Kagome gave him a half-smile, managing not to give anything away.

She hoped.

"Claws only, right?" Shippou repeated, looking pointedly at Sesshoumaru's waist. The daiyoukai gave a resigned sigh but undid the ties, placing both swords in Kagome's hands.

The trust that went along with them didn't go unnoticed.

Holding them against her chest, her smile became genuine as Shippou tugged him out the door, Sesshoumaru casting one last look over his shoulder. "Do not do anything reckless while we are away."

The bottom dropped out of her stomach as she tried to discern if it was out of caution or care, her grip on Tenseiga tightening. "Wouldn't dream of it."
