It seemed it was all easy goings so far, but there was the crown jewel of the cave. Articuno lay at its roost, and Misty decided she wanted to fight it to try to capture it. She confronted the Pokémon and it seemed there was an epic battle to begin. She got out the Ultra Ball she found and stepped forward.
[Music Ends Abruptly]
Only to slip in something slick sending her on her back and the ball flying past Articuno's head.
"Hahaha! How can you capture you when you can't-"
The Ultra Ball bounced off the wall and socked the bird in the back of its head…capturing it. It waggled…waggled…waggled some more.

Crimson looked down in what Misty stepped in and starting to laugh.
"By Arecus, that the definition of irony. What you stepped in… is Articuno's droppings. Captured by accident because the trainer slipped in the legend's own shit." Crimson said between laughter.
Misty did not find it funny given that her favorite sneakers were ruined…and she practically got a legendary in the most slapstick way possible.
"A catch is a catch. Besides, it's more Articuno's fault, really."
"Still." Misty said shaking her head as the ball vanished to cyberspace. "Not a word of what happened! As far as everyone else knows, we had an epic fight."
"Remember that your friends have translators." Dex Bulma chimed.
"Fuck." Misty spat.
"Language." Kishi admonished.
"Let's just go." Misty said turning to Crimson. "Kaa-san, it was good seeing you, but Crimson has a gym battle to get to."
"Yeah. We should get going." Crimson said as Kushi pouted.
"Oh all right, you humored me long enough. Good luck on your journey." Kushi said assaulting Misty with 'mommy-kisses'. "Bye sweetie."
"Get off, please. I'm not a baby anymore." Misty said sheepish.

Misty was never the gladder to be out of there and away from her mother.
"I swear she babies me too much." Misty said only to remember Crimson's lack of parents. "Oh damn, I'm so…"
"Forget about it." Crimson said sending out Kimiko. "Your mother seems like the spoiling type."
Misty just got Kimiko's back with him as Kimiko took to the skies.
"Yo, Joe, Rusty? What up?" Crimson said on the communication line.
"We're already on Cinnabar Island." Joe remarked. "But I think Nigiri is mad at me. I caught a Slowbro…and I got it evolved into a Slowking thanks to Rusty getting a new Pokémon himself."
"Oh, that's great. Frankly, Nigiri was always a bit clingy." Crimson remarked.
"Yeah…I'd send Tobirama to Tree's, but I made an exception this time. We're out on the beach, see you there." Joe said before the line cut.
"Everyone catching new Pokémon today. Oh wait, I still have that fossil those guys at the museum gave me. Welp, may as well." Crimson said as Kimiko flew on ahead.
The horizon came up and they could see the Cinnabar Volcano on the horizon. Kimiko had to fly down to the beach to see the rest of crew chilling out.
"What's up?" Joe said as she landed. "I want you to met my new catch. Don Salvatore."
"How do you do?" Salvatore said in perfect English. "You're not surprised."
"I'm an auric. This is perfectly normal." Crimson said. "And oh my gosh, you sound like Salvatore Leone from GTA 3."
"You noticed?" Sissi asked.
"Yeah, looking forward to their next game…" Crimson said before having an idea for later.
"Let me introduce, Ginerva." Rusty said as the Golduck was in the midst of having some ice cream. "So, you guys catch anything?"
"I didn't…but Misty did. All that's left is Moltres." Crimson said slyly.
Ginerva nearly choked on her ice cream, Salvatore took pause, and the rest dropped jaws.
"Oh man, the battle must have been epic!" Rusty said only to see Misty's face. "What's wrong?"
"It wasn't epic…I caught Articuno by accident." Misty said with a pout. "I slipped on some shit it left and I threw the ball. Do the math. I'm going to go trash these sneakers and get new ones."
Joe just gave Misty a dirty look as she left as Rusty had a look of disbelief. Crimson's giggling only confirmed it as Rusty shook his head.
"This is some bullshit." Joe said summing it up. "I have to fight mine tooth and nail, and she slips on some shit."
"To be fair, more on the legendary than her. Picture it, you got caught because you failed to have disposed of your fecal matter." Salvatore said. "If I was that legendary, I'd be more upset about that."
Ginerva began laughing only to be bemoan the ice cream headache. Shellshock Sheldon was back at the mansion with Ginerva taking his place for now. Crimson loaned them the TM case as they got to work on moves for their new captures.
"Flamethrower? You can lean fire moves, Sal! That's choice." Joe said deviously.
After new moves in, they gave the case back to Crimson.
"You did get us a place to stay, right?" Crimson asked.
"Shit!" Joe spat.
"I'll deal with it. I need to go into town anyway." Crimson said returning Kimiko and sending out Tessa to follow along.
The island felt quite similar to how to anime, manga, and artworks portrayed it in being surrounded a big volcano…and being a bit of a resort town. He caught up to Misty who had bought new sneakers to wear, a pair of red hi-tops.
"So, you going to swap her in?" He asked her.
"If I don't and my sisters get to her, that won't end well." Misty said as they hurried to the center.
Misty swapped Swanna for Articuno to which he scanned the ball with Dex Bulma to look at the stats.
"Ok, if you had her, you probably would have seriously struggled. Check out the moves: Ice Beam, Hurricane, Ancient Power, Hail, Extrasensory, Bubble Beam, and Ominous Wind. Hot damn, she would have put you on your toes." Crimson said as they went to an empty room to let Articuno out.
To say she was fuming was one thing, she was beyond upset that she was captured by accident.
"To be fair, I did slip in your droppings." Misty said.
"I…you…well…that's just great. Now I'm stuck with you. Zapdos has an epic fight, Moltres is holding out for hers, and I…get caught because of this. When I go to the Hall of Ori-Oh shit, it's you." Articuno said noticing Crimson. "I guess it's slightly less bad…"
"Welcome to the team, Demetria." Misty said before returning her. "I can't go around calling her Articuno."
"Not judging, but I'm pretty sure you'll never use her for Gym Battles." Crimson joked as she punched his shoulder again.

(A/N: Why Misty? If anything, Articuno is a nice little ironic reminder. I had planned for Articuno to be captured either by Misty or Sissi, and I realized Misty strikes better for it than Sissi. Should Demetria stay in the party for now in the question? And yes, the capture being underwhelming was on purpose. Not every battle with a legend can be epic…sometimes, shit happens.
