I don't own any of this Loud House belongs to Nickelodeon.
Story is hugely inspired by TV programs like; Aftermath: Population Zero and Life After People.
The sun rose up on Royal Woods on June 13, 2021. It's the first month of the summer and the town is as busy as ever. Cars drive down streets, while people walked on the sidewalks, and kids run around after their release from school for summer vacation. As with this time of year, the town is busy and overall noisy, too noisy for a little dog like Charles to nap through.
The small dog let's out a disgruntled little grunt as he laid inside his doghouse, you think that with the family he lived with, he would be used to loud noises, but this noise is just too much for him. Getting himself up, the now grumpy Charles heads over and drinks from his water dish. Satisfying his thirst Charles comes out of his doghouse and felt the warm, summer breeze brush through his fur which did make him feel a little bit better on having his nap interrupted.
Scratching his head a bit, Charles heads on over to his owners home as maybe he could take a nap somewhere inside the house, though it was very unlikely. Coming in through the doggy door the smell of Lynn Sr's. cooking struck him good, looking over he sees him cooking up something on the stove while humming a cheerful tune. Liking the smell of whatever he was cooking, Charles came up next to his leg and sat down while showing his puppy eyes. Lynn took notice of the begging dog, while still humming the tune Lynn spoke up with all the cheeriness he had for this day.
"Sorry boy, but this is for tonight's dinner." Lynn returns back to his cooking, leaving Charles to sit there with disappointment as he loved to eat Lynn's food. Leaving the kitchen with that still disappointment clear on his face, Charles walked past the dining room table where Rita is busy on making an article for the paper, "Parenting tip 50, If your kid refuses to take a bath. Make sure your really firm with them."
Coming into the living room Lola, Leni, Lana, and Lincoln are on the couch watching Dessert Storm on the TV. Walts, Charles good birdy friend is perched in his cage watching as well for although he's a bird, he enjoys the program. Especially when it showed the battle on who can make the best bird food, that episode is what caused him to be an instant fan of the show.
Charles wasn't interested in watching any show, he just wanted a nap so that he could rest his doggy body. Charles just reached the bottom of the stairs when a football came flying down. "Loud, makes the throw!"
Instincts immediately kicked into Charles, he jumps up into the air and perfectly caught the ball in his mouth, he lands perfectly where he sat down idly as Lynn in her football helmet came down the stairs from the railing. "Nice catch Charles." She told him while patting his head.
Dropping the ball down in front of her feet, Lynn picked it back up, not caring that the ball now had dog drool partially covering it. "42, 33, 51, 77, hike!" Lynn charges away towards the fireplace like an elephant, annoying her siblings that are trying to watch their show, especially Lola. "Pipe it down you clod! We're trying to watch Dessert Storm!"
"Sorry, can't stick around to chat. I need to practice for when football season starts." Lynn told them.
"Wait, but doesn't that start in September?" Lincoln question.
"Can't be too early to practice." Throwing her ball towards the dining room, Lynn races off to catch it. Charles meanwhile climbed up the stairs for maybe one of his owners beds will do. He reaches the top step where he spots Lucy in her room reading her book on her bed, no place to sleep in there.
Going down to the left of the hallway, Charles first checked in Luna's/Luan's room where Luan is making a pie to throw at someone, not wanting to have a pie thrown in his face, Charles turned to Lori's/Leni's room which had its door shut due to Lori wanting a private conversation without getting interrupted by her noisy siblings. This leaves only one room left for Charles, turning around Charles went towards Lincoln's room, passing by Lisa's and Lily's room in the process where the genius is working on a new machine, while the youngest Loud is fast asleep taking her own nap.
Entering Lincoln's room, Charles gets himself under the bed to have a nice dark place for a nap. Getting himself settled down, he could feel himself beginning to go into a good sleep while slightly hearing the sounds of rock music playing from the garage, courtesy of Luna.
Closing his eyes, Charles thinks about his owners. He loved his owners as much as a dog could, he would do anything for them and he knew that they would do anything for him as well, especially Lana. Charles also knew that the other pets felt the same way about their beloved owners, they all try to be on their best behavior. They hate to brag, but they believed that they were the best behave pets in the neighborhood.
Charles or the other pets in house however have no idea that in a flash of a second, their owners as well as every single human being on Earth will disappear forever from the face of the Earth. The music from outside ended in an instant and is replaced with a crash that spooked Charles out from the beginning of his sleep, coming out from under the bed Charles looked up to the rounded window that he couldn't see out of because of his small structure, even if he jumped on the desk he still wouldn't be able to see out the window.
What happened out there? Did Luna tripped or something? Charles tilts his head a bit in curiosity, but then his ears picked up the panic calls of Walt, the squeaks from Fangs and other sounds produced from the other pets. Quickly to see what was wrong? Charles raced out of the room, in his rush he passes Lisa's/Lily's room where he neglected to notice that the two were gone with Lisa's new machine laying on the floor with a switch turned to a on label.
Gary; Luan's pet bunny looked at the fallen pie on the floor that had its whipped cream as well as the cherry filling staining it from his top hat. His bunny brain couldn't progress on what had just happened? One minute Luan is standing there with the pie ready to throw at someone, then all of a sudden she disappeared within a blink of an eye and the pie fell onto the floor with a splat.
Coming out from his top hat, Gary hops over to the pie with a sniff, the concern for his disappearing owner is momentarily forgotten as he began to chow down on the abandon pie.
Next door; Fangs who unlike Garry didn't forget about his missing owner, who's book now laid open on her bed.
The panic he felt made him fly around the room, squeaking in panic as he tried to understand on what happened to Lucy. An easy answer would be is that she simply teleported somewhere as she tends to do so, but unlike most in this family, Fangs always knew where Lucy had ended up.
Fangs flew out of the room quickly to search for her, maybe she went to one of her secret dark places in the house.
Reaching downstairs, Charles as well as Cliff, and Geo came into the living room that is also missing their humans, leaving behind the TV remote that laid on the couch cushions and a bowl of popcorn spilled all over the floor, on the TV the screen had switched to complete static.
Walt opened up his cage door, flew over and landed on the coffee table. Charles barks in question on what had happen to their owners, Walt can only shrug in panic for he honestly doesn't know. They had just disappeared so suddenly, they were just here one moment then gone the next. Feeling a tap on his shoulder, Charles turned over to Cliff who made the motion to look into the dining room, he does so and only sees a football laying on the ground and a lonely laptop that's still on. Letting out a whine, Charles went over to the motionless football and took a sniff where Lynn's sent is still there. It was so strong, it was as if she was still holding it.
Glancing over to the kitchen, Charles realized that if most of his owners were mysteriously gone, then Lynn Sr. must be gone to. Racing into the kitchen, he sees that he's unfortunately right about him being missing. A low whine escapes from the small dog as he tried to comprehend on what happened? How did his beloved owners disappear? Where did they go? Are they going to return from wherever they went? If not, then what are they going to do?
Through these thoughts, Charles glances up to the pot on the stove that Lynn had been cooking in is still being heated on the stove. That needed to be taken care of right away, for if not it could start a fire. Letting out a bark, Walt came flying in to see what was up? Charles turned to the stove and motions the bird to turn it off. Nodding Walt flew down and used his feet to turn the knob that turned off the flames on the stove.
That was one crisis adverted, but the question of what happened to the their owners lingers around like some ghost.
With the sudden disappearance of humans; cars move uncontrollably and crash into each other, trees, streetlights, and whatever else that was in their way. Some cars didn't crash and simply stop on the roads, sidewalks, or even some lawns. However the ways they have stopped, they all still ran with most blaring their horns where no one will stop them until the batteries die.
Cars weren't the only vehicles suddenly abandon for at the Royal Woods airport, planes who were coming in for landings will all suddenly crash at the end of the runways. Planes that are still up in the air will remain up there for some time on autopilot, but once the fuel runs out. Gravity will bring them.
Trains ran uncontrollably on rails, many will derail or crash, but some will come to a safe stop once their fuel runs out.
In the McBride household; Cleopawtra and Nepurrtiti had been asleep in a warm spot at the front window, when the loud sound of cars crashing into each other woke them up with a frighten jump. The sisters sat up straight as they looked out the window and saw the wreck of two cars who had crashed into each other, severely denting their front hoods.
It was a bad crash from what they saw, yet they don't see anybody which greatly surprise them for they expected to see people in the cars or going in to surround them, but there's no one, it was as if the cars were driving by themselves and crashed into each other. It was strange, but they do know one thing though, their owners weren't going to be too happy when they get back from antique shopping.
Until that happens, Cleopawtra and Nepurrtiti jumped down from the windowsill and made their way to the kitchen to have some water as well as some food, after that the two cats decided that they would get some peace and quiet down in the basement. Perhaps some time on the massage chairs will get them all comfy before their owners come home.
Wreckages and pile ups of cars and trucks are more common in cities and it's no different in Great Lake City. As a huge pile up of cars laid stationary in front of the Casagrande apartment building, the sudden crash of vehicles isn't the only change that the city is suddenly facing as with the sudden vanish of so many bodies, the city's temperature had went down by a fraction of a degree.
Inside Rosa's and Hector's apartment; Lalo and Sergio had been minding their own business with the family who had all been watching TV five minutes ago, when they had suddenly disappeared without no warning. It spooked the two animals greatly for they certainly weren't expecting it and now their familia are gone without a trace, plus it sounded like absolute chaos from outside with all the blaring horns.
Flying around in the living room in panic, Sergio spoke up. "Squawk! What in the name Zeus happened? Where in the heck is everyone!?"
Lalo barked in response in translation to; "I don't know." Sergio flies around some more before landing on the table, he lets out a short laugh as a thought came to him. "Squawk! Alright don't panic, this is obviously some joke."
Lalo tilted his head with question. "Yeah" Sergio insisted. "They are just getting back at me after I played those pranks on them last week." Lalo definitely remembered that crazy week, boy they sure had been mad when Sergio spilled that green paint on them.
But yet, he felt that it wasn't some kind of elaborate joke, stepping up to the window he sees the crowded streets below. He calls Sergio over to come and see for himself, the parrot does so by landing on the windowsill. "They must've gotten the whole neighborhood in on it, their definitely putting a lot of effort into this joke." A loud voice told him that it wasn't a joke, but by now he was in full denial.
It wasn't until a plane fell from the sky and crashed somewhere in the distance that Sergio realized that this is really happening.
Ten minutes after humans disappeared. The machines and computers that we left behind like: video games, digital clocks, power tools, washing machines and dryers, dish washers, televisions, etc, are still functioning properly.
It doesn't last long in Royal Woods as with no one running the local power plant, there's no one to determine on who has enough electricity. Automatic computers soon detect a problem and shuts down, leaving Royal Woods with no power.
Everything immediately shuts off, sprinklers slowly turn off as they go do their arches again, noisy power tools go silent, and every source of light is turned off. The only place that still has power is the Mcbride household due to the solar panels that are installed on the roof, thus leaving the McBride's two resident felines to become completely oblivious to the rest of the town that has lost all of its power. While they slept comfortably on the still running massage chairs.
The pets of the Loud household weren't so lucky. They had all gathered in the living room when the TV and everything else electric shuts off, it startled them as they all sat together for they weren't expecting everything to just shut off. For most of them it confirmed that their lives have just changed forever, while there were some who believed that the electricity would come back on later and that their owners would come back by tomorrow.
Charles was on the side who knew that everything has changed for them and now they were on their own. He is still wondering on how their owners disappeared, but he is at least glad that not everyone in his family disappeared for it looked like that it only effected humans.
What were they to do? It was true that they still have plenty of food to last them for awhile, but it was still limited and once that food supply went out, they would have to go and find their own food. It scared him as they were just simple house pets, how could they find their own food out there? He suppose that El Diablo, Izzy, Fangs, and Hops could have a better chance out there, but him along with Cliff, Walt, and Geo? He simply didn't know their chances.
It looks like that they would have to do their best to survive this sudden empty, human world.
Throughout the world more power outages occur, the sudden loss of power leads to problems in chemical plants. Many stored gases require electricity to be cold enough to stay in liquid form. Gas storage tanks heat up until pressure release valves are activated, sending toxic gases into the surrounding environment. Hundreds of thousands of venting tanks cause many animals in the affected regions to die of suffocation.
The global power outage soon reaches nuclear power plants. Emergency security measures kick in and shuts off the reactors, these backup systems also see that the storage pool tanks will keep cool for the nuclear fuel rods. The rods must be kept cool or else it could cause a great disaster, but that won't happen as long as the backup power remains on.
In eight hours; just as the sun had went down on Great Lake City. The power finally shuts down, plunging the whole city into darkness with only the stars and the rising moon to provide light.
Inside their dark apartment building; Lalo and Sergio were in the kitchen for food. Opening the cabinet with his foot, both bird and dog food stood before them proudly. "Here's the food." Sergio flies in and picks up both food containers, flying over he pours the food in their bowls, but not too much as he had a feeling that they needed to reserve their food supply as much as possible.
Beginning to eat his food, Sergio felt a bit disgruntled as he wasn't happy on eating in the dark. "Darn power going out, parrots can't live in these conditions. Especially parrots like me." Sergio now turned to Lalo who is busy eating. "Do you think we got a chance on finding a, squawk! Generator and running it?"
Lalo looked to him with a blank expression, not believing that he had just asked him such a question. "Right, dumb question." The two continue to eat a few more bites before stopping halfway as they didn't want to eat all of it.
Now that they were finished with eating the two pets go over to the window to look out at the dark cityscape. It was very weird, they had never heard the city this quiet before or see the twinkling stars above for that matter, it honestly felt like that they were on a different planet. There is one thing for sure though, the two missed their familia, they couldn't believe that the last time they saw them was this morning, if they had known that they would disappear later today, they would've gave them the best affection that they can give.
Sergio felt especially terrible for all the times he was mischievous towards the family, especially with those pranks last week. They both hoped that wherever their familia are right now, they are at least safe and are having a good time or something.
In the dark town of Royal Woods; the pets of the Loud house are settling in for the night. Lana's pets have all gathered on Lana's bed for sleep, while Fangs and Garry slept in their individual owners beds.
Cliff, Walt, and Geo went to sleep in Lynn Sr's and Rita's room, while Charles stayed up a bit, sitting on the couch thinking about his owners who have sat here earlier today while having no idea that they would just disappear. Letting out a small, sad whine, Charles jumped down from the couch and checked in on Cliff and the others to see if they were alright, he is satisfied to see them fast asleep. They looked so peaceful in their sleep that he didn't want to disturb them, so he quietly walked up the stairs where he caught sight of Fangs sleeping upside down and Lana's pets huddle up together.
Getting into Lincoln's room, Charles climbed on to the bed, circles around on the pillow a bit before settling down. His last thoughts before drifting off into dreamland was the great memories he had with his owners.
