Sam is in her quarters listening to the song that jack had composed for her as an anniversary present (1 year of being together, on military terms of coarse) and she suddenly found herself drifting in and out of sleep.
As she drifted into a dream all she saw was black everywhere she looked so she began to shout out "Jack, Jack where are you I can't see anything" and very suddenly she felt this immense pain in the pit of her stomach like something was trying to force it's way out of her !
All she could think of was this pain but it was still black all around, until suddenly she heard someone calling her name it sounded like Janet but she couldn't quite make it out so she began to move towards the voice, and the closer she got the better she could hear it but the pain in her stomach also got worse and almost unbearable until finally she could see again.
She was blinded by the lights of the infirmary and there standing in front of her was Janet, to her left Jack and right Cassandra. "What's going on?" she asked "What's going on Sam is you're having a baby!" Janet exclaimed looking totally confused "our baby Sam, you're having our baby" Jack looked at her lovingly and then moved in closer to kiss her on the forehead,
"Ok Sam you're almost there just one more BIG push and you'll have a baby in your arms" Sam was bewildered and confused but still she gave it all her strength and finally the baby was born "Darling it's a Girl, we have a baby girl" Jack looked at her with a very proud but surprised look on his face "Would Dad like to cut the cord?" Janet smiled and handed the scissors to Jack; Jack took them and cut the cord.
Sam couldn't believe what was going on she had just given birth to a child she never even knew she was carrying, what was she to do!
She looked over to her right and she saw Jack holding the baby in his arms with tears running down his cheeks, he looked at her smiled and mouthed "I love you so much" she replied "I love you to"
Jack brought the baby over to Sam and put her in her arms.
Sam couldn't believe it, she was a mum!
"What are you gonna call her?" Janet asked, Sam looked up at Jack "I've always loved Stacey" Jack smiled as he said "Stacey O'Neil, it has a nice ring to it, Stacey it is".
They both looked down at their newly named daughter Stacey, she lay happily in her mum's arms fast asleep and with that Jack turned to Sam and said "you're a natural"
Suddenly Sam was woken up by the sound of jack calling her name
"Sam, Sam you ok?"
"Sir oh god yeah I must have dosed off"
"A little sleep never hurt anybody"
"yeah, right, sure"
It was then that she realized what it was that happened after all a dream is a wish your heart makes.
