"AAAAAUGH!" Cerrena woke up suddenly, with a strong pain in her toes. When she looked down, Fish was sitting there with a smug little look on his face. "Fish…Did you bite me?" she asked, narrowing her eyes. He signaled for yes. She rolled her eyes.
Suddenly she hears a faint voice. "Hey…" it gets a little louder. "Agent 3!" She looks around and finds three squids waiting for her. "HEY! Agent 3! Over here!" One of the squids is waving at her. She has black hair that is tied up in a bow, and on the ends it's yellow. She's also wearing a black dress. The Inkling next to her is sitting down, wearing a blue hat, some fancy headphones, and also has yellow hair, the classic hippie hairstyle that was popular when the Squid Sisters hosted the news. She was sitting on a box. The last one had short hair tied up in a bow, but it was kind of grayish, with yellow on the ends just like the first Inkling. She was wearing a white dress, and also holding an umbrella. "Whew! I'm so glad you're okay."
"Well, I was alright until some certain little fish bit my toe, but yeah I'm fine." Cerrena responded.
"You…are Agent 3, right?" The Inkling asked.
"Yup, I'm Agent 3!" She responded, smiling in pride of her super cool title.
"Of course you are. You have that look in your eyes." The Inkling put her hands on her hips.
"That's what he said." She said, nodding.
"Well, it's nice to meet you! I'm Agent 1 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon!" She said, holding up the number one.
"Hey. I'm Agent 2." The one with white hair said.
"Now for our last crew member… This is our Captain!" The Captain held up a peace sign, but didn't say anything. "We're the rest of the New Squidbeak Splatoon!" After Agent 1 said this, they all did a little pose.
Cerrena just stood there, not saying anything. She recognized the first two agents, but was trying to figure out where she saw them. They look a lot like the Squid Sisters, but why would the Squid Sisters be doing something like this?
Agent 2 stopped doing her pose. "Anyway, it looks like you and Gramps got separated in that fall, along with your friend." Huh. I guess Cuttlefish is these guy's grandfather…okay. "This place is huge, and it's filled with Fuzzy Ooze. And now we have to find them before they, like, eat it or something."
"Ugh, gross!" Cerrena said with a disgusted look on her face.
"Yeah, nasty." Agent 1 said. "Can you help us look for Gramps?" She had a little bit of a crazed look in her eyes. "Please?" They all just stood there for an awkward moment. Cerrena was about to respond when Agent 2 cut in.
"Oh, she's in. Probably too excited to look for someone else's grandpa to speak."
"Excuse me?" She was a little confused. She would help them find Cuttlefish, but what she really wanted was to save Macro. She was getting really worried about him.
"So we have a new Agent 3…Glad to have you!" Agent 2 said, and they all struck another pose. Cerrena was really confused now.
"Uh… a new Agent 3? Was there an Agent 3 before me?" she asked.
"Yeah, there was. Captain, would you like to explain?" Agent 1 asked.
The Captain started doing hand signals, none of which she could understand. Agent 2 noticed the confused look she had on her face. "Oh, Agent 3 doesn't know sign language. Basically what the Captain is saying, she was the former Agent 3, but when Gramps retired, she was made the new Captain."
"Cool." She understood now.
"Anyway, we think this place is called Alterna. Who knew it was here this whole time? There are six different islands. We call them sites for simplicity."
"Also, did you see this giant rocket over there? I mean, look at that!" Agent 1 interrupted.
"It's kind of hard not to miss it, Agent 1. Anyway, we put a tracking device on Gramps and your friend, as one does. But somehow we're getting a strong signal from three different areas!" Agent 2 exclaimed.
"Your first mission is to check all three of those places out!" Agent 1 said. Great. Now she had to do something.
"Cool. Well, I'm gonna start looking, bye!" Cerrena started walking. She was interrupted by Agent 1.
"Wait! Your hero suit is all messed up!"
"Never mind that for now! We need to save them! Bye!" Cerrena kept walking and found a kettle. She inked it and hopped in.
When she hopped in, something started talking. "Activated! System check…ok. Authentication…All systems normal. Commencing biometric scan. Scan complete…No matches found! Commencing registration sequence."
"Uh, what?" She was confused. There was no one around, and this voice sounded robotic.
It started beeping, then continued talking. "Hello. My name is ORCA. I am a navigation system for Alterna citizens. Welcome. Please enter your identification to proceed." ORCA said.
"Agent 3.'' She didn't really want to use her real name because she wasn't going to stay here forever.
It made a ding noise. "Your name has been registered. Thank you for registering, Agent 3. I am programmed to analyze your intellectual and physical ability as demonstrated when you complete missions throughout Alterna. In each mission, you will need to complete the objective given to you. Citizens that are able to do that will receive many Power Eggs. Good luck on your first mission, citizen!"
"Thanks! Wait, I don't have a weapon…" she realized. She would probably need one for the mission…
"Weapon initiating…Please select a weapon." A circular thing rose up around her.
"Ahh! I'm trapped! AAAAH!" She freaked out. There was suddenly this thing, and she had no warning, what the heck?! Then she looked forward. There was a floaty thing, with a picture of a weapon on it. "Oh. I press this." she pressed it, and the circular thing sunk back below the ground. SHe sighed with relief.
"To begin the mission, you will have to pass through that gate. If Power Eggs are needed, you will have to pay before entering. Best of luck, Agent 3." ORCA said. As she passed through the gate, this weird stuff sprayed at her. She wasn't sure what it was, but it sure wasn't water.
She leaped forward onto a checkpoint. In front of her was a ride rail. "YES! A FREAKING RIDE RAIL! WOOOO!" Ride rails are awesome. She inked it and hopped on it. She hopped off, and walked forward a bit. In front of her was a lot of platforms and various things. "Stuff!" She ran ahead, not really listening to whatever Agents 1 and 2 were saying. She turned to the left, and shot a thing, bringing up a fountain of ink.
She went up the fountain, and kept walking. She noticed an ink rail to her right. Ink rails aren't ride rails, you have to swim though them rather than just riding on them. She noticed the part she had to ink was on the platform to her right. She threw Fish toward it, and it activated. "Come back, Fish!" Fish came back, and Cerrena went through the ink rail. There was a fan to her right. Fans were fun. You inked one, and it moved something. She inked it, and the part of the platform she was standing on started moving. It brought her to a different platform, with a key and a checkpoint on it. She got the key, and jumped to a lower platform to her left.
There was this thing that looked like a drum to her left. She inked it, and it brought a big block out. She inked the side of it, and swam up. Somehow this all felt natural, and she just knew what to do. There was a wall to her right, and it had this weird little thing on it. It was just like, sticking. When she inked the wall, the little thing just freaking sucked up her ink! "What the heck?"
"That thing is called a Squee-G. They suck up any ink they find!" Agent 2 told her.
"Stupid thing." She inked one side of the wall, then the other side and swam up. There was another checkpoint and another key. She jumped back down to the platform below her after grabbing the key.
She moved a little to the left, and there was a weird wheel thing that when she inked it, it moved forward in a specific path. She inked it, and it went on a path and broke a few boxes, giving her some Power Eggs. It kept going, then exploding, which activated a sponge. THe sponge expanded, and she swam up it. At the top, there were TWO ride rails! "Alright! Let's go!" She activated them. She jumped from one to the other, grabbing Calamari rings, which also gave her Power Eggs.
She ended up on a platform, and it had a slap bracelet thing. Basically, you inked it, and it would unravel, and you could swim across. If you left it alone for too long, or an enemy inked it, it would ravel back up again. She inked it, and swam forward. There was another one, and she inked it, and swam up. You'd think at the top of this platform there would be a checkpoint and a key, right? NOPE! There was only a can, which gave Cerrena the Trizooka special.
She activated it, and there were two shielded Octarians and another slap bracelet thing. She used her three shots, splatting the Octarians and unraveling the slap bracelet. "What are the slap bracelet things called?" She asked the Agents.
"They're called Inkfurlers." Agent 2 told her.
"Thanks." At the end of the Inkfurler, there was, yup, a checkpoint and a key. She grabbed the key, and went back down to the lower platform. She saw the vaults that connected to the keys, and opened the first one. It had another fountain, and she inked it. She went up, and unlocked the second vault. This one had an Inkfurler in it. She inked it, swam up, and unlocked the third vault, which had a ride rail in it. It led her to the end. She inked the weird thing ahead of her. It formed together, and when she touched it, she was told "Mission passed!" and she left the kettle.
"Cool! My first Alterna mission! That was surprisingly easy. Well, let's move on!" She threw Fish at the Fuzzball ahead of her. She walked forward, until her path was blocked with more Fuzzy Ooze. Looks like she would have to do another kettle to get more Power Eggs. She found one, and went in.
This one was a bit more complicated, and definitely more life-threatening, but not too hard. It had exploding things, and Cerrena knew she was scarred forever. She cleared the Fuzzy Ooze preventing her from moving forward, but found another freaking Fuzzball, and hoo boy was it a big one. She would need to do another kettle. This next one was pretty simple, but the Octarians kept on appearing out of nowhere! It was terrifying! There was no way she could get more traumatized than this.
She cleared the big Fuzzball, and started moving on to the next site when a voice stopped her. "HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!"
Author's note: WOOOO! We got into Alterna! Let's go! We have our Squidbeak Splatoon, and a mysterious appearance from someone right there at the end, wonder who could that be?
