Chapter 8 Chinese Ghouls and To Walk like an Egyptian
With the sound of the gong, the chipmunks were possessed in an instant
And for an enchanted statue, Shiriki Utundu sure is persistent
With three people still untouched by his magic
He still has a plan up his sleeve for one of them that is both ancient and tragic...
Chip and Dale looked up at Mickey and the others once the smoke cleared. Their eyes glowed red like the other victims before them and were dressed in red Asian robes. On cue six men dressed in acrobat attire stepped out from the behind the gong and faced the group. Mickey felt uneasy when he saw the men. Their faces were pale and he doubt it was make up.
"Chip and Dale." Shiriki Utundu said as he appeared on the head of a terra cotta statue.
"Be our priests."
Suddenly, Mickey heard Minnie yelped and felt someone grab his arm. He looked to see Mark looking down at him with blank eyes. Oh no! He's under a spell! That horrid statues' spell. How can he stop this?
He needs a plan.
"Now, now." Shiriki Utundu said as he jumped from the top of a terra cotta warrior and landed on the gong.
"We're just getting started here. After all this is the night."
The acrobats stood still for a second before they rise their arms before them and started to jump and flip in the air. Chip and Dale joined in a minute later. Mickey didn't pay attention to the performance as he was lost in thought. Everyone started singing and dancing when they were possessed by the ghosts that were hiding in the artifacts. They were brought here by someone and it couldn't be that statue. It had to be a witch or wizard something like that. But who and where is he/she casting their spells and ruining the Halloween ball? Mickey grinned as an idea came to him. He just need to...
"Enough!" he shouted.
It didn't stop the acrobats. Mickey turned to see his friends Goofy, Donald and Daisy walked in. He tugged his arm free and ran to the other side of the room.
"Stop this! Everyone is becoming possessed for no reason! Donald, Goofy. Everyone fight back. Be firm!"
Shiriki Utundu chuckled as he shook his head while ignoring the mouses' outbursts like he was a child trying to get attention.
"That's not going to happen." he said before twirling his spear and hit the top of the gong with the tip of it.
Mark stiffen as he tighten his grip on Minnie's arm.
"There's still more in store for you."
"What do you mean?" Mickey asked.
"I mean this. Escort the lady to her tomb, my puppet."
Shiriki Utundu waved his spear and Mark walked to towards the door marked Egyptian Temple dragging Minnie with him. Mickey ran after them. He entered the room to see the enthralled tour guide take Minnie towards a large Sphinx located in the centre surrounded by four obelisks. Before Mickey could do anything, Mark toss Minnie into the mouth of the Sphinx.
"Mickey, help me!"
"Minnie!"
Smoke rose as his girlfriend disappeared into the abyss.
Mickey fell to his knees. He didn't think this through. He just wanted to draw the guilty party out into the open so he can get who ever is performing dark magic to break the spell and free everyone. But instead he put his only love in danger. Some boyfriend he is.
Some hero too.
Shiriki Utundu appeared in front of the heartbroken mouse and said.
"Now don't be that way." he said with humour in his voice.
"I have something in store for you as well."
Mickey looked up while trying to hide his tears.
"But first let me introduce Minnie, the queen of ghosts."
Mickey turn to see smoke rising out of the Sphinxs' mouth again and a figure walked out. His eyes widen as he saw his girlfriend dress in royal purple Egyptian robes complete with a golden headdress. Behind her were six women dressed in red and purple robes with cobra like sleeves. Mickey ran up to Minnie with hopes she would remember him. But she blinked her red eyes and turned away while two women stood between the two mice. Mickey felt his heart break again. She's possessed and there's nothing he can do. He watched as Minnie and the snake women began to sing and dance.
"Bones are shaking, hearts are quaking. Ghosts are taking over the sky. Be watchful, be ready. You could next to fly. This is the night...".
There it is again. This is the night. It's in every song and dance routine he's seen tonight. Mickey regained his composure and turned to Shiriki Utundu who was standing on the Sphinxs' head. Maybe there's a way to turn the tables in his favour.
"Why are you doing this?" Mickey asked. "I want my friends back."
"I can't help you there." Shiriki Utundu said while fingering the feather hanging from the blade of the spear.
"I'm just carrying out orders from my master."
I knew it. Mickey thought before the enchanted statue continued to talk.
"I'm to find hosts so ghosts can walk the Earth again."
"No one asked for this." Mickey said.
"Where's your master? Who is he?"
"Right here."
Shiriki Utundu and Mickey turned to see dark purple smoke appear near the door to the room. Mickey shivered as the temperature suddenly dropped. He wasn't able to prepare himself for what he was about to see but he did manage to get the one responsible out of hiding like he wanted. Now to face it head on and break the spell placed on this mansion.
"Welcome to my version of Halloween."
