Everything Yet Nothing

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha.

Prologue

She didn't understand where she was. She recognized everything yet nothing. She looked behind her to see demons and humans alike holding swords, spears, bows and arrows. All yelling for her to stop.

She continued to run towards the clearing, trusting her instincts. Her white clothing already the colour of dirt, was ripped and torn by the surrounding trees as she fought her way out of the forest and into the clearing.

Her followers began to shoot arrows at her. She didn't understand why they were chasing her or what was in the clearing. She just knew that she had to get away and that she'd be safe in the clearing.

Inuyasha woke up with a start. His nose was telling him something and was twitching like mad. "Inuyasha?" He ignored the call of his name and continued his search.

Ignored, Miroku got up from his post and went closer to where Inuyasha had been resting near the fire. "Inuyasha?"

He was quickly silenced with a look. "What's wrong?" He looked around and found nothing.

"I smell something." Miroku looked curiously at Inuyasha who was still facing the forest. They had set up camp on a small cliff in a nearby forest after a tense battle with a snake demon that was after their shards. Inuyasha was injured and was still healing from his poisoned wounds.

"I sense nothing," Miroku stated.

"It means no harm," Inuyasha replied, still sniffing for clues. "It's coming closer."

"What is?"

"I'm not sure," Inuyasha frowned. "It's hard to make out. Like something's blocking the scent."

Suddenly, Inuyasha growled. "Demons, lots of them." Miroku quickly went to wake the others. He shook the others awake and informed them of the situation.

Everyone stood; ready to fight, in the center of their camp towards the sound of the approaching demons.

The moonlight told her she was almost at her goal. An arrow had lodged itself into her back, making it harder to run through the trees. She stumbled over roots and caught herself before she fell.

Right ahead of her was the clearing and no one was behind her. She let out a small cry of joy, momentarily forgetting where she was. She tripped over a log and fell into the clearing.

She heard gasps of shock and wonder. She made to get up when a lone whisper froze her movements. "Kagome?"

Kagome looked up at the beings staring at her. "Kagome?" She looked at the one that called her, with wonder. She stared past them with wide-eyes and spoke.

"Who are you?"
