Rent a Girlfriend: Different Beginnings (Short Story) Part 2

Plot:
For Kazuya having a Real Girlfriend that actually cared and loved him was like having a dream come true. Though they both had not said the big "L" Word to each other yet. He in truth had fallen for Chizuru completely. They had been dating for Real for the past two weeks and even with working his Shifts and going to Classes. While she did her Job as a Rental Girlfriend. Her Acting Classes and her College Classes. The two tried to spend as much time together as they could. But then they met someone that could essentially make their happy lives together into a complete disaster. (NO Beach Episode due to that Kazuya could not take that much time off.)
The Blown Secret Maybe:
Falling the two or three feet down onto the padded floor, Kazuya groaned with disappointment in himself. Unlike his Girlfriend who now was hanging about twelve feet from the floor by one hand laughing. He was having problems climbing the Wall even with the hand and foot holds. He glanced over to where thankfully Ruka was having the same problems so he did not feel like a complete idiot. When Chizuru climbed down and joined him she smiled down at him. "Hey don't get discouraged...You got about three feet up before you fell." She said with a small chuckle.
"It is just like when you forced me to go Roller Skating with you." Kazuya grumbled and took her offered hand but instead of having her help him stand up. He pulled her down to sit next to him. She squealed and giggled. When she did, Kazuya noticed Ruka's subtle disapproving frown at them. He shrugged it off. Sitting next to him, Chizuru laid her head on his shoulder and continued to smile.
"This is fun isn't it?" Chizuru asked and Kazuya grumbled again.
"Oh sure. It is a lot of fun spending half the time falling on my butt every couple of minutes. It was the same when we went Rolling Skating. I fall on my butt as my Girlfriend rolls around me laughing at me. Other then that I am having a blast." Kazuya said somewhat sarcastically and Chizuru giggled again. Then he thought about what happened afterwards and he smiled. That had been the first time after they got back to their respective Apartments or rather in front of his. That they kissed. "Still I really like what happened later that day." He commented and Chizuru blushed slightly.
"Me too. The first of many times we did that." Chizuru said and sighed with delight. Sure she really did not want to spend their time together on a Double Date. But she was having a good time regardless.
"You two need to cut down on the cutesy stuff and PDA so much." Kibe said as he and Ruka stepped up to them. Kazuya then saw it again from the Dark Haired girl. The subtle disapproving look. As if they were doing something that she did not approve of for some reason. He chalked it up to that perhaps she and Kibe had not gotten to his and Chizuru's point in their relationship yet and Ruka was jealous.
"You almost forced us to come. You will have to put up with us...Being Cutesy and the PDA." Chizuru said and pressed herself more tightly against Kazuya.
"Can you come with me for a second Chizuru?" Ruka asked and Chizuru shrugged. She stood and then looked down at her Boyfriend.
"Okay...Sure. I will be back soon Kazuya and then I will help you climb up there. Perhaps offer you some incentive if you can make it to the top." Chizuru said seductively and Kazuya made the decision that he would climb this thing or die trying. Once upstairs and heading to the Ladies Room. Ruka dropped the bomb onto her. Asking her if she was a Rental Girlfriend.
"She knows. She knows I am a Rental Girlfriend." Chizuru said to Kazuya who stared at her in shock.
"Oh man this is bad. If Ruka knows then what about Kuri. Though I bet if he knew he would have ridiculed me about it by now. He lacks a lot of tact most of the time." Kazuya said back to her and Chizuru looked nervously over towards where Kuri now stood a good twenty meters away. Far enough away not to hear them. "But she could tell him and then...That big mouth would spread it all over the School within an hour. I have to wonder...Do you think she thinks I am renting you?" He asked and she thought about it for a few moments.
"She could be. Did you notice her expression every time we...Got closer and acted like a couple?" Chizuru asked back and Kazuya nodded. "I have to believe that she thinks that. That you rented me and that I have been lets say bending the rules when I get affectionate with you. She might think it is all an act." By that time Ruka had come down from the Bathroom and Kuri headed up. So Chizuru decided to confront her.
"Kuri told me all about him helping you with that Guy who tried to...force himself into your Apartment. So if you are not a Rental and he is not Renting you. Then let me see you two kiss." Ruka declared and Chizuru gasped and then blushed slightly.
"Right out here in public." Chizuru lightly gestured around indicating several other patrons of the BOULDERING Room. There was at least a dozen others there not more then thirty or forty meters away.
"Sure why not? You two must totally be in love so what is the big deal." Ruka said with a small smirk and Chizuru looked back at Kazuya. Then with a resigned sigh, she stomped towards Kazuya with a determined look in her eyes. With no real hesitation, she leaned closer to Kazuya and kissed him passionately. Ruka gasped loudly. With her hands still on Kazuya's chest, Chizuru leaned back slightly and turned her head towards Ruka. She smiled.
"In truth...Yes I am a Rental Girlfriend. That is my Job and I really do not want anyone to know about it. So please don't tell Kuri. Also in truth...We are really dating. He is really my Real Boyfriend and I am his Real Girlfriend." Chizuru told Ruka who had paled immensely in shock.
Later walking towards the Parking Lot where Kazuya had left his Motorcycle. Chizuru held his left hand in hers. "Do you think Ruka will keep it a secret and not tell Kuri?" He asked and Chizuru inhaled softly.
"She said she would. So yes I think she will keep it a secret. It was a little shocking to learn that she too is a Rental and that Kuri is Renting her." Chizuru had other concerns at the moment. After she had told Ruka the truth. The other girl seemed to be looking at Kazuya differently. A look that made Chizuru a little suspicious and weary. As if Ruka was interested in her Kazuya. That concerned her more then being outed.
Working Day Troubles Maybe:
So far for a Friday it could be considered a Slow Day. With only writing four Traffic Tickets and eight Parking Violations. Kazuya now was idly sitting within one of the School Zones. Mostly for a Police Presence in the area. He was there for a couple of reasons. One was to make sure that the Drivers that were driving within the School Zones kept to the Speed Limit and the other was more important. It had been reported that some of the High School Age Girls were being harassed by some Older Men. So here he was with his Kickstand of his Police Motorcycle down, sitting and watching for both of those reasons and a few minor other ones. He was in no way expecting for three High School Girls in their School Uniforms to approach him until he recognized one of them. "Hey is that you Kazuya?" The familiar voice of Ruka asked and Kazuya removed his Police Issue Helmet and smiled at her.
"Yep. How are you doing Ruka?" Kazuya said and Ruka's two companions giggled gleefully as Ruka returned his smile.
"Good. You know Kuri told me you were a Cop...But I did not really believe him. But here you are." Ruka said and one of her friends poked her. "Oh...Okay hold on a second will ya. This here is Momo Yaoyorozu and this is Mina Ashido. They are friends of mine." She said indicating one and then the other. Kazuya smiled at them both.
"Nice to meet you." Kazuya then looked past them at the Traffic again. After a car slowed down, he returned his attention back towards the three Girls.
"Are you here to stop those perverts from hitting on us all the time?" Mina asked and Kazuya nodded.
"That and to make sure everyone obeys the speed limit and is driving safely." Kazuya said and then looked again over towards the Stop Light. For a brief second it looked like a Small Blue Car was going to run the light. But at the last second the Driver stopped his Car. "I have been assigned to be here everyday around this time just for those reasons." He told them and all three girls smiled. "Well I got to get back to work. It was nice seeing you again Ruka." He put his helmet back on but as the three girls walked away he easily overheard what the three girls were saying to each other and it made him a little embarrassed.
"Oh my Gawd Ruka! He is soo Cute!" Momo said a little to loudly to Ruka who smiled.
"I know right?" Ruka said to her friend and she noticed that Mina was pouting.
"It is so unfair you got to meet him and know him. Why can't I meet a guy like him?" Mina asked still pouting and then Ruka told them the horrible fact.
"Unfortunately...He has a girlfriend." Ruka told them and they both protested. Kazuya overheard the whole conversation until they had crossed the street. He debated whether he should tell Chizuru about this. Then decided it was best he didn't. Remembering what his Sergeant had told him when it involved Girlfriends or Wives.
"Deny everything. It did not happen and I did not overhear what they had said." Kazuya mumbled and then saw three College Age men talking to two High School Girls and from what he could tell the Girls did not like it. Mainly due to that the three Men were partially surrounding the Girls as they stood there with their backs against a nearby Wall. Kicking the foot stand upwards he started his Bike, called for Backup and drove over to the Scene.
Near the End of his Shift, Kazuya spent about two hours monitoring the Main Highway that ran from the Business District to the outskirts. Next to him was a Senior Officer as they watched the oncoming and outgoing traffic. "So how was your Day Rookie?" Tenji Aiwazi asked and Kazuya exhaled with a sigh.
"It was alright. I guess it was just a normal day. Hey Tenji can I ask you something?" Kazuya asked and the other smiled over at him.
"Sure go ahead Kazuya. Is it duty related?" Tenji asked and Kazuya shrugged.
"Well sort of. Today while at my Assigned School Zone...I ran into someone I know and I overheard some things that could...Well make my Girlfriend a little upset. I know Sarg told me that something like that happened I should deny it and pretend it did not happen. But if I do that wouldn't I be lying to Chizuru?" Kazuya asked and Tenji chuckled.
"Your best bet is to heed Sarg's advice and if you do tell Chizuru about it. Play it down big time. I can tell you from experience...Girlfriends and Wives have this sixth sense about things like that and they can get irrationally jealous within a few seconds. So tell her at most that you saw this Girl you know and at most say you talked to her. Nothing more then that." Tenji advised him and then pointed at a Car that was violating operating Laws. The Muffler was dragging on the ground and it had no side mirrors. "Well time to go to work." Turning on their Lights and Siren they went to pull over the Car.
In the Line of Duty:
Tuesday afternoon, Kazuya approached the Small Van carefully. He hated pulling over Vehicles like this. Due to that the back windows were tinted and he could not see inside. As he neared the Drivers side Window. "Sir can I have your Drivers License and Registration Card?" He asked politely.
"Sure Officer." The Man inside said and Kazuya kept a keen eye on where the Drivers hands moved. Then he heard the passenger side door burst open and then he heard the explosions of Gunfire. He felt one of the bullets from the Passenger strike him in the Reinforced Chest Plate and another hit his right shoulder. Both knocking him backwards. At the same time, he pulled out his own Pistol and fired three times in the direction of the shooter. Unsure if he even hit the other man. As he fell back onto the ground and when his head hit the pavement hard. He saw stars and his vision blurred. Then he heard the Van Squeal away. The last thing he did before partially blacking out, he pressed the emergency transponder on his Radio.
Walking casually with Shinbo and Kawanaka, Chizuru chuckled as they again pelted her with questions about her relationship. They wanted implicit details. Mostly if they had gone all the way yet. Which they also wanted all the raunchy details about. When her Cellphone Rang, she looked at the Caller ID and saw that it was Kazuya's Grandmother Nagomi and before she could even say hello. The Elder woman's voice almost yelled through the speaker. "KAZUYA...KAZUYA HAS BEEN SHOT! SOMEONE SHOT MY GRANDSON!" Nagomi said loudly and Chizuru gasped almost dropping her Phone as she panicked. Tears ran down her cheeks as she ran across the Campus towards the nearest Taxi Stop. Asking a flurry of questions over the Phone to his Grandmother.
Arriving a Good Ten minutes before Kazuya's Grandmother and Parents. Chizuru ran into the Hoshgawa Emergency Room. Several Officers were there already and as she neared the Reception Desk. One that she recognized met her there. "It is alright Chizuru...Luckily the Perp shot him in the Vest. Now he did get hurt from when he fell back and hit his head and he got a couple of bruises. But he is fine." Sergeant Tawinaka told her and Chizuru felt faint with relief. That was until an extremely upset and irate Nagomi burst through the doors demanding to know how her Grandson was. Then after finding out he was going to be alright. She demanded to know if the jackass that shot her Grandson has been caught yet and if so. She wanted to beat the man for scaring a good ten years off her life and for having the gull to shoot her Grandson.
Inside one of the Rooms within the Emergency Room, Chizuru clutched Kazuya's left hand tightly in hers as a Doctor rechecked him over. At the same time his Family stood off to one side watching intently. When the doctor left, Nagomi slapped his right foot in frustration. Then proceeded to yell at him in a moderate tone. Though Kazuya barely listened as he looked up from the bed towards Chizuru who he could tell was extremely upset over the whole ordeal. He began to fear that because of this that she was going to break up with him. But he would not inquire until he was alone with her. Believing it would be best if she did that his Family not be there to witness the Break-Up. As soon as his Family left. Chizuru almost tackled him pushing her face into his left shoulder and crying uncontrollably. When she finally was able to control herself enough, she glared down at him.
"You Idiot! How could you make me think...You Idiot! When I heard you...Got Shot! I thought the worse. You Idiot." Chizuru said and continued to call him an idiot for another ten times.
"Are you going to...Are you going to break up with me now?" Kazuya asked wanting it over if she did intend to. She glared down at him and resisted the urge to hit him.
"No you Idiot! Of course not you Idiot! What kind of Idiot would think that I would...No I am not going to break up with you...You Idiot." Chizuru declared and leaned down to kiss him. They parted and he smiled at her.
"Any chance you might stop calling me an Idiot?" Kazuya asked and Chizuru smiled at him.
"Not for a while...You Idiot." Chizuru replied and then kissed him again and continued until a Nurse interrupted them.
Having to spend the night in the Hospital and then having to endure having a Nurse wheel him in a Wheelchair to the Exit. Had Kazuya thinking that it was stupid. He felt fine and what made it worse the Doctor insisted that he wear a sling on his Right Arm to immobilize his right Shoulder. He protested over the fact that sure there was a Softball Sized Bruise there and it hurt really badly. But he was sure that he did not need a Sling. As he neared the exit he saw Chizuru waiting for him. His family was nowhere in sight. "I was able to convince them that I can take care of you until you are better." She told him as the Nurse Wheeled him up to her.
"Thanks. I was thinking that my Grans wanted to yell at me some more." Kazuya said as the Nurse helped him stand up. Then Chizuru walked with him towards where a Patrol Car waited. In the back of the Patrol Car, she sat next to him holding his left hand tightly in her hand.
"Hey Kazuya...Thought you would like to know. We caught that Perp that shot you. Stupid moron tried to deny it...But your Bike's Cam caught the whole thing including when he opened up on you." The Officer that was driving told him.
"You know what sucks. Even with the Video and the fact that you did not even hit that moron. The Board still wants to have a hearing." The other Officer that sat in the passenger seat said and Chizuru looked over at Kazuya confused.
"Each time we fire our Weapons in the line of Duty. We have to go to a hearing in front of the Oversight Board. Make sure that it was a legal shoot. Until then I am on suspension. Though that isn't too bad since the Doctor put me on Medical Leave for the next two weeks." Kazuya told her and Chizuru grimaced.
"So you have to go to a Hearing and prove that you did not do anything wrong. That is not right." Chizuru stated and all three of the Cops in the car agreed. Back at the Apartment Building, she walked slowly with Kazuya up to his door. Then used his Keys to open the door. While Kazuya rested on his Futon, she made Lunch in his Kitchen. She had already told him that she was going to take care of him until he could move his Right Arm or bend over without wincing from pain. She exhaled with a sigh of relief that was all that had happened to him after being shot. She did not want to think what it could have occurred. Such as if he had died or gotten hurt worse then just a couple of bruises and a bump on the back of his head. When his Apartment Door buzzer rang, she went to answer it. Peering out the peephole to see Mami outside. Glancing over she noticed that he was asleep. So she opened the door silently and eased out. "What do you want?" She asked sternly and Mami smiled sweetly at her.
Visitors Unwanted and Wanted:
"Kibe just told me what happened. He said that Kazu had been shot. Is he alright?" Mami asked and Chizuru slowly nodded.
"Yes he is fine. He is inside resting right now." Chizuru told her and Mami continued to smile.
"Oh that is a relief." Mami said and Chizuru stood there with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
"So what are you doing here? You broke up with him about six months ago and now you show up pretending to be concerned. Why?" Chizuru asked and Mami stopped smiling.
"When I heard what happened. I just wanted to make sure that Kazu is alright. That he did not get seriously hurt." Mami said and then smiled again.
"He is fine and I am here to take care of him until he feels better. That is what a Real Girlfriend does for the Man she is in love with. Not dump him after a month the way you did. Now I have to get back to making him Lunch." Chizuru stated and was about to go back inside. Mami made no move to leave.
"Okay. Well can you tell him I stopped by and if he wants to talk to me...I will unblock him from calling me." Mami said and Chizuru shook her head.
"Don't count on him calling you. Not if I have anything to say about it. He is mine now. You had your chance and you blew it." Chizuru silently said and then nodded. "I will." She then went back inside and locked the door. The next ones to visit was Kibe, Kuri and what was a surprise Ruka. Though Chizuru suspected that Ruka while on a Rental Date with Kuri asked to come by to check on Kazuya. While they were there Kazuya was awake from his short nap. So he reassured them all that he was fine and that in a week or so the pains and bruises of being shot in the Vest would be gone. They left a good half hour later and Chizuru now sat next to him at his low table. She leaned her head onto his left shoulder. Then gave his left hand a gentle squeeze. "Kazuya...Please don't ever...Don't let something like this happen again. I want...I want to have a future with you." She told him softly and Kazuya smiled at her.
"I want that future too...So I will try not to worry you." Kazuya told her and Chizuru leaned closer and kissed him. Then she smiled.
"Oh by the way...my Grandmother called while you were napping. She wants to yell at you too." Chizuru said and Kazuya exhaled with a sigh. He still suspected his own Grandmother planned on yelling at him again. Now he had to endure having Chizuru's wanting to yell at him too. That was something he was not looking forward to.
Suspension and Medical Leave:
Walking with Chizuru across the Campus towards where they both had Separate Classes. Kazuya still wore the Sling. So he had to hold her hand in his left hand rather then his right. "So later is when you have to attend that Hearing? Will it be alright?" Chizuru asked with concern and Kazuya smiled at her.
"It will be fine. It was a legal shoot and the Hearing is more of a Formality. Just to make sure the video and my Statement is accurate and all the T's are crossed and the I's Doted." Kazuya told her and she sighed with relief. She did not want him to get hurt again. But she did not want him to give up being a Police Officer. She knew he loved his Job and she was not about to make him choose between being a Cop and her. Not that she would do that.
"Can we go out later? After you get back?" Chizuru asked and Kazuya nodded. "Good. Then I will see you later." As Kazuya was about to leave, she clasped his left hand stopping him. "Oh and Kazuya." He looked back at her. She smiled warmly at him. "I love you." Then she blushed a deep shade of red and quickly released his hand and rushed off before she felt even more embarrassed.
"I love you too." Kazuya yelled after her and she turned and smiled back at him. Then not caring who saw her. She blew him a kiss and then walked towards her class with a renewed spring in her step.
