Alex Adrian Ferreria pushed open the doors to the Raccoon City Police Department. The amber-skinned veteran police officer of only two years was a former officer of the Dallas Police Department. He had enjoyed his first two years as a cop but had to move to Raccoon City since his girlfriend had relatives here and wanted to go back home. She had been begging and pleading with him to move with her. He had been somewhat reluctant since he had been living in the Lone Star State for most of his life. He didn't know if he'd fit in with the Midwestern crowd.
Alex, however, wanted to support his loving girlfriend and decided to go along with her request.
The police station was bustling with officers and clerk workers going about their business.
Alex then walked up to and placed his hands on the desk. "Hi. My name is Alexander Ferreria. I'm a new recruit for the department."
The desk clerk shot the young officer a curious look. He frowned. Well damn. He's a young one. And judging from his complexion..he's either Mexican or some other kind of ethnicity. Great. That's all we need. Another one meant to fill the quota. The older desk clerk just faked a smile. "Pleasure to have you on the force, kid. Where are you from?"
Alex answered the man's question in a matter-of-fact tone. "I'm from Dallas. It's a metropolis down in northeastern Texas. I moved here to the American Midwest in order to support my girlfriend. She has family in the city."
The clerk, a man by the name of Brian Wilson, just nodded. He then booted up the old computer in front of him and searched for Alexander's name in the RCPD database. "Okay. I see you are in our database. 2 years in the DPD. Very green. Exceptional scores. You're being slated for the Special Tactics and Rescue Service's Alpha Squad. You are ordered to report to Cpt. Wesker for debriefing."
Alex just nodded. "Sure. No problem."
Brian then pulled a couple of things out of his desk. One of them was a shiny golden new police badge. It had the words Raccoon City Police Department and had a red and white Red Cross sign in the middle. Under the Red Cross sign was an engraving with the words Special Tactics and Rescue Service in slim black lettering.
The other item was a police uniform. It was quite bulky and had a badge with a star in the middle on the back of it. Under that were the words R.P.D. in hard, white lettering.
' The last item was a custom Beretta 92F with a black attachable holster.
Alex then attached the holster to his hip and slid the pistol in. He then went into the S.T.A.R.S locker room to change.
Once he was changed into his civilian clothes, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned and saw a beautiful young woman smiling at him. She was fair skinned, had short and brunette hair that curled nicely around her face, along striking blue eyes that could stare into a man's soul. She was dressed in a light blue tube top that had the S.T.A.R.S insignia on the right sleeve and a pair of blue-green cargo pants and black boots. There were also shoulder pads and a green beret on her head. Her bust was accentuated by the police ensemble.
Alex raised an eyebrow at her. "Can I help you with something?"
Jill just smiled sweetly at him. "You're Ferraria right? The new S.T.A.R.S recruit."
Alex just nodded blankly and nervously chuckled. "Yeah. That's me. The new guy."
Jill half-smiled at him and offered a hand. "The name's Jill Valentine. I'm also on Alpha Squad."
She let out a chuckle. I..sort of grew up here in Raccoon City. It's a pleasure to meet you. Hopefully we have some free time one day and I can show you around our fair city." She then put two fingers under her chin. "Your accent seems different. You're not from around here are you?"
Alex just shook his head.. "Ah...no. I am not. I'm from Texas actually. Well...Dallas to be exact."
Jill's eyes widened. "Dallas. Isn't that where President Kennedy got shot?"
Alex rolled his eyes at the woman's lack of knowledge about his hometown. He then let out a sigh. "Yes. The one and only."
Jill took note of the annoyed tone in the man's voice. Ah. He probably gets that a lot. I should probably keep that fact to myself. She then smiled at him apologetically. "I...apologize. Whenever we hear or learn about Dallas...the Kennedy assassination is usually the only thing brought up."
Alex just closed his eyes and rubbed at his temples. "Don't...worry about it. I'm used to people bringing that up."
Jill nodded, put a hand on her hip. half-smirked, and spoke in a perky tone. "So what brings you to our little small town?"
Alex cleared his throat and just shrugged. "My girlfriend has family here. She was getting rather homesick and wanted to come back home. I..decided to come along to support her. I really didn't leave that much behind."
Jill crossed her arms at him and nodded approvingly. "I see. That's very admirable of you. I'm sure she appreciates your decision." She then eyed him curiously. "How long have the two of you been together?"
Alex looked at her and shrugged. "About two years. We met in college."
Jill looked at him with an admirable look in her eyes. "Aww that's sweet. You two were college sweethearts. Do I know her? This town is quite small after all."
Alex then shrugged. "Does the name Alison Coulier mean something to you?" Jill's eyes widened and she let out a gasp.
"Alison Coulier? Yes. I know her. We graduated from Raccoon City High together. We were best friends and we were on the cheerleading squad together! Oh my god! What a small world!"
Alex let his shoulders relax for a moment. Okay. So she knows Alison. This will make our interactions easier. I'll have to ask about her when I talk to Alison tonight.
Chris then slammed his hand on the locker and loudly cleared his man was dressed in his usual uniform with fingerless gloves. There was a half-grin on the man's face. "Well well what do we have here? You must be the new kid from Texas. I'm Chris. Chris Redfield. It's a pleasure to meet you." He then offered a hand.
Jill sent him a scathing look. "Hey asshole! I was having a conversation! You are being rude!"
Chris flashed a half-smile at her. "Hey now. You can't be the only one hogging all the fun. I wanted to introduce myself as well."
Jill scoffed and rolled her eyes. He thinks he's all that. Chris is such a prick sometimes. She then sent Alex an apologetic look and rested a hand on Alex's shoulder. "I'm sorry. That's Chris! He's..a bit of handful."
Alex shook his head and smiled at her. "No worries."
He then glanced at Chris and forced a smile. What an asshole! Well not everyone has to be likable. The pleasure is all mine Chris. Good to be on the team."
Barry then walked up to them and spoke in a gruff tone. "What seems to be all the commotion here?"
Chris then put a hand on the older man's shoulder. "Just giving the new guy a warm welcome."
The bearded man then stared at Chris for a moment. " New blood?"
He then glanced at Alex quizzically and his eyes widened in realization "Ah. You must be Ferraria. The new kid." He then extended a hand. "Barry Burton. I'm the backup and the arms supplier of the team. I'm also the pilot."
Alex nodded and then shook the man's hand. "Pleasure."
S.T.A.R.S Briefing Room, Raccoon City Police Department, Raccoon City
About two hours later
Captain Wesker pushed up the black sunglasses on the blonde looked on with a stoic look on his face and spoke in a monotone tone. "As you all know, we have added a new member to Alpha Team. Officer Alexander Ferraria. He's a transplant from the Dallas Police Department and will provide extra security for our small squad. Please make him feel welcome."
Jill glanced at Alex, smiled, and began clapping.
The rest of the team then followed suit.
Chris smirked at Alex. It'll be good to have some backup. God knows we need it over here.
Alex cleared his throat, bowed, and let out a deep breath. "Thank you all. I'm honored to be a part of this team." He felt a bit of sweat down his brow. I hope I can be up to the task. Flashes of what happened at Goliath Station played in his mind like a long nightmare. His fists tightened as a response to the sudden replay of his traumatic memories. He began to shake a bit.
