Chapter 1: Melanie Day & Drea May

They watched her corpse bleeding out on the ground, void of life and energy. Melanie grabbed her twin sister's hand, squeezing it, before pulling her along.

They had to escape from there right now, or they would be next. Drea May grabbed their survival bags from the open space under the stairs and the two of them ran out the side door, never looking back.

The all-out sprint the twins had broken into lasted them about 15 minutes until their stamina began to diminish, and they had to come to a stop. Shit, when was the last time they ran like this?

Melanie Day fished through her bag for the old photo, corners bent, and the color wasting away. The blood on her hands stained the edges as she tried to hold it steady. How long had she been shaking for?

Those stoic faces were as clear as day. The man and his teenage sons were all standing straight up, elbows touching. They stood in front of a black car with a sleek exterior and glossy shine.

These men were family members of the twins. John Winchester, the father that they would never know due to his passing, and his three sons. One was named Sam, one named Adam, and the other Dean but neither girl knew who was who.

Looking ahead, Drea noticed that the terrain changed from smooth, asphalt roads to gravel and dirt. The brightly lit sign in front of her read 'Diner of Lebanon', and she was relieved.

It didn't matter where they were, just as long as they were safe and could rest their legs. Entering the restaurant, neither one knew what they were doing, but they both decided to try their best.

Inside there were families and couples, laughing, talking, and enjoying themselves and it gave the girls the hint that this was a popular place for it being a Thursday night.

"Hi there," the waitress greeted them, trying to ignore the blood-stains and their wounds, "booth or table?"

Mel usually did most of the talking because Drea 'spent too much time in her thoughts', or at least that's what Mel said. But Drea was still feeling the adrenaline and took the chance to speak.

That woman was officially deceased; this was their new life, their opportunity to be who they wanted. A glance at the waitress's uniform allowed Drea the knowledge of her name.

"Booth please, Lily." She said, offering a small smile and the red-haired lady beamed in return and led them to a spot. Melanie put her bag on the seat facing the door and Drea scooched in on the other side.

"Okay so, order for me and I'm going to the bar area to ask if anyone knows the Winchesters." Drea didn't bother trying to stop her, even though she didn't think it was smart for her to roam the crowded place alone.

She ordered them both sprites, herself a turkey burger platter, and Melanie the cheeseburger one.

In Mel's eyes, being nine and a half minutes older made her the big sister and Drea just had to deal with it. She tried her best to look between people and keep her eyes trained on Mel but it was no use.

So she sat, humming to "You Shook Me All Night Long" and drumming her fingers on the freshly polished wooden table. It was a great song and it took a lot of her willpower to not jump up and start dancing to it.

Melanie slipped back in the booth when the chorus came the second time, and Drea heard her singing it as well. Music was a passion for both girls, an escape from their life, and they constantly fought over their half-broken iPod.

"Any news?" Drea asked, eager to see if anyone heard of their family. Mel lowered her voice and Drea almost couldn't hear it with everything that was going on.

She leaned in, "Only one person that I asked knew a little about them. The man, Jaden, said he ran into our brothers at the bar down the block a few times. He told me they exchanged pleasantries and knew each other's names, but that's pretty much it."

Drea sighed, what type of men were the Winchesters that they weren't well known? She could tell that Mel was thinking the same thing. She always used to dream of being rescued by her family, stolen from the harsh woman they called mother.

In dreams they were superheroes, showing up to save the day and slay the evil queen. It was disappointing that it never happened but in a perfect world their father would still be alive, and they would never be separated in the first place.

"So should we head over to that bar down the street? The only thing is we might not be able to get in if they check cards…" Drea trailed off, thinking of ways they could be granted entrance.

"Don't worry Dre, we'll figure that part out when we get there. For now, let's eat!" Those words were music to her ears and they both dug in, unintentionally stuffing their faces.

It's the most they both had access to eat in years, and neither planned on wasting a crumb. Mel stopping mid-bite caught Dre's attention and she turned around to follow her gaze.

Two men walked through the doors and into the diner, both seemed to be a foot taller than the two of them and were greeted by Lily.

"Hey, Dean...Sam." She nodded to both and started to lead them to a booth.

The girls were about to lose their minds. No way would their brothers who didn't even know they existed be here!

Their appearances told them everything that they needed to know. These were no doubt sons of John Winchester, and did the twins resemble them?

Drea was gonna say something, but Mel got up and started walking their way. Drea jumped up and followed as quickly as she could, almost jogging to catch her.

"Excuse me, Sam and Dean Winchester?" She asked, both of them twiddling their fingers, a habit.

The guys were less intimidating since they were sitting down, but the glares they held were murderous.

"Who the hell's asking?" The shorter one, they didn't know if it was Sam or Dean, said.

Drea wasn't sure what they should do next.

Should they say that they're his daughters and show them the photo or would that be too weird?

She didn't have much time to think before her sister continued, "I'm Melanie and this is Drea. We're John Winchester's daughters."

Welp, there goes that choice.

The taller one choked on his salad and the other one's eyes almost popped out of the sockets.

"Please, sit with us." The taller one said, blowing a loose piece of shaggy hair out of his face.

He got up and sat next to his brother, allowing Mel to slide into the booth close to the window with Dre right next to her. Neither twin missed the look the boys shared, almost like a silent conversation.

The shorter one told them that his name was Dean and his brother was Sam. Drea studied their appearances more in-depth and knew they had to be related.

Sam and she both had those indecisive hazel eyes. One day the green would be the most prominent but on others, there would be blue, gray, brown...it would be like she was a new person. And like she thought she saw before, Mel and Dean had those same sharp green colored ones.

Mel slid the photograph across the table, the dried blood crusting up the edges, and she watched their faces. Sam and Dean were having a 'holy shit' moment.

They knew their Dad got around sometimes during hunts, but what was with the creating children part of it. Sam studied the girls in front of him, complexions aside, they were spitting images of the boys.

"Our mother...um, her name was Selania. We-well, she tended to keep us hidden. She was cruel to us, but she said she loved our father a lot." Drea stopped drumming her fingers and looked up, being met with kind eyes from both boys that persuaded her to continue. "I'm guessing not being with him, but having daily reminders of him drove her mad."

She swallowed hard, wiped the unshed tears from her eyes, and sighed. Melanie grabbed her sister's hand, gave her a reassuring squeeze, and Lily brought their plates and drinks over from the booth they previously abandoned.

Mel thanked her for both of them and they finished up their food, talking about small things from there.

The guys seemed more pleasant when they found out they were related, but Drea didn't just wanna blurt out everything else about them as Mel did. She almost spit out her sprite when Sam suggested the girls go back home with them.

He couldn't be serious, right? Sure they had no place to stay, but wasn't this too much too fast?

Mel seemed to be excited, but Drea was still wary...sure they looked the same, and they were the sons of her father, but the twins didn't know them enough to go to their house.

Drea jabbed Mel with her elbow and eyed her, making sure she knew Drea thought it was a bad idea. Like always, she ignored her and agreed that they would go with them.

Drea quickly excused them from the table and dragged Mel with her to the restroom.

"What are you fucking thinking, you idiot?!" She was enraged that Melanie purposefully brushed off her concern.

"Listen, once we pay for our meals we won't have the funds to survive!" Mel was trying to take deep breaths. "This way we can learn about our family, and hopefully have a place to live. Don't you want that?"

She was so okay with this and it drove Drea crazy. Their mother's body was barely cold and they were gonna follow their look-alikes to lord knows where?

"How do we know we can trust them, huh?" Drea felt her body heating up to match her anger and it had one target, Mel.

"Just because we share faces with them doesn't mean they're safe! They could be fucking murderers waiting to slice the hell outta us!" She spat, sure it wasn't the most reasonable theory, but it was close enough.

"Calm the fuck down, okay? We have been waiting for this moment for our whole lives. Just try to enjoy it because we're going with them, and that's final." Mel's voice wasn't as loud now, the tone harder.

This was the one she used when she meant business. All Drea could do was stomp in the stall and slam the door shut. She had to pee and she was angrier than before.

Why did Melanie always have to be in charge?

When the younger twin finally returned to the booth, the conversation came to a halt and she knew the fuckers were talking about her. She just stood there, arms crossed, waiting for Mel to pass her bag and for the boys to get up.

Following them to their awesome-looking car, Drea kept her mouth shut about how beautiful and well-kept it still seemed after all these years. She secretly eyed the guys as much as she could, trying to catch anything that may be off about them.

Disregarding the antics of her twin, Mel asked how long the drive would be and Dean said two hours. After a while, Drea's eyelids started to get heavier and before she knew it, she had drifted off.

Drea woke to Mel shaking her a little and she was gonna ignore her until she saw her wide eyes. This made her look around to try and see what had Melanie so stunned.

Dean was taking turn after turn until they arrived in a garage area. The cars there looked like they were maintained perfectly, which shouldn't have been so surprising considering the one they were in.

Maybe their new brothers were superheroes and obviously, this was their bat cave. She didn't know exactly what they did, but the way Dean's phone was pinging indicated that they were pretty important people. If they didn't say it, the twins would ask what they do for a living.

Melanie picked up on how many alerts he was getting, too, but her current thoughts were stuck on this "other brother" that they had. Was he as chill and badass as they seemed to be, or would he be a complete prick?

Dean and Sam led the girls inside the marvelous building and into an open room that almost made them scream. The library was beyond anything either of them had ever dreamed of seeing in a place where someone lived!

However, when Dean said, "Do you like what ya see?", Drea masked her astonishment as best as she could and shrugged.

On the other hand, Mel nodded as if Dean presented her with a newborn puppy and gave her sister a shove to keep moving forward.

Taking their seats at the tables in the library, Sam came back with a worn leather journal in his hands. Even though it seemed to be heavily used, it wasn't peeling like the one in Drea's bag that she had since her fifth birthday.

"Wow, the three of you have this whole building to yourselves?" Mel asked, astonishment clear in her voice. She could already tell that the place was huge.

"Yeah, Dean and I live here with Adam, our other brother." Sam paused, scratching the back of his neck, "It's pretty far from town though, so it's not all that great."

The twins knew he just wasn't trying to brag, and they appreciated it. They didn't come from much and Sam kept that in mind.

By this time, Adam had joined them and took a seat, flashing them a half-smile. The twins grinned back and introduced themselves. It took Adam everything in him not to stare, jeez they looked so much like his brothers.

Grunting, Dean continued straight to business as he bombarded the girls with questions while Sam hastily flipped through the journal entries. John had always indicated Selania with a singular "S". However, he only mentioned meeting up with her a handful of times.

One day though, they just stopped. Late February, there was no S...and no more after that.

"Girls...when's your birthday?" Sam asked, cutting off Dean and his ridiculous interrogation of them.

Melanie told him that they were born on November 23rd, but she was ten minutes older, making her the big sister. Sam didn't miss Drea's eye roll, accompanied by a correction that it was 9 ½ minutes and not 10.

The dates added up though, and after a quick computer search, he had all the confirmation he needed as far as the girls being his sisters. Selania and John must have had a falling out after she found out she was pregnant.

Dean looked to Sam after he heard his short sigh and they communicated with no words again. To them and even Adam, the conversation was clear...the girls sitting in front of them, no doubt about it, were their little sisters.

Leave it to John to hide these children from them.

Sammy had given Adam a heads-up text beforehand indicating that they possibly had twin sisters and he honestly thought it was a prank, but seeing them and listening to this discussion was enough.

The older twin had Dean's eyes, dark olive skin, and wavy hair that stopped mid-back. She was smiling a lot, but Adam saw that it never quite seemed to reach her eyes. The younger twin had the same eyes as Sam's, her skin was a chestnut tone, and her curls were tightly coiled and defined.

They were fraternal, so at least they didn't need to worry about getting them mixed up.

The twins were a little confused about how the boys seemed to do silent communication better than they could. Then, they confirmed out loud that the girls were indeed their family. The five siblings attempted to lighten up their conversation, getting to know each other by playing 20 questions.
