation soldiers.
"Pierre, come on!" He heard in the distance and saw Katara waving at him. "Quickly he made his way back to them. "Don't do that." Katara warned and Pierre couldn't help himself but nod.
"Come on, I see the main part of the city." Aang said. Quickly they all moved to the bridge that was in front of them.
"Sir, there are people approaching." The machine gunner at the bridge told his commander.
"Are they Fire Nation?" The commander asked. "No sir," the soldier replied. "Let them through." The commander said. The Gaang along with Pierre, Haiko, and Vasily moved across the bridge and the commander walked up to them.
"Who are you?" He asked gruffly. "I'm the avatar and these are my friends." Aang replied. The commander nodded and looked at Pierre, "Why did you come back soldier?" He told Pierre harshly.
Pierre didn't know what to say and just had a wide open mouth. "Nothing?" The officer snarled. "He was protecting us!" Katara said thinking quickly. "From what? From what I've heard, you can bend. You don't need protection." The commander screamed back at her.
"This is desertion." The commander stated and Pierre's eyes widened in horror. "And the punishment for desertion is death." The commander added and took out his pistol and pointed it at Pierre's head.
"Wait!" Katara screamed. Haiko reached for his katana and Zuko lit his hand on fire. But then an arrow streaked by and hit the commander in the head, killing him instantly.
"Get down!" The machine gunner yelled and pulled the trigger. Pierre quickly rushed over the bridge over to the machine gunner and got on the ground. He raised the Lewis Gun and began firing.
"Katara, Zuko, go get Toph some medical attention. Zuko get your injury checked out. We'll stop the attack." Aang told Katara. She nodded and she and Zuko carried Toph away.
Fire streamed over their heads as Haiko, Vasily, and Sokka ran for cover. "Look out!" Vasily yelled as fire flew past them. They ducked behind the wall next to the river and Sokka let out a sigh of relief.
Haiko peeked over the wall and nearly got hit with an arrow. With widened eyes he looked at the other two. "Let's go that way!" Sokka screamed over the sound of the fray, gesturing to his right.
The other two nodded and they began to crawl behind the wall further down. After getting a far enough distance away, they jumped up from behind their cover and began to shoot.
Aang raised his fist and Earth smashed into the attacking troops, sending them flying back. Aang then raised water from the river and smashed it into the remaining troops and with a bit of air bending, the wave flowed out of sight.
Pierre let out a breath he had been holding. The machine gunner next to him glanced.
"Don't worry, I won't tell." He said. "What?" Pierre asked. "You never deserted. Just went to protect your friends." The gunner replied. "Your secret is safe with me."
"Thank you." Pierre said. The machine gunner nodded, "Good shooting out there. Where did you find the gun?"
Pierre shrugged, "Out in the rubble. Good shooting too."
"Thanks but I'm trained to do this. You, not so much. You're a rifleman who decided to use a Lewis Gun." The gunner eyed him carefully.
"How can you tell?"
"How you hold your gun is like your holding a rifle. It's simple."
"I see."
Pierre glanced back to check and see if Haiko was ok. "Go see your friends. Make sure they're ok." The gunner told him and he nodded and walked away.
Fire Nation Capital
"My king, these are the technologies this new world uses." War Minister Qin said to the Phoenix King showing him what they call rifles and machine guns.
"What can those pathetic things do. They look pathetic and weak." A general scoffed. "They look weak but they are truly strong. One of them has the power of five benders. Would you like a demonstration?" War Minister Qin asked.
"We don't need to see a demonstration to know that you…" The Fire Lord raised his hand. "Let him have a demonstration."
War Minister Qin raised his right hand and out came a straw dummy. The dummy had thick armor that to most weaponry, was impenetrable. Also in front of the dummy was a shield.
The minister then aimed the rifle and fired. There was was a loud crack and the dummy jerked backwards. The minister then gestured for the war staff to follow him.
They examined the dummy and slowly, their mouths fell open.
"It fully penetrated the armor."
"It went right through the shield."
"That's amazing!"
"They would be dead in an instant." They whispered. The Fire Lord raised his hand and they hushed.
"What I just showed you is the standard rifle that the average soldier from their world uses. It can kill from half a mile away if used correctly. All it takes is about 3 months of training. This is simply what the average soldier can do. Now we have a machine gun."
War Minister Qin heaved a large metal object onto the table which the other generals looked at with disgust. "This thing fires 100 projectiles in a minute. Watch." He said and looked at the armor-covered dummy which had been rolled out whilst he was speaking.
He aimed and pulled the trigger. The generals all covered their ears and closed their eyes. They were amazed that when they opened them, the dummy was merely a pile of metal, wood, and straw.
"What we have also done." The minister said pulling out a canvas and pointing at it. "We have reversed the other world's tech. The flying machines they used, we can use. Their ships that decimated our fleet, we can use. Their far superior tanks, we can use."
"The flying machines to start off with, named the F-02, nicknamed the Firebird. The numbers come from which prototype we used. We based it off planes we got from the nation of Japan. They are called planes by the other world. The Firebird can shoot many types of projectiles such as blasts of fire and metallic spheres. The blasts of fire can go up to 100 feet away. The metallic spheres are ultra heated by the heat of the engine and are extremely hot when fired. It melts practically anything. This is a fighter plane. It's fast and nimble."
"Next we have the FB-26, a heavy bomber as it's called. It's single use is to drop heavy bombs on the enemy and move at a much faster rate than our airships. It has 4 machine guns on it. The final plane is the FS-87 which is an air support vehicle. It drops lighter bombs onto infantry but can also fight on its own. It's slower than the fighter. This plane is based off of a plane we found in the nation of France used by the nation of Germany. That is air power."
"Next subject is anti-air power. We found that fire has a 50% chance of doing nothing to the plane and a 50% chance of it having an effect. We have come up with our own solution." Minister Qin pulled up a diagram. "The AA-352, AA stands for anti-aircraft. It shoots out large metal balls that burn through anything. The downside is that the AA has to be near a fire source."
"In terms of armor, we have installed the adjustments on the other world's tanks onto ours. Our tanks are outfitted with a 2 machine guns on the sides and a turret that can shoot explosives."
"Now finally, we have our naval changes. We have repurposed some of the ships captured in France and Japan to be used by the Fire Nation if you do allow it my lord. We can begin production on more of them with your word."
"This idea is ludicrous!" A general screamed angrily. "This is a means of leveling the playing field. The common soldier can kill a well trained bender from very far away. We must either adapt to our shortcomings and be creative or we will lose." Another general replied.
The Fire Lord once again raised his hand and they all stopped. "General Lu, you say the Northern Water Tribe has rebelled against us and has taken the garrison."
"Yes sir." A general replied.
"Train a group to put the rebellion down, War Minister Qin. Use these new weapons. Then we will go with your proposal if you are successful."
"Thank you Firelord Ozai." War Minister Qin said bowing. "Now leave."
"Yes my lord." War Minister Qin bowed once more and then left.
Behind a pillar, a servant hid, writing a message of warning.
10 days later
Zuko sat nursing his gunshot wound on his thigh. A few days ago they were able to extract the bullet from his thigh. When they asked how it happened, Zuko just said it was a stray. He left out that he was a firebender.
Now he is lying in a hospital. Toph had already been healed after the arrow had gotten pulled out with the help of Katara. It was much harder for a bullet to be pulled out. Zuko's operation required Katara and many doctors with different tools. They had put Zuko to sleep so that he wouldn't feel the pain.
Katara was still in awe of that fact. That these people know how to dull the pain that someone is feeling. She finds it marvelous.
Zuko was broken out of his thoughts by an hawk flying through the ward. People were screaming and freaking out but Zuko knew better. It was a messenger hawk.
The hawk landed right next to him. Zuko grabbed the letter and looked at it.
Dear Prince Zuko,
I hope you and the rest of your friends are doing well. Tell me, how is the other world. I hope you are succeeding in holding off the Fire Nation. We, however, have more important things to talk about. The White Lotus has helped start a rebellion against Fire Nation rule in the Northern Water Tribe with the help of Master Pakku. We have imprisoned the local garrison and the Fire Nation sees this as a declaration of war. However, we have seen no Fire Nation soldiers here as they are preoccupied in the world which you are in. My friend in the Fire Nation tells me that they plan to use new weapons on us. Weapons that they took from the other world. So I am now asking, how are the weapons of the new world. How effective are they? From what my friend says, they are extremely dangerous. That is all. Be careful Zuko in this new world. I hope to see you soon.
Your Uncle Iroh
Zuko's breath hitched. This is bad, he thought. Quickly, Zuko got up and began to walk to where he knew the others were.
"Hey, you're not supposed to leave yet!" A nurse screamed at him. Zuko ignored her and walked to where he knew the Aang would be.
Zuko walked through the destroyed streets, searching for where Appa usually is. He stopped somebody walking by and asked, "Have you seen a giant, white, bison looking thing?"
"Strangely, I actually have. There's one down the street and on the left in a square." The soldier replied. "Thanks," Zuko said and he continued on his way.
"Aang!" He called when he saw Appa. "Yeah," Aang's head popped out from behind Appa. "We have a problem."
"What sort of problem?" Sokka asked. "What's wrong Zuko?" Katara said.
"The Northern Water Tribes are rebelling against Fire Nation rule."
"That's good news!" Sokka exclaimed.
"You didn't let me finish." Zuko replied.
"The rebellion was started by the White Lotus and one of my uncles friends in the Fire Nation said that they are going to use new weapons on them. Weaponry from this world."
"How do you know?" Katara asked. "My uncle sent me a letter."
"How did your uncle know you were here?" Aang also decided to ask. "I sent him a letter before we left."
Pierre and Haiko, who had been talking to each other had slowly started to stop talking. "Hold on, did you say that the Fire Nation is adopting our weaponry!" Pierre exclaimed.
"Yes," Zuko replied. "This war is about to get much bloodier." Haiko observed. "Technically no, they don't have a doctrine. The real question is to what extent they have adopted our technology." Pierre added.
"Hold on, where's Toph?" Zuko suddenly asked. "She's around here somewhere. She'll be back soon." Katara said.
"We have to warn them!" Aang's face contorted into horror. "Those people will have no idea about any of the weapons that the Fire Nation will use. They will get slaughtered."
Katara's face also took on a look of horror. "The Fire Nation will raze the city to the ground."
Zuko however shook his head. "We have made our decision already. We're stuck here until we push the Fire Nation back to the portals. The portals are probably heavily guarded with the new weapons. Appa would be killed. The Fire Nation would show no mercy at all."
"Now excuse me, I must write something to my uncle." Zuko said before he walked away. Aang, Sokka, and Katara all looked at each other. The tides of war were changing and this war was about to get much deadlier.
