Alright seems people are split with Team Rocket leaving, but we have time to think of their future. Now should Brock and Misty keep Togepi, and Vulpix, always hated the way they got rid of them, as there was no real reason to, this also extends to other characters like Team Rocket's Victreebel, Arbok, Weezing, any Pokémon they leave at their headquarters, Dawn's Ambipom, and any other Pokémon that left that I didn't mention. I didn't mention Pidgeot because I've stated Ash will keep her.
As Gengar took off, Ash immediately returned Charizard took off after him, with Misty and Brock going following. He lost sight of Gengar, so he then called out his Pidgeot, and asked for her help in locating Gengar. Pidgeot nodded as it took off, its scanned every nook and cranny, and movement coming from the shadow. Eventually she spotted the large purple ghost, and flew back to her trainer.
Brock and Misty had managed to catch up to Ash, just in time for Pidgeot to alert him. The three followed Pidgeot back to the area where Gengar was. Just as Ash had turn the corner he ran into someone else. The person fell onto his back, while Ash stumbled back and held his head. Gengar heard the collision followed by the very same trainer he protected voice, along with another familiar voice. Follow the voices he found the very same trainer that abandon him. As he listens to his trainer brag about how he better off without him, he snapped and fired a Shadow Ball at him.
He managed to avoid, the Shadow Ball as he shouted out, "Oh no its you."
"Gengar!" Ash shouted out surprise. As the person Gengar was attacking narrowly avoid a Shadow Ball, Ash took in the words he said. His eyes narrowed as he realized that Gengar had been abounded.
"So you were Gengar's original trainer how could you abandon it." Ash demanded furious, with Misty and Brock also frowned.
Gengar once again fired a series of Shadow Balls, and despite the fact that Gengar deserved it Ash knew this wasn't right. He then had Pikachu block them with a Thunderbolt. Gengar panted as he charged up an even larger Shadow Ball. Gengar's former trainer began spouting out hade much bad luck he had, and blamed it on Gengar only infuriating the ghost even further.
"Don't you dare talk about Gengar that way!" Ash shouted.
The trainer just ran away along with the girl who was accompany with him. Gengar was panting heavily and disappeared again, causing the gang to search for it again. With Pidgeot's help they spotted Gengar not to long after they found Gengar who became trapped by on of Team Rocket's contraptions. As Team Rocket began walking Ash called out….
"Pikachu, use Iron Tail."
"Pika." Pikachu cried out, as it slammed its tail onto the container holding Gengar setting it free.
"No fare we captured that Gengar unfair and square." Jessie whined.
Team Rocket then released Arbok and Weezing to battle.
Pikachu cheeks cackled ready to battle, and Ash looked at Gengar and asked, "Want to battle with me?"
This surprised everyone, Ash ignored their looks and continued, "I don't what the other person said, after all he's wrong. You're a great Pokémon, I could tell that the moment I met you. Which is why I want to be on my team."
"Oh please Gengar says it doesn't trust humans, let's alone a twerp like you." Meowth stated.
Ash just ignored them and continued, "You don't have to trust me right away, Pikachu didn't but now we're best friends. And if you battle with me, and give me one chance I know we'll be friends too."
Gengar took in Ash's words, and stepped forwards.
"You'll battle with us?" Ash cheered.
"Gengar." Gengar said, with a grin.
"Fraternizing with the twerps?" Jessie said shook. "Fine Arbok use Poison Sting."
"Arbok." Arbok hissed firing several needles.
"Weezing Sludge attack." James added.
"Weezing." Weezing wheezed out spitting out a brown substance.
"Pikachu block that with Thunderbolt." Ash defended.
"Pika! Chu!" Pikachu said, before unleashing it high voltage of electricity.
Pikachu managed to block both attacks, allowing Gengar to hit both opponents with a Shadow Ball.
Then both of Gengar's eyes glowed pink as Arbok and Weezing were enveloped in a pink aura as they were lifted into the air, and thrown back. The two landed on the ground with a thud, and were unconscious.
"Wow, the Gengar sure is powerful." Brock commented.
Returning their Pokémon, they duo sent out their Victreebel and Lickitung.
"Lickitung use Lick on Gengar/Victreebel use Razor Leaf." Jessie and James ordered.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt." Ash countered.
"Pika." Pikachu cheeks cackled with electricity as Gengar began charging a Shadow Ball.
The two launched their attacks sending Team Rocket flying, as they disappeared Pikachu and Gengar gave each other a high five. Walking up to Gengar Ash offered his hand.
"Gengar you were awesome, so what do you say about joining my team?" Ash offered.
Gengar looked hesitant for a second, and as he looked into Ash's eyes looking for any form of deception, only to find none. Gengar nodded causing Ash to smile as he grabbed an empty Pokéball, holding it out for Gengar. Gengar tapped it as he was sucked inside, before the Pokéball pinged confirming capture. Grabbing the Pokéball, Ash cheered holding it into the air.
The group went back to the Pokémon Center where Ash sent back Charizard in order to bring back Gengar.
Ash then released Gengar and walked up to him, "Gengar you and I are going to make a great team."
For the first time in a long time, Gengar truly felt happy being with a trainer. Grabbing his Pokédex Ash wanted to check on Gengar's stats.
This Gengar is male, and has the ability Levitate. Gengar's moves are: Shadow Ball, Dark Pulse, Night Shade, Ice Punch, Psychic, Dazzling Gleam, Shadow Punch, and Confuse Ray.
"Wow Gengar, you sure are powerful." Ash state, causing Gengar to grin.
Releasing his other Pokémon, Ash introduced his team to Gengar. Gengar quickly made friends with his team mates and much to their dismay would occasionally play pranks. Misty and Brock also took the opportunity to introduce their own Pokémon. Once Gengar was properly introduced everyone Ash returned his team mates in order to rest up for tomorrow.
Morning quickly came, and after a good breakfast the group made their way to the stadium. Once it was time Ash walked onto the field, as he walked up to his opponent, he couldn't help but notice that he felt familiar.
"Hi the Fergus and I look forward to battling you." Fergus stated with a cocky grin.
"I look forward to facing you too." Ash responded shaking his hand. "May the best trainer win." He added.
"I intend too." Fergus responded.
Once back in on the side, the ref announced the match. This will be a full 6 on 6 battle, each trainer will use up to 6 Pokémon and the battle will be over when all of one side's Pokémon are unable to battle. Substitutions are allowed does each trainer understand?" The ref stated then receiving nods from the trainer.
On the screen a coin was tossed to see who would be making the first move the coin landed tails meaning Ash would release his Pokémon first.
"Let the battle begin." The ref announced.
"Gengar, I choose you." Ash called his newly caught Gengar.
"Gengar." Gengar cackled as it floated in the air.
"A Ghost type huh, okay then Vaporeon Surfs Up." Fergus responded, releasing a light blue Pokémon, with a white fin around the neck, a spiky ridge along its spine and three fins on the sides of its head.
"Poreon." Vaporeon cried out, as it was released.
"It's so beautiful." Misty said, with hearts in her eyes.
"Yeah, and it looks well train." Brock added.
"Okay Gengar let's start off strong use Shadow Ball." Ash began with.
"Gengar." Gengar responded with a grin as it formed a purple and black orb.
"Vaporeon use your Shadow Ball too." Fergus countered.
The two orbs collided as an explosion created a small layer of smoke. As the smoke cleared both trainers had a frown, seeing the power their opponents had.
"Gengar use Night Shade." Ash continued.
"Vaporeon counter with Water Pulse." Fergus retaliated.
A pair of black energy beams shot out of Gengar's eyes collided with a blue orb created from Vaporeon. The two continued to battle as Vaporeon swiped at Gengar with its tail, only for Gengar to phase out to avoid it. Fergus told Vaporeon to hit Gengar with an Ice Beam, while had Gengar retaliated with a Dark Pulse. Both Pokémon moved around the field in an attempted to find an opening.
"Gengar use Confuse Ray." Ash ordered.
Several purple orb appeared around Gengar as it launched them towards Vaporeon. Vaporeon leaped out of the way only for Gengar to reappear smashing its fist into Vaporeon with an Ice Punch. Vaporeon cried out, before managing to land on its feet.
"Vaporeon use Hydro Pump." Fergus continued.
"Gengar dodge then Night Shade." Ash countered.
Vaporeon fired out high pressurized volume of water, towards Gengar who managed to phase out of the way. Reappearing next to Vaporeon Gengar fired the two beam of energy from its eyes. Seeing the incoming Vaporeon burrowed into the ground. Clicking his tongue, Ash retaliated by telling Gengar to move around the field. Gengar began disappear appearing before reappearing, in an effort to keep Vaporeon from locating him.
"Vaporeon Surf." Fergus ordered.
Vaporeon surface, then its eyes glowed blue as a giant wave risen from the ground. Gengar wasn't able to avoid the wave as it was slammed into the ground. Vaporeon didn't let up as it fired an Ice Beam, entrapping in an ice case. As Gengar tried to get out, Vaporeon slam an Iron Tail into Gengar. The ice shatter as Gengar landed on the ground with a thud.
Ash gritted his teeth, already he was in a bad spot. Gengar took major damage, but that didn't mean it was over yet. Before Ash could call out his next move, Vaporeon burrowed into the ground. Looking at Gengar he noticed was also starting to grow frustrated.
"Gengar!" Ash called getting his attention. "Remember to keep calm, look for any signs of Vaporeon."
Both trainer and Pokémon took a deep breath, as they looked around. Vaporeon popped up from behind Gengar and was about to strike Gengar when Ash called out, "Psychic."
Gengar's eyes glowed a light pink, and it caught Vaporeon in mid-air. Gengar then began stretching Vaporeon, before launching her into the stadium wall. Vaporeon landed with a thud, as Gengar took the opportunity to use Confuse Ray. Vaporeon eyes grow hollow as it began head-butting the wall.
"Oh no your hurting yourself. Vaporeon try to calm down." Fergus called out.
However, this fell on deaf ears as Vaporeon continued to wear itself out. Gengar took the opportunity to use Shadow Ball. Vaporeon cried out in pain as the orb slammed into it. Gengar used a Dazzling Gleam, the powerful flash struck Vaporeon sending flying.
"Vaporeon use Hydro Pump to slow down your fall." Fergus cried out.
Vaporeon's eyes snapped open as it fired the spiral of water towards the ground. The powerful blast of water slowed down its decent. Once on the ground Vaporeon glared at Gengar who glared back.
"Shadow Ball/Hydro Pump." The two trainers called out.
The two attacks creating a layer of smoke, and when it clear Vaporeon was gone. Ash's eyes widen as he realized something.
"Gengar use several Shadow Balls on the ground." Ash called out.
Gengar grinned as it fired several orbs the struck the ground. Several explosions tour the ground leaving several created, and Vaporeon was flung from the earth. Seeing the opportunity, Gengar fired a see through fist that smacked into Vaporeon.
"Vaporeon use Aqua Tail. Fergus countered.
Vaporeon managed to twist it body, and landed on all fours, before a spiral of water swirled around the tail. The spiral of water trapped Gengar was it smack him around. Knowing Gengar wouldn't be able to take that much damage for too long Ash looked for a weak point in the attack.
"Gengar use Night Shade." Ash tried to counter. As the beams struck the water they were repelled and destroyed. Ash gritted his teeth, that didn't so maybe… "Gengar use Dark Pulse."
This time the spirals of intertwining rings blasted the water apart. With Gengar free, Ash then called for a Dazzling Gleam, while Fergus called for an Ice Beam. The bright light in a rainbow colors smacked into Vaporeon's Ice Beam. An explosion covered the field as Gengar and Vaporeon were pushed back. And when the smoked cleared, Vaporeon was collapsed on the ground, unable to continue. The ref then held the flag towards Vaporeon.
"Vaporeon is unable to battle, Gengar wins." He announced.
"Incredible, it was a hard fought battle in the end Gengar won this fight." The announcer stated.
"That Gengar is strong." Misty complemented it. She remembered seeing its strength against Dusclops but Ash only for a little while. Not like its opponent's Vaporeon. Although she was a little disappointed seeing the water type lose.
"Yah, its helps that Gengar seems to work with Ash's style." Brock added.
Fergus sighed as returned Vaporeon, "You did great Vaporeon." He then added with a grin. Grabbing another Pokéball, he said, "Your Gengar really tough Ash, but it won't save you from Tentacruel, Surfs up." Fergus announced releasing a jellyfish with two large orbs on its head, and several long grey tentacles.
Ash suddenly had a flashback to Porta Vista incident, and the giant Tentacruel. Shaken the incident off, he went back to focusing on Tentacruel in front of him. Looking at Gengar he could tell he needed a rest.
"Take a break Gengar." Ash stated returning the ghost. Then grabbing another he called out, "Sandslash I choose you."
"Sandslash." Sandslash squeaked ready to battle.
"I get to attack first this time." Fergus stated. "Tentacruel use Bubble Beam."
Tentacruel shot out an array of bubbles, towards Sandslash. Seeing the incoming attack Sandslash retaliated by firing several stars towards the bubbles. Each of the bubble popped as the star struck Tentacruel. As the stars struck Tentacruel didn't seem bothered by the attack. Tentacruel then firing back, as one of its tentacles swing as it was coated in purple energy. Sandslash grunted as Tentacruel struck its stomach.
"Quite the interesting matchup." Brock commented.
"What do you mean Brock?" Misty asked.
"Both Tentacruel and Sandslash are known for the defenses, but they each can blows from the opposite spectrum. Tentacruel can handle special attack, which are better handling physical hits." Brock explained.
"Okay that makes sense, but why would they both use moves that wouldn't cause much damage?" Misty continued.
"My best guess, their testing out the others power, and reaction." Brock theorized.
"Tentacruel use Scald." Fergus continued his attacks.
Tentacruel unleashed a blast of hot boiling water towards Sandslash. Seeing the attack Ash had Sandslash defend itself with Icicle Crash to create a barrier. The hot water eventually melted the ice, but was unable to reach Sandslash.
"Sandslash strike back with Icicle Spear." Ash called out.
Sandslash then fired back several icicle towards Tentacruel, who saw the incoming attack and counterattack with a Water Pulse. The orb of water held off all the icicles blocking the move. Both trainers observed their options, taking the opportunity Fergus called for Whirlpool. The swirling pool of water was flung towards Sandslash who used and Ice Beam to freeze it solid. Then Ash had Sandslash use Crush Claw to slide it in half. The two halves of the frozen whirlpool collapsed on the field, however Tentacruel use the opportunity to strike Sandslash with a Scald.
"Sandslash!" Sandslash cried out in pain.
"Sandslash, use Metal Burst." Ash called out.
Sandslash body glowed grey, as it fired back a white orb that slammed into Tentacruel causing it to grunt in pain. Not letting up Ash had Sandslash continue with an Iron Head. Sandslash glowed a metallic color before smashing its skull into Tentacruel. Tentacruel landed on the ground with a thud, as it winced in pain. Sandslash then ran forward with its claws encase in a purple energy.
Seeing Sandslash running towards it, Fergus continued with a Hydro Pump. Sandslash was launched back as it slammed on the ground. Sandslash tried to get up back its spikes were stuck in the ground, preventing it from getting up. Seeing the opponents helpless Fergus called for a Surf.
"Sandslash get out of there!" Ash cried out, however it was no use as Sandslash could only look helplessly as the massive wave crashed into it.
The wave managed to free Sandslash, however it was on its stomach completely drenched.
"Tentacruel use another Hydro Pump." Fergus yelled in trump.
The high pressured its walk quickly made its way towards Sandslash, and just before hitting, Sandslash instinctively burrowed underground. Fergus smacked his forehead, as the attack missed, while Ash breathed a sigh in relief. Sandslash then emerged smashing it right claw into Tentacruel. Sandslash didn't let up as struck Tentacruel with a Night Slade with its left claw. However, Tentacruel was down yet, as glowed purple as it struck Sandslash with a Payback. Sandslash slid back, as it took the attack.
"Sandslash use Hail." Ash called out, waiting to change it up.
Sandslash glowed an icy blue, as clouds covered the sky, as ice fell from the sky.
"Nice try, Tentacruel use Rain Dance." Fergus countered.
This time Tentacruel glowed blue, as the ice disappear before rain fell from the sky. Ash frowned, look like Fergus was prepared for this too.
"Sandslash use Icicle Spear." Ash called out.
"Tentacruel Scald." Fergus countered.
The boiling water, melted the ice, as Sandslash managed to jump back in time. Ash then order Sandslash to use Mist. The entire field was covered and neither could see the other. Sandslash was panting, the battle had taken its toll on him. Looking at Tentacruel it was also panting, though not as heavily.
"Tentacruel let's wrap this up with another Surf." Fergus stated.
This got Ash sweating, seeing the massive wave erupted from below Tentacruel. Knowing he only had seconds left, he ordered Sandslash to use Blizzard. This got Sandslash to unleash a freezing blast of cold air, as hit the bottom of the wave. The lower section of the wave froze as the top fell off causing Tentacruel to fall off the wave. Seeing Tentacruel fall, Fergus had it use Hydro Pump to slow down its decent. As it landed it was struck by a powerful strike from an Ice Punch. Tentacruel fell forward as part of the ice froze over the back of Tentacruel.
Sandslash charged forwards again this time preparing a Night Slash, as one it was close enough….
"Scald on more time!" Tentacruel blasted the hot water at close range.
Sandslash cried out in pain as it collapsed twitching from the hot water. Using the chance, Fergus order on more Hydro Pump. The powerful blast sent Sandslash into the stadium, and when the attack ended, it collapsed on the ground unable to continue.
"Sandslash is unable to battle which mean Tentacruel is the winner." The ref announced.
"It was a tuff battle but in the end Tentacruel manage to outlast Sandslash." The announcer stated, as the crowd cheered.
"You were great Sandslash, take a long rest." Ash said, returning the Mouse Pokémon.
"Okay Bulbasaur choose you." Ash called out.
"Bulbasaur, Bulba." Bulbasaur grunted as it was released.
"Bulbasaur vs Tentacruel begin." The ref announced.
"Bulbasaur use Razor Leaf." Ash began.
"Bulba." Bulbasaur stated as it launched several sharp leaves.
"Ha, Tentacruel take out that shrimp with an Ice Beam." Fergus, called out.
Tentacruel unleash the blast of freezing energy, the frozen the leaves and continue making its way towards Bulbasaur.
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur grunted as it jumped out of the way.
"Use Bullet Seed." Ash retaliated.
Bulbasaur fired several seeds that struck Tentacruel, the attack didn't do too much to Tentacruel. Tentacruel fired back with a Sludge Bomb, as it launched a purple orb of sludge. Once again Bulbasaur leapt out of the way. Deciding to change tactics Ash ordered Bulbasaur to use Leech Seed.
Bulbasaur fired a seed from its bulb that sprouted vines that wrapped itself around Tentacruel. As Tentacruel fired it energy drained, it glowed orange as Bulbasaur began wincing in pain.
"What happen?" Ash asked not understand why Bulbasaur was in pain.
"That Tentacruel's ability Liquid Ooze, instead gaining back energy, it drains you're their own energy." Fergus explained.
Ash's eyes widen, as since Bulbasaur's Leech Seed won't end until Tentacruel defeated, he'll just keep losing energy.
"Bulbasaur use Energy Ball." Ash responded.
Creating a green orb, Bulbasaur fired it, as it collided with another Ice Beam. Both Pokémon winced as Leech Seed and Liquid Ooze continue to zap their strength. Know he couldn't let Bulbasaur lose too much energy.
"Tentacruel use Ice Beam." Fergus continued want to take another Pokémon before Tentacruel became too tired.
"Bulbasaur dodge then Sleep Powder." Ash called out.
Bulbasaur jumped into air, causing the ice beam struck the ground freezing it. Once in the air, Bulbasaur released a white powder into the air. Once it landed on Tentacruel, the Jellyfish Pokémon fell asleep.
Knowing this was their opportunity to take out another one of Fergus's Pokémon, Ash told Bulbasaur to strike using Energy Bomb, Seed Bomb, and Magical Leaf. After these series of attacks Tentacruel was still asleep, and Bulbasaur was taking deep breath. Wanting end this Ash told Bulbasaur to charge use a Solar Beam.
Bulbasaur's glowed began absorbing the sunlight, as a white energy could be seen in the bulb. Fergus told Tentacruel to wake, as after some time it did. Tentacruel attempted another Ice Beam but Bulbasaur leaped out of the way. However, the ground became frozen, and when Bulbasaur landed on the ground it struggled to stay still as it keeps slipping and sliding. Seeing Bulbasaur struggling Fergus called out for a Blizzard. Since Blizzard had bad accuracy Fergus had been relaying on Ice Beam, but with Bulbasaur struggling to keep from slipping now would be the best chance.
As the blast of freezing cold air made its way to Bulbasaur, Ash told Bulbasaur to retaliate with the Solar Beam. Bulbasaur fired the blast of energy, it went straight through the Blizzard and slammed into Tentacruel, however still connected with Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur flew back, and the Solar Beam explosion covering the area in smoke. Bulbasaur struggled a bit, but managed to stand up, as for Tentacruel. The smoke clearing revealing Tentacruel was out cold.
"Tentacruel is unable to battle and Bulbasaur is the winner." The ref stated.
"Despite having battling once today, Tentacruel still but up fight, but in the end Bulbasaur still emerged triumphant." The announcer stated.
"Tentacruel you did great, take a break." Fergus said. Grabbing his next choice, he released a three headed bird.
"Dodrio, strike them down." Fergus called out his next choice.
"Ahh." Dodrio cawed as it came out.
"Bulbasaur return." Ash said, returning Bulbasaur to its ball. Placing on his belt, he grabbed his next choice. "Squirtle I choose you."
"Squirtle, Squirt." Squirtle called out as it was released.
"Dodrio vs Squirtle Begin."
"Dodrio use Quick Attack." Fergus began.
"Squirtle Iron Defense." Ash countered.
Before Squirtle could retreat into his shell, Dodrio blitz forward and slammed into him sending Squirtle crashing into the ground. Squirtle landed on his back and struggled to get back up. Smirking, Fergus ordered Dodrio to use Drill Peck. Dodrio ran forwards each of its beaks glowing as it began spinning.
"Squirtle Hydro Pump." Ash retaliated.
Squirtle retreated into his shell as he began spinning with water fired from each of holes in Squirtle's shell. Dodrio was knocked back as Squirtle doused Dodrio with the cool water. Dodrio ruffled its feather in an attempted to get dry.
"Now Ice Beam on the ground." Ash continued.
"Squirtle!" Squirtle grunted as it blasted the ground freeze the ground.
As the ground froze, Dodrio this time was the one who struggled to stay up. Knowing Dodrio wouldn't do well on the field Fergus surprised everyone by returning the bird.
"Smart move you did there, but that won't save you. Surfs up Gyarados." Fergus announced releasing the giant sea serpent.
"Gyaraaaa!" Gyarados roared, as it was released.
Both Ash and Squirtle were nervous, after Gyarados were some of the fiercest Pokémon of all time. They were known for having a bad temperament, and the power to back it up. Tales were told of Gyarados destroy towns and villains for angering one. Gyarados very few Pokémon in Kanto were known for being willing to battle a Gyarados without the type advantage. Bulbasaur was already too worn out to even think about sending out against it. He wasn't sure Gengar had regain enough strength face off against it. Squirtle would but up a good fight, but Ash wasn't sure if he could win. Pikachu had the best match up, but Gyarados can learn a lot of moves so even if Pikachu had the type, Gyarados could easily turn the tide. As for his last choice the match would be too close to call.
"Squirtle, Squirt." Squirtle called out getting Ash's attention.
"You want to battle still?" Ash asked, receiving a nod. "Okay then."
"Gyarados Thunderbolt." Fergus called out.
"What!?" Ash shouted in shock.
Gyarados whole body cackled with electricity as it fired the bolt towards Squirtle. However, a green barrier surround Squirtle, the Protect rising just in time to save Squirtle. Fergus clicked is tongue but grinned.
"Squirtle use Ice Beam." Ash said.
"Squirtle." Squirtle reply, as it fired the attack towards Gyarados.
"Flamethrower." Fergus quickly countered.
Gyarados opened its mouth as a torrent of fire were unleashed, it quickly melted the Ice Beam as struck Squirtle.
"Squirtle Squirt!" Squirtle cried in pain.
"Squirtle use Hydro Pump and Gyro Ball." Ash retaliate quickly. The Flamethrower not do as damage as it looked but the damage would build up over time.
Squirtle began spinning around was the water managed to douse the flames creating a layer of stream. Gyarados searched for any signs of Squirtle, however Squirtle flew through the stream, and slammed into Gyarados's side. Gyarados hissed in pain, before swatting Squirtle out of the air with its tail. The force smack Squirtle straight into the ground, Squirtle groaned out in pain as it landed.
"Gyarados use Iron Tail." Fergus continued.
Gyarados roared as its tail lit up, and it swung it towards the ground.
Ash's eyes widen as he yelled out, "Dig."
Squirtle narrowly avoided being hit by the tail, as it managed to burrow itself into the ground. However, the force of the Iron Tail cracked the ground as Squirtle was launched out of the earth. Now that Squirtle was exposed Gyarados unleashed another burst of electricity that struck the turtle. Squirtle cried out in pain, as it shocked and electricity cackled across it body. Squirtle landed on the ground with a thud, but it was determined to keep fighting. Squirtle managed to get back on its feet.
"Yah, way to go Squirtle…." Ash began, only to be shock when Squirtle collapsed onto the ground.
"Squirtle is unable to battle Gyarados wins."
The ref signaled.
"Well Squirtle had spirit it was not enough to overcome Gyarados." The announcer commented.
Ash sighed as he returned Squirtle thanking it for his determination, to win and work. Looking back at Gyarados he knew he had one option left. Turning his head to face his partner, he nodded to Pikachu, who nodded back. Pikachu leaped off of Ash's shoulder and landed on all fours as his cheeks sparked.
"Pika Pika!" Pikachu squeaked. He was going to avenge Squirtle.
"Pikachu vs Gyarados begin." The ref stated.
"Pikachu use Agility." Ash began.
"Pika!' Pikachu squeak as it darted forwards as a pink aura appeared around Pikachu and its speed increased.
"Gyarados use Flamethrower." Fergus called out.
"Gyrrr…." Gyarados roared as it unleashed a torrent of flames.
Pikachu weaved around the flames, as it looked for a spot to attack.
"Pikachu Thunderbolt!" Ash ordered.
Pikachu came to a stop, as his unleashed a blast of electricity. This caused Gyarados to roar in pain, as it was shocked. After a bit the attack weakened as Gyarados broke out of it, and turn around to look at Pikachu. However, Pikachu disappeared by the time Gyarados looked, as this time was several meters away.
"Now use Thunder." Ash continued.
Releasing an even larger amount of electricity Gyarados was hit causing even greater damage than before.
"Gyarados use Iron Tail on the ground!" Fergus retaliated.
"Gyrrrr!" Gyarados fought through the pain as it slammed it tail on the ground. The shockwaves shock the earth, as Pikachu was landed into the air.
"Gyarados use Hyper Beam." Fergus yelled out.
"Pikachu Double Team!" Ash countered.
While it was in the air, Pikachu created several copies just in time as the Hyper Beam was fired off. The Hyper Beam managed to destroy all the clones, but the real Pikachu narrowly avoided the hit. Pikachu safely landed on the ground as it glared at Gyarados who glared back.
"Pikachu hit it with another Thunder." Ash continued.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu n said, unleashing the high voltage.
Pikachu didn't let up, as it continued to shock Gyarados. Knowing he didn't have long till Gyarados could move again he wanted to does as much damage as possible. Once Gyarados was showing signs of being able to move again, Ash had Pikachu switch over to Agility. Pikachu ran around Gyarados again at lightning speed, tired of try to keep track of its opponent's movements, Fergus had Gyarados to use Earthquake. Gyarados rose its tail, and was preparing to slam it tail on the ground.
"Pikachu use Quick Attack then Volt Tackle." Ash retaliated.
Pikachu sprinted forward, and soon was encased in electricity. Just before Gyarados's tail slammed the ground, Pikachu leaped into the air before striking Gyarados's midsection. Gyarados topped over kicking a large amount of dust, and when it cleared, Gyarados could no longer continue.
"Gyarados is unable to battle, Pikachu wins." The ref announced.
"After a fierce battle Pikachu emerged victorious, and now with Ash defeating 3 of Fergus's Pokémon we will now take a brief 10 min intermission." The announcer stated as Fergus returned Gyarados.
The Pikachu jumped onto Ash's shoulder, as the two trainers headed back to their waiting areas.
"This battle is intense." Ash stated wiping the sweat off his forehead, taking a seat next to Brock and Misty.
"Yes, but you're doing well." Brock praised.
"Yah, plus this will get ready for the Pokémon League." Misty added.
"I guess you're right." Ash agreed.
"Toge priii!" Togepi cheerfully chirped.
The next minutes went by quickly as Ash talked strategy. Currently he knew one of Fergus Pokémon, a Dodrio. However, Ash was in a ruff spot as well as Ash had his Gengar, Bulbasaur and Pikachu revealed. Since Ash had more Pokémon he would be the one to release his Pokémon first. He decided to send out Gengar again.
Seeing Gengar make a return, Fergus once again released Dodrio. Dodrio cawed at Gengar, who responded with a cackle. The ref single for the match to continue, and both trainers wasted no time.
"Dark Pulse/Aerial Ace!" Both trainer shouted.
Gengar fired the purple ring, as Dodrio sprinted forward. Dodrio disappeared as the Dark Pulse struck the ground creating a trench into the ground. Dodrio reappeared as it rammed into Gengar sending him flying. Gengar managed to regain control in the air, Ash told him to use Psychic. Fergus told Dodrio to defend with Quick Attack. Dodrio moved around the ring at such high speeds, that Gengar couldn't keep up with it. Dodrio suddenly multiplied as they group jumped towards Gengar. Gengar fought back as fired a Dazzling Gleam that wiped out the Double Team, however the real Dodrio broke through and smashed into Gengar with a Drill Peck.
Gengar was slammed into the ground with Dodrio looking down on it. Gengar glared at Dodrio as it fired a Dark Pulse, forcing the bird back. Gengar then cloaked with ice energy as it smashed the Ice Punch, causing the three-headed bird to caw in pain. Gengar then used the opportunity to fired several balls of light. Dodrio was struck as it began striking its head on the ground as it was confused. Not liking the way, the momentum was going, Fergus returned Dodrio before releasing a Golduck.
The fight resumed as Golduck managed to get ahold of Gengar with its own Psychic. Gengar struggled to get out of Golduck's grasp as flung. Golduck fired Hydro Pump towards Gengar. Gengar was slammed with the high pressurized water, and crash into the wall. Gengar collapsed, causing the ref to run up to Gengar. After checking on Gengar the ref made the call.
"Gengar is unable to battle, Golduck wins." The ref stated.
The crowd cheered as Ash return the powerful ghost. He thanked Gengar for a valiant effort, before releasing his Bulbasaur.
"Bulbasaur." Bulbasaur grunted as it was released.
The battle continued as Ash had Bulbasaur use Magical Leaf to start with. As Bulbasaur sent out several leaves, Golduck's eyes glowed pink as its used its Psychic to redirect the leaves back to Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur used its Vine Whip in order to deflect the leaves. Using the opportunity Golduck created a purple beam of psychic energy, as fired it. Seeing Bulbasaur couldn't dodge in time, as told Bulbasaur to use Vine Whip on the ground.
Slamming the vines on the ground, Bulbasaur launched itself into the air. Once in the air Bulbasaur fired a seed from its bulb that wrapped itself around Golduck. Golduck groaned as the Leech Seed zapped its strength. Bulbasaur then fired several seeds from itself mouth as they struck Golduck. Golduck winced a bit, before being zapped again buy the Leech Seed. Golduck then retaliated by firing an Ice Beam, on the ground. The ground froze, and Bulbasaur struggled to stay standing. Golduck then fired another Psyshock only for Bulbasaur to avoid the attack by jumping using its vines again. However, Fergus smirked as he yelled out Psychic. Ash's widen as he realized he fell for Fergus trap. Bulbasaur was slammed into the ground, before flung into a wall. Bulbasaur struggled to get back up, as Golduck winced again from another zap. Once it recovered from the Leech Seed zap, Golduck slid forwards on the ice as its fired an Ice Beam towards Bulbasaur.
Bulbasaur managed to maneuver itself out of the way, and avoided the attack. Only to get struck by a Zen Headbutt from Golduck. Bulbasaur to counter in midair, by firing a green orb. Golduck landed on its back, after being struck by an Energy Ball. Bulbasaur landed on the ground, and he gritted his teeth as he struggled to get up. Golduck tried to get up only to fall as the Leech Seed struck.
"Bulbasaur try to get up, and us Solar Beam." Ash pleaded, knowing Bulbasaur couldn't take much more.
"Bulba." Bulbasaur grunted as he was struggling to get up.
"Golduck use Psyshock." Fergus called out.
Bulbasaur managed to get up, and began absorbing sunlight. Golduck also managed to get as it gather psychic energy. Once he felt he had enough, Golduck fired the Psyshock towards Bulbasaur. As the beam got closer, Bulbasaur had to fire the Solar Beam prematurely. The two attacks collided as struggled to overpower the other for a time. Then the two attacks exploded as smoke covered the area around Bulbasaur who was close to the blast.
"Bulbasaur!" Ash yelled out in concern.
Once the smoke cleared Bulbasaur on the floor out cold.
"Bulbasaur is unable to battle, Golduck wins." The ref announced as Bulbasaur's image went dark.
The announcer continued to talk, as the crowd cheered, while Ash returned Bulbasaur thanking him for his hard work. Ash frowned, Fergus managed to turn things around in his favor. However, looking at Golduck it didn't seem to have much left in the tank. And Gengar managed to do major damaged to Dodrio. Pikachu had a type advantage over both of them, but then there was Fergus's last Pokémon. Neither trainer knew what the final Pokémon for the other side. He needed to take out Golduck now since its Psychic attack could cause trouble.
Looking at Pikachu, Ash nodded causing Pikachu to nod as well. He then hopped off of Ash's shoulder and took his stance.
"Pikachu vs Golduck began." The ref announced.
Pikachu Quick Attack into Dig!" Ash began.
"Golduck use Psychic to stop it." Fergus retaliated.
Golduck's eyes glowed at it attempted to get a hold of Pikachu. Hollow Pikachu made a quick dash before burrowing underground, avoiding Golduck's attack.
"Thunder!" Ash yelled out.
The ground cracked underneath Golduck, as golden light shined through the cracks then Golduck was struck by high amounts of electricity as it suffered a painful shock. Golduck cried out in pain, before collapsing.
"Golduck is unable to battle Pikachu wins." The ref called out.
"And once again these trainers are even, after taking out Bulbasaur and Gengar, Golduck didn't have enough strength to defeat Pikachu." The announcer stated, as the crowd went wild.
Fergus returned Golduck with a sigh, and thank it for its hard work. Grabbing his next choice, he released a large, blue, bipedal Pokémon. It had a blunt snot, brown eyes and large round ears.
"Nidoqueen." Ash stated surprised, as he pulled out his Pokédex.
Nidoqueen, the Drill Pokémon and the evolved form of Nidorina. Nidoqueen has think skin covering its entire body, protecting it from whatever techniques used against it.
'This is bad." Ash thought. Nidoqueen is a Ground and Poison type, meaning it had the advantage over his last two Pokémon. He was about to recall Pikachu, when Pikachu looked back at him, and nodded. Ash knew what Pikachu wanted as nodded back.
"Nidoqueen vs Pikachu begin." The ref announced.
"Nidoqueen use Earthquake." Fergus began with a strong attack.
"Pikachu use Quick Attack, then jump and use Iron Tail." Ash retaliated.
Pikachu built up speed as it sprinted forward, before leaping into the air, as the ground shook. Pikachu's tail glowed as he was ready to strike Nidoqueen.
"Nidoqueen counter that with Ice Punch!" Fergus called out.
Ice began covering Nidoqueen's right fist, as it collided with the Iron Tail. The two attacks collided as two tried to overpower the other. Eventually due to Nidoqueen greater power, she overwhelmed the Pikachu. Pikachu flew back, before managing to land on his feet, and glaring at Nidoqueen.
"Earth Power." Fergus continued.
Nidoqueen smashed his fist into the ground as Ash had Pikachu run around the attack. Once it missed Ash retaliated by having Pikachu use Surf. Pikachu summoned a huge wave surprising everyone. Pikachu then headed towards Nidoqueen while riding the huge wave.
Seeing Pikachu riding the large wave, Fergus could help but grin, before ordering Nidoqueen to use Stone Edge to split the wave apart. Smashing her fist into the ground, Nidoqueen sent several large pillars of stones towards the wave. Stone Edge slammed into the middle of the wave, splitting the wave up in half, and knocking Pikachu off the wave. Pikachu fell towards the ground, as Nidoqueen ran forwards with its fist covered in flames.
"Pikachu use Grass Knot, then Iron Tail!" Ash called out.
Pikachu's eyes glowed green, and two blades of grass grew from the ground. It then wraps around Nidoqueen's foot, causing her trip, and hit the ground hard. Using the opportunity and fall to his advantage Pikachu landed a powerful Iron Tail to Nidoqueen's head. Nidoqueen roared in pain, as Pikachu put some distance between them.
Nidoqueen didn't take long to get up, as it slammed its foot on the ground for another Earthquake. Pikachu leaped out of the way again like before, but as he was in the air, Nidoqueen fired a torrent of flames knocking Pikachu out of the air. Pikachu landed hard on the ground as he groaned in pain.
"Nidoqueen use Sludge Wave." Fergus continued.
A poison ooze surround Nidoqueen before, being fired towards Pikachu. Seeing the attack incoming, Ash had Pikachu block it with Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt managed to hold the attack back, as the two caused a small explosion. Suddenly an Ice Beam was shot through smoke, as struck Pikachu encasing Pikachu in ice.
"Pikachu quick you got to break out of there." Ash pleaded.
"Finish it with Drill Run." Fergus called out.
Nidoqueen's horn grew as its began spinning as Nidoqueen ran forward. She slammed into Pikachu breaking the ice, causing Pikachu to land on its back with swirls into its eyes.
"Pikachu is unable to battle Nidoqueen wins." The ref stated.
Ash ran up to Pikachu, carefully picking up, and caring him back. Pikachu woke up, and gave Ash a weak "Pika."
"Hey don't give me that, you did a great job." Ash said, before placing Pikachu on the ground next to him.
Grabbing his last Pokémon, as called out his final pick.
"Primeape, I choose you!" Ash said.
"Primeape!" Primeape said, as he punched the air.
"Primeape vs Nidoqueen, begin!" The ref called out.
"Primeape use Earthquake!" Ash shouted.
"Nidoqueen you use Earthquake too!" Fergus also shouted.
The two slammed their foot in the ground causing the earth to shake. The attacks collided canceling the other out. Primeape then spirited forward, as Nidoqueen did the same.
"Nidoqueen Poison Jab!" Fergus continued.
"Primeape use Ice Punch!" Ash called out.
Primeape moved out of the way to avoid the Poison Jab before slamming its fist into Nidoqueen. Nidoqueen roared in pain as she stumbled back, with a groan.
"Primeape use Low Sweep!" Ash continued.
Primeape ran forward before sweeping its leg kicking Nidoqueen's leg. Nidoqueen roared in pain, as she felt her leg begin to bruise. Not waiting to let up, Primeape then struck Cross Chop. Nidoqueen stumbled back, began rebalancing itself. Nidoqueen fired a Flamethrower towards Primeape. Seeing the attack Primeape countered with a Thunderbolt to block the attack. The two attack collided creating another explosion and smoke to cover the field. A sludge Wave suddenly broke through the smoke, however unbeknownst Fergus Primeape have avoided the attack. When the smoke cleared Fergus was shocked Primeape was nowhere in sight.
Suddenly the ground burst open as Primeape struck Nidoqueen with another Ice Punch. Nidoqueen was knocked out cold and on her back.
"Nidoqueen is unable to battle." The ref announced.
Everyone cheered as Fergus returned Nidoqueen thanking her. Grabbing Dodrio's Pokéball he released the bird as it still looked tired. Knowing Dodrio wasn't going to last long he decided to go for broke.
"Dodrio vs Primeape begin." The ref began the final match.
"Dodrio use Brave Bird!" Fergus shouted.
Dodrio blitz forwards as it was covered in blue flames before slamming into Primeape before he could react. Primeape was launched as Dodrio was wincing as it suffered recoil.
"Primeape Counter!" Primeape's eyes glowed red as it landed on the ground before running towards Dodrio, and striking it hard.
Dodrio crashed onto the ground as it knocked out from ending the battle.
"Dodrio is unable to battle, Primeape wins and the winner is Ash from Pallet Town." The ref announced.
"It was a long hard fought battle, but in the end the young trainer Ash came out on top." The announcer stated as the crowd cheered.
Ash went up to thank Primeape, as Fergus returned Dodrio and thanked it for its hard work. Fergus then walked up to Ash, and stared down the trainer before offering his hand.
"That was a great battle Ash, you deserved the win." Fergus stated with a grin.
Ash smiled as he shook Fergus's hand, causing crowd to cheer wider. Fergus then promised Ash to battle him again someday and that battle would be even tougher with him winning. Ash smiled and accepted the challenged. With the battle over, the mayor of the city came out to congratulate Ash before present him with his prize. The egg was mostly white, with a black spot on the top of the egg. Ash smiled and thanked the mayor for the egg. As he looked at the egg he couldn't help but wonder what was inside the egg.
Alright the tournament's finally over, now will be headed to Cerulean City next. Feel Free to guess what's in the egg, but I will neither confirm nor deny what in the egg. Sorry it the ending felt a little rush but I really wanted to finish the chapter.
