I want thank Luckenhaft, who came up with idea. He always has some great ideas. Now it's time for Primeape's return.
Everyone gathers around in Prof. Oak's lab, eagerly waiting to watching Primeape's battle with Elite Four member Bruno's Machamp. Even some of Ash's other Pokémon were gathered. Over the past week the team had been working hard. So he tomorrow he was giving them the day off few the next two days. The new traded Pokémon quickly began fitting into the team quite nicely. Every now and then Sneasel would pull a prank like stealing Ash's hat, Pawniard often would be seen practicing with Scyther. Dusclops would chat with Muk, Cranidos would like to practicing charging with his Tauros. Chespin would follow Bulbasaur, Sandslash like hanging out with Krabby, while Dreepy would stay near Charizard or Dragonite. Dragonite would often join Muk in hugging everyone.
Currently, Pikachu was on his shoulder eagerly waiting to see their old friend fight. Bulbasaur and Squirtle were on the floor chatting with Chespin, Pawniard, and Sneasel. Eevee was playing with Dreepy happily chasing each other. Brock and Misty then sat down next to after placing a large bowl of popcorn on the floor for the Pokémon. They also handed one to him, Delia and Prof. Oak two a seat next them.
"The time has come folks; this is the match you have all came to see. The Grand P1X Champion Primeape, will be going up against Bruno for the Elite Four, and his Machamp. Both sides are ready to square off, and let's see who comes out on top."
Primeape was seen flecking his biceps pumped up for the fight. While Machamp stayed calm with its eyes focused on Primeape. The bell rung as the match started. Primeape made the first move as it used a Mega Punch. Machamp easily moved out of the way. Primeape then tried a Karate Chop, where Machamp side stepped it.
"Primeape start with an aggressive opening, but Machamp easily avoids it strikes." The announcer called out.
Primeape was growing frustrated, but he wasn't going to give in. Bring in his arms into an x formation, bouncing of Primeape went in for a Cross Chop. But Machamp simple held out his hands and caught the attack. Primeape was shocked his attack was stopped so easily. Machamp them threw Primeape to a corner, causing Primeape to land on the ground with a thud. Primeape struggled to get up, but managed to pull himself back up. Primeape the charge energy in its right fist, before throwing its right arm forward for a Focus Punch. Machamp caught the attack in one hand, as he lifted Primeape into the air, and brought a Karate Chop down on Primeape. Primeape's eyes went white as Machamp released it a Primeape fell onto the mat unconscious. The bell rung as Primeape could no longer continue.
"At that's it, like many Pokémon before Primeape has fallen to Bruno's unstoppable Machamp, in a dominate fashion. The champion gave it all but couldn't get the job done."
Everyone was stunned at what transpired, to see their old friend lose in such fashion.
"Poor Primeape." Ash couldn't help but say.
"That's the power of an Elite Four Pokémon." Brock said in awe.
"Awe, Primeape tried its hardest to win." Misty stated.
"Pika Pi." Pikachu said sadly.
Even Bulbasaur, and Squirtle looked upset seeing their old traveling companion's loss. With the fight over everyone cleaned up, before heading to Ash's house for bed. The next morning the mood was a bit lighter but everyone's thought were still on Primeape. The group had breakfast, went to the corral to feed the rest of Ash's Pokémon. Ash decided that tomorrow they would visit Primeape. Ash then spent the rest of the day, playing with his Pokémon, except for Charizard and Zeraora who decided to sleep the away.
(The Next Day)
Ash was giving the Pokémon their breakfast, when Prof. Oak called say he had a phone call, from someone young lady named Rebecca. Hearing this Ash went to answered, the video screen who a girl with red hair.
"Hi Rebecca." Ash greeted.
"Hi Ash, how are you?" Rebecca asked.
"I'm good thanks. How your father?" Ash replied.
"He fine, but he worried about Primeape." She answered.
"What wrong, with Primeape?" Ash asked worried.
"You see two days ago, Primeape went up against a powerful trainer…" Rebecca began.
"Bruno from the Elite Four." Ash finished.
Rebecca was surprised but nodded, "Well after that fight he's been real depressed, he hasn't eaten anything yesterday, and didn't eat anything today. He hasn't done anything else, he just been sitting with a sad look on his face." Rebecca stated.
Ash knew what Primeape was going through, he felt that way after losing to Blaine. He also had a similar feeling after that poacher wrecked his team.
"I was wondering if you wouldn't mind coming over for a visit. I'm sure your busy preparing for the league. But I'm sure you visiting will cheer Primeape up." Rebecca asked.
Smiling Ash nodded before replying, "Sure, I was already planning on visiting."
Rebecca lit up, "Oh thank you Ash."
With that, Ash informed her, that he'll be leaving after his Pokémon finished their breakfast. When he was done, he went to grab a few things, and called over Brock and Misty. Since traveling by foot would take weeks, they had no choice but to ride his Pokémon there. Once at the lab Ash called his Charizard, Dragonite, and Pidgeot. Brock would ride on Charizard, Dragonite would take Misty, and Ash would ride on Pidgeot. It took the group about a few to fly to Celadon City, where Anthony's gym was located. As they were close to arriving at their destination Ash saw Rebecca, and Anthony talking to Primeape.
"Hey, Rebecca, Anthony and Primeape it's me!" He called out catching their attention.
The trio looked up to see three large shapes headed towards them. Then the group landed, greeting everyone. Primeape eyes widen seeing his old trainer again instantly. Once they landed Brock instantly flirted with Rebecca, only for Misty to pull his ear.
"Hey kids, how is it going?" Anthony greeted.
"Where good." Ash replied.
"That good," Anthony remarked, then noticing the Pokémon standing behind them. "Hey are all these you Pokémon kid? Whoa, a Dragonite." He asked.
Smiling proudly Ash replied, "Yah, there all mine. Check it out Primeape remember Charmander well he's now a Charizard."
Primeape, looked at the Charizard standing next to him. He was surprised to see the Charmander his previous trainer used to catch him was all grown up. Charizard looked at Primeape, remembering the Pig Monkey Pokémon.
"I'm sure you remember Pikachu." Ash stated.
"Pika pika." Pikachu greeted.
Primeape nodded remembering the yellow mouse.
"You remember Pidgeotto, while she is now a Pidgeot." Ash introduced the large bird.
Primeape nodded, only briefly meeting the bird. Pidgeot cawed as it greeted Primeape.
"Finally I liked to introduce you to Dragonite." Ash introduced the last Pokémon he brought.
Primeape was shocked to see the large dragon, stand next to his trainer. He noticed Dragonite staring at him, before it could act it pulled him Anthony and Rebecca into a big hug.
"Hey it's got quite the grip." Anthony noted.
"Yah, sorry Dragonite likes to give out hugs." Ash apologized.
"Its fine." Rebecca struggled to reply.
Primeape struggled to get out of Dragonite's grip, but soon felt relaxed in Dragonite's arms. After getting Dragonite to release everyone, the group began catching up. Primeape was amazed by Ash's stories, and kind of wished he could have been there to see them.
"I saw your fight with Bruno." Ash finally brought up.
Hearing about his last fight Primeape felt his disappointment return. Knowing what Primeape was going through, he suggested they go for a walk to clear their minds. Primeape was surprised but agreed. Before long they were walking a path filled with dirt, and several large boulders next to them.
"You recognized this place, Primeape?" Ash asked.
Primeape stopped and looked around trying to see what was so special to remember about it.
"This is route 7 the same place that we met." Ash stated, catching Primeape's attention.
Primeape looked around again, and realized he was right. Ash took a seat on a boulder, and motioned Primeape to join. Taking a seat next to Ash, he listens to Ash's voice.
"I know how your feeling Primeape." Ash said catching Primeape's and Pikachu's attention.
"A few months ago I battled Blaine a fire type gym leader. I was so sure I was going to win, but I lost. And then last week a come across a poacher attacking a Pokémon, and when I tried to help my team got hurt really bad. If it was for some luck, we would of failed to save that Pokémon, and worst maybe my team. The Pokémon we helped managed to recover its strength long enough to use Bulbasaur's Sleep Powder to knock them out." Ash told Primeape.
Primeape looked at Ash, he had an unreasonable expression. "Right now you're feeling weak, like you're not good enough. Maybe even powerless?" Ash asked receiving a nod.
"Well if they were one thing the that fight with the poacher taught, was I needed to get better, stronger, not just to protect my Pokémon, but also for my dream. And I learned that a loss reminds you that you have some things to improve, and room to grow. Thanks to that fight, I can see every loss taught me something new, and made me better because of it. I know that you down now but when you get back up, you're going to get stronger because of it." Ash stated.
Primeape and Pikachu looked at Ash in awe, they could really see how much he has grown. Pikachu especially saw how much Ash became a better trainer than when he first started. The trio stated on the rock for a bit relaxing, but when the decided it was time to head back, they heard the sound of heavy footsteps. Looking around a saw a bipedal Pokémon, with thick, grey armor plating, two fangs on its top jaw, a pair of red eyes, and a horn on its nose.
"Rhydon." Ash calmly stated, looking at the Pokémon he could tell it was powerful, he could see several scars, not doubt from its previous battles. Also judging from the size of its horn, it was male, he briefly recalled Brock mentioning the deference between males and females. He noticed Primeape eyeing the powerful Pokémon.
"Hey Primeape, want to help me catch it for old times' sake?" Ash asked, receiving a nod.
Smiling Ash, Pikachu, and Primeape moved to face the Rhydon. Noticing their presence, Rhydon roared at them. Grinning Ash told Pikachu to hang back, he wanted Primeape to fight it to regain his battling spirit. Pikachu was a bit upset but nodding understanding.
"Primeape use Karate Chop." Ash stated.
Primeape's hand glowed as he ran forward, ready to strike Rhydon. Seeing Primeape charging, Rhydon charged forward as well, with a trail of white light following it.
"It's coming in with a Take Down, jump out of the way and then strike." Ash commanded.
Hearing Ash's voice, Primeape did as he said, and leaped out of the way. Rhydon missed and when it turned around Primeape struck Rhydon skull causing it to grunt out in pain, and take a few steps back.
"Now use Cross Chop." Ash continued the assault.
Bringing his arms together Primeape smashed in Rhydon, causing it to stagger. Primeape then followed up with a Low Kick, causing Rhydon to go on one knee. Rhydon glared at Primeape, as its horn glowed, and fired several blast of energy.
"It's using Rock Blast, deflect them with Karate Chop." Ash countered.
With its hands glowing, Primeape struck every blast breaking the attack in half. Primeape began jumping, oh how he missed this. He could feel the fire burning again.
"Primeape stay focus it running at you with a Drill Run, dodge then Low Kick and another Cross Chop." Ash stated.
Jumping to the side, Rhydon missed another attack and struck the other leg, causing Rhydon to cry out in pain. Primeape the slammed in Rhydon with another Cross Chop. Rhydon landed on its stomach, as it struggled to get up.
"Finish it with a Focus Punch." Ash stated, punching the air.
"Primeape." Primeape stated calmly gathering the energy.
Once Rhydon stood up it looked behind it, but its eyes widen before Primeape's fist connected with its face. Rhydon collapsed again on its back. Taking the opportunity Ash tossed a Pokéball, it bounced off of Rhydon as it was sucked in. The ball wobbled for a few second, before it gave out a ping, confirming capture. Primeape walked up, and grabbed the Pokéball, he then handed to Ash.
"Thanks Primeape, all right we caught a Rhydon." Ash cheered.
"Pika Pika!" Pikachu cheered.
Ash smiled looking at his new Pokémon, in its Pokéball. Grabbing his dex he scanned his new friend.
Rhydon, the Drill Pokémon, and the evolve form of Rhyhorn. Its begins walking on its hind legs after evolution. It can punch holes through boulders with its horn. The Rhydon is male, and has the ability Rock Head. Rhydon's moves are Take Down, Horn Drill, Stomp, Rock Blast, Horn Attack, and Hammer Arm. Its egg moves Dragon Rush, and Metal Burst have not been unlocked yet.
Ash nodded, this Rhydon was quite powerful but still was young. He then heard the sounds of footsteps turning around, he saw a large, shirtless man, with black spiky hear, white pants, and a black belt tied around it.
"Well done that was most impressive young man." The man stated coming closer.
Ash narrowed his eyes he knew this man from somewhere, they then widen.
"You're Bruno!" He exclaimed.
"I am, and you are?" He asked.
"I'm Ash Ketchum, I've very honored to meet you." Ash greeted as he extended his hand.
Bruno smiled as shook Ash's hand.
"You showed potential, then way you handled battling that Rhydon, with Primeape was impressive. Tell me will you be entering the Indigo this year?" Bruno asked.
"Ah yeah, I took a break from training today to let me Pokémon relax a bit." Ash replied.
"Good, it important to allow the body to rest, and the mind recover." Bruno stated.
He then looked at Primeape with curious eyes. Primeape remembering Bruno glared at him.
"I remember you, you battle my Machamp a few days ago." Bruno stated. He then looked over to Ash wondering, how then knew each other.
"You see sir, I used to be Primeape's trainer, and when we won the P1X Anthony offered Primeape the chance to train with. I thought it was best for him to become the strongest P1X champion, so I left him to train with Anthony. After his loss to you, Anthony's daughter asked me to visit him hoping to cheer him up." Ash explained.
Bruno nodded, I was nice a trainer truly cares for a Pokémon's wellbeing. Looking a Primeape again he smiled as he asked, "How would you like a rematch?"
Everyone was stunned, especially Primeape, but he shook it off as he nodded.
"But, I have one condition." Bruno added, making everyone curious. He then looked at Ash, "I want you in his corner."
"Me?" Ash asked shocked.
Bruno nodded, causing Ash to look at Primeape. Primeape also nodded causing Ash to smile.
"I accept." Ash stated.
The group decided to have the battle at Anthony's gym, so they walked back. Ash asked Bruno what was it like being an Elite Four member, and what the others were like. Bruno answered all of Ash questions, while asked a few of his own.
He asked Ash where was he from, what his training plans were, and how long he had been training for. Ash answered all the questions with great enthusiasm. Bruno enjoyed the young man's company, not many had his fiery spirit, and determination. Once they arrived everyone was shocked to see Bruno, and even more so when was next to him. Brock and Misty demanded to know the story behind this one. Once Ash told them we're shocked for a few reason. One Ash had unbelievable luck, not only finding and catch a Rhydon. Two meeting a member of the Elite Four. And three said Elite Four member requested a battle with him. The two silently swore not to missed on the next luck he had.
The two match their way to the ring, with Primeape and Ash in one corner, and Bruno and Machamp in another. Anthony rang the bell to start.
"Primeape use Karate Chop." Ash began.
Primeape ran forwards with his hand glowing, but Machamp side stepped the attack like last time. This time however….
"Change to Low Kick." Ash countered.
Hearing the command, this time Primeape stopped and kick Machamp's leg. Machamp did even react, however Primeape grinned it made contact.
Bruno retaliated by having Machamp use its own Karate Chop. Ash defended by having Primeape and bounced off the ropes for Cross Chop. The Karate Chop missed and Primeape avoid the blow and struck back with a momentum boost Cross Chop. The attack didn't due to much again, and Machamp used the opportunity to grab Primeape. Ash told Primeape to use Karate on the fingers. After several strikes Primeape managed to break free. But Machamp retailed with a Low Kick of its own. Primeape struck the corner again, as it struggled to get up.
"Come on Primeape, you can get up I know you can. Remember what I said, and loss isn't and end but an opportunity to learn and get strong. Know show how what you've learned, and how strong you are." Ash cheered with Pikachu joining in.
Primeape heard Ash's voice, and stood up with narrow eyes. He shocked everyone back running towards Machamp and launched a punch at Machamp who blocked it. But then Primeape began hitting Machamp with a flurry of kicks and punches. Machamp grunted as it took the hit, and but Primeape managed to get a few good hit in.
"Wow Primeape, learned Close Combat." Brock said amazed.
Bruno grinning seeing the fire inside Primeape, similar to Ash's. Primeape finished the close combat, but was exhausted from it.
"Machamp use Cross Chop." Bruno called out.
Machamp bounced off of the ropes, and raced towards Primeape. Primeape then braced itself for the attack.
"Stop!" Bruno then called out surprising everyone.
Machamp stopped the attack, causing everyone to look at Bruno.
"Primeape has shown it true potential when battling with you Ash." Bruno stated. "You see a Pokémon true potential is unleashed when the battle with a trainer with the same spirit as them. I believe it's time for Primeape to return to Ash, were it can show case it's true potential, without being limited. Wouldn't you agree?" Bruno asked Anthony.
Anthony thought about is for a moment, and then nodded. "I agree Primeape has learned everything it could from me. But the choice isn't mine to make."
He motions towards Primeape who seemed to be thinking about it. He looked at Ash before nodding his head towards him.
"Primeape do you want to rejoin my team?" Ash asked.
Nodding Ash cheered, as his first fighting type rejoined his team. Everyone cheered at the joyous moment. After treating Primeape, Bruno bid goodbye, stating he looked forwards to seeing what they will do at the Indigo League, and promised another rematch one day. After Bruno left, Ash, Misty, and Brock said their own goodbyes as they flew back to Pallet Town, with Primeape, and a new Rhydon at Ash's side.
