That lady had no idea what she was getting into.-

Sam had come with the elders, who came to deliver the news they had found a technician to look at me, and wanted to take Emily with him, but Emily refused.

"Let's go home," He said, and took her hand. He paused, seeing Emily was standing unusually still; I imagined that before this, she was soft and carefree. Emily shook her head slowly.

"If I stay, they wouldn't dare to attack before tomorrow." Sam turned to Jacob, this fire in his eyes, as if he blamed him. What could I say? Emily's presence also kept Jacob safe. Safe from being ordered by him to stand aside or hurt me. Kept me safe from Jacob. Or safe in general. But if a fight broke out, it would be several against one, terrible odds.

"If it's not human," He warned.

"I won't let anything happen her," Emily said. Was there really a horrific possibility my baby wouldn't be humanoid? If it were, it would pass for human. I could get him past the elders and run. But if it weren't-

EJ would be human-like, wouldn't he? Why wouldn't he? My vision of him, dark haired with yellow eyes distorted into a pointy-eared, chubby gremlin. An abomination from hell. Where were vampires from anyway? Edward was so sure it was hell, but...Would our blood not be compatible and create a monster? If vampires could only be made, then it has to be human. But he drank blood-

"Why wouldn't he be human?" I asked Jacob. He came and kissed my forehead, hand on my stomach.

"Don't worry. You and EJ are going to be fine." Where did this belief of his come from? Were the words so practiced that they came easily?

"We have to prepare," Emily said. "I don't know how, or with what, but somehow."

"I know how." I said.

I told them that keeping paths to exits clear was a good idea. While they did that, I prepared a go-bag. I stuffed a few sets of clothing, put my wallet with Alice's card in, and placed my sneakers by the bed. Then I went into the kitchen, grabbed two knives. One was larger, for underneath my pillow. The other was smaller and I put that in my bag. Jacob came into the room and saw me zip it up. He looked at it, then at me.

"What else would I need?" I asked.

"A flashlight," He said. "Camping food, in case you can't get anywhere soon. Like you're preparing for a disaster," I nodded.

I went back to the kitchen to grab whatever I could. Billy and Jacob weren't campers so there wasn't much to choose from. All I needed was just enough. I fed just today, I thought. If I drink tomorrow, it might hold me for... a day. Dammit.

Then it was just a waiting game. Emily slept on the couch in the front of the house, and Jacob stood guard in the bedroom. The way the moon shone in the room, making the window pane cast shadows on the bed and walls, on his skin, made the air ominous.

"Don't you think you should sleep a little? It's not super late yet," I told him.

" I don't know when they'll come. Maybe they won't use the front door or ring the doorbell," He scoffed.

"S-sure, but..."

"You sleep. In case it's the forest floor next time,"

"I'm not sure I'll be able to." I said. Maybe I should prepare to give birth in the forest. I hopped out to grab the towel I used for my hair and forced it into my bag.

'If anything does happen, make it easy for me to find you," Jacob said.

"Maybe. I might have to bob and weave," I said, thinking of how the Cullens confused James. I might have to use the same tactic. God, that felt so long ago.

"I'll call," I told him. "I'm gonna be fine." I wanted to say 'Don't follow me'. He hadn't finished high school yet. He couldn't ruin that just to go after me. Would I be hunted? No. If I left, then I wasn't a threat to La Push anymore. Maybe they wouldn't give chase.

Hey everybody. I just got over a bad cold, or still getting over it- Anyway, I can't make this post longer for now- I wanted to give you something right away- but I hope you enjoy it and that the last week has been good for you.

A big thank you to the new follows! I really appreciate you doing that. Hopefully there's no typos, I have to get used to typing on a keyboard again as well. Smartphones really make you dependent on it's autocorrection, haha.
