This is a two shot.
"Lord Kujou, are you sure about this?" A guard inquired towards his superior with great concern. His voice echoed the sentiments of all those that were with him at the time. Untold numbers of his fellow companions waited in silence for an answer.
But who could blame him or the other guards?
Under the eternal watch of Tenshukaku, a star fell from the skies. A streak of light flew across Inazuma for all to see. The star's light smeared itself on the celestial canvas as if an artist had a sudden impulse or anger to do so to their paintings. Nevertheless, the results were noticeable by those wide awake during the night.
On Watatsumi Island, even if it was for just a single moment, the Divine Priestess was the first to spot the descent and subsequent journey of the star from beginning to end. With her cosmic eyes, she could see through all truths - stars and gods all the same. After the star completed its journey, she quickly closed the doors to her island.
The sudden request for closure shocked the Sangonomiya Clan from top to bottom. They were currently at war with the shogunate, and they were even winning. The pale winters were greatly affecting the morale of the shogun's army greater than anticipated. The Sangonomiyas knew that the closure would cost them the war. However, when they petitioned against the closure, their Divine Priestess did not budge and ordered that Watatsumi Island be closed for seven days and seven nights.
In the records, the Divine Priestess uttered only these words to her people before dismissing their pleads.
"Seven days and seven nights."
"One day for each Archon."
"Seven nights for the Abyss."
Whatever she perceived on that day was something the divine maiden would never divulge to another. She died in meditation, leaving the world without the knowledge from beyond.
Had it been another time, the star would have been a breath-taking sight for Inazuma and its people. The country has long been captivated by the endless sea of stars.
Perhaps even longer than the times of the Archon Wars.
Yet, to the three Commissions, the star should not have fallen tonight.
"..."
"My Lord?"
"Do not make me repeat it again," the Head of the Kujou Clan responds with a solemn stance, looking at the guard and decrees, "Without Her Excellency's command, no one is allowed to enter her chambers."
"Y-yes, my lord! Forgive my imprudence," the guard straightened himself up and saluted the Tenryou Commissioner before returning to his post.
Seeing their fellow colleague's failure, the rest of the guards decided to remain silent. Although they were the Almighty Shogun's bodyguards - the Okuzumeshuu, Kujou Tengoku was closest to the heavens. The man executes the shogun's will without fail, slaughtering oni and humans alike in his stoic quest. Many even believe that Lord Kujou would be willing to attack another Archon if the Raiden Shogun demands it.
If someone of his stature was guarding the door to the peak of Tenshukaku, there was not another human that could meet the ruler of Inazuma. The guards knew this, but they still needed to inquire their superior of the shogun's situation.
A star suddenly fell on Tenshukaku's peak, and Tengoku was standing before the doors to the shogun.
The Commissioners and heirs of the other two Commissions formally requested an audience with the shogun, but Tengoku overruled all of them. As the one closest to heaven, Tengoku's stance represented the will of the shogun - none can contest against it.
Still, the officials and generals, situated in Inazuma City, worried tirelessly through the night, hoping that the star was not a bad omen against the country. They might not know what the star entailed, but they were well aware that it must have made contact with the shogun. The smoke and shattered dome of Tenshukaku were proof of the star's final fate.
What has happened to Her Excellency?!
It had been many ages since an intruder was able to enter the shogun's chamber. All previous attempts ended with the intruders' deaths.
Even so, Tengoku would not move.
His stance on the matter was steadfast and unwavering.
Unbeknownst to the citizens, Tengoku was also in the dark about the whole thing. He did not know what was happening inside the shogun's chambers nor her status. All he knew was that the shogun's decree was sent to him from the imperial palace, commanding him to not let a single soul into her chambers.
Since Kujou Tengoku was given the shogun's decree, he will execute her will to the limit. Whether they be Archons or gods, they would not be allowed a single foot into Tenshukaku while he still breathes. Unlike the majority of people in Tenshukaku, Tengoku was not worried about the safety of their shogun.
Her Excellency was the Electro Archon.
She was invincible.
Tengoku had personally witnessed the Raiden Shogun's sword arts during their war against the Dark Sea. When the shogun drew her sword, the immortals and demons drew back in fright. The creatures of the Dark Sea ran aghast. Terror was the only thing on their faces. Her sword work was nearing grand completion compared to any other.
Ever since the war, he was mesmerized by the Almighty Shogun.
For Tengoku, he was able to catch a glimpse of the eternity that their god pursued through her sword arts, causing him to wonder if their shogun would ever stop. Although he was not lucky enough to have a chance to see the shogun fight against Watatsumi Island's god, Tengoku was certain that no one in Teyvat can withstand her sword. The body of the dead god on Yashiori Island was a testament to her overwhelming divine pursuit. The man would even dare to say that the shogun's eternity could swallow Celestia itself when completed.
Yet, he was also intrigued by the current situation.
This was the first time that Tengoku was confused by the shogun's actions. The shogun's decree had always been straightforward and unyielding, but this decree was different. Rather than directly resolving the situation with a single swing, their Archon had delegated the task to him.
In order to completely immerse herself in the pursuit of eternity, the shogun has already severed her seven emotions and six desires to reach the absolute zenith of stillness. Her will alone was already capable of dominating the heavens.
So, where was this hesitation coming from?
What is going on inside?
Everyone in Tenshukaku was confused by such a question.
When Tengoku received the decree of the Electro Archon, she had already sealed her chambers in her domain. Even if someone was capable of overcoming Tengoku, her chambers would still be completely locked from the outside world. Only another Archon or their equal would be able to break her domain.
It was in this domain that Baal continued her pursuit of eternity. Her ambition grew to the point where she was allowed to ascend to Celestia and claim her position as the next Electro Archon after the former's death. The stillness of heaven and earth was all she ever wanted even before she became an Archon. The timing of her predecessor's death and her ascension was only a minor shake-up in her long years.
Given the Electro Gnosis, her control over the element became absolute. Baal had long seen the world of Teyvat during her travels, and even the seven Archons in Celestia at one point in time or another. Yet, none of them were eternal in her eyes. Celestia was not what she had envisioned nor were the promises of Celestia's all powerful gods.
Their eternity was molded on the continued existence of the world. They all lacked the ability to endure the destruction of Teyvat. The heavens were not with them but higher.
So, when she descended upon Teyvat, Baal had only a single goal in mind. Everything else comes later after her pursuit of eternity nears completion. The days of her descent were unfortunately detrimental to her goals as the mundane affairs of the world interrupted her constantly.
She was changing.
Before she was the Electro Archon, Baal was freed to pursue her eternity without interruption. Now, with the inclusion of a nation, the karma of every encounter hammers away at her eternity. No matter how small a person's karma may be, the karma accumulated by a nation over the long years cannot be taken lightly.
It was then Baal realized that she had been plotted against by those old geezers in Celestia. Her Gnosis allowed her an understanding of eternity far greater than any being in Teyvat, but it came at a price. As the supreme ruler of Inazuma, worldly affairs would often appear before her even if she did not wish for it. Unless her eternity reaches grand completion, she was powerless to stop the accumulated karma of Inazuma. It was simply too much for her to ignore.
In the end, Baal had to sever her seven emotions and six desires. The accumulation was nearly overflowing by the time she realized their scheme. Her karma with her nation must be resolved before her pursuit can continue in earnest. Her ambitions were cut short by their ploy.
The Archon realized why those old geezers wanted her to have the Gnosis. It was their plan to stop her from reaching beyond the heaven and earth of Teyvat. Having severed her emotions and desires, she needed another way towards eternity.
So, when her domain was broken through tonight, Baal assumed that Celestia was descending with those archaic gods in tow. She has long lost contact with Celestia and its deities that it would not be shocking if they came to reclaim their divine gift.
In quick succession, the shogun drew her sword and was about to use her strongest move against her enemies, even if they were her fellow Archons or teachers.
As she turned to face her opponents, all that occurred was a streak of yellow light crashing before her, nearly missing her hair. The impact completely blew away her domain and returned everything to their origins. An ocean of divine intent collapsed the universe and suppressed the elements in an instant. Baal, herself, needed to cover her eyes from the ensuing aftermath.
When she came to her senses, a boy laid before her - unconscious. The boy had hair as blonde as the sun at its highest point in a long braided ponytail. He was more golden than those that wanted to flaunt their powers in Celestia. His clothes were even more bizarre as she had never seen such designs from the seven nations.
But what caught her attention was that the boy reeked of the stars like those old geezers. The taint of the heavens filled her chamber as soon as he arrived. She lowered her sword upon the boy's neck as Baal believed this to be another scheme of theirs.
Her eyes revealed the cosmic order with the infinite galaxy swirling in between. Eras passed her and ages ran aground all around while she remained unperturbed. In this single moment, she wished to peer deeper into the unknown intruder by any means necessary.
Her sword coursed with electricity as the might of an Archon erupted to the extreme. The overwhelming amount of bale thunder incinerated the surroundings while the celestials and fiends were stopped in their tracks after they realized the follies in their curiosity. The sharpness of the shogun's sword could cut them down from where they stood if they dare to make a move.
And yet, the body of the boy remained untouched by all causality. The essence of the stars and cosmos were greater than the suppressive might of an Archon, giving the immortals and demons hope of their survival.
After multiple attempts to derive his origins, Baal eventually relents and withdraws her sword and divine aura, allowing all sentient beings to escape. She was now certain that her intruder was not involved with the old geezers in Celestia. They were more revealing in their nature and abilities compared to the unconscious person before her. He may have the scent of the heavens, but the scent was only recently made, perhaps within the last century or so.
The vast expanse and universal laws were his true anchors. Even Baal could not completely comprehend all the strands that leaked out. Heavenly auras and stellar formations that the Archon was seeing for the first time. Their constructs were not native to Teyvat.
"An outlander...a true outlander and an exception," Baal said to herself in assurance of her conclusion after failing to find his origins.
If the boy truly originated from Teyvat, as the God of Eternity, Baal should have been able to peer into the Heaven's Will to obtain an answer - regardless of it being an Archon or those old geezers.
Coming to a conclusion, Baal now has another problem...dealing with the outlander.
Whatever the case it may be, the boy fell from the skies and broke her domain. This was an affront to her divine status.
The Archon thought that perhaps she should put an end to this show with a single swing. The boy could prove difficult to deal with if awakened. With her sword still in hand, she contemplates a decision, silencing all opposition through her drawn sword. It was then that elemental fairies slowly gathered around the boy. Their bodies trembled ever so slightly in fear due to the presence of the Archon. Nevertheless, their courage was commendable, throwing all caution to the wind and taking a stance against Baal. They seemed to plead with the Archon for the boy's life, singing hymns to ease her anger.
Considering their opinions, Baal took another look at the boy with mundane eyes. The longer she stared, the more comforting she felt to their plea-
WHAT!
Her sudden realization erupted her divine aura, scattering a majority of the fairies to the wind. Her freed hand covered her aghast face. Baal felt something amidst when she approved of the boy's life - comfort.
She, the Almighty Shogun, was moved by the will of the mass. Emotions and desires of the common creatures ruptured her stillness, even if it was for just a moment.
The boy must die!
Baal knew that an anomaly had occurred, and she must rectify her mistake before they cause irreparable damage to the divine pursuit.
In an instant, purple halos appeared all around the domain, rampantly electrifying the universe with energy. Each halo contained an all-seeing eye from the eternal watch over the flow of time from one moment to another. They ensured that none can escape divine judgement.
Her sword explodes with divine intent and electro energy. A single swing was all the Electro Archon would ever need when committed.
All Baal needed to do was move...and yet she was faltering.
Her body would not complete the movement. Baal was unable to slash the boy in front of her. Whatever witchcraft the boy was extruding worked. The fairies, now back from being blown away, prostrated before the Almighty Shogun for clemency. To the fairies, they could not afford to lose their golden boy - the implication would be unamendable by any in Teyvat.
Baal's eyes narrowed with their position, wanting to erase all of them as well. But the boy was stopping her - eternity's ambition.
After many frightening moments for both the boy and the fairies, the shogun relented a second time. Her eyes dropped down, returning her divine potential and electro resonance to normal. Even her domain started to crumble as her sword finally returned to the origin with a bitter taste.
Endless afflictions and tribulations made her pursuit of eternity possible, and it was a boy that stopped her progress.
When her domain collapsed once more, she was back inside her chambers on the peak of Tenshukaku. More than half of her chambers were destroyed from the impact of the star as a massive hole illuminated the room with moonlight. If not for her domain taking the brunt of the impact, Tenshukaku would have lost several levels.
The elemental fairies, seeing that the Archon showed mercy, heaved a sigh of relief and thanked the shogun with all their hearts. They slowly but surely receded back into the elemental planes after their long presence in Teyvat, praying that the shogun would not turn back on her mercy.
Through their departure, Baal was left alone with the unconscious outlander. At this point, she was truly clueless on how to proceed from here. This lack of foresight was rare for the Archon as everything had always been resolved quickly so she could return to her meditation.
It was different this time as she had given her mercy and words, something that would shock even the Archon residing in Liyue if he ever found out the events that had transpired in her chambers.
She was not verse in mundane affairs since her subjects usually handle those matters. And she was certainly not going to ask them to take care of the boy. He has caught her attention so the Archon would not allow another to take him away until Baal can obtain her answers.
So, Baal was puzzled on what to do. Her expressionless face showed hints of wonderment. The thought of taking care of someone never crossed her mind until now. No one in the world can afford her hospitality. The shogun regretted not telling the fairies to complete the task for her before they dissipated.
…
…
…
After hours of reflection, the best Baal could come up with was moving the outlander onto her royal bed, which she rarely used due to her eternal march. She covered a blanket over the boy, seeing that she had no knowledge on whether he could feel the cold air of Inazuma's winters. The shattered dome of Tenshukaku was something that Baal would need to fix.
Baal continued to look at the boy's face when all was said and done. There was nothing else left that she could think of. Her ascension to eternity was stopped until the boy's eyes opened again.
The outlander will soon wake, and depending on his words, Baal's pursuit could either degrade or improve. The shogun was certain that the golden boy would wake in the next few days. The boy's body was a massive hole that devoured the elemental energies. He was recovering at an alarming rate if her eternal eyes were not wrong.
Heaven and earth drew back as the Electro Archon continued to watch over him. Her intrigue only strengthens with the passage of time. This was of course until she felt an unnatural presence from beyond her borders.
The moment those fel creatures stepped onto her land, Baal's eyes looked upwards as the all-seeing eye oversaw all of Inazuma. Unending cycles of life and death merged within her iris. Her braided, purple hair illuminated the universe with electro resonance. The resonance manifested the circular eternity behind her back. The electro eye hung above while the fragments of the Electro element formed the encompassing circle.
All intruders upon her eternity must perish - the boy was the first and last exception.
By the time Baal covered a blanket over the traveler, the sun was already beginning to rise. Tengoku was still guarding the shogun's chambers, denying all access to the god.
When a new day was upon Inazuma, a mighty and divine aura swept through Inazuma City, pushing all ambitions away in its flood.
The general was all too familiar with the suppression. With a glance up at the sky, the all-seeing eye of the Electro Archon could be seen by the masses. It was the symbol of the shogun's continued and omnipresent rule over the nation.
The Almighty Shogun was starting to move.
"Tengoku, receive my command," a voice echoed across the imperial palace from the shogun's chambers.
Tengoku widened his eyes before quickly bowing towards the peak of Tenshukaku and replied, "Your servant humbly accepts the decree, Your Excellency."
The guards and officials followed the Tenryou Commissioner's example as they sighed in relief of their god's voice.
Hm! Hm! Hm!
A scroll emerged out of thin air and into Tengoku's outstretched hands.
Having done the required ceremony, Tengoku immediately received the shogun's decree and read its contents.
The Abyssal Order has stepped onto the shores of Inazuma - the myriad of islands and its harbors.
Eradicate the intruders.
After reading the decree, Tengoku swiftly executed her commands. The shogun's army was called back from their war with Watatsumi Island. The three Commissions dispatched their troops, and rallied the common people into the war effort.
All across the nation, the greatest enemy to humanity washed ashore on their doorsteps. Their unending armies crossed the borders and attacked the island nation with ferocity. Abyss mages caused confusion amongst the ranks while the Huricurls swarmed entire islands in matters of hours.
Tengoku personally presided over the general situation, taking the brunt of the Abyss Order's strongest forces arriving upon Narukami Island. He had never seen such aggression from the Abyss Order. Fighting the Dark Sea was not as brutal as this campaign by the order.
...
...
...
By the seventh day of the invasion, Inazuma was facing an incredible crisis like none other. The officials from all sectors of the government ran wild. Documents flooded the government offices without end. The public were in a frenzy as the armies of Inazuma were desperate to hold the lines.
Thump!
Thump!
THUMP!
Tengoku walked up the stairs to the peak of Tenshukaku with downcasted eyes. His armor, punctured with numerous holes, drenched the imperial palace with blood as he ascended. And at the summit of Inazuma, with a nearly broken sword in hand, he knelt in front of the shogun's chambers.
"Your Excellency, the Abyss Order has sent the Tyrant Dragon and seven heralds…" the general said with great pain. His arms, during his beseeching, were as heavy as the mountains created by the Geo Archon. Tengoku had done all he could in order to end the war. He has slain over a thousand abyssal creatures in battle and held back the majority of invaders for seven days.
But it was not enough.
The order has committed more forces than anyone could have ever anticipated. Sending their heralds was one thing, but the Tyrant Dragon was the unexpected factor. Tengoku was sure that even Abyss Lectors may have already joined the war. It was clear to him that they intent on overrunning Inazuma if nothing was to be done
So, Tengoku had no choice. He was asking for the shogun's assistance. He was incapable of executing this decree, a shame that he could never wash away.
Tengoku knew that as long as their Almighty Shogun takes action, the tides could be overturned. Her sword work was unstoppable in all realms - He was certain of it.
Before the throne of Inazuma, the great general waited for their shogun's command. At this moment, the life and death of the nation was before them.
"I will strike a single time. Do not disappoint me."
Slam! Crack!
Tengoku slammed his head against the concrete, creating cracks tainted with blood.
He could not fail his Archon a second time.
On the seventh night, the Electro Archon was preparing to unleash her strike. Her single swing would be the divine judgment against all her enemies.
They will not survive the attack.
Crackle! Crackle! Crackle! Crackle!
Her stance was ready.
Her eyes focused on the entirety of Inazuma.
And yet, before she could deliver the divine blow, the universe awakens. The chains of destiny and fate clamors on Baal to stop. She turned her head to the outlander...he was awake.
His body was in a sitting position upon her bed. The blanket had long been casted aside. The golden boy sat with a monotonous expression. The swirl of the stars and galaxies plastered itself on his eyes.
"Which part of Teyvat is this?"
Thank you for reading!
The second one comes out in the next eternity (lol). It would probably be focused on Baal wanting Aether's babies...nah, JK.
A person can dream, right?
