In the year 733

A certain inventor was yelled back at the Brief's headquarters

"You see...you all we see that this invention is not a joke as you could have gotten in this. Instead, you will all suffer the wrath of my invention" the inventor declared.

They had tried getting the backing of the Capsule Corporation to help them with their invention. One that could increase how the capsule was used many times over in their opinion stretching into a market that was still left untouched and able to change the world. Just like their capsule tech had done once before already. Though because of what their invention did exactly no one was interested in it at all with Capsule Corporation being the last place they were going to try to market their invention.

This invention was however noticed by someone as they were walking away rather angry and pissed off

"Interesting as I have seen what your invention can do and I am interested in it. As it seems like it would be a good fit for something else than all those things you tried marketing it for" the person said "This place could be the perfect proving ground for that"

Agreeing this person that the inventor had met was actually an alien and one that worked for a universe spanning known as the Planet Trade Organization. This organization worked into the business as well as the name suggested trading planet though getting those that they did not want on the planet they were interested in trading was troublesome and costly. To them, there had to be a better way of dealing with planets and making a profit. Both from selling the planet itself and how to make some money off those that they took the planet from in the first place.

In came the invention that the inventor had which was dubbed the Medusa. That was not their original name for it but it was used so often that they just stuck with it as no amount of rebranding was about to change that at this point. So they just stopped trying to do it, going with the name that stuck rather than the name they gave it originally sadly.

Anyway, the deal was that they would get some of the techs from the Planet Trade Organization to help beef up the Medusa as it was already strong but they wanted it ever stronger. They did not want too many of them in existence given what its ability was so the few the better. In that sense the one they did have would be the only one as the tech would be made more advance to deal with the desired result the alien that was hiring the inventor wanted.

They were aware of the Sayian race that was 'employed' the previous year by the head of their Organization thus their parent company being changed from the Cold Force to the Frieza Force. They were not the most trustful looking race so the alien decided to look for a means to counter their addition and make a profit from it at the same time. They did make getting new planets easier to a degree thus to their plan would require being better than the Sayian after all.

Seven years later...

On a base located on the moon of the planet Earth, the inventor had finally finished working on the changes asked of them. It was not a moment too soon either as Frieza had arrived that very same day.

"You promised me an invention that would not only prep a planet for sale but at the same time put those on it to good use as well. Even those where the power level is so weak they would not be worth using as a race to clear another" he said.

"Of course, Lord Frieza and it is finally done as the biggest hurdle was making one device be able to cover an entire planet by itself along with making so that it would affect all life rather than just one race...and one type of animal as well" the inventor's alien backer explained.

"Good as I put off getting rid of those monkeys for three years because of this invention you told me about. It looked rather promising after all" Frieza said

Of course, there was the rumor going around that being called Beerus actually order Frieza to wipe out the Saiyans but since he was able to delay it but three years then they might just be rumors after all.

"So where did you send the device to for it to go off for the first time," the alien asked

The inventor smiled as they had the perfect place to set off their revenge and prove the power of their device to the entire world.

At Capsule Corporation...

A seven year old Bulma Briefs was looking over something that crashed landed into her family's backyard. A metallic-looking object with a smooth surface in the shape of a trefoil knot with only one side, similar to a möbius strip. She held it in her hand that was covered in some gloves she got from the capsule she had on her. Holding it up to the sun she was curious as to what it was as it could just be a meteorite as it was too detailed for something like that.

Dr. Briefs noticed what his second daughter was holding and panicked as he came to see what had crashed into their backyard where he knew Bulma was last seen heading towards. He never got to warn her and even if he did Bulma would not have heard him as the device activated and in that instant, Bulma was instantly petrified from head to toe by a bright light. A statue of solid stone with the clothing it was dressed in unaffected completely.

Though transformation Dr. Brief's second child to stone was not the only thing that the device did as he might have been able to see what happened to Bulma but another reason he never got to warn was that seconds after she was petrified he was as well. This spread throughout the entire planet with everyone and anyone that was alive on the planet being rendered into solid stone statues. Frozen at the moment the wave of light spread across without spare a single being. The land, water, sky, even underground nothing and no one was spared leaving the Earth to go from a planet thriving with life to one that merely a planet size gallery of statues and nothing more.

Laughing loudly Frieza was vastly pleased and enjoyed what he said as he could not wait for this device to be used on those monkeys. Now he did not have to waste a perfectly good planet just to get rid of them. All he had to do was have this device used and then they too could be used means to bring him more profit as well as spread the fear of what happens to those that get on his bad side even more from now on.
