The following morning, Rotor and Sir Charles stood outside one of the royal council chambers to do their demonstration. Between them was a trolley covered with a white sheet on which the invention sat ready to be unveiled to their audience. They had been asked to wait outside whilst the Royal Family and Council were gathering.
The young walrus was hoping from foot to foot trying to keep himself distracted from how nervous he was. Sir Charles looked over to him. He could see sweat shining on the Walrus's forehead, and his paws were shaking.
"Oh man Uncle Chuck," Rotor panted as he wiped his forehead with the sleeve of his white lab coat. "I'm so nervous. This is even scarier than those days I presented my gadgets in Knothole..."
Sir Charles chuckled. "I've had that same feeling many times throughout my life. You'll get used to it."
Rotor nodded in agreement. "Yeah! Well, this is one presentation I'm especially nervous about as it's before the whole Royal Family and the Court! Not to mention the two most important agents at GUN. In Knothole, it was just Sonic, Sally, and the other Freedom Fighters, and I was more worried that my inventions wouldn't work when we were in enemy territory, but this…" he paused as he swallowed hard. "My stomach is in knots!"
Sir Charles patted the walrus's shoulder comfortingly. "Completely understand Rotor. Here's some advice, just think of this being another time you introduce one of your presentations back in Knothole. The feeling you had then of being relaxed, try and remember that feeling as you present this."
Rotor turned to Sir Charles with a smile. "Okay then Chuck. I'll do that."
Just then, the door to the chamber opened making Rotor jump and a male grey cat doorman appeared. "Mr Rotor, Sir Charles. They're ready for you now."
"That's our cue Rotor," Sir Charles said. "Are you ready?"
"Really as I'll ever be Uncle Chuck," Rotor replied, taking a deep breath.
"Very well, shall we?" Sir Charles asked.
"Yes lets!" Rotor agreed then started to push the trolley into the Royal Chamber as the Doorman opened the doors fully.
As Rotor and Sir Charles entered the Royal Chamber, they could see King Max and Queen Alicia seated at the top of the room, sitting on thrones almost identical to their thrones in the Throne Room, with Elias and Megan seated on Alicia's side and Sonic and Sally were seated on Max's side. Also in the room were Max and Alicia's Royal Court where Jules, Bernadette, Amadeus and Rosemary were seated, as well as Sally's Royal Council which included all the Key Freedom Fighters, many Rotor knew very well from their Knothole days. Knuckles and Julie-Su were there representing Angel Island, along with the Chaotix, and Shadow and Rouge were there too in their uniforms representing GUN.
Rotor could also see his mother and Skeeter seated on the side of the Royal Court and his heart beat faster. He swallowed hard. 'Okay, keep it together Rotor. Just think of it like being in Knothole. It's no different, apart from the fact that this includes the Royals and their Council Members...'
He felt Sir Charles's hand on his shoulder again and he smiled gratefully before turning to the King and Queen and bowing to them.
"Good morning your majesties," He spoke then turned to the Royal Court and addressed them with a bow to which they nodded back and did the same to Sally's Royal Council who also nodded back.
"Good morning, Rotor and Sir Charles Hedgehog," Max said in a clear voice and Alicia nodded to Rotor as she held her husband's hand.
Rotor smiled then his eyes turned to Sally who was smiling at him as well as stroking her swollen belly, and Sonic placed a hand on his wife's stomach before giving Rotor an encouraging wink.
'Oh man!' Rotor thought. 'I'm so excited! I can't believe I guessed that Sonic and Sally would have twins! I can't wait to meet them!'
He was brought back to Mobius again as he heard Max's voice.
"Thank you, young Rotor for coming here today to show us what you have worked hard on these past few weeks. You have been a very valuable asset to the Freedom Fighters during the War with Robotnik. Your inventions and gadgets have proven to be successful, whether it be during combat or freeing those enslaved from Robotnik's iron grip."
Rotor went slightly pink as he listened, and he saw his mother smiling proudly at him and Skeeter giving him a thumbs up.
As he looked at the cloth covered trolley, Tails leaned close to Cream and whispered to her. "I can't wait to see what's under that cloth."
"Me too," Cream agreed, smiling. "This is really exciting!"
Amy gently shushed them both as she brought a finger to her lips.
"Sorry!" both the fox and rabbit whispered then looked back at Rotor as he puffed out his chest.
"I was just doing my duty your majesty. I along with Princess Sally and all the other Freedom Fighters, we were determined to put an end to Robotnik's reign of terror and free those enslaved as well as bring justice to those he murdered in cold blood."
As he said that, murmurs were heard around the room, many from the Freedom Fighters as they remembered that difficult and frightening time but then Alicia spoke up.
"And you did just that," she smiled. "We couldn't be prouder of you."
Max nodded in agreement and some the room erupted with applause from the Royal Court and Sally's Council as they too agreed and Rotor beamed happily.
"You're doing great Rotor," Charles said, smiling at the walrus.
"Thanks Uncle Chuck," Rotor mouthed.
The room quietened down as Max waved his hands, yet the king winced as his rheumatism affected him and Alicia squeezed one of his hands in an act of comfort. Max smiled at his wife in appreciation mouthing 'I'll be okay.' Then he turned to Rotor and Sir Charles.
"Now then young Rotor, Sir Charles, when you are ready, begin your demonstration."
Rotor and Sir Charles bowed to the King and Queen and everyone in the room turned to look at the Walrus and older hedgehog.
"Ready to begin?" Sir Charles asked to which Rotor nodded and turned to everyone in the room.
"Your Majesties, ladies and gentlemen of the court, and Sally's Royal Council, for weeks, Sir Charles and myself have been working very hard on a new invention that we believe will prove useful not just to those here in Mobotroplis, but also for GUN."
He glanced at Shadow and Rouge who were seated with Sally's Royal Council. Shadow was watching with a focused frown on his face and Rouge was sitting with a camera in her hand disguised as a compact, filming the demonstration so she could report it back to GUN.
"Something that can save lives," Rotor continued. "As well as provide protection and security."
A curious murmur resonated around the room and Rotor turned to Sir Charles.
"Your Majesties, Lords and Ladies, may I present," he paused then with Sir Charles's help, removed the cloth from the table. "The Searchers!"
The whole room gasped in amazement and awe as they saw on the table several drones, some looked like tiny egg-shaped balls, yet there were some shaped like small birds and animals.
"Upon my soul..." Max gasped and Alicia's eyes widened.
"Mah Stars!" Bunnie exclaimed.
"Sacre Bleu!" Antoine added after his wife in equal amazement.
"Whoa!" Tails breathed.
"Wow!" Amy and Cream said together.
"Ooohhh..." Sally whispered and Sonic whistled impressed.
"This is an invention that could benefit not only us but Mobius as a whole," Sir Charles explained then turned to Rotor who nodded.
"Really?" Max mused rubbing his chin as well as fiddled with his grey moustache curiously. "Then please, show us how."
"As you wish your majesty," Sir Charles obliged. "Rotor? Would you assist me?"
He positioned one of the drones and Rotor nodded before holding up a remote.
"Everyone, please, observe!"
He pressed a button on the remote, and the drone activated, lifting up then hovered above the table. The whole room was silent as the audience watched intently and the only sound that was heard was the humming of the drone. Then it flew up above the table and flew around the room, everyone watched it as it scanned the walls as well as the paintings and the doors.
"Wow!" Megan cried as the drone hovered near her.
"Oh Gosh!" Sally exclaimed.
"Impressive!" Elias agreed.
"Now that's really something!" Sonic said, his trademark smirk appearing on his face.
Max tried to stand up from his chair, but he winced in pain from his rheumatism. Yet he was able to keep watching the drone as it flew around the room scanning the room before flying back to the table where it landed noiselessly. "Well young Rotor, Sir Charles. This is most certainly impressive."
"And there's more!" Rotor announced and he took off his white lab coat to reveal what he was wearing underneath which turned out to be a black jumpsuit with red details. Everyone again gasped in surprise and a few blinked as they wondered what it was for.
"What is that Rotor?" Cream asked, raising her hand before anyone else could ask.
Rotor didn't reply but smiled with excitement as he began to tap his fingers and thumbs and the other drones rose from the table making everyone gasp again.
"Amazing!" Alicia breathed as she held Max's hand, and the King only nodded with his mouth slightly agape in awe.
"With this little suit I designed," Rotor began. "I can control as many of the drones as I wish. The remote was just for one drone, but this baby..." he gestured to the suit. "I can control more than one."
"For real?" Sonic gasped.
"Wow!" Cream exclaimed. "That's incredible!"
"Yeah!" Tails agreed placing a hand on Cream's. "So many drones being controlled and through one suit!"
Rotor nodded as he heard Tails. "Right, you are Tails! This suit I wear can relay information back to me as I control my drones, many as you can see here are disguised as birds, small animals, and even insects so they can hide in the smallest of spaces."
As he spoke, he got one of the bird drones to fly over to Sally who held out her hand and the bird landed on it making her giggle.
"Hello there!" Sally spoke to the drone, and Sonic chuckled.
"Hey little guy!" he smirked.
The bird chirped at the hedgehog and ground squirrel then cocked its head then flew up again with the other drones that flew around the room.
"With these little drones there will be no place for criminals to hide, especially those like Scourge!" said Rotor.
Many reacted with disgust at the mention of the green hedgehog and Shadow and Rouge glared as well as looked proud of the fact they had made sure he along with Fiona Fox were locked away for life.
"Those like him and worse who may still be out there," Rotor continued. "There's no place to run nor hide. They're the eyes and ears of every city on the planet."
"Impressive invention," Shadow spoke up and everyone turned to the black hedgehog hopefully.
"What do you think Rouge?" Shadow asked, looking to her.
The white bat smirked and nodded. "From what I've observed partner, I wholeheartedly agree. I've been recording the demonstration via my computer compact and my hidden camera badge. President Nathaniel and Commander Abraham will be very impressed."
Rotor grinned hopefully then turned to his audience again. "So, in conclusion, ladies and gentlemen, these drones will act as Searchers as I call them, to look for the lost and trapped, and those hiding from justice."
Sally smiled. "Wow. And may I be so bold as to say dear Rotor, I do approve of this, for if we were still in Knothole and continuing our fight and resistance against Robotnik's reign of terror, this would have stood out amongst all the rest."
As she said those words, her Royal Council agreed, Bunnie and Amy agreeing loudest of them all.
"This is a mondo awesome invention bud!" Sonic agreed as he stood up clapping his hands. "Really great job!"
"Thank you," Rotor said with a bow then he saw Max get up with difficulty, yet Alicia helped him stand.
"And I…" Max winced. "Sorry, I too agree. Bravo to the both of you." He clapped his hands yet painfully.
Alicia nodded as she supported her husband. "Job very well-done Rotor and you as well Sir Charles!" she spoke.
Sir Charles bowed and blushed. "Thank you, your majesties."
Max then smiled that impressed smile. "From what I have seen young Rotor, Sir Charles, this is an amazing invention. And I commend you both. I personally approve of this invention, seeing how it will benefit us in Mobotropolis, as well as the rest of the planet."
Rotor grinned excitedly.
"And now, as it has had my approval, I ask you of the Royal Court, how vote you?" The King turned to the Royal Court and one by one, they all spoke 'Aye' saying they approved.
Once they had spoken, Sally turned to her Royal Council and asked them the same question to which all of them, including Shadow and Rouge, Knuckles and Julie-Su and the Chaotix voted the same with 'Aye'.
Sally turned to the walrus and hedgehog with a smile. "Looks like all of us have our approval Rotor."
"Wow..." Roter breathed. "Really?"
Skeeter grinned and clapped. "Awesome!"
"Congrats son!" Georgette praised. "I'm so proud of you!"
At once everyone cheered and applauded in agreement and Rotor stood there overwhelmed and so happy the demonstration went so well. He then felt Sir Charles pat him on the back.
"Well done, Rotor." he said with a smile. "You did good."
"Thanks Chuck," Rotor replied, returning the hedgehog's smile.
Max then waved his hands again with difficulty, and everyone settled down. Once the room was quiet, Max spoke again. "Thank you, both of you, for your demonstration. I congratulate you both on a job well done. As you have heard, you have my approval, and I shall be speaking to the president in Central City about this."
Rouge grinned and Shadow smirked as they heard that.
"In the meantime," Max spoke again. "Everyone is dismissed."
As Max said that everyone relaxed and stood up from their seats to go over to the table to look at the drones as well as ask Rotor more questions. The walrus watched proudly as everyone touched and stroked the drones as well as studied them.
"I'm proud of you Rotor," Sir Charles praised the happy walrus again.
"Thanks Chuck," Rotor grinned. "Man, all the years in Knothole and I never thought of something like this!"
"Hey Unc!"
Sonic's excited voice was heard, and they looked over to see the grinning hedgehog prince bound over to look at the drones, Sally not far behind along with Elias and Megan.
"Great job on you and Rotor on these bad boys!" he said. "They're awesome!"
"Yes. And they're very cute as well," Sally agreed. "Especially the birds."
"Thanks Sonny Boy," Sir Charles chuckled.
"Thanks Sonic, Sally," Rotor replied. "You know, if there was any inkling that Robotnik was still alive, these babies would sniff him out in no time."
"But there is no fear of that walrus!"
The deep voice of Knuckles was heard as he observed the drones along with Julie-Su. "That monster is long gone, him and his little midget assistant."
"Indeed yes," Julie-Su agreed. "And good riddance to both of them being gone."
"I'm at peace knowing he is no more," Knuckles added. "Then we could bring up our daughter safely."
"And I am in agreeance," Megan spoke up. "Alexis is in a safe world now, much to mine and Elias's peace of mind." She squeezed her husband's hand as Elias nodded with a smile.
"The same can be said for our future little ones!" Sonic grinned and rubbed his wife's stomach and Sally chuckled as she felt them kick within.
"Awww babies," she laughed. "You want to see your Uncle Rotor's inventions too?"
Rotor grinned as he looked at Sally's swollen stomach. "I'm betting two boys."
"No way!" Amy's voice was heard nearby with Mina. "Two girls I'm betting!"
"I'm betting a boy and a girl," Mina added. "Then they get the best of both worlds."
Sonic shook his head and laughed as he held his hands up in a dramatic fashion. "And the bidding war begins!"
Sally giggled as she heard the rest of her friends place their bets on the gender of her and Sonic's unborn children.
"I'm betting a boy and a girl too!" Cream spoke up. "It would be nice to have one of the other!"
"Me too Cream!" Tails agreed to which Cream smiled cutely.
Rouge meanwhile nudged Shadow and smirked. "I'm betting two boys!"
"Two boys huh?" Shadow asked cocking his head on one side.
"Well," Rouge shrugged. "Not that I'm hoping, but I'm betting for the fun of it!" She was remembering what Shadow had said weeks back when they first heard of the pregnancy what Shadow felt about there being another Sonic and if Mobius was ready for a clone of his blue rival.
"We'll find out in due time," Shadow replied then looked back at the drones.
Knuckles folded his arms and smirked at Sonic. "You think you're ready for two mini-you's? If you get two boys that is?"
"Of course!" Sonic grinned and gestured a thumb to himself proudly. "The more of me on Mobius the better!"
Shadow rolled his eyes in annoyance at Sonic's comment before muttering "Yeah right," making Rouge laugh.
"I agree!" Amy piped up.
"Of course, you would agree," Mina shot at Amy who looked back at the yellow mongoose. "You'd agree with anything Sonic says. You always do."
"That's not true!" Amy retorted blushing mad to which both Mina and Cream laughed and shook their heads disagreeing.
"Well," Megan said. "Although another Sonic might be alright, another Sally would be good too. I'm betting two girls."
"Aww thanks Megan," Sally gushed.
"But in all seriousness!" Sonic said. "Even if it's two girls, who's to say they won't take after dear ol' dad?"
"Little Speedys?" Knuckles asked. "Addicted to chili dogs and afraid of nothing? Or at least claims to never be?"
"Steady there, Boss!" Espio said.
"Yeah!" Vector agreed "Sonic's got a lot more than that!"
"Totally!" Charmy squeaked.
Sally chuckled and stroked her stomach lovingly. "Well, whatever we have I'm excited to meet them."
"Same here babe!" Sonic agreed and kissed his wife's cheek.
"I'm just excited about being a grandma!" Bernadette said who was standing near Sir Charles looking at the drones with Jules. "I'm not sure what to bet on!"
"The same can be said for myself!" Jules agreed.
Bernadette gushed proudly. "Our baby-hog, now about to be a dad himself!"
"I never thought I'd see the day," Sir Charles agreed while clicking his tongue at Sonic, who grinned in response.
"Heh!" Jules chuckled "Couldn't be prouder of that boy!"
"Agreed brother," Sir Charles replied as he saw Megan and Elias feeling for the babies and getting excited when they felt a kick. "Our Sonny boy is going to be an amazing dad."
"He sure will be!" said Bernadette. "Well, he and Sally practically took to looking after the young ones when their parents were robotized, especially Tails and Cream!"
"And what a job they both did!" Jules said.
Bernadette nodded. "So proud of them!"
Amy and Mina soon joined in to say hello to the babies and feel for a kick. Sonic laughed as he observed. "You ladies excited about the littles huh?"
"You bet!" Amy cheered.
"Uh huh!" Mina added.
"I'll be the best auntie!" Amy announced proudly to which Mina raised an eyebrow.
"Oh yeah?" she asked. "Why's that?"
"Yes, why is that Amy?" Cream questioned.
'Uh oh…' Sonic thought. 'Here we go…Aunties at War.'
"Because I'll spoil them rotten!" Amy stated. "Treats! Outings! You name it, and if they're girls, I'll treat them to shopping days and make-up sessions!"
"Oh yeah?" Mina challenged. "Well I can do the same. But I can teach them how to sing and play music and appreciate it."
"Hold up there, ladies!" Tails announced as he stepped before everyone and placed his hand on Sally's stomach. "I'm going to be the best Uncle!"
Sonic face-palmed while laughing and Sally shook her head before looking at her husband. "This'll last for hours hun. Better just let them bicker."
Knuckles rolled his eyes. "I remember everyone on Angel Island bickering like this when they heard about Julie-Su's pregnancy."
Julie-Su nodded in agreement as did Megan and Elias.
"It's to be expected with this crazy bunch," Elias said as he saw everyone beginning to bicker and banter on who would be the new babies' favorite aunt and uncle.
"For sure," Sally agreed. "But it lifts my spirits they all want to help out."
"Same here!" Sonic said as he wrapped an arm around his wife. "Couldn't' ask for a better group of friends and family!"
Megan meanwhile turned to Elias. "We'd better check on Alexis."
"Sounds like a plan," Elias agreed holding out his hand to his wife. "Shall we?"
"Lets!" Megan said and took her husband's hand.
"Likewise, with us," Knuckles agreed as Julie-Su took his arm. "I hope Lara's not been too boisterous with Rosie."
"I'm sure she's not," Julie-Su said. "But let's go and see."
"You want to join us Sonic? Sally?" Megan offered.
"Of course!" Sally smiled. "it'll be nice to see the kids as well as see Rosie."
"Yeah! Count me in too!" Sonic agreed.
Both the hedgehog and ground squirrel were glad to have an excuse to get away for a bit, especially Sally as it was getting a little overwhelming with everyone so excited about her pregnancy and wanting to feel for the babies. She also thought that it would give everyone a chance to get their betting and bickering out of their systems.
After excusing themselves, Sonic, Sally, Knuckles, Julie-Su, Elias, and Megan left the Council Chamber, saying they would return for the celebration party later and headed a few doors down the corridor to check in on Alexis as well as Knuckles and Julie-Su's young daughter Lara-Su. They soon made it to a smaller room that had been made up to look like a creche with large plastic Wendy houses and castles, a couple of small slides and swings, different kinds of toys and picture books.
In the middle of the room, Rosie Woodchuck, an elderly chipmunk with grey hair and wearing spectacles watched over Alexis as she crawled around, whilst a small red female echidna no older than four years old, with red dreadlock quills and pink hair sat surrounded by dolls and teddies and pretending to have a tea-party.
As the six grown-ups entered the room, Rosie looked up, as did Lara-Su and Alexis.
"Hey girls! Look whose here!" Rosie said, a smile coming to her face.
Alexis gurgled happily as she saw her parents, yet Lara-Su stood up and ran towards her father as he held down and the young echidna jumped into his outstretched arms.
"Power Jump!" she yelled and with surprising strength she almost knocked Knuckles over making everyone laugh.
"Oooff!" Knuckles grunted as he felt most of the wind get knocked out of him. "Easy there! Your strength, little one!"
Lara-Su loosened her grip on her father. "Sorry daddy." She squeaked then hugged him a little more gently as Julie-Su knelt down and hugged her daughter.
Megan knelt and scooped Alexis into her arms as the baby girl reached her hands up to her parents. "Hey Lexi! You been a good girl?"
"Hey you!" Elias tickled Alexis under her chin.
"They've been little angels, both of them," said Rosie before she looked at Sally. "Oh my darling Sally!" she trotted over and embraced her former charge. "You're looking beautiful!" She kissed Sally's cheeks as the ground squirrel blushed.
"Hey Nanny Rosie!" she smiled.
"You're blossoming, my darling princess," Rosie said as she felt Sally's bump and gasped with joy as she felt a kick. She then looked up to Sonic and grinned wider. "And my dear Sonic! Daddy to be!"
"Hey there Rosie!" Sonic greeted. "How's everything going?"
"Very well thanks," Rosie replied. "Love watching over the little ones." She looked at Alexis and Lara being embraced by their parents then she put on a mock frown and wagged her finger at the blue hedgehog. "And I can only hope you're looking after my little former charge whilst she's carrying little charges of her own!"
"Oh yeah!" Sonic chuckled yet he rubbed the back of his neck and started to sweat a little. "Most definitely!"
"Glad to hear it!" Rosie said still wagging her finger. "Or you'll have me to answer to!"
"Aww steady there, Nanny Rosie!" Sally laughed stepping over holding up her hands. "Sonic's been amazing! More protective of me than our Knothole days!"
"He certainly has been there for Sally in every possible way he can," Elias cut in as he rocked Alexis in his arms.
"Oh, indeed he has!" Megan added.
"And I believe what I've heard too," Knuckles cut in folding his arms and nodding.
Sonic turned to the Echidna Guardian and his eyes widened. "Whoa, whoa! What do you mean, you believe what you've heard?"
Knuckles snickered as he looked at the hedgehog's panicked look. "News travels fast to Angel Island."
As he said that Lara-Su laughed then started to run in circles with her arms out chanting, "Fast! Fast! Fast!"
"What news?!" Sonic demanded, fearing the worst like something embarrassing or bad.
Knuckles shook his head and decided to put the hedgehog out of his misery. "Oh, you know. When it was announced you were going to marry Sally, then be crowned prince, and to be a father!" he clicked his tongue "We echidnas and residents of Angel Island are close associates of the Kingdom!"
"Oh okay, that's cool then!" Sonic breathed in relief "And here you got me thinking it was something bad!"
"Of course not," Knuckles laughed then looked at Lara-Su who was still running around and chanting. "Calm down kiddo, Lara's showing to be very strong." He rubbed his shoulder where Lara-Su had pounced on him earlier.
"I can see!" Sonic replied. "She's got your strength that's for sure!"
"And from what I can guess," Knuckles said. "Your little ones will inherit their dad's speed. Good luck keeping up with them."
"Oh, that'll be no problem at all!" Sonic grinned.
"You sure about that?" Elias asked cocking his head on one side with a smirk.
"It's hard enough to catch one kid," Knuckles snickered. "Never mind two. And when it comes to your speed, oh boy..."
"Oh, dear yes!" Sally agreed. "And I'll never be able to keep up."
"Oh, trust me!" Sonic said in a confident voice as he smiled at Sally. "Those littles won't be able to outrun me!"
"You say that now," Elias spoke as he cradled Alexis. "When they're not here, but I can almost guarantee it'll be a different story after they're born."
"I agree with Elias," Knuckles added. "Lara-Su sure likes to run when given the chance. It's not just her growing strength we have to deal with."
"Well Sonic will have to worry about the speed when the kids have learnt to walk," said Rosie. "It's the first things he's gonna have to deal with when they're born."
Knuckles then went a little pale. "Oh yeah…Crying all night, diaper changes...Oh and the burping and spitting up after feeding them."
Megan nodded in agreement then saw Sonic raise an eyebrow at the echidna.
"Think you can handle those Hedgehog?" Knuckles challenged as he wagged his eyebrows. "All those sleepless nights, rooms getting stinky, and your clothes stained?"
Elias snickered and Megan and Julie-Su giggled as they saw Sonic's cocky look start to waver a little as the facts were sinking in.
"Man!" Sonic puffed out his chest. "Did you forget who you're talking to? That'll be like a walk in the park!"
Rosie shook her head, chuckling under her breath. "Oh, dear Sonic..."
Sally too shook her head, but she leaned up and kissed her husband's cheek. "It's great to see you confident hun. But don't get too cocky. Even I'm prepared for the worst. In fact, Megan's been giving me lessons in changing nappies and all with Alexis, as she's not yet toilet trained."
"That I have," Megan said, winking at her sister-in-law before looking at Sonic. "I think you might need a little lesson Sonic, to see if you can handle it."
Elias smirked. "Perhaps a small test is in order?"
Rosie's eyes lit up. "Oh yes! I think so!"
Julie-Su nodded then sniffed the air before looking at Alexis who had a bewildered look on her face. "Speak of the devil."
Sally too caught the same smell and she nodded with the look of disgust on her face. "Oh yes...I can smell that..."
"Heh, perfect timing," said Knuckles, holding in a laugh as he looked at Sonic, who went pale as his cockiness started to fade from his face as he too caught the smell in his nostrils.
Elias looked down at Alexis who fidgeted slightly from discomfort at a dirty diaper. "Looks like someone needs to be changed."
"A diaper change and a little nap too," Julie-Su agreed as she looked at Lara-Su, who was sitting on the floor looking at a picture book and rubbing her eyes.
Sally looked at her husband's worried expression and patted his arm. "Aww hun, it's not that bad. You get used to the smell after a while."
Meanwhile, Julie-Su picked up Lara-Su announcing it was time for her nap to which the young echidna whined yet she yawned sleepily.
"Come on little lady," Julie-Su soothed. "It's naptime, but if you ask Aunt Sally nicely, she'll read you a story?"
"Okay mom…" Lara-Su yawned then looked at Sally who walked over as Julie-Su said that. "Story Aunt Sally! Story, Story!"
Julie-Su coughed, a stern look appearing on her face. "What do you say?"
"Please Aunt Sally?" Lara-Su asked.
"Of course!" Sally smiled as she gently pinched Lara-Su's cheek then looked to Sonic who was looking worried as he was about to be thrown into the deep end with nappy changing. "Good luck hun!" she said before going with Julie-Su and Lara into the room next door to settle the young echidna child down.
Sonic watched her go then looked to the others and gulped. 'Oh crud…'
Rosie clapped her hands and beckoned Sonic over to a small table that had all the diaper changing equipment needed as Elias placed Alexis on the plastic changing mat. "Okay Sonic, it's time for Diaper Changing 101!"
"Hmm, can't be that hard," Sonic said as he saw Knuckles and Elias snickering at him, obviously knowing that the poor hedgehog had been put into a situation he was unsure of. Sonic forced a grin, trying to keep up the front of being confident. "I'm all set for this!"
"Let's see what you can do," said Megan.
"It'll be a piece of cake!" Sonic announced as he cracked his knuckles and looked down at Alexis after Rosie had taken off her little dress and she was laying there in just her diaper. He hesitated slightly as he looked at the baby squirrel.
"Well go on then," Knuckles said gesturing with his hands.
"Need help?" Rosie asked concerned.
"Naw, I got this!" Sonic replied as he continued to stare at Alexis. 'At least…I think I do…' he thought to himself as he studied the diaper.
Elias snickered and crossed his arms.
"Hey Kiddo!" Sonic grinned as he waved at Alexis who giggled. "Uncle Sonic's going to have you changed in a flash!" His grin then faded as he tried to think of what to do. 'Oh man…'
"Well Sonic?" Elias asked.
"We're waiting!" Knuckles drawled in the same manner Sonic used to do when he got impatient, yet he yelped as he felt Julie-Su's elbow connect with his chest and saw she had come out of the next room leaving Sally with Lara-Su.
"Hey!" Sonic cried indignantly. "That's my line!"
"I heard that Knuckles!" Sally called from next door.
"Busted!" Julie-Su laughed.
"Knuckles is right," Elias cut in. "We are waiting, including Alexis!"
"That we are!" Megan agreed folding her arms.
'Alright, alright, alright!" Sonic groaned then looked back at Alexis before fumbling with the diaper.
'What the...?' he muttered to himself. 'Do you need some kind of password or key to get this thing off?!'
Elias and Knuckles blinked in wonder as they watched, not believing what they were seeing, and they tried their best to hold in laughs. Knuckles covered his mouth with his mitten hands and Elias pursed his lips, doing all in his power not to burst out in a fit of laughter. Megan, Rosie, and Julie-Su tried to hold in their giggles as Sonic continued to fiddle and fumble with the diaper.
"What?" Sonic asked. "It shouldn't be that hard just to get a diaper off, right? I shouldn't need a manual!"
"No Sonic," Elias chortled. "It's just you're going a bit too fast, slow down and think."
"It's not rocket science!" Julie-Su added.
Megan sighed and pointed to the tabs on the sides of the diaper to which Sonic followed her finger and it clicked. "Oh, I knew that!"
"Did you now?" Elias asked skeptically.
"Come on, Dad to be," Knuckles chuckled.
Sonic took the diaper off fully yet as soon as he did, the smell hit his nostrils harder and he went pale. In fact the hedgehog looked like he was going to faint because the smell was so strong. "Whoa, yikes!"
"Oh Sonic! It's not that bad!" Megan said.
"It's only a bit of poo!" Rosie stated.
"You'll get used to it!" Julie-Su promised.
Elias snickered as he watched Sonic take the smell then hold up the soiled diaper between finger and thumb and drop it in a nearby bin before looking clueless of what to do next until Rosie looked at him.
"Okay! Well done for getting the diaper off and dumped," She said. "Now what do you do?"
"Ummm..." Sonic paused then saw the wipes. "Wipe her down right?"
Megan nodded and winked. "From front to back."
"Okay, front to back!" and he held up Alexis's chubby legs before wiping her down from front to back, all the while Alexis gurgled.
Elias and Knuckles watched, and they started to feel impressed at Sonic as he was wiped Alexis down then dispose of the wipes.
"You're actually doing quite well," Elias said and Knuckles nodded in agreement.
"Not bad for his first try," said the red echidna.
Sonic then looked at the other products on the table in confusion. Then he found the nappy cream thanks to Rosie pointing it out and he daubed it on Alexis's bottom.
Knuckles blinked again. "Am I seeing this?" he asked as he pinched himself. "The hero of Mobius doesn't break a sweat when faced with Robotnik yet is clueless about changing a baby?"
"Hey, hey!" Sonic spat defensively. "Mobotropolis wasn't built in a day, you know! These things take time!"
Elias laughed as he heard that. "Sonic the Hedgehog saying something takes time? Never thought I'd see the day."
"Well, we have," Knuckled added, smirking and crossing his arms over his chest. "And it's going in the record books."
Both fathers laughed again as Sonic picked up the clean diaper and attempted to put it on Alexis as she playfully kicked her legs about.
"Hey! Hold still!" said Sonic as he tried to fasten the diaper, but it was difficult as Alexis kept kicking her feet about.
"Oh dear!" Megan chortled. "I think he's going to need more than a few lessons in Baby Care 101!"
Julie-Su giggled. "Oh definitely more than a few!" She laughed and watched Sonic wrestle with putting the diaper on Alexis a bit longer before going to check on Sally and Lara-Su.
Elias nodded in agreement still trying not to roar with laughter at Sonic struggling.
Sonic grumbled, but eventually he managed to fasten the diaper and Alexis lay on the mat clean and happy. Proud of himself, Sonic turned to the others. "Booya! See what I said? No sweat!"
The others in the room laughed hard at the hedgehog who was dripping with sweat and was slightly red in the face.
"Oh, I'd say there was defiantly a lot of sweat, my dear brother-in-law," Elias pointed out with a grin.
"We got a lot of work to do Sonic!" Rosie chuckled. "It's going to be mandatory Baby Care before your little ones pop out!"
"Oh man, really!?" cried Sonic wiping his brow.
"Yes really," Elias answered.
"Still, you did well for your first try," Megan said approvingly. 'Even though we had to help out.'
"Uh huh!" Rosie agreed. "Well, I'll get him all knowing, then he can do this with his eyes closed."
Elias patted Sonic's back. "Don't worry Sonic. You'll get the hang of it. Knuckles and I had to learn how to do this as well."
Knuckles nodded then turned to the door leading to the next room and decided to check on his daughter. As the Guardian arrived, he smiled softly as he saw a sleepy Lara-Su resting against Sally's swollen stomach feeling for the babies as Sally read a story. She has been telling the story of the Princess and the Mean Witch that she had used to read to Tails back in Knothole. Now Tails was a lot older, Sally missed that special time with the young fox but was really happy to do the same with Lara-Su and eventually to the twins when they arrived.
"Did you enjoy that, Lara?" Sally asked when she finished the story and closed the book.
"Yes, Aunt Sally!" Lara-Su grinned. "You tell the best stories!"
Sally smirked then put on her wicked witch voice. "That I do My Pretty!"
She cackled and Lara-Su laughed. Julie-Su grinned and looked at her husband who couldn't help but smile at the sight as well.
"Did babies enjoy the story too?" Lara-Su asked softly as she stroked Sally's belly.
"I believe so honey," Sally replied. "I felt them moving as I read to you."
Lara-Su grinned then snuggled down in bed.
"She's so good with our Lara," Julie-Su smiled as she watched.
Knuckles nodded in agreement. "She's going to be an amazing mother," he added as he saw Sally tuck Lara-Su in and give her a kiss on the forehead.
Julie-Su kissed Knuckles's cheek then walked over to the bed to give her daughter a nuzzle and Knuckles did the same.
"Goodnight little gem," Julie-Su whispered.
"Sleep tight kiddo," Knuckles added then looked relieved as he was glad his energetic daughter was finally rested. As much as he adored his little girl, she was a handful as any toddler could be.
"That was amazing Sally," Julie-Su looked at the ground squirrel. "You're so good with her!"
Sally blushed. "Thanks. Well, I used to do this a lot with Tails and Cream when they were young, especially since their parents weren't around at the time, having been roboticized."
"And I can see you doing the same for your little ones," said Knuckles.
Sally stroked her stomach proudly then looked towards the door. "How did Sonic get on with Alexis?"
As she asked that question, Knuckles quickly covered his mouth as he tried not to roar with laughter in fear of waking Lara-Su and Julie-Su closed her eyes and bit her lip.
Seeing their reaction Sally looked slightly worried as well as amused. "That bad huh?" she asked to which both Echidnas nodded silently. "Oh my…is it safe to say he's going to need a lot of practice?"
Once again Knuckles and Julie-Su nodded silently.
"Oh dear, Sally sighed then looked at the sleeping Lara-Su. "Come on, let's leave Lara to rest."
The Echidnas were all too happy to agree and followed the princess out of the room where they were greeted by the sight of Sonic holding Alexis in his arms and the little squirrel was dozing and sucking her thumb contently.
"Aww how precious!" Julie-Su exclaimed, and Sally felt a couple of happy tears in her eyes seeing her husband holding Alexis and imagined him holding his twins in the same way.
After a minute, Sonic gently handed Alexis to Rosie who said she would put her down for her nap and the hedgehog saw Sally had emerged from the other room. "Hey you!"
Sally walked up and booped his nose with her finger. "Hey yourself," she said. "I just found out how you got on with changing Alexis."
She giggled and everyone else burst out laughing yet they tried to keep quiet so as not to wake Alexis.
"What did you hear?" Sonic demanded narrowing his eyes at everyone laughing.
Sally smirked. "Only that you need more practice." She stroked her stomach. "With your twins popping out in less than four months, you need to get yourself ready for the dirty work."
"Oh yes!" Megan agreed along with Julie-Su.
Knuckles and Elias snickered and chortled.
"Not to worry Sally dear," Rosie reassured the princess. "I'll be whipping your husband into shape!"
"He'll get it in due time," Elias agreed.
"Oh, he will!" Knuckles said. "He'll have to!"
"I don't doubt that," Sally smiled kissing Sonic's cheek and hugging him. "He's going to be an amazing father."
Sonic smiled back at his wife feeling his confidence return and returned the hug as well as stroked her stomach.
"For sure," said Rosie. "Now, since the girls are going to be napping, why don't you young ones return to your friends and celebrate Rotor and Sir Charles's success?"
"Sounds like a plan to me!" Sonic grinned and the others agreed.
"Thanks so much Rosie," Megan said looking at Rosie.
"Yes, thank you," Sally agreed. "You're a true star looking after the girls."
"Anytime my dears!" Rosie replied as she rocked Alexis.
"We really do appreciate it ma'am," Elias spoke and Knuckles nodded.
"Anything for you!" Rosie winked then went to put Alexis down for her nap.
Sally watched her go then smiled. "She looked after me so well as a child, and I trust her enough to look after mine and Sonic's children." She looked up at Sonic then they walked out of the room together to re-join their friends, Julie-Su, Knuckles, Elias and Megan following them.
"So how did it go with Lara?" Sonic asked.
"She's sleeping like a baby," Knuckles replied. "I have to say, your wife has a real gift when it comes to settling our little livewire."
"That she does," Julie-Su agreed. "I was very impressed."
Knuckles then smirked. "If young Tails were here, I'd bet the Master Emerald he'd be right there with Lara listening to you princess."
Sally smiled fondly. "He might be a lot older now and a tutor to the young ones," she said. "But he still calls me Aunt Sally and enjoys the old funny kiss."
Sonic chuckled. "In your eyes, he'll always be that little fox we looked after and took care of huh?"
"Oh yes true that," Sally smiled. "He's come such a long way, and he's caring for kids himself now, educating them to the best of his abilities."
"Him and Amy," Knuckles grinned.
Before long, the two sets of parents and the parents to be arrived back at the chamber room where they saw everyone was relaxing and helping themselves to a buffet and drinks that had been provided for them for after the presentation was over.
Sonic's eyes widened. "Look at this! They got the party started without us!"
At Sonic's voice, everyone looked over.
"There you are!" said Rotor.
"Where ya'll been?" Bunnie demanded.
"Yeah! The party's just getting started!" Amy squealed.
Sally laughed and waved her hand. "Sorry everyone. We were just checking on the kids."
"Oh, and how are they?" Tails asked.
"They're both well," Elias replied. "They're resting now."
"Yeah, thank goodness!" Knuckles added.
Amy laughed. "Has Lara been a bit boisterous?"
Knuckles nodded with a sigh.
"Quite a handful, huh?" Tails laughed.
"That she is," Julie-Su said. "But she's our little Angel."
Knuckles nodded and agreed.
Rouge rubbed her chin in thought. "Hmmm. If Lara's an energetic one, it makes you curious with what the royal twins will be like when they reach her age."
"Oh Oui!" Antoine spoke up. "I wonder indeed mademoiselle!"
"Perhaps running all over the place like their father would," Elias quipped.
"That I can imagine!" Mina agreed.
"Hey! I resent that!" Sonic cried looking at his brother-in-law.
"Oh, come on Sonic!" Rotor laughed. "You know good and well that's exactly how you were when we were kids!"
"Oh yes I remember," Sally giggled. "Speeding around like mad."
"Don't we all!" Rotor added.
"Yeah, yeah laugh it up!" Sonic groaned. "If they do, then they'll just be chips off the ol' block!"
"Just what we need," Julie-Su quipped. "Two more Sonic's running around."
"Oh dear…" Knuckles murmured.
"Two more Sonics?" Shadow looked a little sick. "Oh no…"
Rouge caught sight of her GUN partner's pale look and laughed almost spitting out her drink as she did. "Can you imagine that?" she teased to which Shadow frowned.
"If that's the case…oh boy…" the black hedgehog replied as he imagined two twin blue hedgehogs running amok.
"Two Sugar-Hogs, or two Sally-Girls, or one or the other!" Bunnie spoke up. "I can't wait to meet them!"
"Same here cousin!" Cream grinned at Bunnie. "I'm so excited!"
"So, we didn't miss anything did we?" Sonic asked deciding to change the subject.
"Nope!" Amy said. "Just getting started!"
"Yeah!" Rotor agreed. "The party never starts without you guys!"
"Aww thanks!" Sally smiled.
"You got that right!" said Sonic. "A party is no party without this hedgehog!"
Sonic gestured a thumb to himself proudly and Shadow rolled his eyes. "Oh brother..." he mumbled.
A cough soon got Sonic's attention and the blue hedgehog prince looked over to see Max in his wheelchair with Alicia pushing it, and Jules and Bernadette standing with them. Sally felt concerned seeing her father now resorting to his wheelchair, but she knew why given his rheumatism. Everyone else looked worried seeing the King looking more frail and tired. He had been through so much in his life, especially those years in the void and it had taken its toll on the King.
Sally knelt to her father. "Are you okay daddy?"
"I'm alright Bean," Max soothed. "My rheumatism's getting bad…"
Alicia sighed softly as she massaged her husband's shoulders. "They've been coming a lot more often as of late."
"It could be worse," Max scoffed. "Like turning into crystal, but anyways..." he turned his attention to the others. "We old ones will be retiring, and we hope you young ones have fun!"
The Freedom fighters smiled excitedly, and Sonic was about to say something when he saw Max's face turn more serious than before.
"Although!" the King spoke in a sharp tone and Sonic bit his lip, yet he tried to look innocent. Max frowned as he saw the look on the hedgehog's face. "I think you know what I'm referring to?" he asked wagging his finger at the hedgehog and Bernadette folded her arms looking at her son with a playful frown.
"Huh?" Sonic asked with a shrug. "What did I do?"
The Freedom Fighters all looked slightly confused but then they realized what Max was talking about.
"Ah I think I know now!" Bunnie said.
Rouge sniggered and folded her arms. "Oh dear, was our future king a naughty boy?"
Shadow looked at Sonic who was starting to go pink and smirked. "I'd like to know that myself."
Amy giggled at Sonic's face and Mina bit her lip embarrassed as the memories came to everyone.
~Flashback - Four Years Ago~
The sun rose high in the sky one late summer morning and shone down on the Castle of Acorn. As the beams shone through one of the windows, the figures inside started to stir It was one of the smaller ballrooms in the palace and it was in terrible disarray, there were empty bottles of booze as well as glasses all over the place, along with half eaten food on the tables and some even on the walls and the floor too. But the food and bottles and broken plates weren't the only things that littered the room as sprawled on the sofas, on sleeping bags and even on the tables were the Freedom Fighters all half asleep or passed out from having partied too hard.
It was the morning after Sonic and Sally's coronation and the newly crowned prince and princess had been allowed to throw a feast and party for their friends since this was one of the only biggest celebrations in their lives not counting the celebration of Robotnik's defeat in Knothole or their wedding.
As the sun lit up the room, everyone started to wake up and found themselves feeling ill with massive hangovers or having ate too much.
"Sacru Bleu!" Antoine gasped as he rubbed his forehead "I is having bad head!"
"Ugghhh, I feel awful!" Amy moaned as she sat up from having passed out on her sleeping bag.
"You should talk!" Mina spluttered as she felt her hair as well as saw a bucket next to her full of vomit and some of it had gotten into her hair "Oh yuck! That's the last time I eat Sloppy Joes!"
A couple of grunts were heard as Rotor fell off the sofa he had been sleeping on and Tails looked up from laying on a table and had bits of food stuck to him.
"oooohhhhwhee!" Bunnie said as she sat up from her sleeping bag on the floor "I think I just went through a Knothole! Oh wait..." she said as she looked around and remembered where she was.
Sally meanwhile opened her eyes and rubbed her head and saw Sonic snoring next to her, she looked around and she soon saw all the Freedom Fighters still asleep or just stirring, and she gasped in shock as she saw the mess. Yet she didn't have time to process how or why it had happened when the door opened, and Max walked in making her eyes widen in shock.
As the King walked in, he gasped at the chaos of what used to be a small ballroom. "What in the name of Mobius went on in here!?"
"Uh oh!" Bunnie spoke and Sally nudged Sonic waking him up from his comatose state.
"Sonic!" Sally hissed. "Sonic! Wake up!"
Sonic opened his eyes and sat up shaking his quills that were a mess. "Oh man...Anyone get the license plate of that bus?"
Max growled and strode around the room shaking everyone awake. "Wake up! Wake up, all of you!"
As he did so, Tails rolled off the table and landed in a mess of food that had fallen on the floor. Sonic blinked then he saw the mess and went pale. "Uh oh…" he groaned and looked at Sally who was looking guilty and pale.
As Max shook the last of the Freedom Fighter awake, he stood before them all and folded his arms. "Now then, It appears we all learnt a lesson here. Anyone care to tell me what that lesson is?"
"Never…ever…" Sonic began. "...put ice cream on chili dogs..."
As he said that, many of the Freedom Fighters nodded in agreement. Sally put her head in her hand and Mina turned to the bucket and spewed up again.
Max rolled his eyes and looked at everyone. "What in the name of Acorn happened here?"
Sonic looked around. "It looks like we partied a bit too hard last night."
"I'll say!" Tails agreed.
"Partied?" Max exclaimed as he threw his arms up in the air. "This is Chaos! Look at this room!"
"Oh my stars..." Bunnie said in shock as she looked around whilst Sally looked ashamed.
"I thought you kids had matured after your days as Freedom Fighters!" Max said, frowning. "And what do I find? Looks like you've had food fights, spilt beverages and…" He paused as he looked up to the high ceiling and saw what looked like footprints. "What the? How did those get up there!?"
Everyone else looked up and their eyes widened at the sight of the footprints.
"Yeah!" Sonic spoke raising an eyebrow. "How did those get up there?"
"Beats me!" Tails slurred.
"Oh dear..." Sally said quietly as she recognized the footprints and looked at her husband, everyone else slowly looking at him as well.
Max looked at the footprints then at his son-in-law and glared. "I think I know exactly how those got up there!"
Sonic gulped slightly.
'I recognize those footprints Sonic!" Max glowered. "Did you attempt to loop de loop in this room?"
Sonic scratched his head as he tried to remember. "Hmmm, did I? Man real talk, I can barely remember last night, must have been a real wild one."
Sally couldn't help but sigh as she heard her husband continue to dig an even deeper grave for himself. "Sonic..."
"I see…" Max growled, nearly at his wit's end at his son-in-law's antics.
Sally decided to speak up in an attempt to calm her father down. "Don't be mad at Sonic, please daddy..."
"Yeah!" Amy added also coming to Sonic's defense. "We all had a part to play so you can't blame him entirely!"
And soon the other Freedom Fighters joined in defending Sonic.
Max glowered again and was about to speak when Alicia walked in, and she saw the mess as well as the guilty Freedom Fighters and a furious looking Max.
"Oh dear…" she murmured as she stood next to her husband and the Freedom Fighters looked even more pale and worried at what the queen was going to say.
"Hmm," Alicia mused. "It would seem things certainly got out of hand last night."
"That they did, yes!" Max agreed, the angry expression still on his face.
Alicia looked around at the mess of food, bottles as well as Sonic's footprints on the ceiling and she started to chuckle much to everyone's amazement.
"Oh my!" said the queen as she looked at the footprints. "That must have taken some skill!"
Sonic bit his lip and looked from side to side nervously.
"Yes skill," Max growled as he motioned with his head towards Sonic. "As well as someone not thinking or under the influence!"
Sally looked at Sonic and squeezed his hand.
"And it would seem everyone here falls into that category for the moment!" Alicia stated with a playful frown putting her hands on her hips.
Max nodded then saw his wife chuckle then laugh. "Alicia? You find this amusing?"
Alicia looked at Max. "In a sense yes. I'll admit they did go overboard but dear, they were celebrating a joyous occasion."
Max looked at his wife with an incredulous look before sighing. "Yes, I suppose so..."
Sonic too was a little shocked. "Huh? Mama, erm I mean, Ma'am? You're not mad?"
"You think we might have dodged a bullet?" Mina whispered to Amy.
"I hope so..." Amy replied.
Alicia looked at her husband and took his hand. "Don't be too hard on them dear. The important thing is that they're all okay and that there's nothing broken."
Max took a breath and squeezed his wife's hand back. "True. Nothing is broken, if not a little messy. The cleaners aren't going to enjoy this…"
A sigh of relief was soon heard around the room and Alicia smiled.
"A little messy yes, but it'll take a little bit more elbow grease to clean is all. To be young, remember those days love?" she asked as she looked at Max.
Everyone looked at Max wondering what the King was going to say, then they saw his tense shoulders slump and he sighed with a nod.
"I suppose I can let them off the hook here." he said to which everyone smiled in relief. "But!" he said in a deep voice to which everyone straightened up and looked serious. "I don't want to see a repeat of this! Do I make myself clear?"
"Crystal clear!" Amy piped up.
"We promise!" Mina added and Tails nodded in agreement.
"Yeah! For sure!" Sonic quipped. "We give you our word pops, I mean sir!"
"For sure!" Bunnie spoke.
"Oui! Oui!" Antoine cut in and everyone else followed suit.
"I'm holding you to that!" Max growled as he wagged his finger at everyone.

Rouge was bewildered as she looked at Sonic. "Oh my gosh, are you serious?!"
"Yep!" the blue hedgehog replied. "I remember it was yesterday. Mama pretty much saved our asses that day!"
"Yes, she did, lucky for us," Sally agreed.
"Let's just say we all learnt something that day," Rotor spoke up and everyone murmured in agreement.
"Oh, I would have loved to have seen that!" Rouge laughed.
"Heh, I have to say I would have to," Shadow said, a small hint of a grin on his face.
"Anyways," Max spoke. "As I said before, I don't want a repeat of what happened last time!"
"I'm sure they can be trusted," Bernadette reassured the King before looking at her son, narrowing her eyes at him. "Right Sonic?"
Sonic shuddered a little at his mother's gaze as that was the same look, she would give him when she warned him as a little boy not to be naughty. "Y-Yeah!" he stuttered. "Absolutely! Won't happen again! Hedgehog's honor!"
Jules nodded and folded his arms. "That's what we want to hear. We'll hold you to that son."
Sally meanwhile hugged her father. "I'll keep him in check, daddy. He's going to be a father, after all. He's going to have to straighten up and fly right."
Max couldn't help but smile as he heard his daughter speak those words and he hugged her back. "I trust you, my little Bean."
Rouge chortled at the sight of Sonic getting told off and Shadow smirked as he sipped his drink.
"What a sight," said the black hedgehog. "Seeing the prince get not only a chewing out from his parents, but also his in-laws."
"I know right?" Rouge giggled. "Rich huh?"
Sally let go of her father, gave her mother a kiss, then stood next to her husband who wrapped an arm around her.
"Well enjoy yourselves kids!" Bernadette said with a smile before narrowing her eyes at them like how she did with her son. "And remember, what we said to Sonic, that goes for all of you!"
"Yes, Lady Hedgehog!" Amy said.
"Yes Ma'am!" Mina nodded and everyone else agreed in unison.
The elders, now feeling confident that they could trust the younglings decided to leave the room and Sonic looked at his wife.
"Yeah, we sure did get into trouble there, but that was one heck of a day!" he laughed as he kissed Sally's temple.
"For sure hun," Sally smiled and kissed her husband back.
"And we have many more days like that to come!" Sonic grinned. "Well without the getting drunk off our butts' part!"
Sally shook her head and chortled as she agreed.
It was true, it had been a great day and they had celebrated hard after all they had gone through during the war with Robotnik and they had every right to be so happy and celebrate the night away and she knew that she, Sonic and their friends would get the chance to have more exciting times, although until she gave birth she would have to be careful, but she didn't want to take a single day for granted and make the most out of every day that passed. Pushing those thoughts aside, Sally began to join in the festivities with her family and friends, all of them celebrating Rotor and Sir Charles's groundbreaking invention that would no doubt be a huge asset for all of Mobius for generations to come.
