I groaned silently when I suddenly felt the cold air on my skin. I shivered slightly as I turned in my bed and tried to wrap myself tighter with my blanket. But I soon realized, that the reason why I was cold, was because my blanket wasn't on me. Groaning again, I slowly moved my hand around, searching for my blanket with my eyes still closed. But slowly, slowly, I frowned to myself, eyes still closed, as I realized my bed wasn't my bed, it was Appa's saddle.
Suddenly, remembering the storm, my eyes flew open as I shot up from where was laying. The first thing I saw was ice, and ice everywhere. Confused and a bit worried, I looked around me as I slowly stood up. But I soon fell back, on my butt, as Appa suddenly gave out a huge snore. Well Appa is still alright! I smiled to myself and laughed quietly as Appa continued snoring.
"Appa!"
I looked up as I heard my little brother's voice. "Are you alright?" I crawled over to the side of the saddle and saw Aang hugging Appa's head. I smiled and shook my head at my brother's silliness as he went over to one of Appa's eye and open his eyelid. "Wake up buddy!" Not getting any reaction, Aang jumped down and started, well tried, to open Appa's mouth. Shaking my head again with a soft laugh, I open my mouth to get call him, but I quickly stopped myself when I saw two kids in water tribe clothing. One was a boy with a spear, and the other one was a girl, with her hood up.
They came around the corner of ice, walking towards Aang, but they both froze as their mouths fell open in shock when they saw Appa. The girl gasped silently while the boy gasped loudly, and not long after, the boy quickly pushed the girl behind him as he pointed his spear at Appa, in fear. My frown deepened at their behavior, because it looked like they never seen a sky bison before.
But my frown soon turned into a smile when I heard Aang laugh. "Hahaha! You're okay!" Aang exclaimed as he was lifted up by Appa's tongue as he yawned from waking up. Seeing that he was awake, Aang jumped off Appa's tongue and stood in front of him while he waited for Appa to finish yawning. Aang quickly hugged Appa on his nose before taking a step back for Appa to get up and shake himself. Already prepared, I held onto the saddle and laughed as Appa shook himself.
Hearing my laugh, Aang and the two water tribe kids looked up and saw me. "Asami!" Aang exclaimed happily and relief. I smiled happily back at my brother, but before he or I could say anything else, a little red creature jumped on me and started licking my face. Caught by surprise, fell on my back and started laughing as the fire ferret licked my cheek.
"Kai!" I laughed as my pet continued to lick my face. I continued laughing before sitting up and picking up Kai and sitting him on my shoulder. "It's good to see you too!" I said as I looked up at him and scratched his chin. Kai chirped happily, giving me one last lick before noticing the water tribe kids. Kai gave a confuse chirp and turned his head slightly as he stared at them.
"What is that thing?" The water tribe boy asked Aang, as he stared at Appa with a glare. I frowned again at the boy's behavior, but Aang just continued smiling as he pet Appa's nose. "This is Appa! My flying bison!" Aang said to the boy with a friendly smile. "Right. And this is Katara! My flying sister." The boy said in sarcasm as he stared at Aang with a 'not convinced' face, while his sister, Katara looked at her brother with a 'really?' face.
Both Aang and I frowned in confusion for the boy's responds. These kids probable don't get out much if they don't know what a sky bison is. But before Aang or I could question them, Appa started inhaling deeply. We both looked at him worried, but when we realized that he was about to sneeze, our worried looks turned into scared looks. Aang quickly ducked down when Appa sneezed, his snot missing Aang by a second, while I held on tight onto the saddle, not to fall off.
The water tribe boy wasn't so lucky, because he got hit by Appa's snot. He stood still for a moment in shock, but he soon started crying out in disgust as he tried to wipe the snot off him. But when it didn't seem to work, so he soon dropped to his knees and started wiping the snow on him. And not a moment later, he started wiping his face on the ground!
"Don't worry! It will wash out!" Aang said with a simple smile. The boy cried out in disgust one last time as he wiped off the last bit of snot off him. "So, do you guys live around here?" Aang asked innocently, but his friendly, innocent expression soon turned into a scared expression when the boy pointed his spear at Aang. My sister and Protector instincts kicking in, I quickly jumped out of Appa's saddle and landed in front of Aang in a fighting stance.
"Back off!" I exclaimed, warningly, as I glared at the boy. My brother just asked a simple question! What's up with these kids? I mentally thought to myself. Not expecting me, the boy cried out in surprise, before he himself also glared at me and then pointed his spear at me. My glare deepening, I took one step forward, with my arms rising a bit higher up, preparing myself for anything.
Not wanting a fight, Aang quickly grabbed my arms and pulled me back. "Asami wait! He's not going to hurt me!" He said as he pulled me back. Not removing my glare, I pulled my arms away from Aang, giving him a pointed look before looking back at the boy. "That spear says differently." I said as I glared at the boy warningly. "You just asked an innocent question, and he points a spear at you!"
"Innocent question!?" The boy exclaimed in anger, lifting his spear back at us. "You guys just send out a crazy bolt of light! You probable send it to signal the Fire Navy!" The boy continued, but his comment made both Aang and I frown in confusion. Katara rolled her eyes at her brother as she walked towards us. "Oh yeah! I'm sure they're spies for the Fire Navy!" She said in sarcasm as she glared at her brother, pushing him back.
"You can tell by that evil look in their eyes." She finished as she and her brother look back at us. But instead of seeing evil eyes, Aang made innocent, sparkle eyes with a big friendly smile. Seeing his sparkle eyes, I laughed as I gave my brother a side hug. "Only you can make your eyes sparkle so innocently!" Aang laughed at my comment and returned the hug. Katara giggled softly with a smile before she introduced her brother to us.
"The paranoid one, is my brother, Sokka." Katara said while her brother, Sokka, waved slightly at us. "You never told us your names." She added as she looked back at us with a friendly smile. "I'm-" Aang started with a smile, but before he could finish, he started inhaling, signaling that he's about to sneeze. Katara and Sokka looked at him, worried, while I took a step away from him, not wanting to have air blasted at me.
"ACHOO!" Aang sneezed, blasting himself 15 feet into the air. Katara and Sokka moved slightly back after the air pushed them, also getting Katara's hood to fly off, before looking up in shock. "That's a new record." I said as I watched how high Aang flew. They both looked shocked at me, but before they could question me, Aang got back down. Instead of airbending his landing, Aang landed on the ice and slide back to us, stopping with him standing up.
"I'm Aang!" He finally said before rubbing under his nose. "And I'm Asami!" I said as I walked back over to Aang and stood next to him. Both Katara and Sokka blinked a few times in surprise. "You just sneezed! And flew 10 feet into the air!" Sokka said, while pointing as he and Katara looked at Aang, shocked. Aang frowned slightly, as he turned slightly and looked up. "Really? It felt higher than that."
"15 feet actually." I said to Sokka before looking back at Aang. "New record." I added before I airbended myself over to Appa's saddle to get Kai. Katara gasped as she saw me airbend, before looking back at Aang. "You are airbenders!" She exclaimed in realization. "Sure are!" Aang answered for both of us, as I jumped to them with Kai on my shoulder.
"Giant light beams, flying bison, airbenders, red koala-otter," Sokka started listing, making us all frown. I don't know the other two's reason, my reason was that he called Kai a red koala-otter. "I think I got midnight sun madness!" Sokka continued as he started walking away from us. "I'm going home to where stuff makes sense!" He said, but stopped when he saw that he had no way of going home. Realizing that the water tribe kids was probable stuck, Aang looked at me before looking back at Katara after I nodded to him.
"Well if you guys are stuck, Appa and I can give you lift." Aang said to her, before airbending himself over to Appa's head, before sitting down crossed leg. "We'll love a ride! Thanks!" Katara exclaimed as she run over to the side where I all ready stood. Already knowing that she was a first time flyer and will trouble getting up, Aang crawled over to the saddle before leaning over, offering his hand to her.
"Oh no! I'm not getting on that fluffy, snot monster!" Sokka exclaimed as he walked back over with a glare. I rolled my eyes at the boy's stubbornness, before smiling at Katara. "Hold on." I warned softly with a smile as I airbended Katara up until Aang could grab her hand. Katara was caught by surprise at first, but laugh after Aang caught her and helped her into the saddle. Half way in, Katara turned her head to Sokka.
"Are you hoping some other kind of monster will come along and give you a ride home?" Katara asked in sarcasm. "You know, before you freeze to death!" She added pointedly as she got in the saddle. Sokka opens his mouth, pointing his finger at her, but before he could argue, he sighs sadly as he looked down with a pout, knowing that she's right.
I giggled as he pouted and walked over to me. I airbended him up before airbending myself up and into Appa's saddle. Sokka grumbled to himself as he crawled over to his sister, sitting next to her with his arms crossed. He looked annoyed, but his sister on the other hand, looked very excited. "Okay, first time flyers!" Aang exclaimed excitedly as he looked over his shoulder to us, while sitting on Appa's head, reins in hand.
"Hold on tight!" He added as he looked back down at Appa. "Appa, yip yip!" Aang order, whipping the reins softly. Appa groaned as he stood up straight, moving his tail to help him fly. He jumped up in the air, but instead of flying like he's suppose to, he belly flops in the ocean and started swimming. "Come on Appa! Yip yip!" Aang said, whipping the reins again, but Appa just continued swimming.
"Wow... that was truly amazing." Sokka said in sarcasm, not looking impressed as he sat against Appa's saddle with his arms still crossed. Both Katara and I glared at him, but Aang took no offense as he looked over his shoulder again, with a smile. "Appa's just tired. A little rest, and he'll be soaring through the sky!" Aang said as he waved his hand up in the air. "You'll see!" He finished, smiling happily.
Katara smiled back, but soon frown slightly when she noticed Aang smiling at her. "Why are you smiling at me like that?" I giggled softly through my hand when I saw my brothers expression when he realized he got caught. I knew that smile anywhere, its the same smile Zian gives me when he looks at me. "Oh, uh, I was smiling?" Aang shuttered nervously, but Katara just smiled kindly at him.
Sokka groaned annoyed, which made Katara glare at him. But I just crawled over to my brother with a knowing look. Aang looked up at me, and blushed when he saw my knowing look. "Maybe I should invite her to my wedding! She can be your plus one!" I whispered to Aang, making him blush even deeper. Aang silently shushed me, but I just laughed again.
Kai started chirping to get my attention. I looked down and saw him giving his puppy face. "Awe! Are you hungry?" I asked Kai, making him in a spin a circle before chirping again. I laughed at the little thing, taking my bag that had Kai's favorite food in, fire flakes. "Here you go!" I said as I take a handful of fire flakes and offered to him. Kai chirped happily and started eating out of my hand.
"He's so cute!" Katara said to me as she watched Kai. "Thanks! His name's Kai! He's a fire ferret!" I said as I smiled to her, still feeding him. "A what?" Sokka asked, lifting his eyebrow in confusion, still sitting crossed arm. "A fire ferret. They come from bamboo forests." I answered, petting Kai's head softly while he ate. "Can I pet him?" Katara asked after a moment. "Sure!"
Katara crawled over to us and slowly petted Kai on the back after she took off her glove. Kai finished eating and soon started groaning in pleasure when Katara started scratching his back. He rolled over, offering his belly to be scratched. Katara and I laughed, and soon we both started scratching his belly.
A few hours past, and we all were starting to get tired. Sokka was already lying down on his side, slowly letting the sleepiness take over. Katara crawled over to side of the saddle and looked over at Aang who was laying on Appa's head. "Hey." She said quietly in thought to him. "Hey! What you thinking about?" Aang asked as he smiled at her, but she continued to look in thought.
"I guess I was wondering, you and Asami being airbenders and all," She started as she laid on her crossed arms that was laid on the saddle. "If you had any idea what happened to the Avatar?" Aang's smiled disappeared while I looked at them, worried. Aang and I just got our freedom back, we're not ready to be the Avatar and Protector just yet.
"Uh, no." Aang started as he sat up. "I didn't know him," He said before looking from Katara to me. "Neither did Asami." He added, looking back at Katara, thinking what to say next. "I mean, we knew people that knew him, but we didn't!" He quickly added, smiling brightly as he finished. "Sorry!" I mentally sighed to myself in relief that my brother was able to lie without giving himself away.
"Okay. Just curious." Katara said, in thought again before smiling at him. "Good night!" She said before crawling back where she sat. "Sleep tight!" Aang said to her, before turning his back and looking down worried. I looked down at my brother sadly, knowing exactly how he felt. We both hated lying, but we had if we ever what our freedom back. I sent Aang one last smile, before laying down and going to sleep.
"Hey! Asami! Wake up!" I groaned in annoyances when I heard Sokka's voice and slowly opened my eyes. I glared at Sokka a death glare for waking me up, but he just smirked at me. "Seriously Sokka? Can't you see I'm sleeping?" I said, as I turned over, away from him, and tried to go back to sleep. Sokka chuckled at my behavior before walking over and shook me. "Come on! We're at my village. Katara wants to introduce you and Aang to our people."
I sighed again, before slowly getting up. I turned my back to Sokka as I got out of bed, before bending down to pick up my orange wrap. As I stood up, I heard Sokka gasped behind me. I looked over my shoulder and saw him looking at my tattoo on the back. "Whoa!" Sokka said in amazement, making me smile proudly. "I was wondering why you didn't have arrow tattoos, but now I see that you where just covering them up!"
I smiled, flinching slightly at his remark. "Are female airbender tattoos different?" Sokka asked innocently. Instead of having blue arrow tattoos like the others, I had my own design tattooed. On my back, I had four arrows that each pointed at their own direction, with a yin and yang in the middle. Each arrow had its own element's symbol with its name either written next, below or under it. Up was air, right was water, down was earth and left was fire.
"No, just mine." I said sadly, looking down at the wrap in my hand. I didn't have look at him to know that Sokka was frowning, but I didn't want to talk about it. "It's complicated." I quickly said before he could ask any questions. Seeing that it bothered me a bit, Sokka nodded before looking back at the tattoo. "I like the design! Each arrow having its own element with its name!" Sokka said as he looked at my tattoo in awe. I chuckled softly at him, before taking the wrap, and wrapped it around my back, and put my red belt around me, holding the wrap in place.
"Hey! You have on your arms as well!" Sokka exclaimed as he saw the arrow tattoos on my arms. "On my legs as well!" I said proudly with a smirk. "Want to see them properly?" I asked him with a knowing look. Sokka nodded quickly, walking over as I showed the tattoos on my arms first. On the right arm, I had the air symbol under the arrow head, and had the words, freedom, and peace written under the symbol. On my left, I had the fire symbol, with the words, life, and power written under.
"Freedom, peace." Sokka said as he read my right arm. "So instead of writing their name, you wrote what they represent!" He said, smiling brightly as he figured out the meaning to my tattoo before I could tell. I smiled at him, nodding to him that he's right, before sitting down and lifting my pants leg, showing my other two tattoos. On the right I had water, and had the words, change, and healing. On the left I had earth, and the words, strong, and proud.
"I like the water arrow!" Sokka said, smiling brightly as he pointed at my right leg. I laughed at before I took my shoes and put them on. I stood up, taking my sleeves and put them on my arms. I took my staff and exited the tent. Katara smiled at me when she saw me, which I returned as I walked over to her and Aang, before she pointed at the people who stood in front of us. "Aang, Asami, this is the entire village!"
"Entire village, Aang and Asami!" Both Aang and I bowed in greeting, but when we bowed, the villagers stepped back in fear. We frowned at their reaction, before looking at Katara for an explanation. "Why are they looking at us like that?" Aang asked, before looking down at his clothes, worried. "Did Appa sneeze on me?" He quickly asked again as he inspected himself, but he soon stopped when one of the elderly woman stepped forward.
"Well no one has seen an airbender for a 100 years. We thought they were extinct. Until my granddaughter and grandson found you two." She said as she looked at us expressionless. "Extinct?" We both asked at the same time, shocked at the new found information. "Aang, Asami, this is my grandmother." Katara said, smiling at the elderly woman who was her grandmother. "Call me Gran Gran." She said, still looking at expressionless.
Sokka walked over to us and grabbed Aang's staff out of his hand. "What is this? A weapon?" He asked as he inspected the staff in his hand. "You can't stab anything with this!" He exclaimed as he frowned slightly at it. "It's not for stabbing!" I said while laugh, before Aang airbended his staff out of Sokka's hand and back into his. "It's for airbending!" Aang added before opening his glider, making Sokka cry out in surprise, blocking his face with his hands.
I laughed at Sokka's reaction while the children of the village laughed in joy. "Magic trick! Do it again!" A little girl exclaimed as she watched Aang in wonder. "Not magic, Airbending!" Aang said proudly to her. "It lets me control the air currents around my glider and fly!" Aang explained to them while slowly moving his glider. Sokka glared at Aang with his arms crossed, not believing a single word.
"You know, last time I checked, humans can't fly!" Sokka exclaimed pointed at Aang, making me cringe, knowing that he just encouraged Aang to proof him wrong. "Check again!" Aang exclaimed, blasting himself up. I chuckled as soon as he hit the air, and watched with the villagers as Aang flew around, above our heads. Loving the attention, Aang started doing flips, making the village ooh and ah.
But his flying soon stopped as he flew head first into a snow tower. I burst into laughter while Katara run over to see if Aang was okay. "My watch tower!" Sokka cried in sadness, looking at the pile of snow as if it was somebody who stole his food. I rolled my eyes at my brother, smiling as I walked over to him and Katara. "That was amazing!" She said as she helped Aang get back on his feet.
Sokka run over to check his watch tower, but as soon as he touched it, a whole pile of snow fell on top of him. He pulled his head up, shaking the snow off, before looking at us, unamused. "Great, you are an airbender, Katara is a waterbender! Together you can just waste time all day long!" Sokka said, annoyed, as he got out of the snow.
Both Aang and I turned to Katara as we stared at her happily. "You're a waterbender!" Aang exclaimed happily. "Well, sort of. Not yet." Katara said, smiling in shyness. "Alright!" Gran Gran called, catching everyone's attention. "No more playing! Come on Katara! You have chores!" She said, taking Katara's hand as they both walked away from us, off to some work.
Katara waved at us before leaving, which we returned. Soon after, the children of the village run over and started talking to Aang. I smiled kindly at the kids before I started walking over to Appa, knowing that I had to feed him and Kai. But before I could reach them, I stopped when I heard something that sounded like someone calling me. I turned around with a frown, before quickly getting a surprised look on my face.
"Aang!" I exclaimed as I run back to him. Aang smiled as nervously as he can, because he had his tongue stuck to his staff. "Seriously Aang!? You should know better!" I exclaimed at him, annoyed, while pouring water on his tongue. Aang muttered a few things as I poured over the water, but I couldn't hear a word he said. So I just kept pouring the water.
"Hey Asami!" Aang called out to me. I was busy checking our bags, making sure we didn't lose anything from the storm. After hearing him call me, I closed the bags and walked over to him. "Yeah Aang?" I asked as I walked over. "Can you help me with this?" He asked as he held Sokka's spear in the one hand, and string in the other. I frowned at the things in his hands, before looking at him in confusion. "Depends on what you want to do."
"I want to make a stand for Appa's tail, so that the kids can use to slide down on!" I blinked a few times, before smiling brightly. "Okay!" I said, before we started making a stand for Appa's tail. We finished quickly, and soon enough, the kids where climbing up and sliding down his tail, landing in pile of soft snow. The kids where laughing in joy, having fun, before Sokka run over shouting.
"Stop! Stop it right now!"
Both Aang and I frowned at Sokka's behavior while he walked over and grabbed his spear. "What's wrong with you?! We don't have time for fun and games with the war going on!" Say what now? "War? What war? I asked as Aang and I jumped of Appa, with Kai on my shoulder. "What are you talking about?" Aang asked with the same amount of confusion as me. Both Sokka and Katara looked at us, confused.
"You're kidding right?" Sokka asked with a frown. Aang open his mouth to answer, but froze when he saw something behind them. "PENGUIN!" Aang screamed in excitement when he saw the arctic creature. Knowing that it was on Aang's radar, the penguin otter quickly turned around and run away. Not wanting to lose it, Aang started running after it with his wind run.
Caught by surprise by both his question and wind run, Sokka and Katara looked down the direction where Aang went. "He's kidding right?" He asked Katara with a frown. She shrugged at him, before running the direction Aang went. Still confuse for what's going on, walked over to Sokka and questioned him again, while scratching Kai's chin. "What war?"
Sokka looked at me in shocked, but I just looked at him in confusion. "You're not serious, are you?" I groaned in annoyances at Sokka's response, clutching my fists as I tried not to blow up. "For crying out loud! I have no idea what you're talking about! Last time I checked, there wasn't any war going around here in the South Pole!" I snapped, making Kai chirp worriedly at me, but Sokka only looked at me as if I'm crazy. "How can you not know about the 100 year war!?" He exclaimed at me, shocked that I didn't know what he was talking.
"A 100 year war?! What on earth are you talking about?" I asked the water tribe boy, even more confused than ever. There couldn't be a war going on! Zian and I chose to marry at Whale Tail Island and last time we checked, there wasn't any war going on! So either there's some secret war going on here that the world doesn't know about, or this boy is crazy!
"You really don't know?" Sokka asked, his face having both shock and realize expressions. "I really don't know what war you're talking about! If I have known there was a war going on here in the South Pole, I would have chosen a different venue!" I exclaimed, getting more frustrated. Feeling my emotions, Kai softly rubbed his face against mine, slowly calming me down. "How long were you stuck in that ice?" Sokka asked, looking at me even more shocked.
I frowned in confusion at his remark, slowly thinking how long I was stuck in there. Hopefully not long, I didn't want to miss my own wedding! "A few days maybe... Hopefully not longer." I said, crossing my arms, but still a bit in thought. "More like a 100 years." Sokka muttered, but I still heard him. "Say what now!?" I exclaimed, glaring at him in confusion, but he was looking sadly at me.
"Asami, there is a 100 year old war going on around the whole world, not just in the South Pole." Sokka answered slowly. "Wait, what?" I asked, shocked, and started thinking to myself how what Sokka was saying couldn't be true. It can't be truth, it shouldn't be true! "It can't be! It's not possible!" I explained at him, but was saying it more to myself than to him really.
"I'm sorry to say this Asami, but that is the only explanation." Sokka started saying to me sadly. "A 100 years ago, the Fire Nation attacked and started a world war." He continued, but he was only making me even more confused. "That's not possible! The Fire Nation is a peaceful country! They would never start a war! They're about life! Not destruction!" I explained as I started pacing. Kai chirped in surprise at my pacing, which made me stop and sigh in sadness.
Sokka just continued looking at me sadly, making me sigh again as I slowly realized that he was telling the truth. Holding myself for comfort, I turned my back to him, closing my eyes to hold back the tears that was starting to form. If what he was telling was true, that means that I did miss my wedding and that Zian, the love of my life, my everything, was dead.
"Please tell me that this isn't real." I started, closing my eyes tighter to stop the tears from escaping. "Please tell me that there isn't a war going on... That my brother and I wasn't frozen for a 100 years..." I said, slowly starting to cry as I realized that I lost the best thing that ever happened to me. Kai chirped sadly at me, rubbing face against me again, trying to cheer me up, but it didn't help this time.
"I'm sorry Asami, but I can't." Sokka said sadly to me, only making me cry more. "The war is real, and it has been going on for a 100 years." I continued crying, letting the tears roll as the truth finally sat in. I slowly started walking towards the tent were I slept, wanting to be alone. "Are you going to be okay?" Sokka asked as I walked away from him.
"I just need some time alone please?" I said sadly, not stopping to look at him. I entered the tent soon later, putting Kai on the bed and walked over to my bag. I got down to my knees and opened my bag, crying even more when I saw what I was looking for. I took it in my hands, and slowly lifted it up to my view, before holding it close to chest, crying broken hearted.
"You were getting married..." I didn't turn round when I heard Gran Gran's voice, I just sat there and continued crying as I held my wedding dress in my hands, close to my heart. She slowly walked over to me, wrapping her arms around me, bring me into a motherly hug. "It's okay little one..." She said softly, patting my head as I cried on her shoulder. "Let it all out."
I continued crying in her shoulder, but she didn't seem to mind as she continued hugging and comforting me. After a while of crying, I slowly calmed, but she kept her arms around me, knowing that I still needed comfort. "I know it hurts little one," She started softly, patting my head motherly as she spoke. "You miss him terrible and want to be with him so bad."
"He was my everything." I muttered in her shoulder. "I know child, I know..." She said softly, not stopping her motherly pat that was comforting me very much. "But through time, you will heal from this broken heart. Yes, you will still miss him, and it will still hurt, but you will move on." She said calmly and knowingly.
"He'll want you to live on happily. And one day, you will meet someone new." She continued, hugging me tightly in comfort as I shook my head no. "I know it seems like your replacing him, but you are still young, and you have a full life ahead of you. He would want you to move on, and live your life." She said comfortably.
"You don't have to move on now, you don't have to let him go yet." She continued, knowingly, probable from experience. "You need time to heal. And once you're healed, you will meet a wonderful man who bring you as much happiness as your first love." She finished, pulling slightly away, holding her arms still around me, and looked my deep in the eyes with a soft smile.
"Just remember, that he will always be in your heart. No matter what." I smiled sadly, nodding gratefully at her, hugging her back as she pulled me back into a hug. We pulled away a moment, she smiled at as she wiped away my last tear. I smiled softly at her before giving one last look at my wedding dress and putting it back in my bag. I then took out a picture of Zian and me, and showed it to her.
"He was a handsome man!" Gran Gran said as she looked at the picture with a bright smile, before looking at me with a knowing smile. "I bet you two found each other in an interesting way." I laughed softly at her comment, knowing that she was right. I started talking to her, telling how we met and all the happy memories we had together.
She smiled at me like a proud grandmother as I told my and Zian's story. She pretty soon started talking about her life with me, and we both just bonded like that for the whole day. But in a middle of a story, my left ear started itching. Gran Gran frowned slightly, and asked me worriedly what was wrong when she saw my expression.
"Aang is in trouble." And not even a moment later, we heard Sokka calling to his grandmother. I took Kai and put him on my shoulder as Gran Gran and I left the tent, before looking at the sky in shock, fear, and disappointment. The whole village was looking up, watching the flare that lighting up the blue sky to orange. Gran Gran told me about the Fire Navy ship that was frozen a few miles away from the village, and I knew that flare came from that ship, and that Aang was the one that set it off.
"Aang... What have you done?" I asked to myself, disappointed that my brother's curiosity. No matter how many times he gets into trouble, he will always follow his curiosity anywhere! And this time, his curiosity lead to possible endangering this village. Let's hope there are no Fire Navy ships on patrol, otherwise, we might need to prepare for battle.
