Hello ladies and germs! We have arrived at the second to last story before our finale! Sky in Skylanders. Now, you have all been asking me which version of the series I will be focusing on-the games or the cartoon? I will be mainly using the game's story, but I will pull in elements from the cartoons that I enjoyed or felt improved the story. But you'll see what I mean when we get there. But for now, let's begin!
Eon couldn't remember the last time his heart was beating this fast.
Alright, that was something of a lie. There were plenty of times he could recall his heart moving at a pace well beyond that of a normal being (not that he was completely normal himself). When he first discovered how dangerous Skylands truly could be, his first battle with a corrupt being, his first time leading the Skylanders into battle.
So maybe the better statement was he couldn't remember the last time his heart was beating this fast about seeing a new arrival at Skylanders Academy.
In truth, the school had a student from just about every walk of life. It didn't matter who you were or what you could do, if you had a strong drive for justice and to protect the weak (or some other reason that would make you a good Skylander, but have a strong drive for the two above traits the best thing), then you could study to become a Skylander. But most newcomers arrived via ship or flying in.
Most didn't arrive by literally falling out of the sky!
But somehow, that didn't end up being the most surprising thing about this newcomer.
First off, she was young. Maybe around five if Eon had to guess. Second, she had fallen out of what looked like from a crack in the sky (granted, that made him worried for other reasons but that was besides that point), and third-
She had the power to be a Portal Master.
This somehow worried Eon the most. Not even Aurora, his own flesh and blood, had the potential to be a Portal Master, yet this newcomer had those powers? In truth, he was just happy he found her and not one of the dark forces.
They did not need another Kaos, now and forever!
But now, the girl was resting in the medical unit. She had woken up for a short period of time, enough for Eon to get a bit of information out of her, such as her name, but sleep quickly took her back.
"Uncle Eon?" Eon turned. Aurora was standing behind him, looking both tired and nervous.
"Aurora, you should be sleeping," Eon said calmly.
"But some of the adults said that I had a new sister and I wanted to meet her and-" Aurora began to ramble, but was cut off with a yawn. Eon, for his part, was stunned. How did the others already learn about his plans to take the child in? Although, he guessed it was obvious. A mysterious girl falls out of the sky, has the powers of a potential Portal Master and remembers almost nothing?
There was practically a sign on her that read "adopt me please!"
In truth, he was planning to let Aurora meet her. After he defeated her father/his brother, Strykore, he had taken the girl in to keep her safe. This, in turn, led to him overprotecting her quite a bit. She didn't really have many friends her own age so maybe having Sky around would give her someone to at least play with.
"She's sleeping right now, but I suppose you can go see her," Eon consented. Taking his niece by the hand, he led her over to Sky's bedside. Aurora had to stand on her toes in order to see her.
"She's so small…" Aurora said in awe. She slowly began to run her hands through the girl's hair. "What's her name?"
"Sky," Eon revealed as he moved his hand to Aurora's shoulder.
"Was she named after the Skylands?" Aurora asked.
"It's possible," Eon admitted. Sky was a decently popular name, especially in some of the lower regions of the Skylands.
"She's cute," Aurora noted as she turned back to the younger girl. "Hey, Sky. I know you probably can't hear me but my name is Aurora. I'm gonna be your big sister. Sort of. You're going to be Eon's daughter and I'm just his niece. You and me? We're gonna be the bestest heroes Skylands has ever seen." Behind her, Eon smiled. He had a feeling that they would.
And with that, we begin another story. So, why Sky in Skylanders. Well, Skylanders is one of my favorite game series, in spite of how controversial it is. Also, in spite of what Sky does in canon, she was shown to be a pretty good leader. Although I guess you kind of have to be when you are on the same team as Beardo, Leonard, Ella, Shawn, Sugar and Dave. Also, I wanted to try writing her in an environment where there is no Dave to ruin her character. Can you tell who I blame for that scenario? So, I wanted to have her lead some quirky people but not all be insane or annoying. So, yeah.
