Levi and his supporters retreated angrily. The rest of us were confused. Quil and Embry shifted into wolves and followed Sam and the others into the forest. Jacob stood where he was as they bounded away. He only turned away and came towards us when they were out of sight. He looked at me with his oversized eyes, seemingly embarrassed. Though what was in front of me was essentially a monster, Jacob looked like...Jacob. Cuddly. I scoff through a smirk. I stepped down the front steps and met him halfway.

Jacob, very slowly, meets the hand I outstretched. My fingers sunk into somewhat coarse hair-er, fur.

"This is what you were afraid to show me?" Jacob pressed his cheek into my hand. His expression, that I could somehow still see, brought me back to the one Edward wore when he showed me his skin in sunlight. Self-conscious, afraid. Afraid to be judged and feared. Rejected. But it's Jacob I have to depend on. Hope it was enough to protect me and EJ. Vampires were stronger, agile with their smaller shape, and could easily have the upper hand, right?

"You're huge. Your doghouse would the size of a real house," I said, and snorted at my own joke. Jacob scoffed. His breath blew my hair back.

With his eyes staring into mine, his body shivered, and he shrunk back into his human form. Naked human form.

"Jacob, what hell!" I shouted, turning away. He chuckled behind me, wearing that grin of his, I bet.

"Clothes get torn during the shift, so when I shift back..."

"You're in your birthday suit. Nice." Emily, who still stood at the top of the front steps, didn't match our energy. She's seen this before, I guess. But that wasn't it, entirely.

I'm not sure why the baby didn't appear on the ultrasound. I figured that if Edward's skin felt hard like stone and was strong enough to plow through a car door, and pull a tree out of the ground, roots and all, that maybe the amniotic sac was also as hard. Maybe.

But the deal was that if it was clear I was carrying a baby and not a monster, that I and 'it' would be allowed to live. They couldn't see it. So, they wanted to end it before a nightmare was born. Jacob and I would have to prepare for the worst.

One month later...

I was cooking when suddenly the contractions hit harder than I have ever felt them. Jacob came, shouting my name, when he heard the baking pans crash on the floor. Dinner was ruined with my waters breaking and splashing onto the food on the ground. Emily was screaming- I was screaming- and I was ushered to the bedroom.

Since the imaging, Jacob and Emily stood guard. Emily was keeping her promise in not letting anything happen me, regardless of the baby being human or not. Just until birth.

They wanted to cut it out of me-Emily wasn't allowing it- but settled with waiting for me to die naturally. They couldn't come onto Billy's property anyway. It was Jacob's territory now, and Billy wasn't going to let a pack of wolves threaten his son; Harry loaned him his hunting rifle.

Wanting to be free again, Quil left Sam's pack as well. Embry stayed behind as a sort of double agent.

Jacob lifted me onto his bed and Emily tore my pants off. There was a lot of yelling, a lot of fear.

"You have to push, Bella!" Emily urged. I really wish my mother was here. Wasn't she supposed to be? On my left, Jacob was gripping my hand, hard. But I had him, I thought. I'd be alright.

"Grr-aghh!" I screamed. It was hard. Too hard.

"I can't, I can't fucking do this!"

"Yes, you can!"

"You got this, Bells! C'mon! We've fought so hard-you've been waiting for him!" I pushed with all my might, knowing that it was time and he'd suffocate if I lagged. I had already instructed Jacob to cut him out of me himself if it came down to it.

A fearful Emily shouted she could see the head.

"One more! A hard one!" I pulled in two breaths and pushed again. Cries erupted, but not exactly the tone I was expecting.

"It's a girl!" Jacob shouted in surprise. I was grinning, but my eyes were contorted in confusion. Emily wrapped the baby up and handed her to Jacob, who very slowly brought her to me. I couldn't care about his fallen face.

"Wha..." I pulled her into my arms and stared at her beautiful face. I couldn't help but laugh. We were all waiting for a boy, but it didn't matter. She was beautiful. A little miracle, and I loved her with all of my being already. Good thing I thought of a girl name, just in case.

"Renesmee," I whispered. Her oddly attentive eyes stared up at me.

"Hi," I crooned. I rocked her a little in my arms and looked to Jacob, who was so excited for a 'he' to carry his name. Jacob was pressed against the dresser, as far away from me- Renesmee- as possible. But he was leaned forward to still be able to see as much of her as possible.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked.

"It's...it's her." Jacob then finally looked at me, but it wasn't the same. He looked at me like...he completely rejected me. Emily stared; her eyes haunted with the same emotions she felt when Sam left her niece for her.

"Remember what I said before, about Imprinting?" Jacob started. Renesmee's eyes darted from him to me, then cried in discomfort.

"What?" I asked stiffly and shifted my baby to breastfeed her, to calm her. "Jacob." I warned.

"Now I understand, why none it made sense...this pull you had, that kept me close to you even when I didn't- it was her." He fell to his knees and stared.

"Are you kidding me? Now isn't the time!"

"Now really isn't the time," Emily muttered. Another howl, louder, several more rang from the forest surrounding Billy's house.

"They're here!" Billy shouted. Jacob's eyes came back to life, and he jumped to his feet.

"Don't worry. I won't let them hurt her. Or you," He added.

Jacob jumped off the back steps, shifting in mid-air, and landed with a loud, rumbling growl. A warning. The one they came to kill was the one that gave him his purpose in life. His rezon d'etre.

If you google it, supposedly Renesmee is walking a week after birth and talking. I don't think it was formally established- if I'm wrong and you have a source, let me know- but for all intents and purposes, this Renesmee grows 3-4x as fast compared to a normal child.

I wonder if you guys can guess what happens next :) Let's play a game. In the next week, everyone makes a guess, only one, and the one who guesses right or is close, gets however much I can PM of the next installment.
