This isn't beta'd. Any mistakes are my own.
Bella floated back to consciousness when she felt the familiar cold skin drifting up and down her bare shoulder.
"It's time to wake, my sleeping beauty," Edward whispered in her ear.
She shifted so that she was on her back and opened her eyes to look up at him.
She smiled sleepily, "I thought last night was just a really amazing dream," She told him.
He leaned down to press his mouth to hers greedily, "I can't wait to do that again," He replied as she caught her breath.
She giggled, intoxicated by the presence of Edward, and wrapped her heavy arms around his neck. She clung to him as she kissed him hungrily again rocking her hips against his.
"Bella," He growled lowly in his throat.
She rolled her hips slowly and then pulled back to run her tongue up his throat. He went rigid underneath her and she could feel his erection pressing into her stomach. It made her moan as she nipped and bit at his jaw. He said her name again in warning before sitting back on his knees.
She blinked innocently up at him, "What did I do?" She asked with a smirk.
He shook his head at her, "Do you want to be late for school?" He demanded.
She sat up, her hair a tangled mess around her head, and stretched. Edward watched her with hooded eyes that made her shiver.
"The things I want to do to you," He told her before standing smoothly.
She slid her tongue across her bottom lip and felt herself go warm, "Prove it," She challenged and opened her legs to him.
He blew out a puff of air and helped her to her feet, "If you want to shower before school you better do it soon," He commented.
"Hmm, maybe you should join me, just to make sure I'm extra clean," She suggested sweetly.
He studied her for a second and held her gaze as he pulled his shirt over his head. He tilted his head at her in a way of saying 'your turn'. Bella got the hint and ripped her tank top off quickly. She stood before him, topless, and let his eyes float over her.
"Bella," He breathed, "I've never seen anything so beautiful."
Bella went warm all and she kicked her panties off; standing naked in front of him. He licked his lips and swallowed roughly. If he had a heart it would be thundering in his ears.
He raised a brow as his eyes found her tattoo, "A tattoo?" He questioned, his tone one of surprise.
She rolled her eyes, "Yeah, my mom made me get a matching one with her, something about it protecting me," She replied.
He took a step towards her and let his fingers smooth down the dark ink on her pale skin, "No one is here," He told her and then darted out of his room and toward the bathroom.
"Hey!" She shouted with a laugh behind him and raced after him.
He turned the shower on and then stuck his hand under the water to check the temperature. He wasn't that great with telling the difference since it all felt the same to him so he faced Bella again.
"Will you check and make sure it's how you like it?" He asked; nodding towards the shower.
She grinned at him and he swore if he had a heart it would have flipped, "I like it hot," She warned and stuck her hand in and turned the faucet almost completely to the left.
The water felt warm even to Edward's frozen skin and he stared at her in alarm, "This will burn you, Bella," He told her.
She shook her head, "I like it," She said and stepped into the water.
The hot water turned her pale skin red and Edward smoothed a cold hand across her heated back.
"Hmm," She sighed as she closed her eyes and leaned towards him.
He slid his fingers down her quivering stomach and made contact with the softest of skin. She moaned and pushed her ass into his groin. He pressed against her and shuddered violently, in war with himself. He wanted to push her against the shower wall and fuck her but he couldn't lose control. Never with her. He could never hurt her, it would destroy him. His skilled fingers brought her to climax quickly and when she sagged against him, he did everything in his power to still himself.
She turned in his arms and kissed him roughly, still in a orgasm fog. She stood on her tip toes and pushed herself against his dick. His hands grabbed her hips roughly and held her still. She wiggled out of his hold and dropped to her knees before him. He groaned, deep in his chest, and shook his head to protest but she had him in her mouth already. His orgasm was quick and violent.
After they left the shower, cleaning themselves quickly, he checked her over for injuries.
"I'm fine, Edward, I love it when you're rough with me," She assured him with a playful wink.
He shook his head at her, "You're going to be the death of me, you know," He accused.
She ran a towel roughly over her hair, smiling at him, "But it would be the best death, hey, do you have a hair dryer by chance?" She wondered as her eyes moved around the large bathroom.
He bent and pulled an expensive looking hair dryer from under the sink before handing it to her.
"Thanks," She said and smacked a kiss to his lips loudly.
He stared at her in amazement. He had never felt this way about another person. He could feel his entire being be consumed by this small human girl and it amazed him. He never in a million years thought he would have what his family had; with a human no less. For the first time in almost ninety years, he was happy.
As if Bella was the mind reader she looked at him from the mirror and tilted her head, "Are you happy, Edward?" She asked him.
He startled and wondered if she could read minds but collected himself, "With you? Very much. I have never been happier, Bella. I don't know if I'll ever be as happy as I am when I'm with you," He told her honestly.
Her cheeks flushed in that way he loved and she smiled almost shyly at him, "I'm so happy too, more happy than I've ever been, before, I felt like I was just walking through life and now it feels like the best dream," She replied.
They held each other's gaze for another second before she broke it and turned the hair dryer on.
Grinning at her, Edward turned away and left her in the bathroom to finish her hair.
Bella blow dried her hair lazily as she stared at her rosy face in the mirror. She knew in her heart she was in love with Edward but she wasn't sure how long she'd wait before she'd tell him. She was nervous he might not feel the same, though the way he looked at her told her he might feel the same. Her thoughts drifted towards her dad. She felt scared for what was happening with him. She didn't know how to help him.
She gnawed on her bottom lip while she thought of her options. She would call her mom and see if she had any suggestions, she finally decided. Her mom might give her ridiculous advice but maybe something would actually be useful. Satisfied with her plan, she turned off the blow dryer and finished dressing.
She came out of the bathroom and Edward looked her up and down in appreciation.
"You look beautiful," He told her.
She felt herself get warm and smiled shyly at him, "Thanks; you always look amazing," She replied.
He rolled his eyes at her playfully and then held his hand out to her. She slipped hers into his without a second thought and they walked down the stairs together. Edward opened the car door for her and brushed his hand across her ass teasingly. She smirked and shook her head at him. Jazz played quietly around them as he drove them towards the school.
Bella was quiet for a second before she looked at him, "Edward," She started but hesitated.
He looked over at her with soft eyes, "Bella?" He responded playfully, dying to know what she was thinking.
"Do you… do you believe in true love?" She wanted to know.
He watched as her fingers played with the hem of her blue blouse. He loved that color against her fair skin, it made her glow. He drummed his fingers against his steering wheel softly and waited for her to make eye contact with him.
When she did, he spoke. "I do; I believe in love at first sight and all of the other romantic notions."
She grinned at him and nodded, "I was just wondering what your thoughts were on it, my parents are obviously divorced so I wasn't sure how I would feel about someone being the love of your life since it didn't work out for mine," She rambled.
"Perhaps Phil is your mother's true love?" He offered with raised brows.
Bella shrugged, "I don't know, for his sake, I hope he is, he's a really nice guy and he genuinely seems to love my mom, I can't say for sure with her, she's always been flighty," She said honestly.
He locked their fingers together and squeezed gently, "You are not your parents though, Bella," He told her.
Bella stroked her thumb across Edward's hard skin, "I know, I just worried that I would never find that kind of deep relationship and I craved it, I wanted to be able to have what they never did when I was a child, stability and love and patience," She explained.
"I thought the same, all of my family members had that and I never thought it would happen for me, I still feel like this is a dream," He teased.
She chuckled, "If it is, I hope we never wake up," She whispered.
"Never," He agreed and brought their tangled hands up to press his lips to her knuckles.
After a long day at school where everyone stared at Bella and Edward, Bella finally went back to her house to check on her dad.
Edward kissed her long and hard before pulling away and stroking her bottom lip with his thumb, "Will you call me later?" He asked.
She felt lightheaded and blinked slowly at him, "Of course, baby," She teased, her face warm.
He grinned at her and then watched her get out and skip to her front door. He stayed in his car; staring at the house for a few silent minutes before his phone rang.
"Alice," He greeted without looking at the caller ID.
"She's fine, Edward, I see her cleaning the house and then going for a run later," Alice assured him.
He released the breath he didn't realize he was holding, "Thank you, Ali," He said softly.
"Anything for you, Edward," She replied.
"Is Carlisle home?" He wondered.
"He's in his office; waiting for you," She answered.
He hummed, "I'll see you shortly then," He told her and then disconnected.
He listened to Bella move around in the house for another second before leaving.
When Bella opened the front door, she knew something was wrong.
The house was dark and when she went to turn a light on, she found the light bulbs broken. Annoyed, she moved around the house and opened blinds. She could finally see the mess that littered the floor.
"What the fuck?" She grumbled as she looked at the trash scattered everywhere.
It looked as if a tornado had hit the house. Her first thought was that someone had broken in but she hadn't noticed any forced entry. She was preplexed.
Sighing heavily, she got to work cleaning up the mess. In the kitchen, she found rotting food on the floor. She gagged at the smell but tossed everything in garbage bags. After turning on some music, she mopped the floors and wiped the counters down. Cleaning relaxed her and by the time the sun had set, she was finished. She was sweaty as she found some extra light bulbs in the hall closet. She replaced all the broken ones and then went upstairs. She peered into her dad's room but it was obvious he hadn't been there all day. She noticed a smell and scrunched up her nose. Blech. She decided she'd tackle it tomorrow, tonight she wanted to run.
She changed into her running outfit quickly and then yanked her hair up into a messy bun on the way back downstairs. Edward had given her his silver I-Pod to listen to and she eagerly popped her headphones in and went out the front door. She turned the device on and hit play. Jazz filled her ears and she ran to Miles Davis. The cool air whipped around her and she felt as if she could fly as she rounded the corner. She had to admit that Washington was growing on her. It was beautiful in a melancholic and gloomy sort of way. With the jazz in her ears and the green surrounding her, she felt peaceful. She felt as if she belonged there.
When she opened the front door again, the house was silent. Something made her uneasy and her skin crawled. She shook off that feeling as she climbed the stairs towards the bathroom. She showered as quickly as possible, eager to call Edward and hear his voice again. Her heart raced and she smiled at herself in the foggy mirror. She darted to her bedroom in her towel and changed into her pajamas before finally calling Edward.
"Hi, beautiful," He greeted after the first ring.
She flushed, "Hi, I miss you," She blurted.
Why did her brain always malfunction when she talked to him?
He chuckled in her ear, "I miss you too, Bella," He assured her.
"So, how was the rest of your night after you dropped me off?" She asked as she sat cross legged on her bed.
"Oh you know, boring without you here," He replied with a teasing tone.
She giggled, "Mine too, I cleaned the house, it was a total wreck, shit everywhere and all the lights were smashed, Charlie's not here either, hasn't been here all day," She told him.
There was a brief pause, "Can I come over?" He asked her; keeping his voice calm and even.
She smiled, "Of course, I'll probably be home alone all night, he didn't even leave me a note," She complained.
"Maybe he's with a friend?" He suggested.
"Maybe," She said shrugging.
"I'll be there in ten minutes, is that okay?" He wondered.
"Yeah, I'm not doing anything," She told him.
They spoke for another few minutes before hanging up. Bella looked around her room; making sure it was tidy. She was shoving some clothes into her hamper when she heard a loud thud from downstairs. Thinking it was her dad, she went down the stairs two at a time.
"Dad? Are you home?" She called on the way down.
There was no answer and when she reached the kitchen, she saw the basement door ajar. She stared at it for a long second; trying to remember if it was like that earlier when another thud sounded. It was loud, causing her to jump, and came from the basement.
She shook her head as her heart thudded, "Of course," She muttered.
She grabbed a flashlight and a steak knife before she quietly made her way down the basement stairs. She tried to control her loud breathing but it was no use. Her breathes were heavy as she was her heart as she descended into darkness. The yellow beam from the flashlight only showed her so much as she looked around the concrete room. Movement to her right caused her to swing around and her light hit red glowing eyes.
She startled, jerking back, but didn't make a sound. She thought it was an animal at first but quickly realized it wasn't. It stood from behind a box and towered over her. Her breath quickened, on the verge of a panic attack, but she didn't move. She was frozen in place; staring. The creature moved towards her and it looked familiar to her. She looked harder and gasped.
"Dad?" She finally spoke.
Her dad flinched away at the sound of her voice.
"Oh God, oh no, dad, what's happened?" She asked as her eyes filled with tears.
He looked away from her, ashamed, "Bella, leave," He growled.
She jerked, "What? Leave? Leave you? Like this? No! Let me help me! We can fix this! Please, dad! I just got you back!" She cried.
He shook his pale, bald head, "It's too late; it's not safe for you around me, I'm hungry, all the time, it's all I think about," He said in a gravely voice.
"I'm not leaving you! I won't! What happened to you?" She demanded.
"Out in the woods, in that cave, something attacked me, something not human, a creature of darkness, of evil, I share the same curse now," He told her; taking a step back.
"There has to be a cure! A way to fix it!" She yelled, moving towards him.
"No, Bella! Leave! I can't control myself anymore! I need to feed or else I become mad!" He warned her.
Still, she moved closer, "Daddy, please," She begged, the tears falling down her cheeks.
Compelled by her sadness, he moved towards her. He wrapped her in his arms and held her warm body to him. He closed his eyes; listening to the blood move through her veins. He pushed away from her, startled by his horrible thoughts.
"No," He told the voice inside his head.
She put her hand on his. She needed him to see that he was still there, he was still her dad.
She felt his long fingers wrap around her upper arm, his claws digging into her delicate flesh, before he violently shoved her away from him. In the process, his claws tore her arm open and blood poured to the floor.
She let out a pained gasp of pain and then watched in horror as her dad fell to the ground and lapped up her blood.
"Leave! Now!" He snarled so loudly the house shook.
She could no longer see him clearly as the tears blurred her vision. She backed away; still staring at him as he made loud slurping sounds. Her feet hit the basement stairs; creaking them loudly in the near silent room. Her dad looked up; staring at her like a hungry animal. She prepared herself to run but he was already on top of her.
He bared his sharp fangs at her, blood and spit dripping on her face.
"Dad, please, I love you," She bawled.
It seemed to snap him out of his trance but before he could say anything, there was a loud crashing sound and Charlie was thrown across the room.
Edward stood between Bella and Charlie, crouched in attack mode.
"You dare harm her?" Edward growled at Charlie.
Charlie shook his head in a daze, "Get her out of here; don't let her return! It's not safe! I can't control it!" His voice strained.
Edward bared his teeth at Charlie in warning, a growl in his throat, before scooping Bella into his arms.
"No! Dad!" Bella wailed, struggling against Edward as he flew up the stairs.
Her vision flickered as her arm continued to bleed everywhere.
"It's going to be okay, baby," Edward tried to soothe her as he grabbed a kitchen towel and tied it tightly around her arm.
"Edward," She whimpered; burying her face in his shirt.
He made a shushing sound, "I've got you, baby," He said gently as the sound of her pounding heart filled his ears.
The last thing Bella heard before losing consciousness was a heart-wrenching howl of agony.
