This chapter will mostly focus on world building and establishing why the characters are doing what they are doing.
"C'mon Len, I'm waiting for an answer." Miku said cheerfully.
"Yes, I'd like to dance with you." Len said, he didn't knew what answer to give, so he went with his instinct "What have I done."
"Great." Miku grabbed his hand, and took him to the dancing area.
Miku started performing some exceptional dancing moves. Len was erotically turned on and couldn't move his body. But he he willed himself up and started moving his body to show his own fabulous dancing skills. Everyone was now looking at Miku and Len now. They were impressed at how effortlessly they were pulling it off, and they were now the hottest duo in the room. Everyone had realized how lovely of a couple they'd be. Just then, the music slowed down and became a bit more romantic. Miku and Len immediately stopped dancing. They weren't sure what to do. They slowly grabbed eachother's arms and began slowly dancing to the romantic music's melody. Miku started coming near Len's face, in response, Len also started getting near Miku's face. They were just about to kiss. Suddenly, the music stopped.
"Alright everyone, that's it for now, we'll continue the dance after a meal." The announcer announced.
The people were annoyed that Miku and Len were interrupted so inconsiderately. But nobody can argue with good food.
"Well, I guess I'll see you in a while." Miku said, her voice was now way more shy than before, as she's now begun to develope feelings for him naturally.
"I'll be ready." Len said in a voice even more shy.
They then left the room for the dining room.
The dining room was filled with tables, there was not one empty table, everyone who had attended the party was stoked. They couldn't wait to stuff themselve with food.
Len and Kaito were sitting on their chairs at their table, the waiter arrived.
"May I take your order please?" The waiter said to Kaito.
"I don't really care, give me whatever that guy orders." Kaito pointed towards Len.
"I'd like to have BBQ chicken legs and thighs." Len ordered.
The waiter wrote it down and left.
"You know Len, speaking of your order, do you know humans once stopped eating meat." Kaito told him.
"How did that happen? And why did we went back to meat again?" Len sounded curious.
"It's simple, there was a movement of people who came out against killing animals, they called themselve vegans. Their movement was called veganism, they ideologically convinced the world that eating meat was immoral. Humans eventually stopped killing animals and replaced it with plant-based meat and lab-grown meat." Kaito explained.
"Then why did we started killing animals again?" Len asked.
"You remember the alien invasion of Earth that lead to the war during which Earth was destroyed, right?" Kaito reminded him.
"Yeah, I remember." Len answered.
"During the war against aliens, we got infected with their DNA which lead to us becoming incapable of surviving without animal products." Kaito sounded uncomfortable explaining this.
"That's fascinating." Len was invested now.
"No seriously, if we were to not have meat, eggs, or dairy for over eight months, the alien DNA inside us would make us explode, we can't even have lab-grown meat because the alien DNA is sensitive to it." Kaito sounded super annoyed.
"Well, I'm sure we'll find a cure to purify us from the alien DNA." Len said.
"I guess, I'm just glad we've found a way to kill animals without any physical pain." Kaito said.
Kaito was indeed right, humans had invented a device called Flobbles. It looked similar to a thermometer. All you had to do was to inject an animal with it while the animal's asleep. It would slowly kill their cells without any physical trauma in sleep. The best part? Flobbles doesn't work on humans, meaning serial killers or assassins can't even use it as a weapon. Truly a weird invention.
"Yeah, we should really appreciate Flobbles more than we do." Len said to Kaito.
"Honestly I don't wanna talk about this longer, let's just wait for our food." Kaito said.
Len suddenly saw Miku on her table with Teto.
"I wonder what she's thinking." Len thought.
"May I take your order please?" The waiter said to Miku.
"A mushroom soup for both of us." Miku answered.
The waiter wrote it down and left.
"It's great that you came for the party Miku." Teto said enthusiasticly.
"You came to our space station for a party last time," Miku said "I just thought it'd be appopriate to return the favour."
"You're the perfect friend." Teto complimented her.
"I'm nothing special." Miku was a bit shy.
"Hey Miku." Len said as he was standing behind her.
"Len!" She turned around and saw him, she was nervous "what brought you here?"
"I just saw you from afar, and just wondered how you were doing," Len said "and don't worry, my order isn't getting prepared anytime soon."
"Well, you see," Miku was really shy now "I was just talking to my friend Teto."
"She's your friend?" Len wondered.
"We've been friends since I went to her space station for their party Len." Teto answered.
"Why didn't you ever told me that you had such a lovely friend Teto?" Len said.
"You never asked." Teto replied.
"Well I'm happy to be around a real angel." Len said.
"Again, I'm nothing special Len." Miku said in a shy voice.
"Keep telling yourself that," Len said "I should be going back to my table, my order should be out in a while."
Len left to return to his table, Miku's crush on him was getting stronger and stronger.
Rin was on her table, waiting for her order. A waitress arrived.
"Sorry ma'am, but your order might take a bit longer." The waitress said.
"First Len refused to spend time with me, and now this." Rin felt a bit bummed.
"Anyway ma'am, I've heard the news that N.D.L have been near our space station multiple times this month." The waitress told her.
"N.D.L?" Rin sounded confused.
"Notorious Devil Ladies, the feared duo of criminals who have been wreaking havoc throughout the galaxy." The waitress elaborated.
"I've heard of them," Rin said "you think there's a chance that they'd invade our space station." Rin asked.
"Maybe." The waitress answered and left.
"Now I'm concerned." Rin said to herself.
Okay, this story is going a bit more fast-paced than I expected. Regardless, I'm proud of this chapter.
