CHAPTER 13
DON'T DREAM IT'S OVER
The following afternoon, DJ is walking outside the barn when he heard a familiar voice speak.
"Sup." a female voice said.
DJ stopped in his tracks and looked to his left see Loona, looking the exact same as she did 31 years prior.
"What are you doing here?" asked DJ.
"A way to bring your brother back has been discovered." said Loona.
"Have you gotten tired of him?" asked DJ.
"Well for starters, this and Jasper are off limits." said Loona. "To be honest, between a guy in a green space suit and Milo, Hell's lost so many demons that Milo was placed in purgatory."
DJ smirked.
"Even at the gates of Hell, he won't back down." he said.
"Yeah, yeah." said Loona. "Stop stroking your shriveled up dick and listen."
"You know, I'd tell you to grow up, but given where you're from, I believe it's not possible for you." said DJ.
Loona rolled her eyes.
"You done?" she asked.
"Go on." said DJ.
"The fires of Lucifer's throne room have the power to erase sentient beings." said Loona. "If you were to kill Spade with it, he will be erased."
"Won't he see it coming?" asked DJ.
"Not his mortal form." said Loona. "Plus his eternal form is... occupied. I believe you know a day where he was a long time ago."
"The day of the flood." said DJ. "I remember. Daisy and mom were going out to the meadows and... Here he was trying to get in Daisy's pants. Milo was working on Cammy, so I told Slade to buzz off."
"Well that's your way in." said Loona.
"Only one problem." said DJ. "The day Milo died, so did my ability to create portals."
"That power's restored for now." said Loona.
DJ smiled.
Later, he was in a shed with Z, where he had finished wiping Z down. That car look just as new as the day it was made, thanks to the upkeep throughout the years.
"Z..." DJ began. "I know it's been hard these past 30 years... You and Milo were really close... I cared a lot about him too... But buddy, if you're still in there, we need you. We need to get Milo back and you're the only car here fast enough to help get him back."
There was no response. DJ sighed as he started walking toward the door. However, before he could leave, he heard Z's engine start up for the first time in 31 years. DJ turned back around toward him and smiled.
"When can we leave?" asked a voice out of the radio.
"Soon." said DJ. "Very very soon."
Atop of Ben's Hill, Daisy is at Milo's grave. She lies down a couple daisies at his headstone.
"I wish it were me, darling." she said as tears filled up her eyes. The tone for text messages on her phone went off and she then looked at it. It was a text from Reven that read "Meeting".
At the meeting, DJ, Daisy, Reven, and all the other grandparents were there, along with Loona.
"There is a way of bringing Milo back." said DJ.
"What?" asked Daisy.
"Tell her." DJ said to Loona.
"The fires of Lucifer's throne room has the power to erase the damned." said Loona. "The only thing more powerful than its powers are... Anna's home's... I have taken very cautious steps and have crafted bullets and blades. I think Spade's been loyal enough that he'll stay gone for good."
"Why would you help us?" asked Daisy.
"Milo hasn't exactly been... Good for us..." said Loona. "In order for him not to see you coming, you have to go back before he was a demon."
"2005." said Daisy.
"Yes." said Loona. "It's very easy to find him there."
"Two questions." said Reven. "How do we know that they can't hear us and why did you wait so long to tell us?"
"Simple." said Loona. "There's not a lot of times when there's not prying eyes and ears, and this is one of those times."
"I can assemble a device for time travel." said Brandon. "Only thing is... Time travel hasn't been possible for about 30 years."
"It is now." said Loona.
"Great." said Brandon. "In that case, a working model can be available at night."
"I'll go." said DJ.
"What?" asked Missy.
"I have to do this." said DJ. "And if I succeed, we'll be back here as if nothing happened."
"I'm going with you." said Daisy.
"What?" asked Reven.
"Even if we lose, I have to see him again one last time." said Daisy.
"But if you lose, I won't have anyone..." said Reven. "You can't go..."
"Rev, please..." Daisy begged. "Please."
Reven snorts, upset and kisses her, tears forming in her eyes.
"I promise you." said Daisy. "You're going to forget any of us went anywhere."
"You better be right." Reven said, the tears now streaming down her face.
After midnight, as the moonlight shined upon the Old Mill, Louise sat down, lonely. After searching up his profile on Messenger, Louise had typed up a message for Lugosi. She hesitated a little bit before sending it. After sending it, she started playing Hello, I'm in Delaware by City and Colour on her phone and lie it down, before she started crying.
Miles away, Lugosi sat on the edge of his bed, a golden ring on his finger and his wife, a white rabbit, sleeping next to him. He was wearing black shorts, and had a concerned look on his face, having looked at Louise's message. He looked back down at the message, it reading "I miss you". He typed up a message and sent it, before deleting the conversation and putting it back on the bed side stand.
Back at the Old Mill, the message tone on Louise's phone went off and she quickly grabbed her phone. She looked at the messages and saw a response from Lugosi that read "I miss you too.".
Louise then smiled slightly as she put her phone down.
At the barnyard, Z was positioned face to face with the entrance. DJ was in the passenger's seat, while Daisy was in the driver's seat.
"I've done some tests with the device." said Brandon, standing beside Daisy's side. "You should make it through safely, Z and all. It's set to an hour before the flood, so you should have some time to spare."
"Thank you." said Daisy.
"Don't worry." said Brandon. "See you in the other reality." he said and smiled.
"See you then." said Daisy and put the pedal to the metal. Z took off fast down the hill, turning up the volume of the radio, playing Everlong by Foo Fighters as DJ pressed a red button. Right in front of them, a portal opened up, then closed once they made it through...
