"I expected more exuberance about your triumph," Sesshoumaru said, sitting next to her under the tree.

She shrugged. "Not everything needs to be yelled about."

His eyebrow quirked, as she knew it would, but was interrupted by his mother. She shifted closer, eyes on her son, before reaching out and placing her hand on his chest.

Sesshoumaru's eyes widened in shock, his fingers tightening around Kagome's, and she squeezed back reassuringly. "What does that mean?"
