Chapter 5 And So it Begins
People gathered in groups for the haunted tour
To see what the party hosts have in store
Mickey was able to lower his defence
He's with his friends, he's forgotten why he was so tense
The gang followed Mark and Camilla towards the door
Unaware there was something sneaking around below the floor…
Underneath the ballroom, something was crawling in the vents. It stopped when the music started playing and the hosts were giving their speech.
"Better hurry." He thought teleported to another location.
He looked around to find a grate nearby. He walked over and looked out. The hosts were in the middle of the speech. He almost blushed when they mention his name.
"So they know me." He said quietly to himself. "What they don't know is that they're doomed."
He sat down and watched the performance. Waiting for the right moment to make his next move. He tensed up when he felt he was being watched.
"Are you in position?"
"Yes, master."
"Good, proceed with the next stage."
"I will"
Mickey and the gang followed Mark and Camilla towards the stage. Unable to wait to see what's in store for them. He didn't want to be here at first but he was with his friends and nothing bad has happened. Not counting what happened on the way here. Camilla
/broke away to lead one group while Mark stayed with Mickey's. Once Camilla's group moved forward, Mark's followed. Camilla led the group to the door of the set made to look like the Tower of Terror in Japan. Once they were inside, Mark led his group
/towards the door. Mickey took the time to look at the set and the special effects. Realistic green lightning travelling from the top floor to the ground floor on both sides, stone and wooden walls, it was like it was made by one of the set designers
/at the studio. They really went all out of they wanted an authentic look, even if it's for one night.
The gang walked through the door into a torch lite hallway. Casting an eerie glow. Mickey stopped when he noticed his girlfriend was falling behind. He stopped so she can catch up.
"Hey, Minnie. You ok?" He asked.
"Huh? Oh, I'm fine." She said. "I thought we were being watched."
Mickey chuckled. His earlier uneasy behaviour was rubbing off onto her. He looked around to see nothing but shadows on the walls and ceiling.
"I don't see anything."
"Oh, Mickey there's some kind of spooky atmosphere for some reason." She said as they caught with the group.
"I'm sure it's nothing," Mickey said reassuringly. "You said it yourself it's all pretend."
Minnie nodded as she fingered the lace on her sleeves nervously.
"I'm so excited! Aren't you, Minnie?"
"Here we are," Mark said when they reached a door made to look like a castle dungeon door. As he placed his hand on the knob he turned and said.
"Remember everyone. Be careful in the dark. You must enter the room holding someone's hand."
Everyone quickly paired with a partner.
"Good. Let's us see what's lies behind this door."
He opened the door and the group went in. The room was lite with torches like the hallway and made to look like a jungle. One side Africa the other Mexico. Statues and huts stood their respected places along with weapons, pottery and other relics. There
/were also mannequins dressed up as tribal dancers and warriors. Mark entered the room closing the door behind him.
"Feel free to look around." He said. "Remember not to touch anything and stay together. Curses are not to be taken lightly."
Donald rolled his eyes and muttered something under his breath.
"What was that, Donald?" Daisy asked.
"Curses aren't real," Donald said as the group went their separate ways. "How can you get hurt in here? It's all fake."
"People can find a way, Donald."
"Oh really?"
Donald broke away and went towards the statue in the African jungle. He reached out to the staff in its hand.
"Donald, don't do that!" Daisy screamed getting everyone's attention.
"I'll show you cursed. Let's dance, let's dance!"
He did a mock tribal dance before pulling the staff out of the statues' hand and held it high above his head. Everyone stood there frozen in fear. Waiting for something to happen.
But nothing did.
Donald laughed at the looks of the gangs' faces.
"Look at that!" he said as he put the staff back where it belongs.
"That wasn't funny, Donald," Daisy grumbled as she leaned against a Mexican statue across from where her boyfriend was standing.
She jumped when she felt something moves. Donald noticed and ran over to her.
"Are you ok?" he asked.
"Yeah, I must've leaned on a loose rock."
"Alright, that's enough excitement," Mark said. "Next time please don't touch anything while we begin the next part of the tour."
He opened the door on the other side of the room and led the group to the next room. Daisy and Donald followed far behind. After the door closed shut, something was happening. The statues the ducks touched glowed red before coming to life and turning
/towards the door the tour group disappeared through.
"Get them." Said an unknown voice. "You know what to do."
Donald walked slowly as he noticed how cold it got in the hall. He was only kidding earlier but now he was regretting it. Maybe he shouldn't have done that. The staff felt cold like it was made from real stone.
"Donald, are you ok?"
He jumped when he heard his girlfriend's voice and looked up to see her walk towards him with a look of concern on her face.
"I'm fine, Daisy." He replied. "Just a little cold."
"Yeah, same here."
Daisy looked around to see nothing out of the ordinary.
"We lost the gang." She added.
"Great!"
"Don't worry, they can't have gone far. Let's keep going."
"Daisy wait!"
But it was too late. She was already gone. Donald was ready to run after her when he felt something cold and hard touch his shoulder. He jumped and saw a shadowy figure standing in front of him and eerie voice filled the air.
"Don't come over here!"
"Masquerade. Masquerade."
"Oh no!" he screamed.
"You're invited. You're invited."
"What's the matter, Donald?"
The duck turned to see Daisy running towards him before he was dragged away.
"Daisy, don't come over here!"
"Donald? Donald!"
She ran back to the room she and group were in last and opened the door to see a shocking sight, her boyfriend was being held hostage by two African warriors. The African and Mexican leaders turned when they saw they weren't alone.
"Perfect. Get her!" The Mexican leader ordered.
Two Mexican warriors grabbed Daisy and gagged her before she had a chance to scream.
"Hey, let her go!" Donald yelled.
"I don't think so." The African leader said. "After all you're both invited."
The door closed as an evil laughter and screams filled the room.
Meanwhile, the gang arrived at the next door without difficulty. Mickey shivered when a cold breeze blew in. Minnie noticed and went over to her boyfriend.
"Are you ok?" She asked.
"Yeah." He answered. "It's just got cold all of a sudden."
"Excuse me, Mark," Minnie said getting the hosts' attention. "Is there something wrong with the heat?"
"No," Mark answered. "We just had it six days ago. This way everyone."
He opened the door and led the group inside.
Minnie and Mickey stay behind to ponder what Mark said.
"Strange," Minnie said. "I wonder what it is."
Mickey rubbed his arms trying to warm up. He was finally able to relax and enjoy himself now his nervousness has returned.
What a weird Halloween.
"I've got a bad feeling." He said to himself before following Minnie and the others into the room.
Not bad eh? It's not too scary but I can't it too gory. See you next time!
