(Pallet Town | May 26th | 4:00 p.m.)
The Mills home had an arena within the massive home. Humble as he was, Leone Mills did want to lavish his family. Crimson and Lindsay were standing on opposing as Lindsay's parents and the others took to the stands. Delia took to the referee's stand. Crimson had made a few swaps for his team, as he did promised Galena a fight.
"I don't think I have to make introductions. Let the battle begin!" Delia said as the marquee lit up.
The marquee had a set up quite similar to the ones at the tournaments, but it also showed badge count. Septhi Mills dropped her wine glass and Lindsay's friends were at a loss for words. Crimson did not flinch on the outside.
"When the hell did you get all eight?" Heather roared.
"While I was doing my hair." Lindsay said with sarcasm dripping in her words.
"Was that sarcasm?" Septhi said.
"That's my girl." Leone said.
"Ladies first." Crimson said determined.

"Cinder, I choose you!" Lindsay said sending out a Garchomp.
That got eyes on Lindsay, namely on how and when did she get one in her possession. In response, he sent Sir Jett out to rumble.
"Cinder, Dragon Dance." Lindsay said as Cinder performed a tribal dance glowing slightly.
"Shit, a boost to attack and speed. I think take this one out." Crimson thought before saying, "Jett, Earthquake!"
Jett smashed the ground rumbling the arena damaging Cinder, who looked mildly annoyed.
"Brick Break!" Lindsay said as Cinder's fist hotly glowed white.
"Beware my power." Cinder roared lunging at Jett.
"Grab her fists!" Crimson said as Jett caught them skidding back.
"Ah, you are going to fight me, chocodile?" Cinder taunted pushing on as Jett was straining in pain. "You ain't exactly a Fighting-type!"
"Dark Pulse!" Crimson said. "Show her what Dark-types are capable of!"
"Oh, I can fight, but I fight dirty!" Jett said slamming his foot down on her's before blasting her in the face with a Dark Pulse.
"Meddlesome bastard!" Cinder roared.
"Dragon Claw!/Shadow Claw!" Lindsay/Crimson said as both Pokémon slashed at each other.
Cinder had hit first with a STAB, but Jett powered through give her a critical hit. Both panted glaring at each other. It had come down to them using their physical attacks to pummel each other. A snarling Cinder sank her fangs into Jett's shoulder with a Crunch as Jett coughed out blood.
"Show her a real Crunch!" Crimson said.
Jett had not exactly heard that, but he intended to do that either way sinking his jaws into her getting a hiss of pain out of us. Neither wanted to give in and they were neck and neck, but then their trainers called for their pulse attacks. Both had blasted the other point-black sending both Pokémon down at their trainer's feet. Despite the injuries, both got up. Jett stumbled taking up his shades that had fallen.
"You think it's over…I…oh there goes my…" Cinder said before falling down.
"It's over…you crazy bitch." Jett said hobbling back to Crimson.
Jett glowed bright red for a moment as Moxie triggered.
"Good work, but you're being benched." Crimson said returning him.
"That was intense." Ash said as Lindsay returned Cinder.
"Lil' Swish, I need mind over matter!" Crimson said having his Espeon take the stage.
"St. Augustine, time to bloom!" Lindsay said having her Leafeon to combat. "Sunny Day!"
"Toxic!" Crimson said.
While the saint brightened the day, Lil' Swish had got him badly poisoned. Lindsay promptly tossed St. Augustine a Pecha Berry. Crimson did not mind it given that called for Lil' Swish to use Sizzily Slide. Then he hit St. Augustine and Lindsay that they just used Sunny Day…which boost Fire-types.
"Aw f-GYAAHHHHH!"
Lil' Swish had bested St. Augustine once again…hoisting him by own petard. The roasted Grass Pokemon glared up at Lil' Swish before it all went to black. Arlen was sent out and Lindsay called for him to use Fire Blast.
"Well crap." Lil' Swish said.
Crimson had him use Sizzily Slide as a shield to go past him. Damage was still something Swish to had to endure, but he was lucky it was not as bad as it SHOULD have been.
"Pay Day." Crimson said as Lil' Swish's gem glowed blasting Arlen with coins.
"Show them your Hexfire!" Lindsay said as Arlen's eyes glowed purple.
What Hexfire was a combination of Hex and Mystical Fire….letting Hex freeze up the victim being consumed by fire which got Lil' Swish in the bind the Hex got him and the flames were a critical. Lil' Swish struggled to stay conscious as Arlen loomed.
"Don't get up…it's ov.."
Lil' Swish spat Toxic in Arlen's face before collapsing. Joe howled with laughter as few just looked surprised. Those that knew Lil' Swish knew him to very polite.
"Thanks, Lil' Swish." Crimson said returning him before sending Jett out. "Jett, just hang on."
"Foxy boy." Jett said.
"Finish him with Hyper Beam!" Lindsay said.
"Earthquake." Crimson said as Arlen fired the solar powered laser.
Jett ducked under the blast and smashed the ground getting to shake and landing an effective bow on Arlen. With Arlen reeling, Jett finished him off with Earth Power sealing the victory. Moxie triggered again as he walked back to Crimson's side. The effects of Sunny Day were on their last limbs as Lindsay returned Arlen.
"Kojon, let's get it started!" Lindsay said sending out a Mienshao.
"Mienshao, the Martial Arts Pokémon and evolved from Mienfoo. It wields the fur on its arm like a whip. Its arm attacks come with such rapidity that they cannot even be seen. A respectful Pokémon, it can be typically seen training alongside it's trainer. Kicks from this Pokémon are strong enough to shatter boulders." Dex Tashigi rattled.
Kimiko was sent out and then it dawned on Kojon and Lindsay. Sunny Day was still on!
"Blast Burn." Crimson said.
Kojon did not even get a chance to fight as it was a roasted and unconscious Pokémon. Sunny Day fizzled out right after just as if the weather had flipped Lindsay off. Despite clearly being upset, Lindsay kept a grin…that was snaggled. She sent out Sento, and had him use Rain Dance.
"Joke's on you. Now it's raining!" Lindsay said. "I doubt your Charizard can learn Thunder?"
"No, it can learn Hurricane." Crimson said snapping his fingers as Kimiko rapidly flapped her wings. "And it doesn't miss in the rain."
Lindsay's eye twitched but then she took a breath. She'd hand to him to make his Pokémon rounded around to fight even with a disadvantage. Sento was being flown and smacked around by the harsh winds.
"Sento, Aqua Jet." Lindsay said as water surrounded him as he rocketed for Kimiko. "Don't let her escape."
"We don't plan to escape! Kimiko, Thunder Punch!" Crimson said as Kimiko flew in with electricity cackled around her fist.
Kimiko had to endure the blow, but she smirked seeing Sento scream out clearly paralyzed. Kimiko hit the ground clearly in the red while Sento was in the yellow. Lindsay tossed Sento a Cheri Berry, but Crimson returned Kimiko to send out Rhint.
"Enough games." Crimson said activating his Mega Band. "Rhint, Dragon Pulse!"
Lindsay had her Key Stone with her belt buckle and activated hers calling Sento to use Dragon Pulse. While both mega evolved, Rhint was quicker on the draw to land his attack first.
"Aura Sphere!" Crimson said Rhint prepared the blue sphere between his hands.
"Dig!" Lindsay said as Sento dived into the dig dodging the sphere.
However, the Aura Sphere went up into the air and zipped down the hole. BOOM! The explosion shook the ground. Sento came out of the hole and collapsed. Lindsay was down to her last Pokémon, but she promptly forfeited. Even with Kimiko in the red, he had two more Pokémon he could have used to soften Roth up.
[Cues: Final Fantasy VI OST – Victory Theme]
The marquee flashed before showing that Crimson was the winner. For Crimson, that battle was a bit too close for comfort. He returned Rhint immediately and took a deep breath.
[Music Ends]
"That was intense." Gary said. "Shit, remind me to never underestimate Lindsay again."
"I'll remind you." Heather said a bit shaken.
"Too close for comfort. A good fight, but…I got lucky. Frankly, the team I rolled with wasn't the best combination." Crimson admitted.
"I did notice you didn't send Morticia or Tank out." Rusty said as Leone was the one to give Crimson prize money.
"Take it. Because you gave us quite the show and Septhi's jaw was all on the ground." He said with a hearty laugh. "Now I can say 'I told you so'."
"Thanks, Uncle Leone." Crimson said leaving. "Now if you excuse me. I need to patch up my team, and ready for some more fights."
He returned home to give he had someone waiting for him. Roulette, namely.
"Veronica?" He asked.
"Darling, I came to check on the boss to see how you're doing. I heard you're on route for the last badge, and I realized I should come and help you to train. But I do want to establish a bonus if I win the fight." Roulette said as Crimson playfully rolling his eyes.
"When I win, I will deal with you. Because I'm pretty sure you have a money fetish." Crimson said dryly.
(A/N: While the next chapter will only show snippets of battles, I wanted to give Lindsay the honor of getting the full battle as I had hinted repeatedly of Lindsay's potential, and it pays off here considerably. I did promise that this arc would be short. As an aside, RIP Ed Asner, truly you will be missed. Chapters 69, 70, 73, 79, 85, 88, 89, 91, and 92 for either spelling and grammar.)
