Disclaimer: JKR owns these lovely boys.
Author's Notes: I had the idea for this ages ago, and then finally decided to write it not that long ago. Also, mostly, I just like these two.
Don't forget to review! (And made up, worthless points to anyone that correctly guesses who these boys are!)
o.o.o.o
The freezing rain is sharp and biting against my upturned face, as heavy as it had been an hour ago. I'm colder than I was an hour ago. The temperature is dropping. It's silly to stay here, standing on this moor. But I'm waiting for someone.
There's a noise not far off. I ignore it; it isn't the kind of noise I'm interested in. The person I'm waiting for wouldn't make that kind of noise.
The rain turns to snow. I barely notice.
There's a 'pop' a little way away. It's followed by a mumbled expletive. A harsh voice skips a greeting to reprimand me for making myself sick, standing around in weather like this. Such the sort of thing the hypocrite would say.
I glance toward my brother. I smile, by way of explanation.
The voice softens to say I've been missed, and strong arms wrap around me like they haven't since we were younger. I sigh and return the embrace, but don't say anything.
The other man steps back to ask very quietly why we're here. It isn't really the question on his mind, but it's close enough, it'll do.
My smile disappears into the freezing night. I look away. After a silent moment, I admit it quietly.
The voice gets harsh again, as he thinks I'm joking, and tells me that it isn't funny. He almost turns away, but doesn't because we can't stare at each other with our backs turned. The wind howls around us, the only sound on the dark moor, as we stand, my brother disbelieving.
Then I smile again, and this time let it be as haunted and frightened as it wants. Finally understanding, realizing I'm not joking, my brother breaks into tears and hugs me.
I finally relax. I'm safe now, because I'm home.
