So I've been really into Undertale lately so I figured I'd write a cross-over.
The soft snow broke Zane's fall as he landed in the middle of a small town, right in front to two Skeletons.
"Where am I?" asked Zane
"Ha, you're in the underground, you just materialized right in front of us, the name's Sans," said the short skeleton.
"My name is Zane, I am unsure of where I am,"
"Welcome to the Underground, now, for the million-dollar question, are you human?" asked Sans
"I am a Nindroid, a robot with a soul but I kinda just died five minutes ago to an ancient evil," said Zane
"hmm, your soul isn't quite human but it's not monster either, interesting," said Sans
"So he's not a human?" asked Papyrus
"I'd say he's more like the blook family, his soul is a lot like a human's but not enough to be able to break the barrier," said Sans
"Barrier?" asked Zane
"We monsters were trapped down here by the humans, it would take the combined power of seven human souls to break it, our king has six we just need one more," said Papyrus
"I see," said Zane with a frown
"Hey, cheer up bucko, this means Asgore won't kill you," said Sans
"I suppose so," said Zane hesitantly
"Hey I The Great Papyrus have a brilliant idea, we should go to king Asgore and he can give you a job and a home here,"
"I wouldn't want to disturb the king," said Zane
"Ah don't worry about it buddy, the king is one of the most approachable monsters here in the underground," said Sans
"Wait Sans, there is a very important thing I need to ask him," said Papyrus
"What is that?" asked Zane
"Do you like spaghetti?" asked Papyrus
"Yes, it is one of the easiest meals to make," said Zane
"Sans can we keep him?" asked Papyrus
"Ok pap, it might be nice to have a bone-afied cook staying with us," said Sans with a grin
"SANS!" shouted Pap
"Well that pun was much better than the ones my brother Jay comes up with," said Zane
"Well here's another question, do you find the crossword or junior jumble more difficult?" asked Papyrus
"Well because I'm a robot both are pretty easy but the crossword takes more time because I have to find the answer whereas my system automatically unscrambles words," said Zane
"I suppose that answer is acceptable," said Papyrus "HEY WAIT I THE GREAT PAPYRUS JUST HAD THE MOST BRILLIANT IDEA! WHAT IF I TALKED TO UNDYNE TO GET YOU IN THE ROYAL GUARD!"
"I suppose that would be close to my former line of work," said Zane, completely confused by the brothers at this point.
"Great, I know a shortcut to her place," said Sans. He took Zane's hand and suddenly they were in front of a fish shaped house with a training dummy in the front yard.
Papyrus knocked on the door and a tall fish woman with an eyepatch answered
"Hi Undyne, this guy just appeared out of thin air in front of us and I, the great papyrus thought he'd be great for the royal guard,"
Undyne looked at Zane.
"He looks like a human," said Undyne skeptically
"I'm a nindroid, a robot built to protect those who can't protect themselves," said Zane
"His soul ain't human or monster, he's a bone-afied mystery," said Sans with a wink
"You say you were built to protect?" asked Undyne
"Yes, I sacrificed myself to save my world from an ancient evil, after I died I ended up here," said Zane
Undyne smiled.
"What kind of fighting skills ya got?" asked Undyne
"I can use just about any weapon, I have ice elemental powers, hand to hand combat and this…" said Zane breaking out his spinjitzu tornado
"That's pretty awesome, welcome to the royal guard, I'll need to introduce you to Asgore so we can get you fitted into armor, come on, the quickest way there is the elevator in hotland," said Undyne with a bit of a grimace at the thought of having to go to hotland.
Well, meeting Asgore went nothing like Zane ever expected meeting a king to be like. They all sat down for a cup of tea in the throne room/ flower garden and Asgore was very happy to let Zane join the guard and also gave him the full explanation of how and why monsters were trapped in the underground and what he was doing to try to change that. Zane didn't exactly agree with killing innocent humans but he also didn't see another way for the monsters to leave and Asgore was very remorseful about what he had to do.
"You mentioned having a royal scientist who is researching other ways of breaking the barrier?" asked Zane
"Yeah, Alphys is one of the most brilliant monsters here in the underground," said Undyne
Zane noticed a small blush on Undyne's cheeks.
"Perhaps I could help her out with that, considering how unlikely it is that I will be able to go back to my own home I am assuming this counts as something of an afterlife for me so I'd like to help any way I can," said Zane
"I am sure Alphys would love to have a lab assistant, but do you have a place to stay yet?" asked Asgore
"Well Papyrus offered to let me stay with him and Sans but I don't want to intrude," said Zane
"Making the trip between Snowdin and Hotland will be quite the commute every day, I have a spare room here in the castle that might work better if you would like," offered Asgore
"Are you sure?" asked Zane
"The castle is very large and very lonely, has been ever since I lost my two children and my wife left," said Asgore sadly
"I am sorry to hear that," said Zane
"Yes, it would be nice to have some company," said Asgore thoughtfully
That night Zane was laying in an unfamiliar bed. The room that had been under renovations had been finished by some very helpful walking volcanoes and an airplane who reminded him of Nya a bit. The schedule was set for him to be stationed by Alphys's lab and help her out once a week. She had shown him the amalgamates and he agreed helping them should be the first protocol, once they were stabilized then the focus could shift to making determination injections work. Zane also planned on helping out with Papyrus's cooking lessons once a week because both Pap and Undyne needed to learn how to make something edible. The variety of monsters in the underground astounded him and he was still learning most of their names. Icecap got on his nerves and Snowdrake needed better puns. All the dogs were very sweet but easily excited.

"Ok first off you need to cook the vegetables and bananas don't belong in tomato sauce," said Zane
"Oh," said Papyrus
"Second, you want to boil the water first and then add the pasta, only stir occasionally, also put some salt in the water," said Zane

At the Castle
Zane was in the kitchen making dinner, he was using the stove since he didn't have fire magic.
"Hello Zane, how was your day?" asked Asgore, the hem of his cloak covered in dirt from the garden.
"Good, Undyne and Papyrus can now make edible spaghetti, and Alphys and I are making progress," said Zane
"It's hard to believe you've been here a month now," said Asgore with a smile
"I am enjoying it here in the Underground, it's a lot more peaceful than my life used to be," said Zane
"I'm happy that you have settled in well, say, do you know how to make butterscotch cinnamon pie? My wife used to make it all the time and I can never seem to make it myself," asked Asgore
"Well I can certainly try, but I'm not sure if it will be as good as your wife's," said Zane
"Wonderfull, everything is in the cabinets and fridge, also would you happen to know any good recipes using snails?" asked Asgore
"Actually I do know a few," said Zane
"Wonderfull, so what are you making tonight?" asked Asgore
"Well I thought I'd experiment with some local ingredients, a rather pushy vegetoid gave me a ton of vegetables to use and there is an abundance of mushrooms," said Zane
"Hmm, well I'm sure it will be great, like all your other dishes, let me know if you need anything," said Asgore "Oh I almost forgot, Alphys is coming over with one of her friends,"
"Alright," said Zane, not thinking much of it.
