Glad you guys enjoyed the last chapter, this chapter will be Ash training, and battling. Btw I will not make trade evolutions a thing in the story. With the exception of Shelmet and Karrablast, as we seen it on screen.
SkylerHollow: I'm glad you're enjoying the story. And I'll do the double check.
Irbrenneke: I already made a list of what Pokémon Ash will get, but I can give him one before going to the Orange Island, and one after returning from them.
Luckenhaft: You bring up lots of good points on Haunter, but I'd use one or the other. Still it's something to think about. But the main reason I want to use Pokémon Journey's Gengar is to redeem it, since Journeys hasn't given it a victory since its first battle with Ash. Not counting Team Rocket battle. I know it's getting Gigantamax, but still when Sirfetch'd evolved we thought it was going to get pushed, only to job its next battle. Glad you like bringing in Dragonite earlier, after all its Ash's best dragon type to date. Not surprising considering it knows Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw, Hyper Beam, Hurricane, and now Draco Meteor. Also I like your idea with Primeape, I think I can make it work. Now Ash will not be evolving Eevee into Flareon, but rather a Pokémon he'll be catch soon. Also no Jolteon either because Jolteon basically fills in the role either Pikachu or Zeraora plays. As for what Eevee will evolve into, well you'll have to wait and see.
HangCliff: Sadly, none of the Pokémon will be Chimchar, Riolu or Froakie, but I can move up the timeline when Ash gets them.
Reader: Considering Ash will have 12 new Pokémon, but only 6 will be used in the league. The rest will get focus during the Orange Island. Also good idea for Ash to train at both Brock's and Misty's gyms.
It was the day after the incident and Ash was currently training his team. Yesterday during dinner, Ash recall the day's crazy set of events. Both Brock and Misty were both shocked and proud Ash had managed to take a dangerous poacher by himself. Brock especially was proud he Ash talked how he remember some of the things he taught him. Delia was horrified when he talked about Team Rocket almost managing to steal his Pokémon, but was relieved when he mentions new Eevee managed to save them. Still despite the incident they were glad it didn't ruin his spirit, instead it seems turn his fiery spirit into a raging inferno. They were shocked when he mentioned his plans for his Pokémon.
"So what moves where you planning on teaching were Pokémon?" Brock asked.
Ash quickly went over planned moves for his for his Pokémon, and Brock nodded good selection.
"Oh Professor, did you find anything about Zeraora?" Ash asked.
Nodding, the Professor had a massive smile on his face as he explained, "Yes, and I must say how extremely lucky you are Ash. It turns out Zeraora is actually a Mythical Pokémon."
This cause everyone to drop the utensils, Mythical Pokémon were the rarest of Legendary Pokémon. Most legendries had sightings or areas where they can be spotted at from time to time. Other had some information gathered by people from ancient times who encountered these Pokémon, and written books about them, or had statues built. Mythical had such little info on them barely anything was known about them. Now Ash had one on his team.
Once everyone got over the shock from that bit of info, Oak continued. "Yes, now according information, Zeraora is known as the Thunderclap Pokémon, and it is a pure electric type. The only sighting of a Zeraora is from Fula City, and area in the Johto Region." Everyone was intrigued, an electric and fighting type was an interesting combination. So far Ash's only electric type was Pikachu. And since he left his Primeape training his team had lacking a fighting type.
"But that's not the only fascinating thing." Prof. Oak stated holding up a picture. "This the only photo of a Zeraora."
As everyone looked at the photo, the notice it looked different from Ash's Zeraora. The Zeraora in the photo had yellow fur in place of white, blue where the yellow marks should be, blue eyes instead of yellow, and grey fur instead of the bluish-grey.
"Accord from other sighting this is what most Zeraora look like, meaning your Zeraora is actually a shiny." Prof. Oak stated with excitement.
Everyone was blown away, shiny Pokémon were another rarity, it was believing 1 in 8000 Pokémon of a shiny species had the chances of being. Studies were still being test on shinnies, in order to see what caused Pokémon to become shiny. After this everyone went back to finishing dinner. With dinner done Brock decided it would be a good idea to watch old footage of the previous leagues. As everyone watch, Brock explained to Ash, the first battles for trainers entering the Pokémon League would be battle on 4 fields before battling in the Indigo Stadium. The fields were ice, water, grass and rock field. He then suggested that the they should take the opportunity to train at the Pewter and Cerulean gyms, to which Ash agreed. As they watch the matches Ash noticed how some of the trainers used the field to their advantage. He currently they were watching a battle between a trainer with a Seaking and another trainer with an Electabuzz. However, as the battle went on Ash noticed Seaking was taking any damage from the electric attacks.
"How Seaking isn't taking damaged for the electric attacks?" He asked out loud.
"That's because of Seaking's ability Lightning Rod." Prof. Oak answered.
"Lightning Rod?" Ash asked again, he remembered that poacher's Marowak had that ability.
"Lightning Rod, has the user absorb all electric attacks and increased their special attack." Oak further explained.
Ash then released that's why Pikachu electric attack kept hitting Marowak. As the battle continued it looked like the Seaking was going to win, but despite being unable to use its electric attacks, Electabuzz still won thanks to making many different types of moves. Abilities were something Ash wanted to check out.
(The Next Day)
After a goodnight sleep, and breakfast Ash immediately went Prof. Oak ranch to continue his training. Misty and Brock tagged along to help. Once there the first thing did was scan every one of his Pokémon.
"What are doing Ash?" Misty asked.
"I'm checking what abilities my Pokémon have." He answered.
"Why is that Ash?" Brock asked.
"Well I noticed some trainers used Pokémon's abilities to their advantaged so I would best for me to know my Pokémon's abilities as well.
Both Misty and Brock nodded, seeing it was a good idea.
According to the dex, Charizard, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle's abilities are Blaze, Overgrow, and Torrent, which is the standard ability for them. Apparently when the Pokémon are low on energy, apparently these abilities increase the power of their fire, grass and water moves.
Pikachu had the ability static which has a chance to paralyze the opponent when hit with a move that makes contact. Pidgeotto had the ability Keen Eye, this prevented its accuracy on its moves from being lowered. Both Krabby and Tauros had the ability Sheer Force. Apparently this agility increased the power of moves that had a 2nd effect, like burning, or paralyzes. However, the cost was the cost was 2nd effect would be negated. Muk had a rare ability known as Poison Touch, which had a chance to poison the opponent with Muk makes contact. Eevee had another rare ability, known as Adaptability which increase increases the power of the moves which had the same type as Eevee.
Finally, Zeraora had an ability Volt Absorb, which heal Zeraora every time he was hit with another electric attacks. Taking look Zeraora's current moves he knew Plasma Fist, Blaze Kick, Drain Punch, Agility, Hone Claws, Discharge, Thunder Punch, Charge, Volt Switch, Slash, Quick Charge, Power-Up Punch, Fake Out, Fire Punch, and Brick Break.
Looking what moves Zeraora could learn, Ash decided to have Zeraora work on Iron Tail with his other Pokémon. Since Pikachu, Eevee and Pidgeotto had gotten a hang on Double Team Ash decided to have them start working with Iron Tail, and Steel Wing. Once again the Ash Pikachu and Eevee team up, only this thing they had Zeraora joining them. Ash then tied rocks on their tails in order to have them work on increasing their strength. Then he tied rocks to Charizard and Pidgeotto's wings in order to help them learn Steel Wing. With those going two going off to strengthen their wings, Ash had his Tauros herd finish working on their Iron Head. Now that Squirtle and Krabby had finished learning Protect, Ash decided to have Squirtle work on Ice Beam, while. This would be difficult for him, but Ash was confident in Squirtle. Krabby would now be working on Bubble Beam. Thanks to Muk Bulbasaur managed to master Sludge Bomb, now they would be working on Synthesis which would be good recover for Bulbasaur. After Muk had help Bulbasaur with Sludge Bomb, Ash had Muk work on Shadow Ball. While Muk struggle at first, he was now starting to get the hang of it. So today he would continue to work were he left off. As his Pokémon went off to start practicing, Ash began looking through his Pokédex.
"What are you looking at now Ash?" Misty asked.
"Professor Oak suggested to catch a few more Pokémon, to make sure I have a good diversity. So I was think of catching a Rhyhorn or Rhydon." Ash informed showing the Pokémon on his Pokédex.
"Since I don't have a rock or ground type, I figure this would be my best option. Rhyhorn and Rhydon are known for learning and lot of powerful moves, and can take a lot of hits. And as make as I hate to admit it…." Ash began before looking at his team, as did Brock and Misty.
"I don't think other that Muk, Charizard, and maybe Tauros my team can take to many big hits."
Both Brock and Misty nodded after, they both noticed Ash prefer faster frailer Pokémon. While Charizard and Tauros might be able to take several hits, their species were still better known for being fast hard hitting Pokémon. Muk definitely look like it could take several hits, and it would have to consider how the slow they were. So considering the option Ash could have made Rhyhorn might be the best call.
"That sounds like a good idea. Any other Pokémon your thinking about?" Brock asked.
"Well I heard Scyther or Pinsir can be found in the forest around here, either one would be good for fighting on the grass field." Ash replied, and noticed Misty frozen, and the thought of a Scyther.
Brock however nodded, since Ash didn't have didn't bug type anymore.
"And I got a fire stone now so if Eevee doesn't want evolve into Flareon or evolve all, I could catch a Growlithe or a Vulpix. Having another fire type can be helpful, also I could catch a Ghost Pokémon." Ash continued.
Brock nodded, solid plan so far, "You could visit Sabrina to see if you could get Haunter back." All thought the thought of seeing Sabrina again sent a shiver how Brock's spine.
"Maybe, but I never officially caught Haunter, so would it be right to ask for him back?" Ash asked.
"I don't know, but we don't know if Sabrina caught it either, if she did maybe you two can make a trade." Misty suggested.
"Maybe." Ash replied.
The trio continue to chat about Ash's training schedule, they planned out the day they would train and the Pewter, and Cerulean Gyms. Also the looked up where he his suggested Pokémon. Once their plan was made, the trio went to watch the Pokémon current progress. So far Pikachu, Eevee, and Zeraora were doing well, the continued to lift the heavy rocks with their tails. According to Brock it wouldn't be to long until they can untie the rocks, and work on focusing the power into the tail. Zeraora took to the training the easiest. As a mythical it had a lot of power, and potential. Still as Zeraora continued to lift up the large rocks, Pikachu and Eevee continued to push themselves. Ash smiled, he never done something like this. Teaching his Pokémon new moves, and slowing build up their strength. He was busy trying to catch new Pokémon, or making his way to the next gym. It also didn't help that Team Rocket would show their annoying faces every now and then.
Still going forward after the league, he'll make sure to do this every now and them. With his first group check on, he made his way over to Charizard and Pidgeotto. Charizard was naturally have an easier processing greater strength than Pidgeotto. Pidgeotto was struggling stay up, Ash then asked if she you like him to lower the weight, but Pidgeotto was determine to keep up. Ash just smiled happy to see the determination on Pidgeotto's face. His Pokémon didn't want to give up, and were determined to see it through. Making his way over to Tauros, he watched the herd charging back and forth. He notices a metallic shine on their heads forming, and every now and then a trail of light would follow them. Smiling Ash promised himself once he starts traveling again, he would make sure to rotate his team.
Once he was done checking in on his Tauros, he made his way over to Squirtle. Looking at Squirtle he was beginning to form a white light, that would disappear quickly. Good Squirtle was starting to build the necessary power, hopefully by end of the Squirtle can finish building but the necessary power needed, and tomorrow they can work on firing it. Moving over Krabby, Ash laughed a bit all bubbles come from Krabby's mouth. It would still take a while before the bubble would form the attack. With Bulbasaur, the bulb on its back was glowing, which was a good sign. Hopefully it's would take much longer for Bulbasaur to absorb the sun's rays more quickly. Checking on Muk he was having the same issue as Squirtle, before able to form the attack, just not able to fire it yet. After a few more hours of training, everyone took a break from training. After getting the Pokémon fed, he let them relax again before getting back to work. Ash as was finishing his own food, he heard Brock calling him over.
"What's up Brock." Ash said.
"Hey Ash take a look at this." Brock replied, show Ash something on the computer he was on. Look at it, it was an ad for a tournament taking place three weeks from today.
"An tournament?" Ash replied.
"Yah, this would be a great test before the Indigo League." Brock stated.
"Hey great idea." Ash agreed.
Looking at the information it would take place in Viridian City, and only trainers with eight badges can enter. Also the winner would receive an egg. Well that settled it he was going to enter and he was going to win.
With extra motivation Ash got ready to continue training his Pokémon. Today they would finish working on their moves, and tomorrow some battle training, and maybe he'll look in the forest for a new bug type.
Alright, I hope you enjoyed this new chapter. And thank you all for your suggestions.
