Kagome refused to back down. "And that's somehow your fault? Naraku had dirt on all of us! You think he wasn't blackmailing his own followers as well?"
His anger only grew, but she could feel the underlying frustration. Her grip on his hand tightened, and she gave him an imploring look.
"Kagura knew. She knew the price for crossing him," she said softly. "She probably saved your mother's life by giving up her own. And if she loved her, she'd do the same thing again if it meant keeping her safe."
