Standing and interacting with children was his job. Occasionally there would be the odd adult, but it was mostly children.

He was a robot, but he wasn't devoid of feelings. And his main feelings were curiosity and eagerness - to socialise, of course. That's what the humans did. So that's what he should do too.

Grabbing his baton, he pointed at a kid he wanted to talk to, and they conversed.

He loved talking to the kids. The kids found him exciting and amazing. And he thought of the kids in the same way.

He could see himself doing this forever.


SMRT-1 was a small purple robot character that appeared in Epcot's long gone Communicore attraction from 1982-1994. He was a demonstration for voice recognition technology and people talked to him from phones placed around him.
