Alright, I got a question to ask. Do you want Pikachu, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle to evolve? Personally, I like doing story with where they evolve, but note for Pikachu he won't be evolving any time soon. The I like the idea of Pikachu evolving is it represents Ash and Pikachu fully maturing. Another reason is Raichu is one of my favorite electric type. But still I'm fine if you guys want them to stay pre-evolved.

"Pidgeooo!" Pidgeotto cawed.
"Did you find one?" Ash asked.
Nodding the bird flew off with Ash following behind. Currently Ash was looking for a new Bug Pokémon, once the sun rose he took off. He asked Brock and Misty to stay behind and watch over his Pokémon's training. This included Pikachu who was putting his finishing touches on Iron Tail. Since he was going after bug hunting, he brought Pidgeotto. He thought about bring Charizard but he didn't want to risk setting the forest on fire. But just in case he also brought his main Tauros, and Muk. Speaking of which, the Prof. Oak suggested to trade some of his Tauros since he had so many of them. However, Ash was weary but of how he regretted trading his Butterfree back on the Santa Anne. He decided to think it over, but for now he had other things to focus on.
He noticed Pidgeotto perched on a tree, good that meant the Pokémon was close. Using its wing Pidgeotto pointed toward the Pokémon it spotted. Looking in the direction, Ash grinned it was a Scyther a rare find. He heard they were sometimes spotted around the forest near his home. The Scyther noticed their presence and took its battle stance, with its two scythes pointing towards them.
"Looks like it's ready to battle, ready Pidgeotto?" Ash asked the bird.
Nodding, Pidgeotto cawed and flapped its wings prepared to fight.
"Alright start with Quick Attack." Ash began.
Pidgeotto flew forward with a trail of light behind it. Seeing the opponent Scyther copied and flew towards Pidgeotto with its own Quick Attack. As the two got closer to each other, Ash told Pidgeotto to swerve. Moving out of the way, Scyther flew past Pidgeotto then by the time it turned around, Pidgeotto was a few feet away from it.
"Now Gust!" Ash called out.
Flapping her wings, Pidgeotto created a powerful current of gust. Scyther stood its ground as it fought against the wind. Eventually Scyther managed fight against the wind as it swiped at Pidgeotto with a Slash attack.
"Pidgeotto use Double Team." Ash countered.
Creating several copied of itself Pidgeotto avoided the slash and then surrounded Scyther. Seeing these Scyther also created several copies, then their wings glowed as they shot forwards and one of them slammed into Pidgeotto with a Wing Attack.
"Pidgooo!" Pidgeotto cried out in pain.
"Pidgeotto!" Ash cried out in concern.
Straighten itself, Pidgeotto cawed as it shook off the pain.
"Use Sand Attack!" Ash said, wanting to change his strategy.
Nodding, Pidgeotto flapped her wings again, kick sand creating a dust cloud. Scyther looked around trying to find Pidgeotto, only to be struck, as Pidgeotto rammed into it stomach. Scyther crashed into the ground, and it tried to get back up, Pidgeotto created another Gust keeping it down longer.
Growling Scyther slash the air, as it sent a crescent shape of energy towards Pidgeotto.
"Pidgeotto avoid it with another Double Team, then another Gust." Ash countered.
Making more duplicates Pidgeotto avoided the attack, as Scyther used the opportunity to get back up. But before it could counter, it was surrounded again as Pidgeotto and its clones sent more currents of wind slamming Scyther into a tree. Smirking Ash knew it was time to finish this.
"Alright use Quick Attack, and combine it with Steel Wing." Ash called out.
"Pidgeooo!" Pidgeotto cawed out. As its wing glowed with a metallic tint, Pidgeotto flew forward with incredible speed and it slammed into Scyther.
Scyther flew back and slammed into the tree and grunted as it fell down. Turning his cap around Ash tossed a Pokéball. The Pokéball bounced off of Scyther and it opened sucking in Scyther. The ball rocked back and forth several times before it stopped and let out a ping sound, confirming capture.
"Alright we caught it, great job Pidgeotto." Ash cheered picking up its Pokéball.
"Pidgeoo!" Pidgeotto cawed out happily.
"Alright, shall let get to the others." Ash said, but before he could return Pidgeotto, they heard a voice.
"My that was impressive, you've improve greatly since our last encounter."
Turning to look, Ash looked at the person before exclaiming, "Samurai."
Nodding Samurai, took out a Pokéball, "Perhaps you would be interest in a rematch."
Nodding the Samurai, released his Pinsir before announcing it would be a three on three battle. Pinsir was a large bipedal insect, with brown body, and two large, grey pincers on the top of its head.
"Pidgeoooo!" Pidgeotto cawed out angrily, apparently it recognized the same Pinsir that defeated it at the start of Ash's journey.
"So you want to get your revenge huh Pidgeotto?" Ash asked receiving a nod. "Okay then Pidgeotto I choose you."
"I'll start, Pinsir use Vice Grip." Samurai announced.
Pinsir ran forwards with its pincers snipping. As Pinsir got closer, Ash told Pidgeotto to dodge then to counter with Gust. Pidgeotto once again swerved the way, like it did with Pinsir. Unleashing a strong blast of wing, Pinsir was pushed back several feet. Samurai told Pinsir told Harden, as its exoskeleton glowed as its defenses raised.
"Storm Throw!" Samurai ordered. Once again Pinsir charged forward this time, able to fight against the wind.
"Pidgeotto counter Double Team then Steel Wing." Ash countered. Creating several copies again, Pinsir flew through one of them, Pidgeotto took the opportunity to charge slammed into Pinsir.
"Pinsir, quick grab it with Slam!" Samurai called out.
Before Pidgeotto could fly out of range, Pinsir two pincers wrap around it. Tossing Pidgeotto to the ground, it landed with a thud.
"Pinsir finish it with Hyper Beam!" Samurai ordered.
Pinsir began charging a beam of pure energy, but before it could fire, Ash told Pidgeotto to dodge with Double Team. Find itself surrounded again, Pinsir fire the Hyper Beam at every one. All of the Pidgeotto's disappeared, and before Samurai could question what happen, Pidgeotto slammed into Pinsir with a Steel Wing. Pinsir grunted as it slid back, since it used Hyper Beam, it would take a while before it could move again. Taking his opportunity, Ash told Pidgeotto to hit Pinsir with a barrage of Steel Wing. Pinsir grunted as he took hit and hit, and then after on last hit, he collapsed unable to continue.
"Alright good job Pidgeotto." Ash cheered.
"Pidgeoooo!" Pidgeotto cawed happily.
Meanwhile Samurai returned Pinsir thanking it for a hard fought battle. Grabbing his next he released a yellow, and black striped, wasp-like Pokémon.
"You may have defeated Pinsir, but let's see you take on Beedrill." Samurai stated.
"Pidgeotto due you want a break?" Ash asked the bird.
Shaking its head, Pidgeotto ready itself for the next match.
"Pinsir use Fury Attack." Samurai began the 2nd round.
"Pidgeotto keep away with Gust." Ash counter.
Beedrill began jabbing at Pidgeotto with its front stingers, however Pidgeotto flew away before unleashing a powerful Gust attack. Beedrill was force to stop as it fought against the wind. Once Pidgeotto stop, it charged forward with Quick Attack. Pidgeotto smashed into Beedrill midsection. Using another Quick Attack to move away. Ash then told Pidgeotto to use Roost. Once it landed on the ground, Pidgeotto raised its wings and a white aura appeared around it. She felt her body began to recover and her energy replenished. Beedrill shook off the pain, as it made a hissing sound. Then Beedrill fired out a series of Poison Sting. Ash told Pidgeotto to repel them with another Gust. The Poison Sting was misdirected thanks to the strong breeze.
"Now Pidgeotto use Double Team." Ash continued.
Seeing his Beedrill surround, he calls for a Pin Missile. Beedrill's stingers all glowed bright energy, as they fired energy beams towards the copies. Once all of them disappeared, Beedrill create a Protect. The green sphere surround and Pidgeotto crash into it, stunning itself.
"I'm not going to keep falling for that." Samurai stated.
Ash couldn't help but smirk, he had already fell for it enough times. Still the was something else he could do. Beedrill then charge towards Pidgeotto with a Poison Jab. However, Pidgeotto then began kicking up sand for another Sand Attack. When a dust cloud surround the field Beedrill stop and looked around for any Pidgeotto. Feeling Pidgeotto was preparing another Double Team and Quick Attack combination. Beedrill was preparing to use another Protect.
"Beedrill behind you!" Samurai warned.
Before Beedrill could get the Protect up, Pidgeotto dealt and powerful blow it another Steel Wing and Quick Attack combination. The was the final blow for Beedrill as it fell to the ground unable to battle. Samurai returned his Beedrill with a sigh, while Ash cheer Pidgeotto for her victory. Pidgeotto chirp in happiness, and then was envelope in a bright light. Protect Ash and Samurai's eyes widen. Pidgeotto grew larger and center red feathers on its crest turned golden.
"Wow, you evolved into a Pidgeot." Ash cheered.
Pidgeot, the Bird Pokémon. It flies at Mach 2 speed, seeking prey. Its large talons are feared as wicked weapons. Upon evolution Pidgeot has learn the move Agility, Wing Attack, and has unlocked its egg moves Brave Bird, Air Cutter and Air Slash.
"Awesome Pidgeot, alright let's finish then battle." Ash cheered.
"Pidgeot." Pidgeot agreed.
"Very, well it's all up to you Butterfree." Samurai called out his final choice.
"Free." The purple butterfly chirped.
"Butterfree use Confusion." Samurai began, not waiting Pidgeot to move around.
"Pidgeot use your Agility, and make sure Butterfree can't keep up with you." Ash countered.
Butterfree's eyes glowed blue as it tried to get a hold of Pidgeot. Unfortunately, Pidgeot glowed a pink energy, as its speed increased. Knowing Butterfree was going to get confused it's when trying catch Pidgeot, Samurai quickly changed tactics.
"Stun Spore across the field."
"Free." Butterfree chirped as it unleashed an orange powder.
"Blow it back with Gust." Ash countered.
"Geot!" Chirping back, Pidgeot unleashes a great blast of wind, then it could as a Pidgeotto.
Both Ash and Samurai had cover their faces from the fierce wind they faced, well the Stun Spore was blown away. The greater force of wind knocks Butterfree back as it tried to stabilize itself.
"Now Air Cutter." Ash called.
Pidgeot brought its wings into a formation as it slashes the air, sending the attack at Butterfree. Samurai counter by having Butterfree use Psybeam to defend itself. Butterfree's eyes glowed, as a multicolored beam shot out and collided with the Air Cutter.
Seeing Pidgeot new power, and one of her new move was incredible. Especially since two of them gave Pidgeot long range options. Gust helped but she was going to need something stronger. Now with Air Cutter, and Air Slash they can keep the distance.
"Switch over the Air Slash." Ash called out.
Switching to another to another new attack, Pidgeot slash the air several times sending several crescent blades towards Butterfree. Butterfree did its best to avoid each attack, narrowly avoiding several blades. Using the opportunity, Pidgeot Slammed in Butterfree with a Wing Attack. Butterfree cried out in pain, as it flew back not before firing another Psybeam. The attack caught Pidgeot off guard, as it struck her chest. Taking a chance Samurai called for another Confusion. This time Butterfree managed to get a hold of Pidgeot, and unleashing several Psybeam that each connected with Pidgeot. Finally, Butterfree threw Pidgeot to the ground, breaking out of its confusion. Samurai told Butterfree to finish it with one more Psybeam.
"Sand Attack!" Ash shouted.
Kicking up dust, Pidgeot managed to avoid the Psybeam. Samurai told Butterfree to use Gust to blow away the dust. When the field clear Pidgeot was reviled and was using Roost.
"Confusion/Agility!" The trainers shouted.
Pidgeot was too fast for Butterfree and moved out of the wave. Ash then told Pidgeot to use Double Team. With Butterfree surrounded Samurai defended by having Butterfree use Psybeam. As Butterfree shot each of the clones, it got closer and closer to the real one.
"Brave Bird!" Ash shouted.
Pidgeot then shot forwards cloaked in blue flames, and it slammed into Butterfree. Butterfree slammed into the ground, and Pidgeot winced in pain as it suffered recoiled. Butterfree was struggling to get but the damage it took was too great and it collapsed on the ground.
"I can't believe it." The Samurai mutter seeing this complete curb stomp of a victory. Sigh he returned Butterfree thanking for a hard fought battle.
"Great job Pidgeot!" Ash praised as he hugged the Bird Pokémon.
Pidgeot hugged back, proud of her victory. Several months ago she lost to that trainer's Pinsir, now she managed to dominated his team.
"Well done, you have greatly improved." Samurai complemented as he offered his hand.
Taking it Ash shook back. "Thanks, you got stronger to."
"Yes, but not as much as you have." Retreating his hand Samurai added, "Beware because the next time we meet, I will not lose." Tipping his hat, Samurai took off.
Watching Samurai take, Ash gave one more responds, "I'm looking forward to it."
Turning to face Ash, Samurai nodded before disappearing into the forest. Looking back at Pidgeot, he noticed a few wounded on her. Grabbing a potion, he began applying the spray on her. Pidgeot winced in pain as she was being treated. While his Pokémon were being treated, Ash asked Brock to teach how to apply potions. The breeder was shocked at first, but agreed it took a few tries but eventually he got the hang of it.
"That should do it, well what do you say we go back to the lab at everyone, not only are new team mate but you evolved?" Ash suggested.
Nodding Pidgeot chirped in agreement, she then motion Ash to get on her back.
"You want to give me a ride?" He asked.
Nodding, Pidgeot motion for Ash to get on again to which he did. Pidgeot then took off in the sky, as the two made their way to Pallet.
(A few minutes later at Oak's Lab)
"Looking good guys." Brock said, as he watched Pikachu, and Eevee digging in to the ground.
The two along had finished putting on the finishing touches on their moves, as did the other Pokémon. Now everyone began working on their new moves, to practice Brock had Pikachu and Eevee practice alongside Squirtle and Krabby work on their Dig on soft soil.
"Seems like they should get the move down in no time." Misty stated.
"Yah, Ash sure is going to be surprised." Brock added.
"Speaking of Ash how long do you think he's going to take?" Misty asked.
"Who knows but he said he wasn't coming back, until he caught a new Bug type." Brock replied.
He then noticed Misty had stiff at when he mentions the word bug. Still he was interested to see what Ash would find.
"Hey guys!"
Misty and Brock seem shocked as they looked around trying to find the source of the voice.
"Up here!" It added.
Looking up, the group was shocked as they noticed a large Pidgeot in the sky with someone on it.
"Is that?" Misty began.
"No way." Brock added.
"Hey Ash are you surprised." Ash said, as he and Pidgeot landed.
"Ash your Pidgeotto evolved?" Brock asked.
"Yah, she evolved battling a trainer." Ash began, as well as releasing Tauros and Muk.
Ash then began recalling the events as the Pokémon began surrounded Pidgeot, congratulating her.
"Wow Ash that's impressive." Misty complemented.
"Oh yah did you catch any new Bug Pokémon?" Brock asked.
"Sure did, come on out Scyther!" Ash cheered, releasing the Pokémon he caught earlier.
"Scyther!" The Mantis Pokémon cried out as it was released.
Misty, cried out loud as she Pokémon cried out, immediately she hid behind Brock. Scyther merely gave Misty a glance, before focusing its attention on his new trainer.
"Welcome to the team Scyther, I'm your new trainer Ash." Ash introduced, as he extended his hand.
Scyther stared at Ash for a moment before placing his scythe on Ash's hand. Ash smiled and shook Scyther's scythe, as he introduced him to his new team mates. The Pokémon cheered celebrating not only their friend's evolution but also their new teammate.
