Sakura landed hard after 'Madara' pulled out his sword and tossed her onto the ground like a ragdoll. Her breath would have been forced out if she had any left in her lungs.
She was still reeling from the undead Madara's blow to her chest, broken pieces of ribs and sternum poking holes in her lungs. Thankfully her heart had been spared. She wasn't sure she could repair heart tissue before passing out. Bone and lung tissue were actually much easier to knit together quickly.
She was so close to blacking out entirely, but the image of Sasuke on the ground, dying and pleading for her safety with his eyes, kept her from surrendering.
She took shallow breaths, laying as still as possible. She used her chakra to assess the damage the sword had done. It was a fatal wound much like Sasori's had been. It was a different location, but it had still pierced multiple internal organs.
She listened with half an ear as the two Madaras talked. She nearly shuddered when she heard them discuss taking Sasuke's eyes. He couldn't defend himself in his state! She had to do something.
She reached in once more and touched the Yin seal, begging it to be ready. She could almost see the chakra level as it neared the top. If she could survive for just a few more moments and force the rest of her available chakra into the seal, she could unleash it at full force.
She began to sweat, partly from shock and partially from the shear effort of bullying her chakra into place.
She could feel her heartbeat slowing down but did not give it permission to stop yet through sheer willpower.
'Hold on Sasuke,' she begged him in her thoughts, 'I just need a little more time.'
She continued to listen with half an ear, monitoring how close this 'Obito' was to Sasuke based on the number of steps he had taken and the pace he was taking them. He was almost to Sasuke! She was out of timeā¦
'There,' she shouted in triumph in her mind, seeing the chakra level in the seal hit maximum.
She could feel the diamond appear on the skin of her forehead.
She wasted no time, forcing her hands together despite the broken forearm bones, and made the hand sign.
Her open wounds began to close, bone fragments were forced back into place and mended together again, and the ruptured organs were all repaired simultaneously.
As the unleashed chakra flooded her system, the air around her began to whip into a frenzy. She sprang to her feet and lunged for the mysterious Uchiha, steam still rising from her healing wounds.
"Take this, Shannaro," she cried, glowing fist driving into the back of the man. She used her momentum to go up, pushing him over slightly and then down into the ground, forming a crater. She made sure the edge of the crater stopped just shy of Sasuke so he didn't fall in.
The Uchiha had a single moment to turn his head and stare at her wide-eyed, and then he lay in the center of the crater, unmoving.
She flipped up and landed beside Sasuke, hands already glowing green. She killed nerves and flooded his body with endorphins. When she realized how much blood he had lost and how his heart muscles were pierced, she switched tactics, pushing the crisscrossing pattern of her yin seal onto his body.
The Creation Rebirth began to work on him, forcing his heart to seal back up, rerouting the blood that was pooling internally, and forcing his marrow to go into overtime to produce fresh red blood cells to replace all that he had lost externally.
It all happened in a few moments. Sakura sat back when she was satisfied, wiping the sweat from her forehead, and smiling through tears of joy and relief.
Sasuke sat up slowly, hands examining the smooth flesh of his chest that should have still been open and dispensing his blood onto the ground.
He looked at Sakura then, searching for any sign of her injuries, thinking that this must be some genjutsu fantasy he was trapped in.
He gingerly touched the skin visible through the stab wound in her shirt, feeling to be sure his eyes weren't lying to him.
Sakura's face flushed, and she held her breath. Sasuke's hand was dangerously close to an area she wasn't ready for him to touch just yet.
Sasuke still seemed to be in a daze and unaware of how close his hand was or how uncomfortable Sakura was about it.
He took his hand away a moment and just looked at it.
Sasuke suddenly used his other hand to break his pinky finger and Sakura yelped in surprise, "What are you doing Sasuke!?"
She took his hand into hers and used a flicker of chakra to repair it.
She looked up to see Sasuke smiling at her. All the other words she was thinking of to berate him died on her lips in that moment. His eyes were so expressive. She could see relief, joy, and love in them.
"Thank you, Sakura," he spoke quietly, "I'm glad this isn't a genjutsu."
She blushed and looked down for a moment, somewhat embarrassed and insulted, "I told you about this jutsu you know; you don't have to act so surprised that it really works."
He reached for her chin and tilted it back up to face him, the same smile and expressive eyes on his face, "Sakura, I thought you were dead."
Her eyes went wide as she began to understand. She began to speak an apology when Sasuke suddenly leaned forward and kissed her.
His kiss was gentle, and he moved his hands to cup her face.
She kissed him back, equally as gentle, letting her hands move to rest one on his shoulder and one at the base of his neck.
The kiss ended suddenly, Sasuke pulling back to survey the battlefield in front of them.
He turned back to look at her, removing one hand from her face and poking her in the forward with two fingers saying, "We'll finish this later."
If it was possible, Sakura's face grew redder, and she nodded her agreement. There was a Kage-level fight with an undead Madara Uchiha to join still.
It was fortunate that the direction of the advancing fight had shifted enough that it had begun to pass them rather than run them over.
They stood to their feet, fully charged and ready.
Then Orochimaru appeared beside them with Sasuke's old team. About the same time the remainder of the Allied Forces rallied around the Kage in the distance, also ready to join the fight.
And then a giant statue puffed into existence with a massive cloud of smoke. One of the Madara clones proceeded to feed it something, and the ten-tailed beast was brought to life to wreak havoc.
Sasuke and Sakura shared a glance. Things just got a little more complicated.
The old team Taka and Orochimaru pledged to help. Well, three of them did. Karin huffed and said something about having nothing better to do.
Sakura spared a single thought as to how Orochimaru had not only found Karin but freed her from a Leaf prison. She shook her head; there were more pressing issues to think about.
Nodding to each other, the group ran forward anyway, joining the fight. Orochimaru and the former Taka went to aid the wounded Kage. Sakura and Sasuke joined Naruto. The old Team 7 stood in between the ten-tails and the Allied Shinobi army.
The former Hokage wasted no time and ran forward to erect a barrier after the First pinned the beast down with his wood-style.
Undeterred, Madara somehow caused the giant beast to dissolve into many smaller beasts, free now from the restraints. Team 7 was ready the next moment with a strategy.
The three of them brought forth their summons.
Sakura made a clone and left her in charge of healing the alliance with the divided Katsuya. Tsunade joined the clone, creating a healing area that wounded need only stand on the be healed.
The real Sakura began swinging away at the tiny beasts, devastating many at a time. Sasuke and Naruto continued just ahead of her, but still close. They were an inseparable team.
If she had a moment to spare, she would reflect on how pleased she was by her ability to fight so well with her teammates.
They executed combo attack after combo attack, bouncing off one another like they had been practicing together from their genin days.
She had an ample supply of water from others' prior water jutsu discharge and an underground aquaphor to draw on so she could minimize her own chakra expenditure. She created massive sugar starch fields that Sasuke's lightening spread quickly and efficiently through to electrocute the mini beasts. She used the underground water to carve tunnels quickly for Naruto's clones to travel through. She erected massive water walls around the edges of their fight to protect the allied army when Sasuke and Naruto combined their fire and wind styles.
Black Zetsu watched the proceedings with a slight frown. The children were annoying, but he couldn't let them distract him. He went to the crater that Obito lay in, still alive, but barely.
Zetsu entered his body, possessing the half that was made from a white Zetsu, and got him moving towards the main body of the undead Madara.
He would make sure Madara took the boy's Rinnengan and Sharingan so he could become the ten-tails jinchuriki. He did not relish the idea of revealing he was still alive, but the plan hinged on Madara amassing enough power to revive Mother.
